I don't know if its been reported yet but I know its been in
Horsehead for at least 2 weeks, I saw it in Mifflin (PA) two weeks
ago and I'm pretty sure I've seen it in Allentown before that in
Horsehead.

With the permission of the moderator of this Yahoo rail group, I
would like to welcome all new members to join our new Juice Train
Enthusiasts group. In this day of fallen flags and tight economic
circumstances for railroads and railroaders, the Tropicana
relationship with its Juice Train(s) is a great 34 year old success
story, sweetened by CSX and its employees' energies to keep and grow
the business.

It is the goal of this group to have a wide scope of interest, both
with the many aspects, such as historical, fallen flags (SCL, SBD,
PC, RF&P, and Conrail) modeling, innovative refrigeration equipment,
former electrified and diesel motive power, and with the wide
operating area geographics, specifically, anywhere the Juice has gone
or is planning to go by rail.

Of course, no good American (or maybe anyone else) likes censorship.
Our goal is to keep the Juice Train Enthusiasts group as
open as possible, with the caveats that we will not tolerate off-
topic posts, abusive or flaming messages, or content which is not
family-rated. So far, moderating new members as we have done in my
other 2 groups has been the only action of a censorship nature
necessary to ban abusive members and their posts.

I hope we can all have some fun sharing photos, maps, files, stories,
questions, and web links, basically anything relating to the Juice
Train(s).

Here is the link to the new Juice Train Enthusiasts group:

This is the third railway enthusiasts group I have founded here on
Yahoo, and I hope it will be both educational and as much fun for
everyone as the other two groups have proven. Both of my other groups
have some common ground with aspects of the Juice Train. You are of
course, welcome to join either of these older groups.

Ok guys, I finally was able to see a black CR gon that was ungaurded by the
gestapo.

I think we had this discussion on this group here maybe several months ago...at
least I hope it was here..LOL

CR 582405 G52D
The stencils indicate gondola was cleaned at Hollidaysburg Car Shops on
10-24-01. The mark used was SRS (Samuel Rea Shops)...so keep an eye out for
that.

Now...the neat part is that the shops were scheduled to be closed in Oct. 2001!
Does anybody here have the date when HCS closed for good? The google search gave
me an STB ruling in the first week of October that supported NS. I have yet to
find the exact closing day.
If any of you RR guys can ask around I would appreciate it.

My theory is that the HCS boys were so ticked, they used the paint they had on
hand (NS black) and just started painting CR cars until the last day for spite.
hehe

Hi Lon,

I believe I'd seen that same gon a year or two back. IIRC, HCS was closed
for good some time in mid-2002...not exactly sure month-wise, but I have the
Altoona Mirror from the final day around here somewhere.

Interesting that they used SRS for the mark.

As seen in Conemaugh, Pa., Sunday evening with a big crowd of fans around
blasting away at the beauty:

Gotta admit, looks really sharp. Freshly-painted sister 7203 was also around
looking nice and shiny...

I didn't send my email out to this group with a brief description
describing the shot so here it is…

BTW: I hate to see the old CR paint go, but the new paint looks sharp on
the units.

*****

Here she is, in service for only 5 days since being painted.
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=75050

The day started off in Southfork a little after 10am yesterday. As the
group gathered, we all waited to see what 7207's next move would be.
After awhile a crew arrived and told us that they would be heading to
Huff as soon as the DS gave them the thumbs up. It wasn't until 12:33
that they crawled passed out clicking shutters at the wye.

TIME FOR LUNCH AT RYANS!

After we were finished eating, it was about time for the northbound
train to be heading into southfork that we had heard earlier in the day.
After spotting the train near St. Micheals, we headed to the crossing at
the wouth end of the wye to see what they would do.

It is now 2:40 and the train is still sitting in crappy light. The
decision was made to head to conemaugh to catch some mainline action and
wait for the MAC's to come through.

By 5:20 there was no coal train with MAC's to be found. But what is
that? It's the 7207 heading back to southfork! They pulled up right next
to us on track 2 behind 10G which was getting a helper set, and stayed
there for 42 minutes, in PERFECT light.

I was hoping I had seen one of the last cars out of HCS....but this may not be
the case if it lasted until 2002.

Usually HCS is the mark...dunno why SRS is subbed....but I have seen it before.

Dave, what he means is the job works out of Altoona...the plant is in Mapleton,

I think many of the locals were moved from Lewistown to Altoona not too shortly
after JVRR took over operations on most of the Lewistown branch trackage.
There, to my knowledge, are no locals operating from terminals between Enola and
Altoona now.

Under excellent afternoon light, albeit on
a hot, humid day, NS 6795 (CR 5557) was the
sole motive power on today's 20A through
Marysville:

Over a month since the computer crashed and we're finally back up and
running with high speed capabilities! I'd like to thank everyone for
being patient with the emails as I'm sure my Yahoo inbox would be an
awful lot more than 1,200!!!

Those of you who have contacted me through my former ISP-
wmconnect.com; that address is no longer available as we now have the
cable modem. wmconnect deleted all of our emails/addresses/favorites
for whatever reason and the company must be run overseas because I
can't get any fluent English speaking people to explain to me why it
was all deleted. With that, I ask one favor... if we ever exchanged
an email in the past PLEASE drop me a simple "hello" email so I can
try to recover addresses! Thanks guys!!

Can someone explain to me why Abrams Yard down in King of Prussia is off limits
to railfans? I just noticed that when I was on railpictures.net.

Matt.

From Eric Augatis (don't know if he's a member here, and if he is, I
apologize for stealing your thunder):

"...might I advise those who hang out at Abrams Yard to lay low for a while.

During a meeting at work this morning, I learned from the NS Police and the
trainmaster @ Abrams about a recent incident.

A gentlemen, no name given, had been out of his vehicle and walking near the
west end of the yard office. Apparently (and unfortunately), he'd passed
out & collapsed, resulting in him knocking his head against "something". The
key words here aren't "terror", or anything like that, but the company is more
interested in why this man was wondering around. Most fans are proper
enough to just stand by their vehicles if they AT ALL get out of them.

I've been told to pass the word that people may likely not be allowed to
park near the "access road crossing" at Abrams any longer, pending
investigation
into why the man was out of his vehicle wondering around company property.
The company, regardless of what people think of NS, has been more than
tolerant with people at this location. Unfortunately for all involved, the
liabilities in this incident may prove fatal for buffing around Abrams, since
there
is really no where else to park.

Just a heads up..."

So it looks like the actions of one asshat cost Southeastern PA railfans one
of their favorite spots. :-(
