Article Description:
After divorce, the word "dating" scares a lot of people.
If you've been married a long time you probably have lost
track of all the unwritten rules or even how to go about
meeting new eligible people. Many people immediately take
off for the clubs thinking that that is the place they are
going to meet someone. You may meet someone there, but it
depends on what you are looking for. But, if you are looking
for more, this article will help you find your way...

After divorce, the word "dating" scares a lot of people.
If you've been married a long time you probably have lost track
of all the unwritten rules or even how to go about meeting new
eligible people. Many people immediately take off for the clubs
thinking that that is the place they are going to meet someone.
You may meet someone there, but it depends on what you are
looking for.
Assuming that the divorce has left you wondering what to do with
the rest of your life, a trip to the club may be what the doctor
ordered to see what is going on in the world. Don't think,
however, that this is where to find the woman or man of your
dreams, as this rarely happens at the clubs.
Look around you. Who are your friends? Is there someone you think
is attractive but are afraid to ask out on a date?
I have always found that an initial casual non-date is the best
way to break the ice. "Hey I'm taking off for lunch would you
like to join me?" That is a very simple way to break the ice
with someone, in my opinion, and it gives you a chance to see if
this person really is who you thought they were.
Their reaction, whether "Yes I would" or "No I can't" will
tell you something, and then you can take it from there. If the
answer is yes, and you hit it off at lunch - then that simply
no-strings-attached meal will have laid the groundwork for asking
her/him out for a date in the near future.
It's not rocket science. If you are like me, your friends always
have someone they'd like you to meet.
I took the opportunity to meet everyone I could after my husband
died. You never know when the right person might come along. It
often happens when you least expect it and not when you're out
looking for that special person.
The important thing to do when you start dating again is not to
immediately get yourself tied down. In the rare chance that you
do meet the girl/guy of your dreams, then just go for it. That is
a rare event, so take your time and explore your options and meet
a number of people and enjoy the diversity of personalities,
likes and dislikes.
I have been successful in maintaining a few good casual
relationships and enjoy the company of these friends from time to
time. I explore different vacation places, learn from their
experiences and share opinions, desires and goals.
You'd be surprised at how many people have things they'd like
to do, but never did because there was no one to do them with. By
exchanging ideas and dreams and those things in your bucket list,
you may find that you have a common desire to do something or
travel somewhere.
There's nothing better than visiting a place that you've never
been and sharing it with someone who is also seeing it for the
first time. I also enjoy seeing places I never knew I was
interested in but my friend was, and I ended up being pleasantly
surprised with the trip.
So the whole thing about dating again is to keep an open mind and
explore the world, because it is probably all new to you now,
especially after years of marriage.

RoseMary Alberts lives in Florida and has a lifetime of dating
experiences in her rear view mirror. As a young 50-year-old,
she enjoyed the single life through most of her twenties and

Ok the title is a bit over the top but in a round about way it is
true. Many swimming molds live in and swim through the thin film
of water on wet plant leaves and ruin many important crops during
extra wet growing seasons. These molds often have a very negative
effect on agriculture and are directly responsible for the deadly
Irish Potato Famine.
Some make their homes in moist frog skin and cause a deadly
disease that has been decimating frog populations around the
world for several decades now. While others cause a common fuzzy
white growth of mold on tropical fish.
These molds in at least some stages of their complex life cycles
propel themselves through water with the aid of tiny whip like
structures called flagella. Flagella are those long whip like
structures that are found on some cells such as sperm cells and
are one celled plant like Eugenia protozoans which push
themselves through water.
In his book, "The Fifth Kingdom", Dean Kendrick noted
mycologist (mold biologist) discusses three phyla (large
groupings) of swimming molds:
1) PHYLUM CHYTRIDIOMYCOTA
The first group is known as chytridiomycota these are true fungi
and they have a single flagellum at the rear of the cell, this
flagellum propels the mold cell through the water just like the
flagellum at the rear of a sperm cell propels sperm cells. Around
1998, Joyce Longcore determined that a type of chytridiomycete
mold was causing the death of many frogs around the world by
infecting their skin. You may not have heard of it but widespread
frog deaths have been a serious concern for decades now.
2) PHYLUM HYPHOCHYTRIOMYCOTA
The 2nd group that Dean goes on to discuss is the kingdom
Chromista phylum hyphochytriomycota. They have a single hairy
flagellum at the front. Though similar to the above molds, these
are not true molds.
3) PHYLUM OOMYCOTA
The Third group is the kingdom Chromista phylum oomycota, they
seem to be split and cannot make a clear decision on if it is
better to have one smooth flagellum at the rear or to have a
hairy one at the front, so the oomycetes have opted for two
flagella at the side, one of the two is a hairy flagellum that
points to the front and the other is a smooth one that points to
the rear.
Oomycetes make up the water molds that cause many common fungal
infections in fish including tropical aquarium fish, as well as
downy mildew that cause serious crop damage around the world
every year. Most importantly oomycetes caused the Irish Potato
Famine. This famine caused the death of one million Irish people
and caused millions to emigrate from Ireland including the
ancestors of Al McNamara of Abode Inspections, one of America's
first ASHI home inspectors. He was my mentor and introduced me to
the home inspection field in 1993.
Some of the above organisms have a flagellum during its
reproductive state only while a few exist as a single celled
flagellated mold its entire life. Most of the above live in
water, moist soil, or in the thin film of water on wet plant
leaves. A few even live on the surface of single grains of flower
pollen. Obviously, none of the above water molds are common in
moldy homes. However, it is interesting to understand that these
microscopic molds swim and cause serious negative impacts on
humans, plants, and animals around the world.

When A Strong Woman Can Make You A Better Man

Behind every man, there is a strong women.
After my recent split with my girlfriend of two years I have
found myself thinking how much I have changed. At first, I just
thought I was only different around her, but now I seem to be a
totally different person.
Does being in such a serious relationship make a man change?
Obviously spending a lengthy period of time with anyone will
change a certain aspect of your life, whether it be something
trivial, your fashion sense or in my case my masculinity.
I believe I was so infatuated with this woman, and I spent so
much time with her that I actually became "One of the girls".
At first I guess it sounds pretty bad, but really its not. The
easiest way to have an understanding of women is to spend time
with them, hang out with them. You pick up their habits and every
women wants a man to go watch a chick-flick with them, and not
with someone who is going to pretend to be interested.
Picking up a female's habits are really not that bad though, you
might find yourself talking to her about hair and clothes, but
the first thing you will notice is that you actually do take much
better care of yourself, and you have become a lot more polite.
These are the most obvious and the beginning signs that she is
starting to "mold" you.
Whether a women wants to admit it or not, when they are in a
relationship with a man, they see us for what we are and then
they see the potential. They like to change a man to make him
more attractive, for their pleasure and maybe their reputation...
I don't know, but its true.
You will find yourself dressing in clothes that she has picked
for you which "improve" your appearance, but do they? I doubt
that there is one guy out there who hasn't received a bad
present from a partner, the majority of these will be clothes,
matching jumpers, bright shirts, floral patterns and the dreaded
skinny jeans.
I used to be a long haired surfer dude, (who couldn't surf), and
now with the "guidance" of that special lady I have short neat
hair, and I guess you could say I dress preppy. Huge
transformation?
Well I can let you into a secret, most men can - but a lot of us
can't - learn how to say no! Tell her enough is enough, unless
you want to change.
Think of it this way, the A-list celebs we all see on TV don't
pick their own clothes, they have personal shoppers - women they
pay to tell them what to wear! And us the lucky guys have it
free.
I'm not just saying that women control what we wear, they also
control what we eat, our mannerisms and the way we look at other
women. Well done girls!
I can honestly say some women have such power to make a man look
at the floor when a hot women walks into the room! I know this
because I was with a very "powerful" woman.
But if you know how to control it you can avoid it, and another
secret women think we don't know is that they indirectly use sex
as a weapon. Think of that however you might, but it's true.
Women control us, and we let them, and we love them for doing it.
It does make us better people, and we love them for it.
One day women will rule the world, although at the moment it may
be from behind the scenes. Either way, no man will ever be more
powerful, than the woman who made him.

Divorce Think Tank
http://www.divorcethinktank.com/blog/
Too many people feel that it is better to be in an unhappy
relationship than to be alone. We as a society put to much
emphasis on the joy a romantic relationship can bring and not
enough emphasis on being happy with one's self.
What people so often forget is that dating is a means to an end,
marriage.
Dating is not a substitute for true friendships. Relying on one
person for all of your emotional and sexual needs is setting
yourself up for failure. To hear some people tell the story,
dating and romantic relationships are supposed to prepare a
person for marriage - and yet people often begin dating at around
twelve and marry in their late twenties. This leaves far too much
time to date and not take the process seriously.
There is a fundamental problem here.
Relationships in the early teens to the early are treated as
disposable, in fact parents tend to demand that teen
relationships should be treated as disposable relationships. One
is expected to spend large quantities of time and invest many
emotions into a relationship that is never meant to last. This
teaches people that when things get too difficult, just throw it
all away and walk out on the problems that may exist in the
relationship. If it is to hard to stay in a relationship during
the difficulties of high school life, then what will happen
during adult relationships, when the rent is late and one party
loses a job?
Being in a series of one- to three-year relationships does not
prepare a person for real commitment.
Another flaw of the current dating system is the idea of
co-habitation. This is supposed to allow people to "test drive"
their future marriage partner. The problem here is that one
person's idea of the commitment level might differ vastly from
the other's.
Many couples in college decide to live together as a way to save
money and to get sex on a regular basis. This is a horrible idea.
One person might believe that they will marry and live happily
together after graduation while the other sees it as merely
convenient in the moment.
The less committed person is often forced into incredibly
difficult situations. For instance, the less committed party
falls in love with some one else. If he was not living with the
other person, he could simply break off the relationship and
pursue the other prospect, but since he co-habitats he cannot
easily leave. He is therefore more inclined to continue to live
with a person who he will begin to dislike progressively more.
The live-in girlfriend will become confused about why her once
somewhat loving boyfriend has become increasingly distant and the
new love interest might be tempted to forget about the boy purely
because it appears he cannot or will not leave his current
relationship. No one is the better because of this situation, and
it leaves everyone confused and heartbroken.
If the boy had simply been encouraged to not live with another
person until he was certain of his intentions then the whole
situation could have been avoided.
Recently, many people have come up with reasons as to why the
divorce rate is as high as it is. The explanation has nothing to
do with religious beliefs or anything else. It is simple. People
are trained from the time they are preteens and for 15 years
after that to treat their romantic partners as disposable sources
of emotional support and pleasure.
If marriage is to be taken seriously, then dating, the path to
marriage, must be treated with equal respect. If, as parents, you
seek to raise emotionally-stable children and emotionally-mature
adults, then you should encourage your children to take those
teen romances seriously. Teach your children that the childhood
romance should be treated with the utmost respect, just as you
would expect a marriage to be treated with the utmost respect.

