How to Build a More Successful Flower Garden

Flowers are the one plant that most everyone enjoys possessing,
either in the yard or in a vase on the table.

The beauty of the flower has held its place in the human heart
for as long as man has loved a woman. Traditionally, flowers have
been a point of beauty in the yard, and they have been used as a
gift to the woman in a dating relationship. While men
traditionally buy a range of flowers for the woman of their
heart, roses are most often purchased to signify real love.

Even in far off countries, flowers hold a place in the culture of
the people. They are used to make garlands that people wear for
special occasions, and they are used to make perfumes for women
to wear.

The flower industry finds peak selling days to be Valentine's
Day, Mother's Day, and Memorial Day, but the rose is the
top-selling flower for the Valentine's Day festivities.

If you are more the do-it-yourself type, you might consider
flower gardening as a favorite pastime.

Here Are Some Tips To Help You Build A More Successful Flower
Garden

Many flower gardens have at least one rose bush in the mix. This
helps add to the beauty of the garden overall, as it produces
beautiful flowers and it adds some contrast to the overall layout
of your garden. Most attractive for most people, the rose bush in
the garden will continue to flower every year, with very little
care.

If you have an interest in making your own flower garden, it is
best to start with only one garden bed, until you have mastered
the techniques of gardening, and until you have made certain that
the time commitment for such a project is not more than you are
willing to commit yourself.

Managing a flower bed requires only a few basic tools: a small
spade, a watering jug or water hose, and a clipper to help you
trim the dead leaves from the bush or plant.

It is recommended that the place you choose for a flower bed has
good drainage. Many plant species will die or become diseased if
exposed to too much water.

It is also recommended to put your flowers into loose soils. If
the soil is difficult to dig, then in all likelihood, the flower
will have difficulty dropping its roots. So, do avoid putting
flowers in soils that are hard to dig up.

It is also important to place your flower bed in a location that
gets a lot of natural sunlight. Flowers tend to smile and stand
up straight when they see the sun.

When you put your plants and flowers into the ground, be sure to
space the plants apart from one another. If a single plant must
struggle to get its own supply of water or sunlight, then that
plant is likely doomed to death. If you are planting from seed or
a pot you purchased at the nursery, then the seeds and potted
plant packaging should have in every case instructions to
describe the amount of soil the plant needs exclusively, how much
water the plant will require, and the best times to plant it into
the ground.

There are certain pests that are common to certain kinds of
flowers. In some cases, pesticides may offer the best solution
for fighting the common garden pests. But in other cases, if you
are willing to do a bit of research, there are most often natural
solutions you can add to your garden to repel the pests that want
to take residence in your garden. To learn more about natural
solutions to garden pest problems, visit this website:
http://www.eartheasy.com/grow_nat_pest_cntrl.htm

Sick plants and flowers can frequently be identified by the
leaves of the plants. When leaves begin to drop off the plant,
when leaves turn brown or black, or when leaves and stems start
to turn moldy, then you will know that you have sick plants in
your garden. It is best to cut away sick leaves when found, which
will often eliminate the need to remove the entire plant. Other
times, you would need to take the more drastic measure of
removing an entire plant from your garden.

If a specific plant variety attracts a lot of disease in one
season, it is recommended not to plant the same during the
following year, because insects and microbes tend to drop their
eggs near their food of choice. Since most pests only feast on
one specific plant type, rotating the plants from season to
season will help wipe out an infestation that may affect your
garden.

Adding decomposing foods to your garden may help your plants
regain some needed nutrients. For example, after using tea leaves
to make your fresh cup of tea, it can be helpful to your garden
to place those used tea leaves into your garden, to supplement
the nutrient gathering of your growing plants.

It is true that adding decomposing food stuffs to your garden
might attract unwanted creatures into your garden. For example,
when I was a girl, my dad always went fishing and after cleaning
the fish, he would bury the remains in his garden. It never
failed. Whenever he buried the fish remains in his garden, a
neighborhood dog would come dig up his garden and scatter the
remains throughout our yard. After several attempts to keep the
dogs out of his garden, he finally gave up the practice.

As mentioned in the above referenced page, deer are also another
animal that can become a pest. And the cure for keeping deer out
of your garden is so simple to do. Simply put a bar of soap into
a cloth bag and hang it from a low-hanging branch in your garden.
The rain and humidity will keep the soap moist, and the sweet
fragrance given off by the bar of soap will keep all deer out of
your garden, as the deer do not like the fragrant smell of soap.

