Japan and the United States have revealed a comprehensive plan for joint action on clean energy technology research to reinforce a meeting between President Barack Obama and newly-elected Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on Friday.

Both countries signed a Japan-United States Clean Energy Technologies Action Plan which covers the crucial clean energy areas of carbon capture and storage, energy efficiency and the smart grid.
