Two bits about globalization:
I totally agree with all of you.
globalization:

Þ Globalization has brought in its wake liberalization and
privatization as well.
The market dynamics have so changed that from being a
monopolistically competitive economy ,India has gone on to become a
market having perfect competition.

Now,every player be it national or international , is placed on a
level playing field.

Þ This has,in turn reduced bureaucratic red tapism and improved
the quality and the choice of goods and services that are available
to the consumer.

Companies in a bid to remain competitive ,are using total quality
management including 6 sigma methods to effectively utilize their
resources while focusing on increase in both their top line and
bottom line.

The consumer has become king and from being a sellers market ,
today , India has become a buyers market.

Þ The advent of globalization has heralded India into the big
league from being a largely agrarian economy to being a techno savvy
service oriented economy.

Þ Our IT and ITES sectors so also our biotech sectors have got
the much needed fillip only because of globalization.

Þ We have seen unparalleled achievements in business be it the
issue of ADRs and GDRs by reliance ,or the listing of major software
bigwigs like infosys and satyam on the nasdaq.

Þ Technology has improved manifold and with the advent of the
MNCs and TNCs
a structure and organization has come about in the way Indian
companies do business .

Þ Mergers, acquisitions ,vertical integration are all in vogue
now.

Þ The birlas, the ambanis ,etc have even made overseas
acquisitions.

But,there is a flip side to all this.

Þ Globalization has been perceived by many 3rd world countries
as being the new version of colonization of the 3rd world countries
by the the developed nations of the world what with American
companies like nike and adidas having sweat shop like factories for
making shoes in laos,Vietnam and Cambodia.

Þ Also veritable dumping of goods of an inferior quality from
around the world
Has increased due to the free trade agreement.(china,Taiwan etc)

hi guys,

we need to prepare for G.D.s and its not always possible to meet up
at some place and discuss so why dont any of us post a new topic each
day and all of us reply to it throughout the day.

at the end of the day (after a particular time say 8 pm or so,we can
then write each of our conclusions and inferences.that way we can get
a lot of information from each other in a short time and this will
certainly help us.what do you think?

if interested,

here's the topic

Hi cn pr
It is not advisable to leave ur job nd do ur prep'tion
, as practically speaking u have got the habit of
working nd not sitting nd stding. So for some say week
or so u will feel very kool in studind but later u get
bored out.
Also u have stated getting the habit of Earning so u
will feel the pinch of it.Take out some time 3/4 hrs
per say nd do ur studies. Before 2 months take 2months
off nd start doing full time as it is the very crutial
time.Dont do it now.

Thats my point of view.

Adopt a Good Preparation Strategy

Management exams are a test of elimination and not selection. This
means that knowing the subject matter is not good enough. The mind
has to be sharp to comprehend and respond to questions and situations
faster than others. So, exam preparation is a mix of both, gaining
knowledge and mind training. The only way to get to that is hard work.

The exam is as much a test of knowledge as it is of speed, since a
typical exam would frame over 175 questions to be answered in 120
minutes. This gives a candidate less than 45 seconds to read,
understand and attempt a question. It is indeed a tall order by any
standards. To compound matters, some institutes penalize wrong
answers with negative 0.25 points. This makes guessing through the un-
attempted part of the paper rather risky.

It is important to clear basic concepts before practicing speed
skills. Elementary high school books are a good way of making a
beginning. Another factor that needs to be kept in mind is that all
sections of the exam carry a weightage. Hence, trying to gain mastery
in one area neglecting others is never a good policy. Balance
preparations to gain comfort in all areas of the examination.

The first step towards the preparations involves going through high
school basics thoroughly. Devote a month to brushing up the basics.
For this, use old school textbooks or borrow from someone. If you
subscribe to a regular postal MBA preparation course, books would be
provided with the study material.

The second step of the preparation requires a student to take tests
of half-hour duration, consisting of 40-45 questions each. A score of
30 (after deducting negative points) should be the target. Take these
tests in each of the four sections. Refer back to the tests and try
to remember the mistakes made so that they can be avoided next time.
This stage would take you around 8-10 weeks, depending on the time
you devote to the preparations.

The third step involves taking two full-length (two-hour) sessions
consisting of all sections. Adhere to the time limit since that is of
essence. Scores initially may not be very encouraging, but with
practice, there would be a perceptible increase in scoring. A net
score of 125 or its whereabouts should be the target.

Do the tests under test conditions, not over-shooting the time limit?
Ask your friends/relatives to supervise you. Avoid the temptation of
looking at books and notes. With days to go before the entrance
exams, a well-rounded practice and training drill can ensure success.

currently studying in IIIT Hyderabad..so it is
possible that my views will appear prejudiced to you.

