Organizations with the best chance to succeed and

NEW Links to Resources

The most exciting event to occur at About HR recently
is the addition
of a “NEW” button to our Subjects tool. Now you can
visit any Subject
category and see immediately any link that is NEW
within the past two
weeks. To celebrate this extra functionality for you,
my readers, I have
added a number of new resources spread throughout many
of the Subjects.
I especially focused, this week on expanding the
resources in
“Performance Management.” As always, I link only the
best material available on
the Web. I think you’ll really like this new feature!
It will save your
most precious resource…time.

---------------COMMUNITY CONNECTION FORUM------------

Communication; What People Do Amazes Me!

A reader says, “it frightens me that folks use email
as a form of
avoidance of confrontation and human contact. I will
not allow my managers
to discipline through email. That is totally
ridiculous. So if they need
my help, which they are required to do, they do have
to have that
face-to-face contact with their employees on
discipline, annual appraisals…”

Remember, you don’t have to join to vote, and I’d

---------------WHAT’S NEW!-----------------
Dear People,

Since the U.S. Thanksgiving is coming up this week
(November 23), many
of you will be home for a long weekend. Consequently,
I’ll send you a
newsletter that will be more for your enjoyment than
for your work about
mid-week. You can take it home over the weekend, and
enjoy without
feeling guilty, as if you’re taking time away from
work!

For my growing worldwide audience, and my Canadian
friends as well,
this edition will still be worth your time, just a bit
different from the
usual.

In case you were unaware, reprint rights to all of the
articles I
feature at About HR are available. Several
organizations have already taken
me up on this. Just send email for the details.

Thanks for reading. I am always interested in your
feedback. What can I
do to make this newsletter and the About HR site
better serve your HR
needs? Together, we can create a site that effectively
serves the
information needs of the forward thinking Human
Resources community.

Hello, everyone! I just wanted to go ahead and send
this msg. out while I had it on my mind to do so --
AND so that everyone can record our next meeting date
on their calendars NOW, before January's calendar
fills up with other stuff!

Today's meeting went rather well, and so we have
decided to meet again in January and invite folks from
other churches to participate! For those of you who
couldn't make today's meeting for whatever reason have
another chance! :) I also hope to get a preliminary
set of notes typed which give a brief synopsis of what
was covered at today's meeting and send that info out
to everyone prior to our next meeting.

We will be meeting again on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 10,
2001 at 1pm at the BRAND NEW MUST SMYRNA BUILDING
located off Pat Mell Road and Old Concord Road, behind
the Eckerds on South Cobb Drive which is right across
the street from Cobb Centre (where Richs and the Kings
Cinema are located). I will provide more complete
directions AND a phone number to MUST SMYRNA as we get
closer to the meeting date.

We hope to see you all there -- and if you have any
other contacts within the faith-based community in
your realm of influence, invite them to come as well!
One of the important points that was discovered was
that by us meeting, we learned more about some of the
resources that are out there to help the disadvantaged
than we knew existed -- and I am sure that you and
your contacts can add to that knowledge base at our
next meeting!

See you in January -- and have a BLESSED Thanksgiving
and Christmas Season!

=====> MEETINGS, EVENTS, JOB LISTINGS, ETC. <======

As you know, we are moving most of our information
over to our new Virtual Network forum with eGroups.
To access the Virtual Network, you MUST subscribe.
This is because people are posting their resumes and
other personal information, and we want to control who
has access to the forum. To find out more about the
Virtual Network and to sign up, please visit this
link:

   http://www.egroups.com/group/Cobb_Career_Site

For those of you who do not wish to either join or
move your membership to the Virtual Network forum on
eGroups, we still have our Communities forum, where
ANYONE can post messages and other info. (You CANNOT
send email attachments, however). You can access the
Communities Forum at this link:

http://unofcobbgacar.community.everyone.net.

Please take advantage of these resources to keep
yourself informed of upcoming events. However, we
also hope YOU will in turn share your information with
us as well by posting info to our forums as you know
of "happenin" events! Thanks for your cooperation.