In the end, flower gardening can be very fun, relaxing and
gratifying. If you are willing to invest a little bit of time
into your garden, you will find that a flower garden could be a
very pleasing element to add to your personal space.

"How to Get Your Blog Published on Amazon's Kindle"

By Merle http://Merlesworld.com

When Oprah announced on her show that she "LOVES" Amazon's
Kindle, millions of people rushed out to get one. First
introduced in 2007, the "Kindle" is Amazon's electronic
replacement for books. It's a portable, wireless device
that allows you to download books, magazines, newspapers,
even blogs instantly and take them with you anywhere.

Since the Kindle can hold over 1,500 books, that's like
carrying around an entire library in the palm of your
hand.

The wireless connection is built in and provided at no
charge by Amazon. There's also a built in browser for
viewing websites and reading emails.

Amazon's Kindle Store has over 230,000 ebooks to download,
plus U.S. and International newspapers, magazines, even blogs.
Almost all of the ebooks sell for $9.99 or less. The latest
model is a larger more improved Kindle DX which was made
available this year. Boosting a bigger screen and longer
battery life, it can even read to you out loud. Now that
makes for a nice bedtime story. It also holds over 3,500
books and sells for about $489.00.

The Kindle can also display PDF's which you can transfer
from your computer with a USB cable. The older versions
of the Kindle could read PDF's and Word documents, but
they had to be emailed to Amazon first to convert them
to a format readable by the Kindle. This option is
still available as well.

So what does all this mean to you? Well, if you're a blog
publisher you can now publish your blogs in the Kindle
Store where users can subscribe to them for a monthly
fee. This is a great way to make some money and increase
your subscriber base all at the same time.

First you'll need to go to http://kindlepublishing.amazon.com
to set up an account and submit your blogs for approval.
Once approved your Blog "goes live" in the Kindle Store
within 12 to 48 hours.

The Kindle gives the user full text and images from the
blogs they are subscribed to, which unlike an RSS feed
only gives you the headlines.

When submitting your blog for approval here's the information
you'll need:

1) Blog Title
2) Blog Tagline
3) Description
4) Image from top of your blog (banner or masthead)
5) Screenshot of your blog (optional)
6) Posting Frequency

It's really pretty simple to get your blogs listed.

So how does the payment process work? Good question,
nice to see you're paying attention. You'll be paid
30% of the monthly blog subscription price. Amazon
sets the price, not you. It's priced on what they think
is a "fair value" for their customers. For example,
my two blogs were set at $0.99 a month.

All blog subscriptions are free for the first 14 days.
Then they're billed at the monthly subscription price.
Blogs are wirelessly updated throughout the day.

You'll be paid by check or EFT, your choice. Electronic
Funds Transfer has no charge, but if you opt for a
paper check and live in the U.S. you'll have an $8.00
fee attached. Payments are sent once your earnings
reach $50.00.

If you publish a blog I'd strongly encourage you to
get it listed in Amazon's Kindle Store. It won't
cost you a thing but a few minutes of your time and
makes for great free exposure..

How To Find Work At Home Jobs For Work At Home Moms
Copyright (c) 2009 Glen OReilly
Jobs And Paychecks
http://www.jobsandpaychecks.com/

As the economy continues to tighten for many American families,
more moms are looking to the Internet to find the extra money
needed to help their families survive during this economically
challenging time.

The good news is that there are plenty of opportunities for the
mom seeking to earn money from home. The bad news is that there
are a number of scams out there designed to trap the newcomers -
to making money online, who simply do not know how to recognize
the righteous among the wolves.

Be Very, Very Careful

Far too often, newcomers to the online job world have experiences
similar to those experienced by Elmer Fudd, whenever he crossed
the path of Bugs Bunny - as in the movie, "Wabbit Twouble".

Elmer Fudd: Wabbit, I came here for gold, and I'm going to get
it!

Bugs Bunny: No! No! No! Not that! Not that! Anything but...
[Elmer and Bugs fight until Elmer has a gold tooth in his hands]

Elmer Fudd: Euweka! Gold at wast! He-he-he-he!
[Smiles, showing a gap where his gold tooth was]

Bugs Bunny: Euweka! Gold at wast! He-he-he-he!
[Points at his intact gold tooth]

When money is tight at home, it is important to absorb the
lessons I am going to share in this article and not to be an
Elmer Fudd. While spending money to operate an online enterprise
may often make sense, be vewy, vewy careful. Oh - sorry... Be
very, very careful...

Lessons From The Days Of Mail Order

If you go to McDonald's, Wal-Mart or any other Main Street
employer, you do not have to pay money to get the job. While jobs
are free... A good education is not free...

