Agile Coach

Salesforce.com San Francisco, CA HQ office

Change the way the world does business at salesforce.com, the global leader in software as a service (SaaS). More companies trust their vital customer and sales data to salesforce.com than any other on-demand customer relationship management (CRM) provider in the world. Salesforce.com has evolved from a startup founded by four people in a cramped San Francisco apartment 9 years ago to an organization with more than 2,700 employees. For fiscal year 2008, we reported revenue of approximately $748.7 million, an increase of 51 percent from fiscal 2007.

Why? We deliver integrated, customizable business applications for companies ranging from small nonprofits to global enterprises. Or maybe it's because Salesforce is so easy to learn and use. Or it could be the unprecedented speed with which our customers see real, tangible ROI. Or maybe it's because of our 100-percent dedication to the success of our customers. In fact, more than 43,000 companies and 1,000,000 subscribers worldwide depend on Salesforce to manage their sales, marketing, customer service, and other critical business functions. We are proud to be contributing to the success of companies of all sizes, in all industries, around the globe. Top talent across the world joins salesforce.com for its "change the world" mentality; the opportunity to excel in a fast-paced, performance-based, competitive atmosphere; and the chance to be surrounded by peers and leaders that inspire, motivate, and innovate.

You will be using cutting edge agile methods and tools to enable teams to rapidly deliver functionality that drives customer satisfaction. FREE OPEN SOURCE TEST WORKSHOP

Coming to Prague, London, Brussels, Paris!

Where load testing, root cause analysis, and application lifecycle management (ALM) come together

Featuring Selenium, soapUI, HTMLUnit, JUnit, TestMaker, dynaTrace

Software developers, QA testers, and IT managers are challenged to rapidly build and test Ajax, REST, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA,) and Web applications in a time when schedules are short, budgets are tight, standards are few, and much of this is new technology! Find out why Sportsbet, Sprint, Tribal DDB, PepsiCo, AMD, and NTT Verio succeed with open source test technology and methodology as a more affordable and flexible option to the traditional test vendors.

At the Workshop you will learn how these tools were made to work together. For example, repurpose a Selenium test into a data-driven load test. Then learn how to analyze service interdependenices and their resource usage by viewing the application's PurePath using dynaTrace. Look inside your Java enterprise application using Glassbox. Then integrate the solution into your continuous integration environment.

Avoid Unplanned Downtime, reduce downtime costs, and increase your developer and tester productivity.

Comments from past Workshop attendees:

"A big thank you to you and your engineers. I've been working on a load test for a while, the Workshop accelerated my test development!"

"The Workshop was really a great learning experience for me. Now, I am quite comfortable with open source testing tools. That being said, I know that there definitely is a plus to have support from PushToTest."

"When I arrived at the Workshop and received your extensive materials I wondered: Is this really free?! You delivered an incredible value!"

At the Workshop you will learn to leverage an open source software platform that develops products and services for rapid rich Internet application (RIA)/AJAX development on a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Learn how you can leverage open-source testing tools (Selenium, soapUI, PushToTest, TestGen4Web, HTMLUnit) for functional testing, load and performance testing, and business service monitoring, with more flexibility than traditional solutions provide.

Subject: [ANN] Agile/XPSoCal Wednesday, September 16th - Feedback in Agile Processes
agilelogic
Send Email Send Email

Most agile teams find initial success after implementing the basic
agile framework, such as the Scrum practices. But many teams find
they quickly reach a plateau, and wonder how to take agile to the
next level. How can we do that?

This month, Adam Sroka will show us the core mechanisms that make
agile work, and how to implement and tune the full set of feedback
cycles that are essential for building a well-oiled agile machine.

This meeting is in TWO WEEKS - Wednesday, September 16th at 6:00 PM.

Please RSVP to agilesocal@... !!!

-----

What Is "Feedback?" Why Does It Matter?
Steering and Adaptation in Agile Processes

A common theme in Agile methods is that we do something, observe the
results, and then do it again with a renewed effort informed by
earlier results. In Extreme Programming such an approach has been
referred to as a "Feedback Loop" and, in fact, XP has Feedback as one
of its core values.

Feedback comes up in many ways in many different practices from the
large scale "Inspect and Adapt" cycles of Scrum to the very small
"Red-Green-Refactor" cycles of TDD. We are going to discuss all of
the different ways that feedback applies to Agile methods, including
specific practices, and attempt to understand how these different
applications are informed by the same values and principles. We will
look at how feedback can help us to solve the most seemingly
insurmountable of problems, and also where misunderstandings or
misapplications of feedback can break things down quickly.

Feedback cycles are essential to all agile practices. This session
will benefit all agile team members, from developers and testers, to
agile team leaders and managers.

