This is indeed terrible news, but not at all surprising; given that
the contracted agency then sub contracted the actual management duties
out. Seems to me that the original dooms day service cuts that Mayor
Bing proposed well over a year ago will now likely be carried out.
I also now have to consider that this may be the end to SMART as
well. The service cuts back in December were a direct result of DDOT
cutting back as well, this is really going to paralyze the entire
region. Did Farmington Hills opt out of SMART, I thought that they
had voted to stay in?
I am attempting to find information if this will re-invent the new
RTA that Governor Snyder is proposing, possibly now forcing some type
of merger between DDOT, SMART and AATA to preserve Transit services.
Has anybody heard anything new with this?
