I'm sure you are all aware by now that at this meeting Sandy will
attempt to change the constitution for the worse. She hopes that the
new executive board will eliminate all shop stewards except for the
most craven. She's hoping to shred every ounce of democracy that we
still retain. I'll be outside of the building handing out a flyer
with just some of the changes that she hopes to make. Anyone who
wishes to join me is welcome. We need to vote it all down but we also
need to stand up to her if she prevents anyone from speaking. We
should collectively be outraged at her lack of democracy and say so.
Everyone is entitled to speak. Last meeting the mike was gabbed by
one of Sandy's supporters preventing Myra from finishing her thought.

I'm also sure that we all must be aware that no contract is
forthcoming. Let's not be shy. Changes don't come to those who are
quiet.

Hope to see everyone there. Carol

Little Miss Tucker set on a tuffet.

Eating her curds and whey.

Along came a rival,

And set down beside her.

This frightened Miss Tucker away!

All around the Mulberry bush

Sandy chased the Gittlesons,

Sandy thought it was all in fun

POP! Goes the Gittlesons.

Pennies for taxes,

Pennies for dues.

What does Sandy have to lose?

That the way our money goes

POP! Goes the Gittlesons.

Up and down the City of New York

In and out of the Eagle.

That the way our money goes

POP! Goes the Gittlesons.

1/2 for DC37 and 1/2 for Local 384.

That's the way our money goes

POP! Goes the Gittlesons.

At least have a say for your dues - vote no to the new constitution.

Hey diddle, diddle,

The board & Ms. Tucker will fiddle,

They're all so happy they're over the moon.

They all did laugh,

To use the Gittlesons for such sport,

And now if we let them, they'll be the ones to call the tune!

Monday is your choice,

to let them hear your voice!

I'm assuming you'll be there on Monday but I was wondering if others from your school will be as well.  The most important thing we can do right now is stand up for ourselves.  Please introduce yourself on Monday, I'm looking forward to meeting you.
All the best, Carol

Hello

This morning i got a visit from my shop stewards with a letter from sandy tucker saying i was on my computer at work for personal reasons. Translation., She knows if i go onto  yahoo   and she is assuming I'm talking with one of you regarding the upcoming meeting.

now I'm not sure if this is legal. aim going to look into that. I'm going to call the legal dept for DC 37 within the next 2 weeks.  I would never open anything union related at work.
so for the time being i need you to take me off your mailing list b/c right now i need to use  yahoo from work,

ms "tucker" knows we communicate via yahoo. she either has your email checked  and knows who you speak with or she is doing that to mine. she is really angry at me for the letters I've written. I'm going to get a different email very soon. if you need to contact me I'll give you a number to do just that. but, as i said before, please take me off your email temporarily until i find out if what she is doing is legal. she never said I was talking to you. she did the same thing to someone else at QCC today. Fortunately we have great shop stewards here at QCC.

looking forward to meeting you next week.

Ann

I work at City College.  I thought we could meet a week before the meeting rather than on the day of it.  We should present some kind of united front and talk about how we will approach their undemocratic behavior towards us because of course they will feel threatened.  So if  people would like to meet let me know.  Carol

we had our meeting last week and i believe we will have a decent turnout from QCC as well as Queens College. trying to get together before the actual meeting would be really difficult for us in the library. I don't remember which college you work at, would you refresh my memory please.

Hi Ladies,

I am taking a class with secretaries and part timers from the BOE.  The secretaries are in the UFT union and the part timers are in DC37.  A different local from ours.  I was told by more then one part timer that the president of their local comes to their school (all the schools throughout city) and meets with each person individually once a year.  Not as a group but individually to see what is going on.  Also on a monthly basis they visit each school.  When I thought about it I remembered that as a part time (I was part time for two years) Joan Reed coming to the campus about once a year.

I guess my question is --- how come Sandy Tucker doesn't do this?  I am sure there are more part timers in the Board of Ed then secretaries at CUNY.  What is she actually doing with her time.

Lucille
