Description

The Coos Bay Rail Link is the newest shortline railroad in Oregon, with a rail line that is approximately 111 miles long, traversing portions of Coos, Douglas and Lane Counties. The Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) opened the Line from Eugene to Marshfield (now know as Coos Bay) in 1916. SP sold the Line on December 31, 1994 to CORP, who operated it until September 2007. CBR acquired the line from CORP in 2009, and now also owns the line from Coos Bay to Coquille after Union Pacific donated that segment in exchange for escaping liability to remove the bridge at Coos Bay, should the railroad ever be abandoned.

This group is a place to ask questions about the CBRL railroad, post sightings or railfan adventures or discuss the latest news.

The American Association of Railroads (AAR) has assigned CBR as the identifier for Coos Bay Rail Link, a railroad organized by the Port of Coos Bay upon successful acquisition of the Coos Bay branch from the Central Oregon and Pacific (CORP).
