I have spoken to Shawn Noe and Sally Small today, and there is still a possibility the Visitor's Day might happen on May 17Th.

Bill Ferrel has reserved May 24Th (as pointed out by Shawn) which is our backup plan, pending Sally's final discussion with her contact.

Please bring your Guest List tomorrow, just in case Sally is successful in getting us a room in the SNC Science Building.

Thanks to Shawn and everyone who has worked on getting us a room. This should be a great event, and we have a PLAN-B if it doesn't work out for the 17Th.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow at 8:15 AM at the Bonanza building!

We were not successful at finding a venue for May 17th. We will have to push the date back a week to May 24th and use a large conference room available at First American Title... Bill Ferrall had us penciled in on that date and will firm up that reservation. By tomorrow everything should be set as far as the location and date, I will then modify the invitation letter and send it to you so we can start printing letters for our guests.

We can talk about the other logistics at the meeting tomorrow.

Andrea... If known, could you send me current statistics that go into the invitation letter? i.e Number of chapters, number of referrals, $ business generated.

Good Morning All,

Just a quick note regarding our up coming coordinated visitor's day.

We have set the date for our visitors day on Thur May 17th meeting. This assumes we can find a larger venue on that date and time. Location ideas for a larger room are welcome and can be directed to Shannon, Virva, and myself.

As discussed last Thursday, everyone's homework assignment is to compile a quick list of 30-40 names of businesses and professionals you would like to see join the group. Don't over think this part. The names on the list are not as important as HAVING the list (you don't have to know them already either). If you find it is difficult to come up with names just thumb through your rolodex or the yellow pages. I was able to put a list of 25 together in about a half hour of going through the yellow pages and will complete my list before the Thursday meeting. Try to write down as much information as possible... Business name, individuals name, address, and phone. I know sometimes not all of this information is available, and mailing and physical addresses can be different in Incline, but for now lets just get the list. We will be calling and sending invitations to all the names on the lists in the coming weeks.

I have included the BNI visitor's day handbook for your reference. Page 5 has a sample invitation letter we can use and we could shorten a meeting in order to take time to stuff envelopes.

The sanctioning of our BNI group may hinge on this membership drive effort... lets try to make it as successful as possible. In the past our guest days where not fully coordinated and relied on the individual. I think this group exercise will be much more efficient and help concentrate our efforts. We know BNI works as a business development tool... we have seen referrals increase just with the 9 full time members we have now. Even if only 2 or 3 people off each of our lists come to find out more about BNI we could have 20+ guests and double our membership. I think we would then find our group would continue to grow and the business referrals would more than double.

Linda and Dennis Nerstad attended the BNI Leadership Makeup session in Reno last Friday since they were unable to attend this Thursday's training session. Dennis and Linda both shared with me how beneficial they found the training.

We are now into April and time is running short to meet our BNI membership quota. We have received two new applications but we need more to make this happen by May 1, 2007. Our last couple of meetings have been great as we settle into how BNI can grow our businesses, and we have a great group of people who work well together.

Please remember to ask associates and business contacts to visit our next meeting and consider joining our group. We also need to schedule Andrea to provide leadership training to the group. April 12Th was proposed for this, and I will present this to Andrea as well.

We did have a visitors day in February, but we need to make another attempt, since visitor attendance was low. Shawn Noe of AG Edwards plans to contact Andrea to get her input on making this a successful event.

Please feel free to have interested prospects visit www.sierratech.org/bni.htm (or just www.sierratech.org and click on the BNI link). The purpose of BNI and local Incline Village Chapter (PRE-CORE) information is there.

We had a great meeting on March 08, and would like to thank Shannon Pisano for visiting our "Pre-core" group.

Shawn Noe did an excellent job with his 10 minute presentation, which everyone found very enlightening.

on an "Off-topic" subject, I spoke with Rockwood Inc. Tree Service in King's Beach (whom I had to have out to my property to address an emergency fallen tree stuck on an adjacent tree, threatening the new construction next to my house). Rockwood Inc. responded immediately, sending out an estimator (Beth) within one hour of my call.

In my discussion with Beth, I found her very community minded and she is holding a Tree Protection education seminar at Crosby's April 27TH (I will forward more information when I receive it). After she announced this to me I talked with her about BNI and she was very interested, and felt their was a lack of Business Networking in Incline Village. When I receive my invoice, she will be sending me her email and contact information to be added to our list.

