The Buckingham Branch is Virginia's largest shortline railroad, operating over 200 miles of trackage in central Virginia. The railroad expanded from the original 17 miles from Dillwyn to Bremo Bluff, VA to over 200 miles with the lease of CSX Transportation's ex C&O North Mountain Subdivision on Decemeber 20, 2004. All information on the Buckingham Branch, CSX, and Amtrak trains operating on the Buckingham Branch trackage is welcome, and train sightings and operational notes are most appreciated. Discussion of the Shenandoah Valley RR, formerly operated by the BB, and now by the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley RR, is also welcome. Attachments are not permitted on the list for virus protection. Photos of the Buckingham Branch, CSX, and Amtrak overhead trains are welcome, and may be posted in the photos section of the group.