Jobs And Paychecks
http://www.jobsandpaychecks.com/
Credit is one of the most fundamental aspects of the financial
structure we have built our society. In fact, a great credit
score can be one of the most valuable assets an individual will
ever have in his or her life.
A young person, just beginning to build a credit rating for his
or herself will often discover that their lack of proven credit
history will be disadvantageous to their goals. Having no
established credit is generally viewed in the same light as
having bad credit, because there is no way to foresee how well
the individual will pay their bills.
Establishing Good Credit
Credit scores are determined by a number of factors. How much
debt a person has, how regularly they pay their bills, and a
history over a seven-year period, are typically the main factors
used in determining a person's personal credit rating. For the
college student, a student credit card can be a great financial
product to help them begin the process of establishing their own
good credit down the road.
College student credit cards provide a variety of options that
can make them more suited for a beginner in the world of credit,
than credit cards designed for more experienced cardholders.
Credit cards, in general, are a very easy concept to understand.
They are like little loans that one will qualify for in advance
and can use whenever they wish. The student can request a student
credit card by filling out an online credit card application from
any major bank, or they can fill out a credit card application at
their local bank.
If a student ever needs to purchase something and they do not
have the cash on hand, they can use a credit card to pay for it
and then pay the credit card company the money back. Having a
college student credit card is like having a kind and
compassionate parent in their back pocket who will agree to any
request the student has for cash.
Most student credit card providers prefer that a responsible
cosigner be listed on the credit card application. In most cases,
this would be a parent or guardian. Having someone with a great
credit score, willing to vouch for the student's ability to
repay any credit balances, is an encouraging sign for any
lender.
The Dangers
A student credit card is obviously a good thing for many reasons.
Many students use their cards for specific purposes only. This
can be an essential item, or they could have it purely for
emergencies.
One classic example is a gas credit card. It is common for
students to use their credit card solely to purchase gas, so they
always have a way of paying for gas when they need it. Other
common choices include groceries and other basic necessities.
This is a very responsible way to handle a credit card. Problems
begin when negative spending habits begin to develop. First,
students begin spending more than they can immediately pay back.
Student credit cards typically offer lower interest rates than
traditional credit cards, but they still charge interest.
Most students are just starting out in life and they are not
quite as responsible as they should be with their credit cards.
They will get a student credit card for emergencies only, but
fail to thoroughly define what they consider to be an emergency.
As time goes by, they might become more inclined to consider a
night on the town with their friends to be an emergency that will
justify the use of a credit card.
Most credit cards have what they refer to as grace periods. This
is a period of time that allows the cardholder a time period
where interest charges do not apply. Grace periods are typically
30 days or until the end of the month of the original purchase.
Different companies have different policies regarding their
credit card grace periods.
Paying off the entire balance every month is the ideal situation,
but there are always situations that will arise that make it
difficult to do so. Paying off what you owe as quickly as
possible is the only way to avoid accruing interest charges that
can easily increase the consumers debt to double the amount of
the original purchase.
Potential Perks
A wise spender can easily manage their finances, so that upon
graduation, a college graduate could have established a solid
enough credit rating to be able to buy a home straight out of
college.
There are many aspects of student credit cards that are designed
to help young cardholders wisely manage their debt. The amount of
interest most people pay is considerable. College student credit
cards are generally low APR credit cards, which means that the
student will often pay a lower APR than someone ten years their
senior.
In addition to low credit card APR rates, there are many Internet
features available for someone with a student credit card. Online
bill pay makes it possible for a student to easily pay all of his
or her bills conveniently. Many companies also offer monthly
reminders to help young people adjust to paying their bills
regularly.
In Conclusion
A college student credit card can help prepare a young person for
the immense financial world that awaits them at the end of their
college careers. There are many potential pitfalls in the
economic world that an untrained eye might miss, but the student
credit card program will teach the attentive student how to spot
and correct these potential pitfalls. Student credit cards can
help prepare anyone for a life in the real world, and help a
student enter adulthood with the good financial sense to make
good financial decisions.

Volatile Organic Compound Levels In The Home

Volatile organic compound also known as VOCs are common indoor
pollutants composed of organic chemicals that evaporate into the
air easily at room temperatures. VOCs often cause chemical odors,
respiratory irritation, headache, and other indoor air quality
related complaints. At certain high levels they can be dangerous.
These chemicals are released by paints, paint thinners, varnish,
new carpets, new cabinets and furniture that contains particle
board, household cleaners and air fresheners, gasoline,
improperly vented combustion devices, photocopier machines,
blueprint machines, and many other sources. All buildings contain
some level of volatile organic compounds, determining what are
normal levels and what are elevated levels is important in
diagnosing a buildings indoor air quality. The following
information gives some idea of what are normal and what are
elevated VOC levels.
Global consensus has resulted in the emergence of preliminary
guidelines or tVOC standards for IAQ (Australian NHMRC, 1993;
Finnish society of IAQ, 1995: Seifert, 1999: Hong Kong EPA, 1999;
Japan MoH, 2000).
Depending on Location (home, school, etc. ), recommended levels
range from 200 to 1300 ug/m3 or about 50 to 325 ppb or .05 to
.325 ppm (Toluene units) or approximately 100 to 650 ppb .1 to
.650 ppm isobutylene units.
By all accounts the IAQ tVOC threshold for normal environments
should not exceed 500 ppb (0.5 ppm) Toluene units, which is
equivalent to 1000 ppb (1ppm) isobutylene units.
Field experience suggests the following guide for the use of PIDs
to assess indoor environments:
Less than 100 ppb or (.1ppm) isobutylene units: normal outdoor
air
100-400 ppb or (.1-.4ppm) isobutylene units normal indoor air
500 + ppb or (.5ppm) + isobutylene units: indicates potential of
IAQ contaminants
Reference RAE Systems Application Note AP-212
In summary the above states that the general consensus among most
experts is that recommended indoor levels of total volatile
organic compounds is .1 to .6 ppm isobutylene units.
Indoor levels above .5ppm isobutylene units indicates potential
contamination and levels should not exceed 1ppm isobutylene
units.
Please keep in mind that the above applies to homes offices and
schools etc. Exposure limits allowed in industrial settings will
be much higher.

How The Internet Has Changed The World...

Jobs And Paychecks
http://www.jobsandpaychecks.com/
As most of us sit down at our computers each day, we might
realize that we have begun to take this Information Age for
granted. What would we do if we did not have 24/7 Internet
connections to keep us connected to the world?
Online Bill Pay
When it is time to pay bills, we logon to the Internet, pull out
our debit cards or credit cards, and then we get to work paying
our bills online. It is no longer the case where we have to sit
down at the dining room table with our checkbook, a stack of
bills, and a book of stamps.
Back in those dark days of the pre-Internet existence, we were
not yet done with bill paying when we licked that last stamp.
Instead, we had to jump in the car and run down to the post
office to get the checks in the mail. If we had paid our bills
close to their deadlines, then we had to sweat whether our
payment would arrive on time. If we were really worried about our
payment arriving at the other end of the transaction on time, we
would take time out of our lunch hour to run to the bill
collector's office to make our payment just under the wire.
Mom Online
Yes, back in those old days, we used to call mom on the phone
once a week to check in and catch up. Now, we can logon to our
favorite Internet chat client or call her on our Internet phone
and talk to mom everyday. We can even share pictures of the kids
with mom through our Myspace accounts.
Online Education
Back in those grand old days, if we wanted to learn something of
value to our lives, we needed to go to the library or bookstore
and check out or buy a book that would answer our questions about
the world around us. It was either that or we had to enroll at a
nearby college and take classes relevant to our interests.
Today, it is much different. Nearly any topic that might be of
interest to us can be learned, after a trip to our favorite
search engines. We might have to pay to gain access to the
information we want, but in many cases, information is handed out
like candy on Halloween, on the Internet.
We could even go further and enroll at a major university online.
We can now take classes and get a degree at our favorite
university or college, even if we live one thousand miles away
from the school.
Local Shopping
Back in the day, in order to find out what great sales were
running at the national chains, we had to subscribe to a
newspaper for the full week and take the time to review the paper
everyday to make sure we did not miss those important sales.
Now, we pop open an Internet browser and navigate to the website
of the chain store we are interested and click through to their
sales circular page. What does Wal-Mart have on sale? Let's go
to their webpage. What about Napa Auto Parts stores? Let's go
their webpage. How about "Ace, the helpful hardware place"?
Let's load up their website. Walgreens --- what kinds of
specials do "they" have this week? We are off to see the wizard,
the wonderful wizard of Oz (also known as Al Gore, the guy who
"invented" the Internet).
Comparison Shopping
Before the World Wide Web, if we wanted to know the "skinny" on a
particular product we were interested in buying, we would need to
ask friends. For an expert opinion, we would need to subscribe to
Consumer Reports, or take our chances by visiting the local store
that sold the product and have faith that the salesperson was not
loading our brains full of commission-biased opinion.
These days, we can go online to learn all about any single
product or service we might be interested in purchasing. Even
better, we can look at a cross-section of products under the same
classification and make an intelligent decision based on factual
research. If we put our minds to it, we could even pull up
customer reviews on the products we want to purchase.
The sky is the limit. We can do as little or as much research as
we would like to do on a single product or service and be happy
with our final decision.
Dig Up In-Depth Product Specifications
Sometimes, we can trust the Sears salesman not to lead us astray
in our purchase selections. It is pretty straight forward as to
which brand of wrenches will give us the best performance over
many years or to find out which 27" television has the best
picture.
But, with other product groups, a cursory glance will not deliver
the be-all-end-all analysis that we need to make intelligent
shopping decisions. Such examples include insurance products or
financial products such as credit cards and loans.
If you have to ask yourself what the difference between a
term-life insurance policy and a whole-life policy, then you need
to get some really in-depth information to make a good purchase
decision. There are insurance websites and information websites
that will pass this kind of information along to you. They may
even let you apply online for a new insurance policy and give you
an instant approval for your new policy.
The same mindset will often accompany your interest in learning
about credit card products. With so many choices and options
available, it is hard to know which credit card offer or credit
card rewards program will be best for your needs.
The beauty of the Internet is that the answer to all of these
questions and more are right at your fingertips.
Credit card offers range from gas credit cards, student credit
cards, low APR credit cards and even 0% interest credit cards.
Among this range of credit card types and special offers, many
banks also offer credit card points in the form of airline miles,
credit card travel rewards, cash-back rewards programs, and store
credit at your favorite chain stores or restaurants.
So, how do you know which credit card will be best for your
needs? All you have to do is to start with a plan as to what you
would like to gain from a credit card, and eliminate credit card
offers that do not match your needs. Then do a side-by-side
analysis of those credit card offers that remain to see which one
will deliver to you the best value for your dollars.
Don't be afraid to dig in and get the facts on any product you
may be interested in buying. I have learned a lot on the Internet
about insurance products, credit card plans, and high-definition
televisions. Even when I had questions that the Circuit City
salesperson could not answer, I was able to turn up that
important information on the Internet.
Longing For The Old Days
No, I don't really long for the old days anymore, except when my
Internet connection is down for more than just a few hours.
If I want to add a credit card to my wallet, I only need to
decide which one I want and then fill out the online credit card
application. If I want to buy car insurance, I can shop around
for the best policy and buy it right then online, without having
to go to an agent's office. If I want to shop for a better price
on my next software purchase, all I have to do is to go to a
shopping website and compare prices.
The Internet has improved the experience of my life
one-hundred-fold, and I do not want to ever have to return to
those days before dial-up. Before I came on the Internet, I did
not even know why I would want to buy more than one type of home
insurance. Now, I sweat if I might miss my payment.
If you take the time to search and research the Internet for the
information that will help you to make better shopping decisions,
you might just find as I have that the Internet is something that
you never want to live without ever again.

Toxic Mold Inspectors Health Effects And Scientifc Literature
Copyright (c) 2009 Daryl Watters
A Accredited Mold Inspection Service, Inc.
http://www.floridamoldinspectors.us/
We have recently seen that some mold inspectors are quoting the
article titled "Indoor Mold, Toxigenic Fungi, and Stachybotrys
chartarum" and other similar scientific articles to support the
belief that toxic molds poison people in their homes. A link to
the article is listed below. It looks as if the article is
stating that toxic molds are very toxic to homeowners or even
deadly. Mold inspectors who hastily review such articles come to
such conclusions because they do not understand what the highly
technical scientific article is talking about. This and other
similar articles on the topic of toxic mold effects are
discussing not what happens when a home owner breathes in mold
spores released by Stachybotrys or other toxic molds. The article
is talking about the effects of toxic mold toxins / mycotoxins
when these toxins are eating in foods contaminated with toxic
molds, or the effects of mold toxins when animals in the lab are
injected with mold toxins directly into the body or nasal
passages. Sometimes such articles site cases where industry
workers were made ill by toxic mold exposure after working around
clouds of organic dust and mold spores for extended periods of
time. Such conditions contain millions of spores per cubic meter
or air as opposed to the hundreds or thousands of spores
encountered in most moldy homes and offices. This article may
have been used by mold inspectors to support the view that toxic
molds will poison you. In fact, this article and many others have
been taken out of context. This article and other scientific
articles like it support the view that there is no solid evidence
that toxic mold will poison you when breathed in at levels found
in even very moldy homes. Such articles do not typically state
that it could never happen, but that there is not significant
scientific evidence that mold in levels found in residential and
office setting has poisoned people.
What Can Mold Do
* Toxic or not toxic mold is not trivial, in fact mold growth in
your home or office can cause serious non toxin related health
problems such as severe allergy or asthma. Such conditions can be
more serious and more debilitating than many people realize.
* Mold can make your home uninhabitable for your family and
nearly impossible for you to sell. Selling a home with a mold
problem that you hide can easily get you and your Realtor sued.
We have seen many homes, condos, and trailers, from Key West to
Miami, and West Palm Beach empty because they were to moldy to
live in and just entering the properties can be quite unpleasant.
* Ignored mold problems can get worse over time and can become
extremely difficult and expensive to resolve. Ignoring a mold
problem can cause a two thousand dollar mold removal job to
become a two hundred thousand dollar mold removal job.
* Mold can cause flu-like symptoms in mold removal workers if
they are not wearing proper protective gear.
* Mold can cause serious and even deadly infections, but this
typically occurs in persons who have a weak immune system. In
2006 we conducted an inspection for a Miami resident who had
Aspergillus mold growing in her lungs, and in 2008 we conducted
an investigation for a West Palm Beach lady who had just
recovered from mucormycosis. This is a condition where fast
growing molds grow in the sinuses. This condition is more serious
than your typical sinus infection. In fact, it can lead to death
in a few days.
* Mold can create foul smelling microbial volatile organic
compounds that in turn cause irritation resulting in allergy like
symptoms and have been shown to increase a child's chances of
developing asthma by 200%.
* In conclusion current scientific literature does not support
the belief that toxic black mold is a killer. However, mold of
any kind in your house, given the right environmental conditions,
has the potential to become a menace and cause serious allergy,
asthma, and other related health problems.

