Re: [ConrailCorp] Re: 10 long years...
well that following day, i hit the scanner and i heard "NS PG-76" medium
approach, track 1, cp swedeland, out". of course, that's heading west to abrams
yard. right after him, since all trains were seriously delayed, "D&H 557,
stopped, cp norris, out" . that train had two cp sd40-2's, and ONE IBT boxcar!
NS TV-1 came off of setpa's R-6 line, and a few empty stone trains followed
suit. i even picked up RR261 detoured right behind TV-1 approaching CP KING.!!

I think it'd be real nice if everyone on here would post what they were doing
the final day of Conrail. I'll start with mine.
I spent the final day up at Bryan, OH in the evening. The weather was cloudy and
gloomy, with scattered rain showers off on and on throughout the day. I remember
thinking it was fitting weather for what was about to happen. I had gotten there
around 6pm and spent about an hour looking at empty track before a eastbound
train showed up. I ended up seeing about 10 or 12 trains that night before
midnight. I still clearly remember at 12:01am exactly, the scanner lit up as the
dispatcher came on and said "NS Toledo West answering, over". Conrail got signed
off without anyone saying goodbye(at least in the Dearborn dispatcher office at
the Toledo West desk).