IIIT B is focussed entirely on pg courses and in this
regard is very unique. The quality of education at IIIT
B has been praised very much by the students studying
there. The best part of IIIT B is the extremely close
relationship it shares with many companies..companies
like Intel,Verizon,Cisco apart from the usual gaggle
of Indian software companies recruit from IIIT B.

I have also heard a lot of praise about the director
of IIIT B and the level of effort he has put into make
IIIT B a better institute.

If you are interested in technical stuff and are
interested in working in the IT field for some
time...then IIIT B is your best bet.

1) four cities A,B,C,D are located as shown in fig.what is the maximun number of ways In which one can start at a city and come back to the same city, traveling on each route not more than once?

                                                            a

                                                            d

                       c b

2 A was counting his fingers starting with thump as one, index fig as two,so on,then backwards with ring fig as six to thump as nine, then index fig as 10, and so on

If A counted 1995 which fig would he have ended on?

Read the LOGIC

One day when Mike was reading, James came by...
JAMES : Mike, how is your MBA preparation ?
MIKE ; Everything is fine, but I can't understand
Logic.
JAMES ; Logic is very easy.
MIKE ; Can you give me an example., so that I can
understand.
JAMES : Ok, do you have fish pot in your house.
MIKE ; Yes.
JAMES : Logically, there will be water in it., right?
MIKE : Yes.
JAMES ; Logically, there will be fish in it , right?
MIKE ; Yes.
JAMES ; Logically, someone will be feeding the fish,
right?
MIKE : Yes.
JAMES : I would guess that your wife will be feeding
the fish.
MIKE ; Yes.
JAMES : So, logically, you are married.
MIKE ; Yes.
JAMES : So, logically, you are not homosexual.
Mike was very glad that he understand Logic now.

The next day, Mike meets Mark, who also happens to be
preparing for
the
MBA.
MIKE ; How is your MBA preparation.
MARK : Everything is fine except for the Logic.
MIKE ; Oh, Logic is easy. James explained it to me
yesterday.
MARK : Please give me an example.
MIKE : Do you have a fish pot in your house?
MARK : No, I don't.
MIKE : Then, you must be a Homosexual !

A sardarji goes for a job interview in an office.

The interviewer starts with the basics. "So, Mr, can
you tell us your age,
please?" The sardarji counts carefully on his fingers
for half a minute
before replying. "Um ... 22." The interviewer tries
another straightforward
one to break the ice. "And can you tell us your
height, please?" The
sardarji stands up and produces a measuring tape from
his handbag.. he then
traps one end under his foot and extends the tape to
the top of his head. he
checks the measurement and announces, "Five foot two!"
This isn't looking
good so the interviewer goes for the real basics;
something the he won't
have to count, measure, or lookup. "Just to confirm
for our records, your
name please?"
The sardarji bobs his head from side to side for about
fifteen
seconds, mouthing something silently to himself,
before replying,
"Gurpreet!" The interviewer is completely baffled at
this stage, so he asks,
"What were you doing when I asked you your name?" "Oh,
that!" replies the
sardarji," I was just running through that song,
'Happy birthday to you,
happy birthday to you...Happy Birthday dear
Gurpreet...happy birthday to
you...'.

A man joined a big Multi National Company as a
trainee.
On his first day, he dialed the pantry and shouted
into the phone :
"Get me a cup of coffee, quickly!"
The voice from the other side responded: "You fool,
you've dialled the
wrong extension! Do you know who you're talking to ?"

"No" replied the trainee.
"It's the Managing Director of the company, idiot!"
The trainee shouted back: "And do you know who YOU are
talking to, you
IDIOT ?"

"No!" replied the Managing Director indignantly.
"Good!" replied the trainee and put down the phone.

Prez Bush and his pigs

As the President is getting off the helicopter in
front of the White House,
he has a baby pig under each arm. The Marine guard
snaps to attention,
salutes, and says: "Nice pigs, sir."
The President replies: "These are not pigs, these are
authentic Texan
Razorback Hogs. I got one for VP Cheney, and I got one
for Defense Secretary
Rumsfeld ."

The Marine again snaps to attention, salutes, and
replies, "Nice trade,
sir."

I think the child is right !!

In some remote village of india, one masterji is
teaching the Mahabharat katha to a class. He is at the
'Krishnajanma' part of it.

Masterji: "To bachcho, Kansa heard the akashwani that
his sister's 8th child is goin to kill him. He was
furious. He ordered to put Vasudev n Devki behind the
bars. First son is born, and Kansa kills him by
poisoning. Second one is born n Kansa thorws him off
the mountain peak. Third one is born.."

Now Ramu who is smartest of the lot puts up his hand
Masterji (sounding nervous n confused) : "Ramu bete,
whole India does not have doubt in Mahabharata n how
come u have one?"

Ramu Beta : "Masterji, if Kansa knew that Devaki's 8th
child was goin to kill him, why the hell did he put
Vasudev n Devaki in same cell?"
