Re: [CHICAGOTRANSIT] OT A voice is gone

I have to admit that all of these places sound great but I am going to throw in Tony Packo's in Toledo for one of the best.  The place became indirectly famous during MASH and Klinkger who mentioned Packo's.  Their foot long dog smothered in chili and a freh bun is outstanding.  There are a number of Packo's in the Toledo area but the original is still the best.  It is close to the river just north of the 280 bridge.  Last time I was there they had a live Dixieland band on the stage.

Superdawg is still going strong and the original owner is still alive
to boot (he started the place in 1948). His son runs it and they are
actually planning another location (they already have something at
Midway Airport). They added some car canopies some years back.

There is a discussion group for Chicagoland eateries called the LTH
forum (don't ask me why the name). Hot dogs and such are a frequent
topic (my fave is still Gene and Jude's on River Road).

There are pages and pages of discussion about Five Guys Burgers and
Fries and other sundry subjects. There are some gourmet hot dog
joints in the city but some may be a bit pricey.