In the days of mail order, the big scam was that you could pay
money to get a job "stuffing envelopes". The scam was that you
would pay money to get the kit that enabled you to stuff
envelopes, supposedly for pay. In the advertising, it was said
that companies would pay you X dollars to stuff and mail the
envelopes.

What the scammers never said was that what you were sticking in
an envelope was a sales flyer, and you would only be paid if
someone purchased a product as the result of a piece that you
mailed.

The Internet equivalent of "stuffing envelopes" is affiliate
marketing. That is not to say that you cannot make a lot of money
with affiliate marketing, because you really can make a lot of
money with affiliate marketing. But you should be aware that most
people who undertake affiliate marketing - without first getting
a good education - will fail to make any money with affiliate
marketing.

Yes, affiliate marketing has a learning curve, but once you have
perfected your formula for success, affiliate marketing can be
very lucrative. It is true that a lot of Internet marketers are
making a handsome living through affiliate marketing, but most of
those people who have worked their way into "earning a living"
from affiliate marketing had several months or several years of
trial-and-error, before they could leave the job world behind.

If you are at all curious about affiliate marketing, the basic
premise is that companies will pay you for helping them to
acquire new customers. If a person that you referred to the
company makes a purchase, you will earn a sales commission as a
result of the purchase made.

If You Are Seeking A Job

You do not have to pay someone in order to get a job, whether
offline in the real world or on the Internet. If someone offers
you a job, and then asks for cash up-front in order to be able to
give you that job, you should hearken back to the wise words of
Elmer Fudd, "There's something screwy around here..."

For many telecommuting is just a dream, but when you know where
to look for those telecommuting jobs, they are not that hard to
find.

The only real telecommuting jobs on the Internet are frequently
found on Freelance websites. But, you should keep in mind that
these Freelance jobs are usually not long-term, and they are
based on specific performance criteria.

For example, I could have hired someone to write this article for
me for a fee. Many freelance opportunities are actually available
in the content creation arena. Webmasters need content to fill
and to promote their websites, but many of these webmasters
simply do not have the skill or the time to do the work
themselves. If you have the ability to write intelligible
content, then there is ample opportunity to write articles for
other people.

On the freelance websites, content writers are generally paid
anywhere from a few dollars up to about fifteen or twenty dollars
to write one article. If you are willing to put up your own
website and to advertise your writing to other companies, it is
not unheard of to be able to charge anywhere from $30 an article
to $100 an article. But you should be forewarned that setting up
your own website can be a very tough road, as there are thousands
of other freelance writers competing for those more lucrative
writing jobs.

If you don't consider yourself much of a writer, the good news
is that there are thousands of freelance jobs offered that would
enable anyone with a computer connection to participate.

For example, I know one company who pays people to write "every
man" reviews of tourist destinations, motels, hotels and
restaurants. The managers at this company do not want
professional writers to write these reviews. Instead, the
employer wants the reviews to appear as if Jane Doe, with an
eighth-grade education, had written them.

Another company recently paid people to research and compile a
list of all of the hotels in one metro area. This company wanted
the names of the hotels, addresses, phone numbers, and it wanted
to know the availability of swimming pools and other amenities.
That particular job paid two dollars for every record compiled.

Other companies are willing to pay to have a list compiled of web
pages that talk about a very specific topic. Manually compiled
lists are popular, because we all know that the search engines
don't always show the best content pages on a topic, and some
webmasters feel that having such a list would be beneficial to
their users.

I have even seen companies seeking freelancers to look at
pictures and write a short description of what the picture
contains. Others have paid to have a set of pictures reviewed and
placed into their proper categories.

Interestingly, if you have a digital camera, there are hundreds
of companies willing to pay you to travel around your local area
and take pictures of specific homes, streets, addresses, tourism
spots, and nature shots. Some of these companies are in the stock
photography industry; and others are in the real estate industry.

If you are more of an artist, you will also find ample
opportunities for graphic design jobs through the various
freelance websites. Another graphics-related freelance job that
some employers have sought is for people skilled with Photoshop
to stitch together pictures to provide a panoramic picture of a
particular event.

Other freelance gigs for moms include business support services,
administration support, accounting, answering services, resume
writing, grant writing, translators, virtual assistants, editors,
fact checkers, gathering interesting quotes, and more... If you
can envision an assignment that a company might need completed,
chances are there is someone out there looking for someone to do
those jobs from home...

Here Is Where To Find Those Freelance Jobs

There are many more Freelance Job websites than what I will
mention here, but this will give you a good start towards finding
jobs that any mom, in any part of the country, can use to find
and earn the extra money she needs to help supplement the
financial needs of her family.

