This group's purpose is to promote the formulation and ratification, by all respectable cycling organizations, of one standard, succinct document for teaching and immortalizing the basics of bicyclists' rights and duties. Such document shall 1) have as its sacred core, the principle that a bicycle is a vehicle and that therefore a bicyclist has the same rights and duties as any other vehicle operator, and 2) be sufficiently simple (i.e. one page or less in its entirety, and in laypersons' terms) to be likely to be read by everybody from "Joe 6-pack" and his children, to the road-governing establishment.

This is the non-locality-specific sister group to SusquehannaCountyWheelmen, which was the original ratifying club (in 1990) of the Tom Frost Bicyclists' Rights Triad (a document posted at the link below with minor improvements in 2003) and sponsor of The Last Bike Ride Out of the 20th Century (an event in which the official freight - the Triad's sacred core, also the core principle specified above - was the world's last word delivered into the 21st century by bike). Therefore, an important reference during our discussions shall be the Triad.

Another, equally-important reference shall be John Forester's www.JohnForester.com way of stating the core principle: "Cyclists fare best when they act and are treated as drivers of vehicles."