Copywriting That SELLS
http://www.copywritingthatsells.com.au/
I was reading this book the other day about the death of
advertising.
It was a book written by a web 2.0 search engine fan and he was
saying there was going to be a death of advertising and
everything would be done via search engines, social media, etc.
going forward.
Now that's partly true.
Things have shifted.
Twenty years ago the media was dominated by television and
newspapers.
And that was the only way to get your name out there on a mass
level.
And that's certainly all changed.
But I was thinking the other day about some of my larger clients.
There's an 80 / 20 rule in business that... 80% of your business
comes from 20% of your clients.
Now I haven't crunched my numbers enough to know if this is
absolutely true in my case, but here's what I've noticed about
four of my top clients which generate a large percentage of my
business.
One was generated by a referral.
And three were generated by picking up the phone or sending these
guys letters / emails directly to get them on board.
And NOT because they suddenly fell across me online via search
engines, blogs, social media, etc.
The message: Don't fall for all the hype.
If you know who your target market is then go after them.
Don't just rely on search.
Because with search you cannot control who you attract.
Sure, you can control via keyword.
But you cannot say I want a business who is turning over a
minimum of a million dollars a year in the manufacturing industry
for instance.
You can with direct mail.
Of course, you need to use the strategies you'll find in
http://www.copywritingthatsells.com.au/cashflow to make sure you
do it right and hit the nail on the head.
But once again, as with my last email you need to zig when they
zag and not just follow along blindly according to what everyone
else is saying and doing.

Credit Card Companies Reward Consumers Who Shop Around

Jobs And Paychecks
http://www.jobsandpaychecks.com/
With Ronald Reagan came mass deregulation in many industries. One
of the industries that benefited from deregulation was the
financial industry. As a result, hundreds of new financial
companies were introduced to the American consumer during the
1980's.
With the sudden explosion of new competitors in this industry,
credit card companies began to struggle with how to retain
existing customers and to recruit new customers.
So, financial companies took their cue from the airline industry.
The airline industry had preceded the financial industry in
deregulation, and they had met the new increase in competition
with Airline Miles programs to encourage brand loyalty and repeat
customers.
Noting the successes in the airline industry, credit card
companies soon began to offer their own clients Airline Miles for
repeat business. But, Airline Miles were not attractive to the
whole of the consumer credit card market.
Credit Card Providers Upped The Ante
Once the credit companies realized that Airline Miles could only
offer them limited success, they began to spread their wings and
to offer additional credit card reward programs to their
potential customer base.
Banks eventually changed the name of their rewards from credit
card miles to credit card points to address the fact that
consumers could earn far more from their company than just free
travel. Consumers began to sit up and really take notice of these
new kinds of credit card offers.
Through the 1990's and into the new millennium, consumers began
to find that most of the primary players in the credit card
market were offering various mixes of credit card rewards. The
most common credit rewards offered are still airline, travel,
gas, and cash-back rewards.
Other types of credit card rewards offered to consumers include
low-interest or 0-interest credit card balance transfers. Another
type of reward is 0-interest or low-interest borrowing for the
first six-months or one-year.
Credit Tip #1: Credit card balance transfers and early-bird
credit card offers such as the no interest for six months will
remain in effect for the full amount of time stated, so long as
all credit card payments are made on-time. A single late payment
on one's credit card payment will likely be viewed as a breach
of contract, leading to a higher interest rate from the date of
the late payment or even from the credit card sign-up date.
Whatever you do, make all of your credit card payments on time
for the entire amount due according to your monthly statement.
Expanded Travel Rewards Brought Real Value to Consumers
Credit card travel points were a real blessing for ordinary
consumers. Family vacations are generally taken within 200 miles
of home, so most consumers would never use the free airline
travel offered with credit card miles programs.
Credit card points or travel rewards offered more options to
consumers as to how the consumer rewarded themselves for their
loyalty to the credit card company. In many cases, travel rewards
can be extended to include fuel, hotel rooms, attraction entrance
fees, and food at restaurants. As a result, consumers can expect
to utilize their travel rewards, even if they jump in the car and
drive down to the next major city.
Cash-Back Rewards Added A New Dimension To The Financial Game
Credit cards can be your best financial friend if you know how to
work the system.
Cash back rewards range from one- to ten-percent of the amount
spent on the credit card. Clever consumers make those cash-back
rewards really count by using them for all of their purchases.
One can start the month by putting their paycheck into the bank
and then use their cash-back credit card to pay for everything
that can be paid with a credit card through the month. This might
include groceries, food, fuel, utilities, car payments, house
payments, etc. As each credit card purchase is transacted, the
consumer should write down the amount of the expenditure in their
checkbook. Then at the end of the month, when their credit card
bill arrives, the consumer can write a check for the entire
balance of their card for that particular month.
This way, the consumer can maximize their cash-back rewards and
never carry a balance on their credit card. If one pays $3000 per
month in bills, and all of those bills can be paid with their
credit card, the consumer could very well receive an extra
$30-300 back from their credit card company.
Credit Tip #2: The added benefit of using this method of bill
paying is that you are building your credit rating as you pay off
the entire balance of the credit card each month.
Selecting the Right Credit Card Offer
Don't be afraid to shop around to find the best credit card
offers. Before you begin your search, sit down and sketch out
some goals that you would like to reach using your credit card.
Perhaps you would like to transfer your credit card balance from
one high-percentage credit card to one with a lower interest
rate. Maybe you are more interested in the percentage value of
cash-back reward. You might want to get a credit card that offers
extra points or a credit card offer that will let you earn credit
card points towards the purchase of a Sony big screen television.
Whatever your financial goals might be, make sure you know what
they are before you begin your search.
On your first pass, eliminate the credit card offers that do not
provide the kinds of rewards that you are looking to achieve.
Your first selection round will generally narrow your field by
two-thirds.
Once you have knocked down the list of offers, then get out a
pencil and paper and develop a checklist that will allow you to
compare each offer side-by-side. This phase will let you
determine which credit card will best serve all of your desires.
Of course, you may have to make compromises with yourself, but
when you are done, you will have found the best credit card offer
for your situation.
If you have the bank's brochure in front of you, it will likely
have a credit card application inside of it that you can fill out
and send in to the company. If you are relying upon credit card
applications by mail, make sure you keep your list handy until
you have gotten a card you are happy with using.
If you have an Internet connection, you will be able to shop a
huge variety of credit card offers. By following the method shown
above, you can make a good decision about the cards you want to
try to acquire, and you can file an online credit card
application with the expectation of getting an answer on that
card within just a few minutes. If you are turned down on your
top pick, then move on to your second top pick. By using the
Internet, you can actually reduce your credit card shopping time
by as much as weeks.

The Dangers of Mold Growth in Your Home
Copyright (c) 2009 Daryl Watters
An Accredited Mold Inspection Service, Inc.
http://www.floridamoldinspectors.us/
Molds are part of the natural environment, outdoors molds play a
significant part in the environment by breaking down dead plant
matter such as dead trees and fallen leaves. Molds that grow
inside homes should be best avoided.
Mold has some resemblance with plants as well as bacteria, but is
neither a plant nor a bacterium. Mold belongs to a seprate
individual kingdom known as the fungi kingdom. Many diverse types
of fungi exist, however the common term mold is used to describe
mostly fuzzy fungi grown on various moist surfaces.
In the home many molds look like tiny smug marks; up close one
may notice a fuzzy or hairy appearance. The mold produces
millions of tiny seed like structures called spores that are
invisible to the naked eye. These spores float through air
indoors as well as outdoors. Mold begins growing indoors when the
mold spores touch a moist surface. There are various types of
mold that require different water levels, but none survive or
multiply without the presence of moisture.
The human eye can at best see objects that are 10 to 30 or more
microns across. Human hairs are about 50 to 75 microns across.
Mostly the indoor spores are merely 2 to 10 microns, while some
spores are long, a few hundred microns.
Toxic mold produces chemicals called mycotoxins. They are
produced primarily by various toxic mold types such as
Aspergillus flavus, Memnoniella, trichoderma, Fusarium and toxic
black mold also known as Stachybotrys, Mycotoxins and allergens
are found in dead spores as well as inside living spores.
Mycotoxins are defences against being eaten by insects. They are
also powerful weapons employed by toxic molds in a microbial
combat to assist them when competing against several other molds
and bacteria for growth space.
The toxic black mold Stachybotrys is commonly found by our
inspection firm in South Florida. It is likely worldwide, as it
was first reported as a problem with solders and their hungry
horses in the Ukraine near Russia almost 100 years ago. However,
even if the mold spores observed in residential areas are a
result of toxic black mold growth, they may not always result in
toxic illness effects on humans through normal indoor inhalation.
A human gets poisoned typically when they inhale extremely large
numbers of spores, or when they eat toxic mold.
History reveals the effects of toxic mold mycotoxins in farm
animals and humans including birth defects, coma, internal
bleeding, cancer, and death, mostly via eating foods contaminated
with toxic mold. Remember the hungry Ukrainian horsed mentioned
above, they ate hay contaminated with Stachybotrys or toxic black
mold. They did not have a happy ending, and the solders that
slept on mouldy hay lived but suffered from serious skin
irritation and blisters.
The main reasons for mold growth at home are damp or moist
surroundings. Molds are concealed behind the wall paper, on or
behind drywall, on top of ceiling tiles, beneath the pads or
carpets, inside AC units, and behind the furniture. Cleaning
concealed mold with chemicals is not the suggested remedy in most
cases. Chemicals such as chlorine bleach are not recommended to
clean mold. Mixing chlorine bleach solution with any other
detergent or cleaning solution is best avoided as this may cause
the creation of dangerous chlorine or chloramines gas. If the
mold on the surface of the wall is killed with bleach, the
majority of the mold will still continue to grow hidden inside
the walls.
It will turn from a small problem to a large more expensive
growing hidden mold problem if not handled correctly the first
time.
A certified mold inspector must be called to get to the root
reasons for mold growth via investigations and testing, next a
mold removal company also known as a mold remediation company
must be given the inspectors report so that the mold remediators