Your Speaker:

Adam Sroka has been writing software for over twenty years including
eleven years professionally. For the last eight years he has
specialized in using Agile methods such as XP and Scrum, applying
XP's engineering practices to solve real world problems in a number
of different domains, and training fellow programmers on the
practices and their application.

Join us next TUE, September 15 at 6:30PM to discuss Scrum’s Definition of Done (what is it, how do you create it, and how do you enforce it). We will take a closer look at some of the experiences we have seen through our group members and have discussions around one of the most important assets of Scrum. What does it mean to be DONE?

When: TUE September 15 6:30PM-8:30PM CT
Where: 15950 Dallas Parkway Suite 500 Dallas, TX 75248
Cost: $0.00 AND we provide dinner, please register online so we can ensure enough food is ordered: http://www.meetup.com/DFWScrum/calendar/11146979/

Also, for our October session (TUE October 27 6:30PM CT), we will be hosting Mike Cohn. We will have limited space and the cost is FREE, so if you plan on coming, please reserve your spot now (dinner also provided): http://www.meetup.com/DFWScrum/calendar/11158109/

About Us

DFW Scrum is part of the Scrum Alliance and welcome any and all parties who wish to share knowledge about Agile / Scrum. We meet on the 3rd TUE of each month. At the beginning of each quarter, we strive to have an industry expert present and hold Q&A with our group. In the past, we have hosted Ken Schwaber, Ron Jeffries, and Mike Cohn. Our group does not focus on one sole role in Scrum, we support all roles and even those parties who are just thinking about adopting Scrum and wish to learn more.

Our goal is to help our members be better today than they were yesterday. The best way to do that is through collective wisdom of the crowd. We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings.

Hi all,

I will be in San Antonio starting Sunday afternoon (Sept 13) and
leaving Wednesday morning (September 16).

From there I will be in Seattle, Washington, until Saturday morning
(September 19).

While I am doing some public classes there (and you are welcome to see
more at www.michaelvizdos.com/enroll), the main purpose of this email
is to see if you'd be interested in meeting up with me (and others) in
the area while I am there. Over the years of doing this, I have met
some of the most interesting people on the planet -- and it is WAYYYYY
better than me hanging out in yet another hotel room (smile).

Let me know if you'd like to meet-up while I am either in San Antonio
or Seattle next week!

Thank you,

We have collected 500 responses and so are 1/2 way to the goal of 1000 responses to the original "NOKIA test"

Please complete this short survey to see if your team passes the Nokia Test.

A basic pass / fail test was developed at Nokia to understand if the
many teams were implementing Scrum correctly. You can take this test
by clicking on the link below.

I will aggregate the results and email them to you if you are
interested. I will present the results back to the Agile/Scrum
community for discussion once we have 1000 responses.

Please forward this email to other teams so we can get as many
responses as possible.

Just a reminder, our September monthly meeting is NEXT WEDNESDAY,
September 16th, at 6:00 PM. We have a great talk scheduled with
Adam Sroka, who will show us the core mechanisms that make agile
work, and how to implement and tune the full set of feedback
cycles that are essential for building a well-oiled agile machine.
You won't want to miss this!

This meeting is NEXT WEEK - Wednesday, September 16th at 6:00 PM.

Please RSVP to agilesocal@... !!!

7 Key Factors for Agile Testing Success

Agile development presents unique challenges for testers and test
teams. Working in short iterations, often with limited written
requirements, agile development teams can leave traditional testers
behind. Common testing-related activities such as user acceptance
testing, testing inter-product relationships, and installation testing
require different approaches to work within agile projects.

In this session Lisa Crispin presents seven key factors for testing
success within agile projects using a whole team approach, adopting
an agile mind set, automating regression testing, collaborating with
customers, providing and obtaining feedback, looking at the big
picture, and building a foundation of core agile practices.

Learn how to overcome cultural and organizational obstacles to
successful testing and discover the critical factors for delivering
maximum value to your business.

Your Speaker:

Lisa Crispin is the co-author, with Janet Gregory, of Agile Testing:
A Practical Guide for Testers and Agile Teams (Addison-Wesley, 2009).
A tester on agile teams since 2000, Lisa currently works as a tester
and Manager of Agile Software Development at Ultimate Software Group,
working on one of 28 Scrum teams. From 2003 until 2009, she worked as
a tester on an amazing XP/Scrum team at ePlan Services Inc.,
developing web-based financial applications. She also helps teams and
testers transition to agile. Lisa leads tutorials and workshops on
agile testing at conferences in North America and Europe, and has
helped organize several of the Agile 200x conferences. She regularly
contributes articles about agile testing to publications such as
Better Software magazine, IEEE Software, and Methods and Tools. Lisa
co-authored Testing Extreme Programming with Tip House. For more