PS: There are two items of importance you need to be
aware of - one is posted on the site, the other I will
post soon. The first is the GA WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
CONFERENCE Dec. 12 & 13th. The other is a
Brainstorming session for the SW COBB FAITH COMMUNITY
Nov. 20th 9:30 am at Milford Church of GOD. If you
want more info on the Nov. 20th meeting, please send
me a note and I will fill you in on the details, as
well as checking the community forums frequently for
updates!

=====> THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! <=====

Again, thanks for your patronage. If I can be of
further assistance, please let me know. If you need
anything distributed through the network, send me a
note and I will send it out to everyone on our
database.

Take Care and have a BLESSED WEEK, everyone!

Regards and Highest Blessings,

=====> WHAT'S NEW SINCE NOVEMBER 10, 2000 <======

(For more detailed info about each of these areas,
please check out the similarly-named section of the
Cobb Career Site homepage at
http://www.cobbcareersite.com)

~The Big news is: WE ARE MOVING THE VIRTUAL NETWORK TO
EGROUPS! Due to the administrative burden of managing
the Virtual Network, it has been decided to utilize
eGroups to facilitate the Virtual Network. I will be
sending out a separate message to attempt to answer
ALL YOUR CONCERNS regarding the Virtual Network's move
and how it will impact YOU, our participants. In
short, I will say this: Using eGroups, which is part
of the trusted YAHOO! family, will SIGNIFICANTLY
ENHANCE the network in numerous ways. Plus, your
information will be kept confidential and WILL NOT be
released to others without your consent! If you have
any questions after having read my Q&A message on the
switch, please email me at kgrosskurth@....

And a special note for those of you who have made the
switch already: Thanks for your vote of confidence in
this transition and in the new system, and I
appreciate your trust in the decision to make the
switch! Just know I will do my best to not let you
all down in this area, and I will do my best to make
this service a WIN-WIN for us all! :)

~This is your last week to respond and be a part of
our "Cobb Career Site Seeks Your Feedback" contest.
So far, we have received ONLY TWO LEGAL ENTRIES, SO
YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN either a $10 Borders
Gift Certificate or a $10 Membership in SETA. This is
how serious I am on hearing from YOU, our consumers,
on how we are doing! If you want to review the rules
for the contest, please visit the following link to
read the contest rules:

http://cobbcareersite.terrashare.com/Special/ContestRules.htm

This is a copy for our archives of a fairly recent
write-up by Anne Wolfinger, JIST Works' Quick Internet
Guide Author.

Obviously, this article was written just prior to the
site's "independence" from the LCN, but nevertheless,
I thought you all would be interested in seeing this
info.

Thanks for each of you who have made the site a
success - and special thanks to My Father In Heaven
for making all of this happen!

Subject: Virtual Network Referral: Ann Thomure
kgrosskurth@...
Send Email Send Email

Ann was referred to me by the Lighthouse Career
Network of FBC Mableton. She is, from my
understanding, looking for a part-time or flexible
position in the administrative field. Ann does have
some newly-acquired computer skills with Office
software.

If you have any problems with the attachment, then
please let me know. Otherwise, if you have any
specific questions about Ann, please contact her
directly OR feel free to contact Greg Musgrove at
either (770) 941-6294 or gregm19@....

Thanks again for your support of the Virtual Network
Resume and Information Referral System!

PS: I wanted to clear up some questions about moving
the V. N. to eGroups. One of the questions asked was,
will ALL members receive ALL replies? Well, the
answer to that question is NO, I have set all replies
to go to the list owner address, so any replies will
be accessed from the Cobb Career Site's egroups page.
However, for right now, only SUBSCRIBERS can access
any archived messages or download attachments from the
egroup site. Therefore it is IMPERATIVE you subscribe
if you want to continue to receive info via the
Virtual Network.

To access the Cobb Career Site's egroup page, click on
this link:

Again, I appreciate your support of the Virtual
Network, for this service is directed towards EACH OF
YOU and your needs! kg:)