How To Find Work At Home Jobs For Work At Home Moms
Copyright (c) 2009 Glen OReilly
Jobs And Paychecks
http://www.jobsandpaychecks.com/
As the economy continues to tighten for many American families,
more moms are looking to the Internet to find the extra money
needed to help their families survive during this economically
challenging time.
The good news is that there are plenty of opportunities for the
mom seeking to earn money from home. The bad news is that there
are a number of scams out there designed to trap the newcomers -
to making money online, who simply do not know how to recognize
the righteous among the wolves.
Be Very, Very Careful
Far too often, newcomers to the online job world have experiences
similar to those experienced by Elmer Fudd, whenever he crossed
the path of Bugs Bunny - as in the movie, "Wabbit Twouble".
Elmer Fudd: Wabbit, I came here for gold, and I'm going to get
it!
Bugs Bunny: No! No! No! Not that! Not that! Anything but...
[Elmer and Bugs fight until Elmer has a gold tooth in his hands]
Elmer Fudd: Euweka! Gold at wast! He-he-he-he!
[Smiles, showing a gap where his gold tooth was]
Bugs Bunny: Euweka! Gold at wast! He-he-he-he!
[Points at his intact gold tooth]
When money is tight at home, it is important to absorb the
lessons I am going to share in this article and not to be an
Elmer Fudd. While spending money to operate an online enterprise
may often make sense, be vewy, vewy careful. Oh - sorry... Be
very, very careful...
Lessons From The Days Of Mail Order
If you go to McDonald's, Wal-Mart or any other Main Street
employer, you do not have to pay money to get the job. While jobs
are free... A good education is not free...
In the days of mail order, the big scam was that you could pay
money to get a job "stuffing envelopes". The scam was that you
would pay money to get the kit that enabled you to stuff
envelopes, supposedly for pay. In the advertising, it was said
that companies would pay you X dollars to stuff and mail the
envelopes.
What the scammers never said was that what you were sticking in
an envelope was a sales flyer, and you would only be paid if
someone purchased a product as the result of a piece that you
mailed.
The Internet equivalent of "stuffing envelopes" is affiliate
marketing. That is not to say that you cannot make a lot of money
with affiliate marketing, because you really can make a lot of
money with affiliate marketing. But you should be aware that most
people who undertake affiliate marketing - without first getting
a good education - will fail to make any money with affiliate
marketing.
Yes, affiliate marketing has a learning curve, but once you have
perfected your formula for success, affiliate marketing can be
very lucrative. It is true that a lot of Internet marketers are
making a handsome living through affiliate marketing, but most of
those people who have worked their way into "earning a living"
from affiliate marketing had several months or several years of
trial-and-error, before they could leave the job world behind.
If you are at all curious about affiliate marketing, the basic
premise is that companies will pay you for helping them to
acquire new customers. If a person that you referred to the
company makes a purchase, you will earn a sales commission as a
result of the purchase made.
If You Are Seeking A Job
You do not have to pay someone in order to get a job, whether
offline in the real world or on the Internet. If someone offers
you a job, and then asks for cash up-front in order to be able to
give you that job, you should hearken back to the wise words of
Elmer Fudd, "There's something screwy around here..."
For many telecommuting is just a dream, but when you know where
to look for those telecommuting jobs, they are not that hard to
find.
The only real telecommuting jobs on the Internet are frequently
found on Freelance websites. But, you should keep in mind that
these Freelance jobs are usually not long-term, and they are
based on specific performance criteria.
For example, I could have hired someone to write this article for
me for a fee. Many freelance opportunities are actually available
in the content creation arena. Webmasters need content to fill
and to promote their websites, but many of these webmasters
simply do not have the skill or the time to do the work
themselves. If you have the ability to write intelligible
content, then there is ample opportunity to write articles for
other people.
On the freelance websites, content writers are generally paid
anywhere from a few dollars up to about fifteen or twenty dollars
to write one article. If you are willing to put up your own
website and to advertise your writing to other companies, it is
not unheard of to be able to charge anywhere from $30 an article
to $100 an article. But you should be forewarned that setting up
your own website can be a very tough road, as there are thousands
of other freelance writers competing for those more lucrative
writing jobs.
If you don't consider yourself much of a writer, the good news
is that there are thousands of freelance jobs offered that would
enable anyone with a computer connection to participate.
For example, I know one company who pays people to write "every
man" reviews of tourist destinations, motels, hotels and
restaurants. The managers at this company do not want
professional writers to write these reviews. Instead, the
employer wants the reviews to appear as if Jane Doe, with an
eighth-grade education, had written them.
Another company recently paid people to research and compile a
list of all of the hotels in one metro area. This company wanted
the names of the hotels, addresses, phone numbers, and it wanted
to know the availability of swimming pools and other amenities.
That particular job paid two dollars for every record compiled.
Other companies are willing to pay to have a list compiled of web
pages that talk about a very specific topic. Manually compiled
lists are popular, because we all know that the search engines
don't always show the best content pages on a topic, and some
webmasters feel that having such a list would be beneficial to
their users.
I have even seen companies seeking freelancers to look at
pictures and write a short description of what the picture
contains. Others have paid to have a set of pictures reviewed and
placed into their proper categories.
Interestingly, if you have a digital camera, there are hundreds
of companies willing to pay you to travel around your local area
and take pictures of specific homes, streets, addresses, tourism
spots, and nature shots. Some of these companies are in the stock
photography industry; and others are in the real estate industry.
If you are more of an artist, you will also find ample
opportunities for graphic design jobs through the various
freelance websites. Another graphics-related freelance job that
some employers have sought is for people skilled with Photoshop
to stitch together pictures to provide a panoramic picture of a
particular event.
Other freelance gigs for moms include business support services,
administration support, accounting, answering services, resume
writing, grant writing, translators, virtual assistants, editors,
fact checkers, gathering interesting quotes, and more... If you
can envision an assignment that a company might need completed,
chances are there is someone out there looking for someone to do
those jobs from home...
Here Is Where To Find Those Freelance Jobs
There are many more Freelance Job websites than what I will
mention here, but this will give you a good start towards finding
jobs that any mom, in any part of the country, can use to find
and earn the extra money she needs to help supplement the
financial needs of her family.

At the end of this road, there are many places to find jobs that
can be worked from home. Many of these jobs are ideal for mom,
and possibly even for dad.
If you are looking for extra money or a job you can work from
home, print out this article now, so that you will have it
available when you need it. If you have friends or relatives
looking for work from home opportunities, print this article out
and give it to them.
With this information in hand, you should have no problem finding
the real work-at-home jobs that many people seek to find. At this
juncture, one more quote from Elmer Fudd seems the perfect
conclusion to this article:
Elmer Fudd: I finally got even with that screwy wabbit...
Keep your chin up and your mind clear, so that screwy wabbit will
not clean your wallet, when you are in need of every penny you
have available.

Government Grants for Home Repair Really Do Exist

http://www.governmentgrantsource.net/
How many times have you looked around your home, frustrated with
the state it's in, but knowing you just don't have the cash to
fix it up? It's a common problem, particularly these days when
there are so many people out of work. Homes need constant upkeep
and if you experience a severe storm or other event that leaves
your house in shambles, it can get very costly very quickly.
Government grants for home repair are often rumored to be a myth,
but they actually do exist.
Government grants for individuals are not that abundant, so it
can be fairly difficult to find them. There are many lists out
there with government grants, but many of these are not complete
and may not give you the information that you seek. Take some
time to find the right grant list that is comprehensive and you
will discover a number of financial opportunities that you never
knew existed. If that means you have to pay a fee to get the
list, then consider it an investment. After all, the amount that
you will receive from using that list is considerably more!
The problem with this type of funding is that most people just
don't believe the government would give away money to anyone.
And the truth is, they don't. You have to apply and only if you
pass the application process will you be awarded the money.
That's why it is so very important to do a good job on your
government grant proposal.
Your application is going to be what the decision makers use to
decide if you deserve grant money or not. The process is the
same, whether you are applying for grants to pay debts, renovate
your home or simply start up a business. You'll need to give
very good reasons for needing the money, as well as telling the
government just what you intend to do with the grant if you are
chosen. How you spend the money will be greatly dictated by what
you say in your proposal, so keep this in mind when writing it.
You'll also need to provide timelines and a proposed budget. If
you are like most homeowners, you probably already have the
pricing for everything worked out so you can provide this
information fairly easily. There are many other areas of the
proposal that need to be covered, though. In order to make a good
decision, the powers that be need specifics and details on
everything you plan to do and this takes time to write up.
With the right information, a good list of government grants for
home repair and some patience, you can apply for and get funding
to repair or renovate your home.

Green Ways to Decorate and Design Your Kitchen

Kitchen Designs Remodeling
http://www.kitchendesignsremodeling.com/
After decades of neglect, the environment is starting to receive
the attention it deserves, and with good reason. As a result,
some homeowners are choosing to implement green designs into
their kitchens, especially since the kitchen can use a lot of
energy through appliances that constantly run and water that
regularly drips.
Here are several tips for each category in your kitchen so that
you can choose a green decorating scheme based on your needs and
budget.
Green Appliances and Water Saving Technology
Energy Star appliances are getting a lot of attention, and with
today's range of options and price ranges, upgrading your older
appliances for more energy efficient options is viable. Energy
Star appliances use anywhere from 10 to 50 percent less energy.
Don't overlook your kitchen faucet as a potential source of
water-conservation. Especially if your budget doesn't include
new appliances, consider choosing a kitchen faucet with an
aerator. You'll have the same water pressure with less volume. A
recirculation pump will keep your hot water in your tap, meaning
no running the water for up to a minute waiting for hot water.
Big-Ticket Items Going Green
Cabinets and countertops are seminal components that affect the
look of your kitchen. If you are considering the possibility of
refacing your current cabinets, one popular option is choosing a
hardwood that wasn't finished with urea-formaldehyde, which
emits harmful gasses. You can also choose green materials such as
wheatboard that is finished with nontoxic products.
Recycled quartz countertops are the most popular green option,
and are engineered by DuPont, CaesarStone, Silestone, Zodiaq and
IceStone. These recycled quartz countertops are antimicrobial,
mold and heat resistant. They offer a wide range of color options
with good color depth and a hint of sparkle that will complement
any kitchen.
Green Underfoot
If you are considering updating your kitchen flooring, before you
go the laminate flooring route, do some research into green
options such as cork flooring, linoleum and bamboo or reclaimed
hardwood. Bamboo is popular because it's easily renewable and
has been improved to be more durable as well as to stand up
better to moisture. Cork is environmentally friendly and you'll
have a many options for color, just make sure you like the
texture and look before committing.
Because linoleum is made from linseed oil, rosin and wood flour,
it's durable and environmentally friendly to produce. If you are
set on tile, consider purchasing recycled tile that was well
preserved, perhaps a terra cotta for a warm, rustic look.
Don't Throw That Away!
Whether you are updating your entire kitchen or just several
items, don't overlook how you dispose of the items you're
replacing. After all, throwing your current appliances into the
landfill won't justify buying Energy Star appliances. Instead,
either sell or donate your used appliances (if in working
condition). This way, someone else will reuse them and this will
prevent them from clogging a landfill. The same goes for
replacing cabinets and even countertops. If you're taking down
your cabinets, take pictures first and try and sell the lot or
donate to your local home improvement charity that will reuse
your materials, such as Habitat for Humanity. This way, you'll
have done your part for the environment.

Love Life Passion Restored - Discover A Simple Secret On How To Save Your
Relationship
Copyright (c) 2009 Steven J. Hartley
Win Your Love Back
http://www.winyourloveback.org/
You see a young couple holding hands and looking at each other as
if they are the only two people in the world. It is obvious they
are very much in love. You feel a twinge of sadness as you recall
how you and your partner were also once so much in love. You so
longingly want your love life to be that way once again. You are
not sure exactly how to implement a "how to save relationship"
plan.
Yours is not the only relationship that lost its newness and
passion and became uneventful and ordinary. Relationships take
work and care. You have already taken the first step in the right
direction by realizing something is missing. All you really need
next is a plan that will work to restore the excitement and
desire between you and your partner.
There are right and wrong ways to go about restoring the juice
back into your partnership. Fighting, blaming, arguing, and
yelling are wrong ways. You want to come closer together, not
drift farther apart. Whether you think you are to blame or not,
just go ahead and mentally forgive him for whatever it is he did,
and get past that part. You want him back. You want to be like
the young couple in love, staring into each other's eyes, the
only two people in the world. So, how do you accomplish this
seemingly difficult task?
Most often, each partner thinks everything is the other
partner's fault. He thinks you should change, and you think he
should change. You think he spends too much time with his
friends. He thinks you work too much. Face it, nobody is perfect,
and each of you has faults. Neither of you will ever BE perfect.
So put those concerns aside, and move to the solution. Don't
focus on those problems. Those are small potatoes. You want to
draw him in closer, not send him running over to his buddy's
house for the poker game after you get through with this big
fight you are thinking of starting.
While love potions and elixirs would be a truly simple and quick
way to make him swoon and sway back into your arms, they are the
means used in stories and bewitching fables and not readily
available on the pharmacy shelf.
Besides, you don't need potions and brews to win back your true
love's undivided attention. You already have everything you
need, right there within your heart and your head. You can easily
have your man spellbound and dreamy eyed just by loving and
believing in yourself. It is not near as complicated as you
think.
Your man definitely does want you to love him, not scream and
yell at him, constantly reminding him of everything he does
wrong. Stop doing that. Instead, focus on yourself. Think of how
you can become more loving, more tender, more understanding, and
more of the friend and lover you and he both want you to be. The
age old saying is that you can draw a lot more flies with honey
than with vinegar. The same holds true here. Draw him in; don't
push him away.
A common misconception is you can trap a man by making him feel
sorry for you. If a kind man helps you change your tire in the
rain late at night, he is most likely being a gentlemen and a
good Samaritan. Typically in long term, loving, passionate,
lasting relationships, men idolize and adore women who are
capable, gentle, charming, smart, inspired, and self confident.
Those qualities exude a beauty that cannot be imitated because
they come from within.
As you envision yourself as the beautiful, capable woman you have
within you, envision also you and your partner, holding hands,
gazing lovingly into each other's eyes, feeling like you are the
only two people in the world. You should now be perfectly sure of
your "how to save relationship plan." You are going to nurture
those amazing skills and talents you already possess. Your man is
going to be consumed by your inner beauty and charm.

