Description
Discussion area for anyone interested in, or affected by interference to 800 MHz land mobile radio systems and the 800 Rebanding processes. The migration of Commercial Mobile Radio Systems (CMRS) away from classic land mobile radio system design to cellular design has resulted in a conflict of technologies with existing land mobile radio systems in the 800 band. In April of 2000, the FCC brought together a private task force to address the issue. The task force consists of members of the manufacturing community, the commercial mobile community, and APCO (Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials). As the task force generates information, it will be posted to this forum.
The public safety sector particularly needs a method to inform its members of the effects, causes, and solutions to this problem that is leaving “zones of interference” in critical coverage areas. Of interest are anyone associated with systems that have experienced problems, how those problems manifest themselves, how you detected the problems, and what, if any, solutions were used to mitigate the problem.
More informationis available on APCO's 800ALERT website. This site also includes other information and updates relating to the 800 Interference issue: http://www.800mhz.org.
