Looking for info on the GLC MW locks that MW crews on CR and now NS
use. I've seen them on switches, derails, blue flags, and other
places.
When were they introduced and how widely used are they?
I have three that all take the same key.

Welcome to the group Peter! You can always be sure to stir up a
little conversation when it comes to the merger. Why Conrail did this
or that, why didn't they stand alone, etc. With a little prodding and
opinion throwing you'll stir somebodies attention :)
~Kris
Thanks guys, good to be back even though we lost everything on the
computer. Some of the stuff is backed up, but I lost alot of good
things. Live and learn I guess. Yes, it is ok to send stuff along
again. conrail6055@... is the addy.
~Kris
Backing everything up now!
Is that the one that has the key with a hollow tube and off of the tube
there is a piece that goes at a weird angle and splits (this is the only
way I really know how to describe it)? I have a key for those that I
found probably 20+ years ago in an old desk at a place I was working. I
thought it was interesting and kept it and a few years later saw an
inscription on it "NEO RR". Later I realized that it opened padlocks on
rail property gates, switches, signal relay boxes, etc. Now you don't
see many around.

Got a better look, the 5278 is in the old NS scheme.
(No horsehead or white brow.) Sorry for the error!

You had me wondering there for a minute Tim! I caught her in Enola on
May 3rd of last year in the standard ns paint. I was worried they
dipped her again... thanks for clearing it up though!

Bring back any memories of the chase John? Definately an unpcoming
seasonal sight, that is, minus the U23B and UOR's. Thanks for sharing
a part of CR's past some of us never got to see :)

To All,
Nelson Bowers passed away right after 2:00 p.m. today.
Nelson was a former president of the NRHS. For those who did not know, Nelson
had colon cancer real bad. The plans of right now are to have a memorial service
in Lancaster county sometime soon.

In the last 2 days I've managed to recover almost everything
important I had on the computer. I've recovered 75% of the pages on
the homepage and have waded through over 900 emails. I re-installed
some programs including my FTP for the site so look for any broken
links from images on the last update to be corrected and functional
shortly. My first goal is to bring the locomotive repaint list back
to current conditions along with the solid CR lash up list. A new
photo update is long overdue as well.
Most importantly though is gaining forward momentum with the CONRAIL
Historical Society which I'm devoting all possible time to. For the
naysayers, trust me, I won't let the Society spin in circles. We WILL
have an active Historical Society for Big Blue!

*sitting here in my railroad/computer room at the house listening to
cars go over the hump, retarders squeal, cars hitting standing cars,
locomotives idling, bells clanging, spitter valves spitting... ahhh,
God bless Enola!
When was the photo posted?

Incase you or any others haven't discovered it yet, this yahoo group
( http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/ConrailCorp/ ) is simply the
discussion board for the actual website;

Yes it's true! Believe it or not an independent film company from the
west coast is producing the movie based on the true story! As I find
out more I'll let you know.

I'm curious when the official release of info will be regarding the
Enola Yard 100th Anniversary train rides? We had a tentative date of
April 30 / May 1, 2005 at the last meeting but I haven't heard
anything from the Harrisburg Chapter NRHS who from what I gather is
also helping out with the year long event. I'm amazed ns is taking on
such a positive role with this, as their outlook towards Altoona
Railfest gets bleaker every year.
