While passing thru Warsaw(IN) spotted pair of NS high nose Geeps
heading up the northbound circus train, around 615 pm Monday 8/29/11. Does
anyone know once the train arrives at Elhart off the Marion branch which way it
will head? I checked the circus website and Chicago's show isn't until Oct.

High nose Geps? Do they still have those?

Any pictures? Was it the great sight I imagine it to be?.

No, unfortunately the train was passing below as I was travelling west on
US30. I was hoping that the train would layover once it got to Elkhart, however
soon learned (thru the Circus train group) a fresh crew was called and the train
passed thru at night on its way top BNSF in Chillicothee,IL.

Related to the track work in Lebanon(IN), CSX is replacing the concrete
PRR bridge over I65. The bridge maybe too far gone for a simple repair, also
passing underneath the structure many a times the road narrows a bit or seems
like it. One half of the bridge itself is gone, the steel decking is still in
place just the concrete is being chiseled away.

Tom, your site is loaded with popups & semi-spam. Any chance of just copying
some of the more pertinent news to their respectable groups, rather than
emailing every last IRRELEVANT group in your email list, where not a single lick
of news exists for those particular roads?

Hello Eric, please tell me more. I am not aware of any pop-ups on it. If you
tell me what pop's up I'll deal with it since the whole idea of this link is to
simply send only one email per month to share all of the news and events I have
sent to me. There should never be any spam, whatsoever. There are NO ads on
the site, just railfan stuff and while some months there might not be a specific
topic such as Conrail, plenty of months there are many subjects covered. The
focus is mostly New York.

I send that simple note so a person has the option to open it and see what news
is there, or not, as they choose.

I enjoy doing this and get a couple hundred positive notes each month, including
all those news items, shows, and occasionally a neat railfan event planned with
short notice. It takes me dozens of hours to organize all this stuff, and email
the messages out, and to avoid becoming spam.

Please let me know if the link acts up, especially with pop-ups/spam so I can
fix.

Next month, I'll look to see if I can find something neat on Conrail!

Rod,

It's not that easy. You're on a Yahoogroup to which Mr. Trencansky sent his
off-topic mass email. The only way to avoid it is for him to stop; you to
unsubscribe (or block his email address?) or have the mod restrict his posting
abilities.

I am tryinig to find out if any of the 5000's were ever equipped with Locomotive
Speed Limiter (LSL)? I do not see any with the tell tail yellow "bee" indicator
on the frame. But I just want to make sure. I do not think they ever operated
(or at least led) east of Selkirk but I would think they would have operated on
the Northeast corridor on Intermodal trains.

Just curious if anyone knows.

Thanks.

They led on the NEC before LSL was mandatory, but not after. In fact, Ricky
Gates' train was a set of 3 B36-7s. They did run east of Selkirk, as they were
cab signal equipped.

No B36-7s were equipped with LSL. They could and did operated east of Selkirk
to Beacon Park, and south on the Riverline to NJ, but could not operate on the
Hudson Line due to plow clearance (3rd rail) and later, lack of LSL, as well.

Subject: Conrail in New York State

I've taken the time to write this note in a professional and non-personal
manner. Once a month, I create an electronic newsletter to promote all the
railroad activity in New York State. I am willing to help promote any rail
organization, any club, any show, any event, any time. I think our hobby needs
that. We need to look forward, be progressive and positive on trains. I
realize that some of the individual postings may not have a specific topic but
the New York Railroads website lists over 200 additional NYS links, many of
which apply to Conrail and other lines. It's a web resource.

I joined this group as a fan that enjoyed Conrail, maybe even "loved Conrail".
I photographed everything Conrail I could find from standing in Sayre PA and
Binghamton NY on the very last day of the LV and EL to all the new operational
changes brought about on April 1, 1976. I've taken thousands of Conrail
photographs, everything from repainted CR units to full Conrail blue and I MISS
the railroad.

I donate my views everywhere. I've had hundreds of Conrail views published,
everything from a blue GG1 to the inspection train to the smallest EMD switcher,
and proud to help anyone, anytime.

If anything, I have been disappointed that this particular list has had very
little Conrail material. If it weren't for the recent posting about New York
Railroads, there has been hardly anything.

The future of New York Railroads is to be inclusive. I and some friends are
creating new pages so other fans can safely railfan locations In NYS. I'd be
glad to help sponsor a page on "Conrail in NYS". I would add content. I would
love to see more Conrail out there, especially in NYS.

Next issue will start out with a Conrail view of in New York State. And, if
anyone on this list has some suggestions for other "neat" web resources on
Conrail, please share them with me off this group at
publicity@... I will see how to incorporate them into a
decent resource. Perhaps a future E-News can feature Conrail.

Remember, once created and added to the web, that site can be there literally
permanently. Send me suggestions?

As I said, there are very few posting on this site and I honestly thought an
email from an NYS site full of interesting links, topics, events, shows, etc.
would be welcome. I'm going to do a posting in a couple weeks and if the
moderator of this list wants to restrict me from posting a once-a-month note
from New York Railroads, I will respect that, but, think it hardly worth
multiple complaints in this group.

I do this for fun. I share my information freely and the fans that share
information with me seem to enjoy helping promote our unique hobby. I'll
continue to do that as long as it remains . . . fun.

Good morning friends,

Is there a source for me to get inspired and informed about a passengeryard.
What was done with the cars after their runs, what buildings/equipment were/was
around the yard for crewmembers, cleaning/maintenance or other personnel? Any
good photo's or trackplans? Article in MR or so?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Good morning,

End of the seventies or in our (Big Blue) terms "early days".
Guess the basics of cartreatment were pretty much the same...

Have a good weekend,

New York Railroads E-News 38 [1-26-12]

Hello friends,

Please check out the latest news and events at
www.newyorkrailroads.com/news. We have uploaded all sorts of information
at <http://www.newyorkrailroads.com> www.newyorkrailroads.com and now link
to over 200 NYS rail-related organizations.

There's several new links as well as updated events including info on the
Amherst Show in Springfield this weekend and the large show near Buffalo
later in February [18th and 19th sponsored by the Western NY Railway
Historical Society]. Please support these organizations!

I do apologize for some cross-postings but there is a lot of new material
each month, new ALCO web for the Heritage Museum, D&H information, and we
are currently working on webpages to share Conrail and WAG information, etc.
I try to send only one email per month and ask to please excuse some
duplication.

Any questions, please contact me via email, anytime and thanks,

Tom Trencansky, Dryden, NY