Organic Products - What Does It Mean To Be Organic
Copyright (c) 2009 Janet Davis
Mark and Janet
http://www.MarkandJanet.com/
In 1933, Lord Northbourne published a book titled 'Look to the
Land,' in which he outlined certain methods of food production
he termed 'Organic.' His goal was to establish a view of the
farm as an organism, self-contained and self-sustaining, in
opposition to what he termed unsustainable 'chemical farming'
relying on fertilizers and chemical pesticides. In large part,
this organic farming was not a particular change from traditional
farming techniques at the time.
In the mid-20th century, the 'Green Revolution' led to
widespread methods of chemical and industrialized farming that is
still used today. As a reaction to the perceived weaknesses of
these modern farming techniques, organic farming has grown in
popularity in recent decades and particularly in the last ten
years.
What is Organic
Briefly, organic food is that which is farmed using organic
farming methods. This means excluding food additives and
genetically modified ingredients and avoiding the use of
inorganic farming techniques such as chemical pesticides or crop
irradiation. The exact definition of organic food can vary -
according to the FDA, food is considered Organic if it consists
of 95% or more organic ingredients. Other markets may have
greater or fewer restrictions, depending on the criteria of
various government agencies and the terms they set.
Know Your Food
Prior to the modern boom in organic popularity, the only way to
be certain a product was organic was direct observation.
Organically minded consumers would visit local farms and buy
directly from farmers they knew to rely on organic techniques.
They could observe firsthand the way produce was grown or the
techniques used to milk cows. They could discuss changes and
conditions with their provider, and generally the motto of the
day was "Know your farmer, know your food."
This changed with the rapid increase in demand for organic food
in recent years - as entire organic supermarkets such as Whole
Foods came into being, consumption moved into the mainstream. Not
everyone in the suburbs or major urban centers of the world is
equipped with the knowledge or the time to get to know their
individual local farmers, and sometimes organic produce can
travel a great distance between production and distribution.
Thus, third party agencies and government organizations have
stepped in to create labels that certify products as organic in
accordance with various private and public standards.
This does result in a disconnect, and require a sense of trust in
these agencies.
Concerned consumers are therefore advised to research the
standards set down by the certifying groups, and to do a little
online research into how they go about making their decisions.
Again, for example, the US certifies any product with at least
95% organic 'ingredients' as organic. This may mean that the
end product itself was not prepared in accordance with organic
procedures, or is packaged in an inorganic container. A little
research can help allay or confirm suspicions and concerns such
as these, so the educated consumer becomes the happy consumer.
Why Buy Organic
There are as many reasons for buying organic as there are
products to buy. One of the most cited reasons is improved taste
and food quality over industrially farmed food. Blind taste tests
comparing conventionally and organically farmed apples indicated
organic apples were usually sweeter and firmer than their
competition. Proponents claim the lack of additives allows the
natural, complex flavors of the food to come out and really
captivate the consumer.
Another incentive is for personal health. Organic food is farmed
with extensive restrictions on the use of pesticides, either in a
complete ban or with specific, very strict criteria for their
use. Thus, the USDA has released studies indicating that nearly
thirty percent of organic foods contain no discernible pesticide
residues, and the remainder have them in very small quantities.
This is in comparison to conventionally produced foods, which can
have as much as two thirds more pesticide residue than
organically produced equivalents. Not every pesticide causes
demonstrable harm to consumers. However, the point is that people
can make better decisions for their health and their lifestyle
when they know what is and what isn't going into their bodies.
The lack of pesticides also creates an environmental benefit
important to many organically minded consumers. Pesticides can
and do run into the local ecosystem surrounding any farming
endeavor, and can cause havoc that may take generations to
uncover and even longer to repair. Organic farming offers less
impact on the ecology of the community and allows for a sense of
civic responsibility and pride in participants.
A Little More Money
That said, organic farming does come with a hefty price tag.
Since the same amount of land is producing less than
conventionally farmed land, organic produce and goods can cost as
much as 40% more than the alternative. A half-gallon of organic
milk can cost as much as a full gallon of conventionally produced
milk, which affects consumers' bottom line. Fortunately, there
are ways to reduce this cost, again with a little bit of
research.
For example, consider organic strawberries. These of course cost
more than conventional strawberries, due to the strict and
exacting standards required for their production. However, even
the price of organic strawberries will go down during strawberry
season, since the market will be flooded with the product, both
organic and conventional. So, with a bit of research consumers
can find out what seasons are best for each product they're
interested in and buy in accordance with these cycles.
Additionally, many organic companies offer special coupons and
sales, just as do traditional supermarkets. A few minutes
searching the web may yield a nice two-for-one sale on organic
corn just in time for a big family dinner.
As with any passion, the key to truly getting the best use out of
organic products comes from information, consideration, and
action.

If you are tired of being afraid because of rising crimes like
rape and brutal assaults, arm yourself with a TASER C2 stun gun
to protect you and your loved ones. Compact and easy to carry,
they are self-defense electronic devices that will stop an
attacker up to 15 feet away - that puts ample space between you
and the assailant allowing you a safe distance to escape. Should
a close encounter deem it necessary to use force, they also
double as a contact stun gun to ward off an attack.
TASER technology provides one of the only non-lethal means of
stopping an attacker dead in his tracks, even if that person is
under the influence of drugs or alcohol. When you are dealing
with an out-of-control aggressor, it's not always possible to
aim for the face. A TASER C2 stun gun can be conveniently
discharged to work anywhere on the body of your attacker, so you
don't have to aim for one particular area. This makes the
TASER(r) C2 a more effective self-defense option during an
already stressful situation.
The TASER C2 stun gun works by adding a lot of electrical
confusion to the nervous system: the electricity is delivered at
a high voltage but low amperage, and can disable a human in
seconds. Interfering with the body's electrical signals, the
initial effect is interpreted as pain; however, muscle spasms,
confusion, and inability to control movement quickly follow. The
brain becomes incapable of interpreting the nerve impulses it's
receiving and is unable to send out meaningful impulses to the
rest of the body.
TASER devices have been used effectively in law enforcement
encounters by over 10,000 police agencies in over 4 countries.
Nearly 100% effective, the TASER(r) combines stun technology with
a quantum leap in stopping power via Electro-Muscular Disruption
or EMD technology.
Normal law-abiding citizens should have no problem acquiring this
highly effective tool for self-protection purposes. However, to
further promote responsible ownership, the TASER(r) C2 stun gun
will only function after the owner completes a background check
through the manufacturer to prevent misuse. As always, purchasers
MUST be 18 years old or older.
TASER(r) C2 cartridges also have a unique serial number and are
equipped with an Anti-Felon Identification system, which
discharges 20-30 serialized paper tags when deployed. Law
enforcement can later retrieve this confetti from the scene and
contact TASER(r) International to get the name of the owner of
the TASER(r) device, allowing police to track any potential
misuse.
If the TASER(r) C2 stun gun is used in self defense, it can be
deployed and left behind attached to and incapacitating the
attacker while you get away. If you are forced to leave your
TASER(r) behind, most companies will replace your unit free of
charge. Check with your merchant to see if he offers this free
replacement offer. More than likely, you'll need to get a copy
of the police report documenting the incident and send it to the
company that you purchased it from.

and take action to defend yourself and protect your family
today. Gerald owns http://www.urbansafetysolutions.com/ and

When we worry about how long our retirement income will last, we
consider so many factors. The current economy is causing a drain
on 401(k)'s and IRA's. So we have become much more cautious
about withdrawing money to use it as part of our pensions. Now we
are limited to living within the Social Security benefits of
those 65 and older. Social Security is in the process of being
changed to stop the cost of living benefits for the next couple
of years, as well.
The Dow Jones continues to fluctuate between 9200 and 9500 for
almost all of 2009, so it will be difficult to feel confident
that we will be accessing our savings for any big ticket items
like a new car or vacations within the near future. The
unemployment rate is over 9% and still rising. This emphasizes
the concern that the country is not really coming out of the
recession as is being argued by many economists.
As my friends and I discussed the impact of inflation I wonder if
the inflation level will rise from the 3% that I routinely use to
determine the growth of liabilities and consumer goods for my
clients, as I help them with their retirement planning.
I ask myself should I start using 4% as a better indicator of the
amount of savings my clients will need at retirement? As a result
I went on to Google and entered "current inflation rate" and
what I found was very surprising and worthwhile discussing for
all of us trying to make sense of the economy.
While all of us have heard about inflation and recognize that
when it occurs it could cause problems for us, personally. What
we may not have is an easy definition that describes inflation as
occurring when money becomes relatively less valuable than goods.
Knowing this I expected to see inflation rising over the past few
months but instead, since March, 2009 our economy has been in
continued periods of deflation. September's number will be due
out on October 15^th and it is likely that the trend of deflation
will continue.
So now I went back to Google and asked what causes deflation? **
According to Kimberly Amadeo of _About.com_ deflation is defined
as the time that "asset and consumer prices continue to fall."
This may seem like a great thing to consumers, because it may
seem a positive concept that consumer prices are becoming more
affordable, except that the cause for deflation is a long-term
drop in demand.
Unfortunately as Ms. Amadeo continues, "a drop in demand means
that a recession is already underway, with job losses, declining
wages, and an ongoing decline in the value of your home and your
stock portfolio. Deflation is a result of businesses dropping
prices in a desperate attempt to get people to buy their
products.
Officially, deflation is measured by a decrease in the Consumer
price index. However the index does not measure stock prices
which retirees use to fund purchases and businesses use to fund
growth."
Can Anything Be Done About Deflation?
Google.com has become my research source. In seeking the answer
to the prevention and possibly a cure for deflation many
interesting perspectives were presented. The table presented on
_Inflation Data.com_ shows the drop in the inflation rate in
Dec./08 and continuing into Jan. and Feb./09 and the subsequent
rate of deflation often linked to recessions, that started in
Mar/09.
Inflation is defined in the _Merriam Webster Dictionary_ as a
continuing rise in the general prices due to an increase in the
volume of money and credit with less goods and services available
for purchase. Deflation seems to be caused by a long term drop in
demand for goods. Of course this is only a part of the story. We
need to ask ourselves why is there a drop in demand for goods?
Mike Moffatt writing on "What is Deflation and How Can It Be
Prevented" @ _About._com. gives us further insights. Mike quotes
Colin Asher speaking to _Radio Free Europe_, and Mark Gongloff @
_CNN Money_.
Colin Asher, an economist at Nomura Securities, told _Radio Free
Europe_ that the problem with deflation is that "in deflation
[there's] a declining spiral. Businesses make less profits so
they cut back [on] employment. People feel less like spending
money. Businesses then don't make any profits and everything
works itself into a declining spiral." Deflation also has a
psychological element as it "becomes rooted in peoples'
psychologies and becomes self-perpetuating. Consumers are
discouraged from buying expensive items like automobiles or homes
because they know those things will be cheaper in the future."
Mark Gongloff at _CNN Money_ agrees with these opinions. Gongloff
explains that "when prices fall simply because people have no
desire to buy -- leading to a vicious cycle of consumers
postponing spending because they believe prices will fall further
-- then businesses can't make a profit or pay off their debts,
leading them to cut production and workers, leading to lower
demand for goods, which leads to even lower prices."
So the recession is the fault of the consumer? Or could it be
caused by the continued increase in printing money whenever the
government needs more for its own special use. Glen Beck @
Glenbeck.com displayed a graph that outlines the spending that
has taken place in America. In 1971 President Nixon decided to
stop using the gold standard to back our money. Over the ensuing
years the outpouring of printed money being pumped into the
economy will so devalue our dollar as to be almost worthless.
The consumer anxiety is this. We are concerned about the effect
of inflation and deflation on our lifestyles. We are concerned
about the level of our retirement funds and the slow return to
the pre-October 2008 level. What if we continue to withdraw funds
to augment our Social Security or pensions and the recession
finally ends after we have drained our savings. As the economy
surges forward the young, with jobs, will need to start over and
the elderly on fixed incomes, can become greeters.
We are also, concerned about the continued recession no matter
that many economists say the US economy is finally coming out of
the recession. Look at the numbers and decide for yourself. We
are still seeing unreasonable growth in unemployment numbers and
fewer new jobs being developed except in bigger government or in
lower paying homecare fields.
What is the answer? The job of preventing recessions over the
past few years lies with the Federal Reserve Bank and the Federal
Government. Decreasing the interest rates has helped to increase
the supply of money into the economy. Lowering interest rates has
worked in the past but now the interest rates are already low and
the feds hesitate to cut the rates further.
The government can help by putting more money into the economy by
lowering taxes and increasing government spending with a
temporary deficit. The government is already printing money for
many new ideas such as the stimulus package for AIG and loaning
money to the banks and the auto industry thus causing a real
deficit, not a temporary one.
Why not lower taxes? This would benefit the common people not
only the banks and corporations. Why not beg the feds to print
more money to be used to buy bonds to decrease our interest
rates? Is it such a big deal to cut the rate by 1/8^th of a
percent to help the economy? The feds have usually lowered the
rates by 1/4% or greater.
Last quarter the feds decided against cutting the interest rate.
When economists talk about "printing more money" and "the Fed
lowering interest rates" they're talking about the same thing.
The Government is printing money but not reducing taxes or
lowering interest rates. While already low, there is still room
to lower them further, so using this policy to fight deflation
will support growth in the economy.