Hopefully, she will be attending Thursday's meeting (March 15TH). I found Rockwood Inc. diligently responsive and they took action immediately, due the scope of the hazard we were facing. I would recommend them to any contractor (excavation) or resident, due to the impression of their response.

Monday nights are taken with business calls at 5 PM; 6:30 PM; 8:30 PM. Mandays are very hard for us. Wasn't there another day of the week that they are doing training?

Remember that Dennis and I will not be attending tomorrow's BNI meeting. We have an all day conference in Reno. I am trying to get a substitute to do our 60 second commercial!!! Shawn has the sign in sheet. He can give it to me the next day so I can tabulate it. I will make sure that either he or Mark has the card box with the referral slips. Encourage people to "officially" write out their referrals before or during the 60 second commercials and then distribute them with the club copy put in the box. (I am starting the month of March to keep them logged so my VP report will include where we stand on referrals and BNI Bucks earned.

On another topic....I do not think that our DVD/CD drive works on the desktop, for the new Microsoft office will not boot. Is this something you can test or should I contact Andrew?

Also, I have 5 days left on the Norton anti-virus for our desktop. What program did you install as an anti-virus on our laptop and how do I get it before this runs out. You said not to renew our subscription--something was better.

Thanks for everything. Praying for Joyce's procedure today. How did it go?

I wish to thank Andrea Boyd for running today's meeting using the official BNI Agenda, which we will be adopting for our PRE-CORE group hence forth. I would also like to thank Karen Nichols and Sherry Smith, our two visitors, for attending today's meeting.

There was much discussion on how we can accommodate those who have difficulty making the meeting by 8:00 AM due to previous commitments. Since we are a small group, and not yet chartered, we have the flexibility to change our start time easily. It was presented to the group to consider changing our starting time to 8:15, in-lieu of 8:00 AM, and this suggestion seemed to be enthusiastically accepted. This will also allow BNI Rotary members to arrive on-time to our meeting, and possibly open doors to those in Rotary who have not joined due to time conflict.

Starting February 15, 2007 our network portion of the meeting will begin 8:15 promptly. Since we are still a small group, it is planned to limit our meeting time to 1-hour in duration.

Today we began to start our 10-minute presentations, and will be rotating each week giving everyone (who have submitted applications) the opportunity to give a presentation. This gives PRE-CORE applicants the opportunity to educate the rest of us more about your business and services provided.

We also began to appoint officers to comply with a normal BNI chapter, and this process is still "on going". A list of officers will be published as soon as all positions are filled.

We extend special acknowledgment to both Mark Case and Bill Ferrall as our newest members who have submitted applications and accepted by the membership committee. Mark and Bill had a "Dance Card" and developed a strategic difference between their businesses, so both can participate as members. I wish to congratulate you both, for hammering this out, because you both are valued members of our small community and highly thought of by everyone.

Ms. Andrea Boyd will be mailing me documentation which I will convert to PDF and distribute to the mailing list. This includes new agenda, and list of officers.

Remember New Meeting Times:

Thursdays, 8:15 AM Networking begins

Our meeting will start promptly at 8:30 AM

Shawn, can you update the Bonanza Calender to reflect this change?

First Linda I want to say what a fantastic job you did this morning
at your visitor's day!  I believe your group will be up and running
in no time now that the momentum is kicking in!

This email will have a lot of information so I hope I don't lose you
too quickly!  Please bear with me...

Following up with the items we talked about this morning:

1. I have attached the flyer for next week's BNI networking event.  I
know you have this already but please pass it along to the rest of
the group again.  For those of you who have indicated that you would
like to attend please contact Willie directly (contact information is
on the bottom of the flyer) and she will reserve spots for you.  This
is a great opportunity to introduce your favorite clients to BNI, you
are welcome to bring anyone you wish as this is an open event for
everyone.

2.  The Truth or Delusion books will be on sale at the event on
Wednesdy.  Everyone who buys a book at the event will have it
personally autographed by the author!  Otherwise, Willie is ordering
more books and I can get them to you in the coming weeks.

3. I have requested additional BNI supplies from Willie and I will
have those in hand Wednesday.  I did give you some of what you needed
this morning, but by Wednesday I will be able to give you everything
I did not have this morning.