Your House is Clean, But is It Green?

Mark and Janet
http://www.MarkandJanet.com/
Cleaning a home or business is often a ritualistic experience,
and one meant to remove matter we deem as dangerous, unhealthy or
unpleasant to those living or working there.
It All Adds Up
Think about what you do and what products you use when you clean.
You spray glass cleaner to wash the windows and mirrors. You use
counter and tile cleaners in the bathroom and kitchen. You use
smelly cleaners for your oven and chemicals for your clogged
drains. Carpet cleaner, liquid floor cleaner, furniture polish,
dishwashing liquid, detergent, shampoo - the types of products
available to clean houses numbers in the hundreds and often not a
second thought is given as to what kind of toxins they contain.
Recent studies show, however, that using many household-cleaning
products could have harmful effects. Since the late 1940s, there
has been a dramatic increase in the production and use of
synthetic chemicals in the U.S. Coincidentally; there has been a
rise in the number of cases of environmentally linked chronic
illnesses, such as asthma, allergies and chemical sensitivity.
A recent report by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
shows that indoor air may be anywhere from 3 to 70 times more
polluted than outdoor air. Another EPA study concluded the toxic
chemicals found in many household cleaners are three times more
likely to cause cancer than outdoor air.
But It Smells Good...
Often times, Americans equate clean with smelling good. Dish and
laundry detergents, which are largely petroleum based and thus
made from a non-renewable resource, often have chemicals added to
them to make them fragrant, which can trigger asthma.
Coincidentally, cases of asthma have risen 600 percent since
1980.
Many household cleaners contain phenols, which are listed by the
EPA as being toxic and corrosive. Costs in the United States and
Canada for treatment of environmentally induced health conditions
are estimated at between $560 billion and almost $800 billion
annually. And children are particularly vulnerable because their
low body weight means they absorb a larger percentage of
chemicals, thus putting them at greater risk.
There's also the threat of poisoning, especially among young
children, from common household cleaners. According to the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, 1,900 people each day in
2006 went to an emergency room due to poisoning.
These chemicals can also find their way into nearby water
supplies, polluting them and putting others at risk. Though they
are known to be harmful, current guidelines only suggest exposure
limits and not banning them from use.
There is a way to clean homes or businesses and keep people and
the environment safe.
Go Green And Stay Clean
Green cleaning is a term used to describe products and processes
that get things clean while also protecting the environment and
the health of those living in it. Because they do not use the
toxic chemicals found in other cleaning products, there is less
worry about harmful side effects. Going green is a natural way to
keep living and working environments clean, without harmful side
effects.
In the home, green cleaning can mean a safer environment for
family members, especially children. In a business setting, green
benefits include increased productivity, better morale and less
liability from worker related health issues. Green cleaning can
be ideal for nursing homes and hospitals because it reduces
indoor pollution, and is becoming prevalent in many public places
in this country and Europe that cater daily to a wide variety of
people with different health conditions.
It's Getting Easier
Going green and clean is becoming easier. Look for detergents
with "fragrance free" on the label. Plant-based detergents,
made from corn, palm kernel or coconut oil, are also available.
This is better for the environment than petroleum-based cleaners
because the plant-based product breaks down more easily and is
made from a renewable resource. Furniture and metal polishes are
also produced using mineral or plant oils, rather than dangerous
solvents.
To clean drains the green way, first use a plumber's snake to
clear any obstructions, thus reducing the amount of cleaner
needed. To eliminate the rest of the built up material, use green
cleaners that contain enzymes to break down substances instead of
chemically based ones.
Using green cleaning methods and products can maintain the health
of loved ones, save money and protect the environment. It has not
only become a viable option, but a duty to seek the safest way to
keep spaces clean and healthy.

We've collected some of the most prevalent kitchen nightmare
topics and have compiled them into a list, for your viewing
pleasure. Hopefully they will serve as useful information to help
you avoid kitchen disasters.
1. "I installed my kitchen cabinets, after I put in my marble
countertops. A row of cabinets accidentally fell on the marble,
badly cracking countertop!"
2. "I had a great new years party, felt lazy and didn't want to
clean up. Left opened bottles and glasses of wine on white marble
countertop overnight; thought it was stain proof."
3. "My husband was away on an extended business trip and I
decided to surprise him by replacing our outdated cabinets. In
the demolition process, my contractor came across a hiden stash
of videos, which changed my whole perspective on my husband."
4. "We were installing a center island in our kitchen, until a
weak flooring structure and studs decided that the basement would
be a better place."
5. "I bought what I thought was Absolute Black granite
countertops until a few weeks later, I noticed that my hands
contained black paint after leaning on the counter."
6. "We paid our contractor 50% upfront for our new kitchen
makeover, and after showing up for the first week, we never saw
him again."
7. "We decided to hold my daughter's wedding reception at our
home, and no sooner had I placed the massive wedding cake (which
took two days to prepare) on the kitchen table, when the
chandelier fell directly on the center. There was cake
everywhere, it was completely ruined."
8. "I love big bay windows, and I've always wanted one in my
kitchen. We installed one last year that covers most of our
kitchen wall, and which overlooks our neighbor's pretty yard. We
spent most of our time in the kitchen and it's very lovely,
especially in the morning when many types of birds gather and
frolic. But my dream turned into a nightmare recently when our
neighbor, who is in his mid sixties, single and morbidly obese
decided to put in a large hot tub in the back yard. Last month,
he started hosting hot tub parties, which now appear to be
happening every weekend. At about the same time, I started having
really bad nightmares, which haven't stopped."
9. "We decided to paint the walls of our kitchen this year, and
hired our babysitter's brother, who is very handy and an
excellent painter. Unfortunately, he also supplements his income
by walking dogs in the neighborhood, which he decided to do while
on our project. Somehow no less than four dogs escaped his
clutches and decided to take a thorough tour of our large home.
Salmon-colored dog prints littered every nook and cranny of our
house for days afterwards."
10. "When it came to ordering our flooring, I decided on wood
and asked our contractor, an immigrant with a heavy accent, to
look into wood flooring options for us." The next day we have
400 square feet of wool carpeting stacked outside our kitchen. He
thought we said "wool."

Top Ten Ways to Use Twitter for Marketing
Copyright (c) 2009 Jason OConnor
The Net Gazette
http://www.TheNetGazette.net/
Twitter is a micro-blogging site that asks you a basic question,
"What are you doing?" It allows anyone with an account to write
up to 140 characters in a text field as a means to update,
comment, promote or communicate to others who are "following"
you. When people follow you, they see what you've recently
contributed when they login. They see your "tweets", which are
the messages you leave.
And of course you can follow others who tweet about the things
that interest you. As an Internet marketer you may want to follow
other Internet marketers, for example.
Like anything, and this is especially true of working with social
media, the more you give, the more you get. In other words, the
more often you tweet the more activity you'll generate. Some
suggest that you tweet a few times a day, every day. Not every
tweet needs to be profound. But they should all be useful.
It's important that you don't abuse Twitter for marketing and
promoting your products, services or affiliate links. Most of
your tweets ought to be about offering your followers useful and
valuable information. Only once in a while should you try to use
Twitter to promote something. Otherwise you'll be perceived as a
spammer, and no one wants that tag.
Imagine if you had a large number of people following your
tweets? Some people have tens of thousands following them. If you
had something to promote and you had a large following, you could
quickly and efficiently alert a lot of people of your promotion.
It acts sort of like an opt-in mass emailing blast to your house
email list, but it's a heck of a lot easier and faster. This is
the power of Twitter.
One thing that I've noticed with Twitter is that it can seem
overwhelming at times. The sheer information on Twitter, the
'how-to's', tutorials and all the other ubiquitous advice on
how to use and take advantage of it can seem hard to understand
and implement. So here's an easy-to-understand list of the top
ten ways in which you can use Twitter to market yourself, your
business and your website.
The Top 10 Ways To Use Twitter for Marketing:
1. Use it to promote new pieces of content you or your company
create to drive traffic to your site. From online articles to
blog posts or from videos to webinars, each time you add
something to the Web that is of value, tweet about it and include
a link. (Most people on Twitter use www.TinyURL.com to take a
long URL and make it short.)
2. Use it for learning new marketing ideas, strategies and
techniques. If you follow the right people, and you have to be
picky about who you follow, you'll get pointed to a good amount
of useful tutorials, videos, e-zines and other things that teach
you about marketing.
3. Use it to get new customers. Use Twitter's search to find
people who may be interested in your product or service. There
are many ingenious ways to search for people on Twitter. For
example, if you sell red widgets you could go to
http://search.twitter.com and find people who have tweeted
specifically looking for red widgets. To do this, type the
following into the search box: red widgets?
* You'll notice a lot of the results will be of others selling
red widgets. These ones will all obviously have links in them to
direct people to the site they're selling red widgets on. To
weed these people/tweets out, use the negative sign like this:
-http red widgets?
* Since every link has 'http' in it, using the negative sign
in front of it will cause your search results to not include any
tweets with links in them.
4. Use it to build your email list. Use Twitter's search to find
people who may be interested in the monthly newsletter you send
out to your opt-in house email list. Invite these people to join.
5. Utilize Twitter plugins or add-ons such as TweetMyBlog or The
Twitter Updater, which both automatically make tweets of every
new blog post you publish. Also check out TwitThis. When visitors
to your website click on the TwitThis button or link, it takes
the URL of the Web page and creates a shorter URL using TinyURL.
Then visitors can send this shortened URL and a description of
the web page to all of their followers on Twitter. Finally, look
at TweetLater, a service that allows you to write lots of tweets
at once and then schedule them to go out over time.
6. Use it to build buzz about an upcoming product or website
launch.
7. Use it to better brand yourself or your business. Remember,
when someone wants to learn more about you or your company, they
are increasingly using sites like Twitter for research. You could
easily use Twitter to establish yourself as an authority in your
field.
8. Use it to update followers on breaking news regarding your
company. If your company is mentioned in a new article, tweet
about it and include a link to the article. Or if you're at a
conference or trade show, you could tweet what you're doing and
invite people to visit you in person.
9. Use it for business networking, master-mind groups (see
Napoleon Hill), and getting yourself seen by high-profile people
in your industry.
10. Use it as an instant messaging system to keep your and your
team on the same page during projects. This is especially useful
for those who work with teams spread out in different cities or
countries.
You should note that this top 10 list is not in order of
importance or in any particular order. I suggest that you give
Twitter a try if you haven't already. See if you can apply a few
of these techniques and tactics to help you take advantage of
Twitter as a marketing tool.
And one more important thing to remember is that there is no
silver bullet in marketing. You should always be trying and
implementing numerous tactics when marketing your business.
Don't only rely on Twitter or any other one thing. Instead, use
Twitter (or any other Web 2.0 site) as simply one more tool in
your entire social media and marketing toolbox.

When decorating, a common challenge that many people face is
attempting to make a relatively small space appear larger.
Fortunately there are several decorating techniques that can be
used to achieve a more spacious look.
First, and perhaps most important, the proper use of color will
go a long way in making a small room look larger. Lighter colors
enhance the appearance of space. Whites, beiges, light blues, and
other pastel tones are perfect. These colors are most effective
when used in solid application to walls, or in bedding, area
rugs, or larger pieces of furniture. This especially holds true
when light colors are used on the walls and floors since it
enhances the effect of natural light on the room.
Next, it is imperative to minimize clutter, as it makes a room
appear smaller. Use your imagination to create storage in
inconspicuous places such as underneath a bed, or maximize
existing closet space with more shelving. There are a lot of
great looking pieces of furniture such as coffee tables and end
tables with built in storage to stow away clutter. Also, limiting
the number of accessories and decorative pieces you have in the
room will help to prevent a cluttered feeling.
Furniture selection and placement are also important in making a
room appear larger. It is best to place as many pieces of
furniture as possible along the walls. Furniture should be placed
so as to allow free traffic flow within the room. When selecting
furniture, using pieces that are similar in tone to that of the
walls or floors will help them blend in, further enhancing the
feeling of spaciousness. Selecting multi-functional pieces is a
great way to avoid having to use more furniture in the room, and
to create more storage space. Entertainment centers with built in
shelving are perfect examples of this.
Finally, the proper use of light is a key component to creating a
spacious look. A well lit room will always appear larger and more
spacious than a dark room. First, look for opportunities to bring
in as much natural light as possible. Avoid using heavy, dark
draperies or blinds on windows. If you do choose to install
window treatments, make sure that they are pulled back, exposing
as much of the window as possible. When choosing artificial
lighting, select pieces that won’t take up a large amount of
space within your room. Recessed lighting is a good way to do
this, and creates a great modern look.
Following these four design principles will help visually enhance
the size of a smaller room, and will also create an attractive,
clean, and modern look.

Most NHL teams start their training camps the weekend of Sept.
12th. The puck is dropped on the regular season Oct. 1.
Due to the Winter Olympics the NHL All-Star game is suspended
this season. Instead the league will shut down from Feb. 15
through Feb. 28 to allow NHL players to skate with their
respective countries.
The regular season concludes April 12, 2010.
Just a reminder for those that may have taken too many pucks to
the head, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the defending Stanley Cup
Champions and the San Jose Sharks won the President's Trophy.
NHL In Europe
Hockey fans in Stockholm will get the chance to see the Detroit
Red Wings and the St. Louis Blues begin their 2009-10 regular
season in earnest. The Wings and Blues will play a pair of games
at the Ericsson Globe in Sweden's capital city.
Also opening their season in Europe are the Chicago Blackhawks
and the Florida Panthers. They will play two games against one
another at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland.
Not 'Lanta?
This may be the last season that Atlanta Thrashers fans will get
to root for Ilya Kovalchuk. The Russian is a legitimate NHL super
star as well as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the
season. He's perturbed with the team's lack of improvement and
may look to apply his talent elsewhere.
To appease their frustrated star the team put the "C" on his
jersey. Kovalchuck responded by playing like he had an "S" on
his chest. In 37 games as the Thrashers' captain Kovalchuk had
28 goals and 49 points.
To help out his cause Kovalchuck courted his countryman Nik
Antropov. The big, powerful winger was eventually signed by
Atlanta. The team also traded for defenseman Pavel Kubina.
If the Thrashers don't make the postseason Kovalchuck could very
well vacate the Peach State for a more competitive team.
A Giant On The Ice
If Tyler Myers makes the Buffalo Sabres team you won't need to
learn about it on television or read about it in a tweet. All
you'll have to do is look on the ice. You can't miss him. Myers
is 6'8".
The lanky defenseman was the Sabres' first round draft pick in
2008. In January, he helped Team Canada win the world junior
championship. He was also named the WHL's playoff MVP after
notching 5 goals and 15 assists in 22 games.
Even though the 19-year old will be given every opportunity to
make the team at his height he is still considered a long shot.
The Winter Classic
The 2010 Winter Classic is scheduled for Jan. 1 at venerated
Fenway Park in Boston.
This will be the NHL's fourth outdoor game and third Winter
Classic.
Since the game is being held in Bean Town half of the ticket is
the Boston Bruins—the best team in the Eastern Conference last
season. The B's will be battle the Philadelphia Flyers.
Southern Hospitality
Since the 2004-05 lockout, the Carolina Hurricanes have brought
back nine former players. The latest to return to the RBC Center
as a Hurricane is Aaron Ward.
Ward was traded to the Canes from the Bruins on July 24th, 2009
for Patrick Eaves and a draft pick.
Previously, Ward played for Carolina from 2001 through 2006. He
scored a goal for the Canes in their Game 7 victory in the 2006
Stanley Cup Finals.
There's No Place Like Saddledome
Pengrowth Saddledome has been selling tickets to Calgary Flames
games since 1983. It's old and decrepit and the team feels they
need a new home to compete in the NHL.
Earlier this month Premier Ed Stelmach told the Flames they can
have their new arena but not a penny will come from taxpayers.
How refreshing is it to hear that from a politician?
The Saddledome is the sixth oldest arena in league—which isn't
surprising since half the teams in the NHL are either an
expansion team or they recently relocated. Calgary hopes to
breaks ground on a new facility in three to five years.
The Flames didn't get the government support they wanted but at
least they signed defenseman Jay Bouwmeester to a five-year deal.
The Canucks Are On The Road Again... And Again... And Again...
The 2010 Winter Olympics will force the Vancouver Canucks to
undergo the longest road trip in NHL history. Vancouver will play
14 straight road games from Jan. 27 to March 13 to allow
officials to revamp General Motors Place.
Young-Hawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are the league's youngest team. Their
captain, Jonathan Toews, is only 21-years old.
The Blackhawks have only five players 30 or older: Brain Campbell
(30), Marian Hossa (30), Brent Sopel (32), Cristobal Huet (34)
and John Madden (36).
Don't expect to hear much Nirvana or Pearl Jam blaring in the
locker room before games.
Quiet In Columbus
The Columbus Blue Jackets made one major offseason move and it
really wasn't a move at all. They gave their best player,
25-year old Rick Nash, an eight-year contract extension.
They also re-signed 22-year old center Derick Brassard to a
four-year deal. So the Jackets really made two moves that
weren't really moves at all.
That's a fairly low-key summer for a team coming off their first
ever post season appearance.
Where Have You Gone Joe Sakic?
For the first time in 20 years, the Colorado Avalanche will start
the season without Joe Sakic. The team will retire his number 19
at the Avalanche's home opener on Oct 1.
That might be the only time all season the 'Lanche go into the
game without a losing record.
Olympic Stadium Is An Olympic Hassle
The franchise wanted to sell Montreal Canadiens tickets to
Olympic Stadium for a Nov. 28 game against the Washington
Capitals but that's not going to happen. Apparently, priming the
stadium for an NHL hockey game is just too much trouble.
It all starts with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. Depending on
how well they do in the playoffs the Alouettes may need Olympic
Stadium for a game on Nov. 22. Officials fear that wouldn't give
crews enough time to erect a rink and get the everything ready
for a game. Olympic Stadium holds 70,000.
Instead, the game will be played at Bell Centre.

Recycle and Get Green
Copyright (c) 2009 Janet Davis
Mark And Janet
http://www.MarkandJanet.com/
Blue disposal bins, catchy three-word slogans, signs asking users
to separate green glass from clear glass, 'paper or cardboard
only' disposal receptacles - these are just a few of the visible
signs of the modern recycling movement. Recycling has been a
major issue since human beings first started forming organized
societies. Renaissance armies would melt down old, worn out
cannons to reclaim some copper instead of having to dig it out
again.
The Great Depression made it difficult to get food, let alone new
goods, so people buckled down and learned how to reuse. The US
and Britain launched massive recycling and reclamation campaigns
during World War II to maximize wartime production. People have
always found ways to save time, effort, and money by finding
inventive new uses for their personal goods.
What's Old Is New Again
The modern story of recycling as an environmental movement truly
begins in the late 1960s and early 1970s. For the first time,
with conservation efforts and the consequences of worldwide
pollution really being made public (facilitated by the explosion
of television's ability to reach a worldwide audience), people
were becoming aware of the ability of major recycling campaigns
to positively affect their lives. Spurred by events like the
infamous Mobro 4000 barge, which sailed up and down the eastern
coast of the Americas for nearly a year hauling a full load of
garbage, people were moved to take widespread, systematic action.
Recycling can have a significant impact in many obvious,
measurable ways. Every aluminum can melted down and reclaimed is
one less can that has to be stored in a landfill. Landfills
aren't simply dumping holes that are filled once and ignored,
but sophisticated facilities that require careful attention,
maintenance, and energy to properly function. For example,
inspectors are required to periodically ensure that the
environmental seal around the underside of landfills doesn't
rupture, potentially spilling pollutants into the local
environment through leakage. The less product that gets dumped
into these landfills, the less a modern society has to invest in
their upkeep.
Recycling By the Numbers
The benefits go beyond the mere physical, however. The Energy
Information Administration (EIA) estimates that recycling tin and
aluminum cans only requires five percent of the energy needed to
make all new cans out of raw materials. Similarly, the EIA
estimates that paper recycling reduces the energy cost of paper
manufacture by forty percent compared to all new paper
production. Reduced energy consumption means less pollution from
the power plant, and less need to harvest the fossil fuels that
are still the world's predominant energy supply.
Simple Home Green
That isn't to say that recycling only has a benefit in the realm
of production. There are of course benefits to private recycling
as well. Some solutions are simple - a milk jug can be cut open
and turned into a measuring tool for rainwater for the
scientifically minded. Rather than discarding old clothing, some
families cut the garments up for use as rags, patching material,
or even art supplies. A pair of jeans someone would never wear in
public often find new life as work trousers for painting or
automotive projects.
Plastic shopping bags are often thrown away without
consideration, but some families stretch their dollar a bit by
using them as small-can trash bags, such as for waste paper in
the bathroom. This saves the cost of buying new bags, at the very
least. For those interested in getting even more use out of these
bags, they can be used as improvised lunch bags, or for
transporting food to a big picnic.
And, if you can't find a way to reuse something, there is always
the option of taking it to the appropriate city recycling
facility. The key is to find creative ways to reuse the materials
already in the home, instead of just throwing them away.
Simple Office Green
Similar options exist for the office environment, of course. In
particular, offices generate a lot of paperwork, and an equal
amount of paper waste. Some small businesses actually take
advantage of this, and instead of throwing out their old shredded
paper and scrap, use it as package stuffing. This saves them the
cost of purchasing new packing material, and keeps the scraps out
of the landfill for a bit longer.
Cardboard shipping boxes can often be reused as well, whether to
continue shipping goods or as a low-cost way to store some
short-term documents until the new filing system arrives.
Additionally, some cities even have buyback programs, offering
small monetary compensation to those who recycle certain
products. Businesses should research their local options, as they
could possibly use this as a way to reduce their operating costs
over the year. It won't bring in millions, but the wise
businessman saves wherever possible.
Think About It
In both house and office environments, the key to successful
recycling is stopping to think. A great deal of the waste
generated in the modern world can be reused or recycled, but
isn't because people have a habit of throwing out their soda
bottle when finished drinking. Finding new ways to recycle
doesn't require expensive programs or elaborate schemes. All it
really requires is for someone to stop for one moment when
throwing something away, then asking themselves, 'Is there
something else I could do with this?'