4. I spoke with Willie this morning and we agree that it is time for
you to start using the official BNI agenda - including the 10 minute
presentation, leadership team positions and reports, etc. Attached is
the BNI agenda.  I will give you a version that is the same however
in a different layout format that is easier to read.

5. Leadership Team positions - Usually what we do for the established
chapters is set up area-wide leadership team training sessions so
everyone who holds a leadership team position knows what is expected
of them.  I will do a separate training session for your group.
Please let me know when you would like to get together and we will
get you trained.  This will definitely help you catapult you to the
next level.  I have attached a brief description of the LT
positions.  It is an older version and there is more to each position
than what is indicated which will be explained in training.  The
Events Coordinator position is not on this list, but is a relatively
new position that I will also train you on.  If you haven't already
please decide who will fill these roles.  The sooner we can do the
training the better.

6. Speaking of trainings, Willie and I would like to invite all of
you to attend an MSP (Member Success Program) training.  This is a
requirement for all members and usually consists of newer members of
BNI, although veteran members also attend.  This training goes into
the details of what BNI is all about, the policies and procedures of
BNI, helpful tidbits to help you grow as a member and a chapter,
etc.  We hold these trainings twice a month:  the first Monday of the
month (Feb 5th) in Carson City at Grandma Hatties 6pm, and also the
second Friday of the month (Feb 9th) in Reno at the Black Bear Diner
at 7am.  You are welcome to attend either of these and believe doing
so will again move you in the right direction in establishing your
group as an official chapter.

That is all I have for now.  Please forward this email to the rest of
the group, as well as your two visitors this morning and from
previous meetings.

Bob, I do hope that your wife will be feeling well soon.  You are
both in my thoughts and prayers.

I've attended the last two BNI meetings having just arrived in the area with my husband. I am very much enjoying making new connections here.�

Here's something I've organized for two dear Mauri friends of mine that will be visiting from New Zealand. They run a non-profit organization called Rich Earth Alliance and I have volunteered to co-ordinate and help spread the word about their visit which will be in mid-December. They are offering some wonderful programs while they are here in the Tahoe area, including a presentation in Incline Village and a workshop in Squaw Valley. Not to be missed!

Today we held our first Meeting at the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza Bldg.
Conference room, which is a great facility.  We will continue to meet
here unless you receive an email indicating a change of venue on a
given Thursday (The Bonanza Newspaper staff  might schedule something
on a Thursday morning and if a conflict occurs, we will all meet at
Diablo Funding Group as the alternate meeting location).

Virva Porcelli summarized her Nov. 2, visit to the Carson City BNI
Chapter.  She observed the power of an active BNI Chapter, and its
dynamic atmosphere. The Carson City Chapter has around 30 members,
which exercises the BNI agenda at a very fast and concise pace.
Virva recommended others to take the opportunity to visit a chapter
to witness how a real BNI Chapter functions and why it works. Thank
you to Linda Nerstad for organizing this visitation.

We also wish to thank Rachel Flower (from SENSSOMA) for visiting our
Pre-Core group. Ms. Flower was very excited about the prospects of
the group.  Rachel has asked to be added to the BNI Incline Village
Yahoo Group, and our email list. We look forward to Ms. Flower's
contribution to the group as we continue to grow our membership from
pre-core status.

For those of you who would like to join the Yahoo group but not quite
sure how to accomplish this, please send me an email, and I would be
more than happy to add your name to the group.  Dave Talon (iGrowth
Strategies) suggested we have a live demonstration at our next
meeting of how to use Yahoo Groups, so everyone can see first hand
the benefits of using Yahoo Groups. I will see if I can arrange a
demonstration that can be presented properly to a group.

BNI Members....I have heard back from many of you regarding whether or
not you can attend the Carson BNI this Thursday morning.  We only want
to go if those of you who have never seen a quality group in action,
can make it.  So far, Virginia said no; David said no; Shawn yes;
Dayton yes; Nerstad's yes.

What I need before the end of TODAY is a response from Linda and Terry
Pitman, Mark Case; Dawn and Patrick Walton; Bob Rappaport; Nancy
Hutchinson; Virva Porcezan and Tim Lampe.  Then I can contact Carson
and they will make the necessary arrangements with the restaurant.