A growing trend in the cabinetry industry today has been using
furniture feet under counters, islands, and other kitchen
fixtures. Using various styles of furniture feet has many
advantages for the designer looking to augment the theme of a
particular kitchen; from bringing the coziness of the living room
into what has previously been viewed as a purely functional
space, to creating an impressive and beautiful space that
inspires. Such careful thought is put into the pulls on the
drawers and knobs on the cabinets, the moldings and trim, and the
corbels supporting the range hood or accenting an archway.
Furniture feet can add that something extra which ties all these
other elements together. A well-designed kitchen is a mark of
true craftsmanship, and the right furniture feet can be an
essential tool in achieving that mark.
Furniture feet have the potential to change the feel of an island
or set of cabinets. No longer simply functional, the addition of
furniture feet changes these "fixtures" into furniture. Kitchen
islands and cabinets take on an elegant and dignified air with
these simple touches. Additionally, furniture feet can lend
support to a given theme. The right tulip-styled furniture feet
can seamlessly finish an English Country styled kitchen. Or,
perhaps, ball-and-claw feet to bring the grace of the Queen Anne
style. Whatever the style a particular kitchen is built in, the
right furniture feet may be just what was needed to complete the
look and feel.
Trends in design have, of course, steadily changed over the
years. Whereas at one point cabinetry was highly ornate and
artistic, with craftsmen devoting themselves to every detail,
designing high-class pieces that were elegant in every way. These
constructions were viewed not just as storage spaces, but as a
thing of beauty, adding to the space in which they were located,
and not detracting. With the advent of the 20th Century; Shaker,
Mission, or Arts and Crafts styles became prominent. The extra
and ornate details were less frequently seen, in favor of more
simple structures.
The addition of furniture feet to kitchen cabinets and islands
can draw in the influence of the design eras, which preceded us.
Whether highly ornate, such as in the classical period, or a more
simple elegance that can be seen in the English Country or the
Early American Colonial furniture; the look and feel of any
kitchen can be easily tied in with the rest of the home. The
right furniture feet can help to create a warm and inviting space
in what often does become the "hub" of a home.
Furniture feet can be found in many different styles and sizes in
the collections offered by Osborne Wood Products, Inc. Whether
round or square, and ranging from very simple to more delicate
and ornate, one is sure to find a high degree of craftsmanship
and quality in their repertoire. Most items are offered in more
than ten different wood types, making coordination simple.

Lifestyle May Affect Baldness More Than Genetics
Copyright (c) 2009 Howard Richman

http://www.soundfeelings.com/
Most people assume that male pattern baldness is genetic. In
fact, there is even evidence that shows that the "baldness
gene" is passed down from the mother's side of the family.
However, I'd like to propose that "genetic baldness" is not a
done deal. I believe there is a PROCLIVITY towards baldness that
is passed down and inherited. But the actual hair loss occurs
when this genetic tendency is COMBINED with certain lifestyle
events.
There may be more that is passed on than merely genetics.
Environmental and lifestyle habits can ALSO be passed on from
generation to generation. This means that the behaviors and diet
habits of a bald man can be passed on to his son and it may be
THOSE influences that make the hair loss to APPEAR hereditary.
Is the son's baldness genetic, or does he just have bad scalp
circulation? The baldness lifestyle could be so similar between a
father and a son that the baldness is similarly induced! For
example, a love of greasy foods, which are known to block the
small capillaries to the scalp, can be passed on from a father to
his son. Or, drinking water from a source that is contaminated
with pesticides could also be "passed on" from father to son if
the son lives in the same area. Or maybe the son "inherited" a
preference for a particular shampoo that is known for being
damaging to hair.
One of the pioneers of the concept of "lifestyle baldness"
originates from an interesting book written in 1985. The author
of this out-of-print book from Japan theorized that the loss of
hair is the result of a "westernized" diet including "fatty
foods." Dr. Masumi Inaba shows a correlation between a diet with
increased animal fats, increased levels of sebaceous gland
activity in the scalp, and an increased incidence of male pattern
baldness in Japanese men in the 40 years since World War II.
Before World War II almost every Japanese male in Japan had a
full head of hair! When they move to Hawaii or California, or
change their diet in Japan, many Japanese men start losing their
hair. The book is called "Can Human Hair Grow Again?: Baldness:
New Steps Toward Prevention and Cure" Publisher: Azabu Shokan
(1985).
Whether you have the baldness gene or not, there are many natural
treatments for hair loss. These can include scalp massage,
exercise, colon cleanse, liver flush, skin brushing, alternations
of heat and cold, reflexology, homeopathy and acupuncture. In
addition, reducing the fat intake in one's diet has been shown
to help to reverse the tendency towards baldness.
To help counter the baldness lifestyle, you should try to avoid
the following: dandruff shampoos, hair conditioners, hair dye,
margarine/hydrogenated oil, elemental calcium supplements, and
over-thinking/worrying.

Storage capabilities are one of the primary traits people seek
when scouting a new house or commercial space. Although flashy
features like French doors and balconies are great touches, an
appropriate level of building storage is necessary to store all
the items that an individual or family can acquire throughout a
lifetime. To this end, there is a number of building storage
options available, both inside and outside.
Indoor Building Storage
Depending on what types of items a consumer has need of storage
space for, apartments and houses come equipped with inside
building storage.
Closet Space - The most obvious storage space for clothes and
shoes, closets can also house larger items, toys, board games, or
anything else that is in need of clean shelving.
Attics - Many houses come equipped with large and roomy attic
spaces, which have virtually unlimited storage capabilities and
are helpful for storing old financial statements or other
sensitive files that a person wants to keep more secure.
Basement Storage - For larger household items such as bikes, the
basement can be a good choice for storage.
Outdoor Building Storage
In the event that the building storage capabilities that are
indoors just aren't enough, especially if the property is larger
and there are needs for lawnmowers or even tractors, a person may
want to look to the outdoors options instead.
Sheds - Available in a wide array of sizes, shapes and building
materials, sheds are a convenient and affordable means of
increasing a household's storage capabilities.
Barns - For those with farms, or a need for a larger space, barns
are extremely roomy and can house farm equipment and entire
tractors for the maintenance of the land.
Garage Add-ons - Many people will find that it is simple to
expand the house by adding spare room to the garage.
Self-Made Building Storage
If a house is already fantastic, and the only aspect lacking is
storage space, this is a problem that can be fairly easily
remedied. On a smaller scale, sets of drawers, stand up closets,
and shelving can be constructed to add into garages or
pre-existing storage sheds. For the more ambitious, building
one's own shed can be a fun project if you possess the time and
know-how to do so.
Whatever project ones decides to tackle, it's helpful to keep in
mind a few tips. The following can hold true for any building
storage project:
* Use treated wood or other waterproof materials to prevent mold
or mildew from forming due to moisture.
* Build on a clean, level base.
* Follow instructions or build from a pre-formed blueprint.
* Skylights can be a smart add-in for sheds, illuminating the
contents with no need for artificial lighting.
In any case, the longer a person or family stays in a home,
chances are, the more building storage they will need.
Fortunately, there are myriad storage options, making building or
buying easier than ever.

If you are lucky enough to be traveling to Tuscany what is the
best way to start your vacation there? In every way Florence is
the heart of Tuscany. Historically, artistically, culturally and
geographically the centre of beautiful Tuscany is the amazingly
beautiful seat of the Medicis. When you are planning traveling to
Florence, Italy, hotel booking immediately comes to mind as a
priority. When a city has the attraction capabilities that exist
here the options for lodging are enormous.
As you plan, what are the things you should look for? One of the
primary things that will make your trip that much more enjoyable
is finding a hotel in the centre of Florence. Florence is not a
huge city by any standard, with a population of under a half a
million. This means that almost everything a tourist would like
to absorb is within walking distance of the historical centre. In
under 15 minutes you can be at the Uffizi, the Duomo or any of a
myriad of beautiful piazza. Add a little stair climbing and a few
more minutes and the walk to Piazzale Michelangelo offers one of
the most stunning views in all of Florence, Italy. Hotel booking
aside, access to all of the leather markets and shopping that the
city is known for make being in the centre the best choice.
Another factor that makes the choice of reserving a hotel in the
centre of Florence so great for so many travelers is that the
Santa Maria Novella train station is a stone's through from the
city centre. What can this do for you, the ardent traveler? The
train service in Italy can get you anywhere you want on every day
of the year except strike days. Everything you want to see in
Tuscany is about an hour or less by train. You would like to go
to Palio in Siena but not deal with the inability to find a room
there? Just stay in Florence another day, the train will have you
there in less than an hour while you relax with your friends,
family or a book while others deal with traffic. Carnivale in
Viareggio? A day in the picturesque town of Arezzo? All are
convenient to the historical centre. Hop back on the train and
head back to Florence, looking over all the great photos you took
and ponder the great dinner you will have when you get back.
When you have taken care of all of the details of traveling to
Florence, Italy; hotel booking, flight, currency exchange and a
city map you can relax and enjoy. The city thrives on tourism and
knows how to take care of and guide you. Conveniently ensconced
in your hotel in the centre of Florence you will be perfectly set
to enjoy Tuscany to its fullest. Marveling at Brunelleschi's
dome, the art of the Uffizi and all that the birthplace of the
Renaissance has to offer and also exploring the beautiful rolling
hills of the countryside and the languid Mediterranean beaches,
what could be better?

Each year hundreds of thousands of organizations in the United
States experience the negative effects of workplace crimes
firsthand. These detrimental and costly experiences lead to
considerable losses in productivity, assets, workplace/employee
morale, and tragically, even life. They also usually require
resorting to the hiring of security consulting firms or security
companies. Crimes known to occur in work-type settings include:
theft, vandalism, assault, kidnapping, arson, rape and murder,
among many others. Mitigating your exposure and risk to these
security threats begins with identifying vulnerabilities in your
organization that would be conducive to these crimes. One of the
first steps that are taken by security guard companies in this
process involves conducting an effective security assessment, to
expose on-site weaknesses that can create the kind of conditions
necessary for the perpetration of these crimes.
Different types of organizations have different types of security
needs. For instance, the usual security concerns of an industrial
plant facility manager may be different from those of the owner
of a car dealership. Where the car dealer may be mostly concerned
with keeping his/her assets safe when the dealership is closed,
the industrial plant facility manager may be focused on securing
the on-site and logistical safety of all manufactured goods or
substances, as well as keeping employees and local residents
safe. In fact, while many organizations view security as a simple
service involving the protection of people and assets, there are
a myriad of security deployments that can be implemented to
address a wide variety of security challenges. In consideration
of these varying deployments, a security company has various
factors to consider, including:
Crime Risk: Is there a high crime rate in the area?
Types of Assets: Are there on-site assets to be protected? If so,
are they portable, or difficult to transport?
Traffic: Does the establishment receive pedestrian traffic?
Types of Substances: Are there on-site substances or raw
goods/materials to be protected? If so, are they consumable or
hazardous?
Time: Is the establishment open 24 hours a day, or only during
business hours?
Accessibility: Is your establishment located above, or on, ground
level?
Stress: Is the establishment a high-stress atmosphere?
All of these factors can have a significant effect on the type,
and manner in which, a security application is deployed. In
addition to the on-site scenarios indicated above, consideration
must also be given to behavioral and motivating factors that can
influence certain types of crimes, and identify specific types of
offenders. For instance, depending on your type of organization,
a theft may be more likely to be perpetrated by an employee than
a complete stranger. Below is a general guideline for behavioral
or motivating factors associated with the following crimes:
Theft: Dispassionate crime. Objective is personal gain.
Assault: Passionate crime. Objective may be revenge. Usually
committed by employees or their spouses/ex-spouses, relatives,
friends or associates.
Fraud/Product Tampering: Passionate crime. Objective may be
revenge or personal gain. Can be committed by employees,
customers or contractors.
Vandalism: Can be Passionate or Dispassionate crime. Objective
may be revenge or boredom/recklessness. Usually committed by
young adults/adolescents or disgruntled employees.
For each of these crimes, the deployment of visual deterrents,
such as security guards and surveillance cameras, has a varying
degree of effectiveness. For instance, a passionate offender,
such as the ex-spouse of an employee whose mind is unequivocally
set on an on-site assault, is less hindered by the presence of
security cameras than the burglar, whose goal is to perpetrate a
theft without getting caught. By understanding the security
factors pertaining to your specific organization, as well as the
types of risks your organization may face, you, or your security
agency, can develop an efficient and effective security plan,
which in the long run, can save you a considerable amount of
time, money and resources.