General Freelancing Websites:

  * Elance.com
  * Guru.com/pro
  * iFreelance.com
  * FreelanceJobs.org/projects/
  * Jobs.FreelanceSwitch.com
  * Mturk.com (from Amazon.com)
  * LimeExchange.com
  * FlexJobs.com
  * FreelanceWritingGigs.com
  * GoFreelance.com
  * TheFreelanceNation.com
  * HireMyMom.com
  * GetaFreelancer.com

Sell Your Photography:

  * Fotolia.com
  * iStockPhoto.com
  * ShutterPoint.com
  * BigStockPhoto.com
  * StockedPhotos.com
  * Inmagine.com
  * StockXpert.com
  * CreStock.com

At the end of this road, there are many places to find jobs that
can be worked from home. Many of these jobs are ideal for mom,
and possibly even for dad.

If you are looking for extra money or a job you can work from
home, print out this article now, so that you will have it
available when you need it. If you have friends or relatives
looking for work from home opportunities, print this article out
and give it to them.

With this information in hand, you should have no problem finding
the real work-at-home jobs that many people seek to find. At this
juncture, one more quote from Elmer Fudd seems the perfect
conclusion to this article:

Elmer Fudd: I finally got even with that screwy wabbit...

Keep your chin up and your mind clear, so that screwy wabbit will
not clean your wallet, when you are in need of every penny you
have available.

My 20-year-old nephew came to live with me and my kids, until he

someone looking to get started in life on the right foot. I
showed him around town, set him on a path to find a job, and
pointed out where he could go to meet girls his own age... And in
the end, I learned an age-old lesson from my nephew...

The difficulty of adult dating was brought home to me the other
day.

My 20-year-old nephew came to live with me and my kids, until he
can get on his own two feet financially. His hometown - my
hometown is really small... providing little opportunity to
someone looking to get started in life on the right foot.

He spends his days looking for a job, and now and again, he will
slip out in the evening time.

I never really gave much thought about his evening time getaways.
He is an adult - he can do what he wants to do with his own time.

But by chance, I asked him the other evening if he had gone to
that bar that allows 18-year-old's to enter. He said he had not.
He explained that he did not feel comfortable enough with finding
his way around town, to be able to find the bar without getting
lost.

A bit surprised, I asked him where he went on Friday night...

His answer was even more surprising...

He was going out to meet girls his own age... Starting
conversations in convenience stores, restaurants, and WAL-MART!!!
Until now, I knew that you could find anything you ever wanted at
Wal-Mart... I just never stopped to think of it as a place to
meet new women... ;-)

I have to give him credit for creativeness...

My nephew is at that somewhat awkward age - after high school and
before he has turned 21. He is also in a new place, where he does
not know his way around town, and in a town where he does not
know anyone but our family and our small circle of friends, all
of whom are at least ten years older and with children.

I do the online dating thing, but to my knowledge, he is not
exploring the prospects for online dating in our town... And even
if he did, although we are in a bigger town than the one he came
from, we are still living in a mid-sized town with limited dating
possibilities. I know this is true, because even though I find
people to date in the town I live in - through online dating
sites - I frequently date people from nearby small towns as well.

His mother - my sister - having been a single mother for most of
the last ten years seems to have taught my nephew the importance
of starting conversations to lead to that next date. His mother
has not had Internet access since she and my nephew's dad were
divorced. So while I was exploring the big beautiful world of
online dating, she was still dating the old-fashioned way.

Ten years down the road, my sister has found a replacement for
her first husband and now she has a new baby at home, nineteen
years younger than her first child. I tease her that she finally
got her kid raised and out of the house, and now she has to do it
all over again...

At first I thought that until my nephew gets into a regular job,
a regular church, and a regular daily routine, I suspected that
it will be somewhat difficult for him in the dating world. But
then again, maybe not... He actually already has a list of phone
numbers he has acquired on his evening time adventures...

In this day and age, many people think of online dating as the
quickest and most economical way to find someone worth spending
their time... But as my nephew has reminded me... There was a
time before the Internet, and those dating techniques used before
the Internet age actually still work today...

So the next time you are out on the town and you meet someone who
strikes your fancy, walk up to them and say Hi. Show interest and
it could lead to a phone number. Finally, with a phone number in
hand, follow up. You never know where that phone call might take
you and your heart's interest...

Winning The Bet: I Have Your Name Tattooed On My...

In college, my roommate Rick used to win bar bets by walking up
to strangers at the bar and saying, "Hey, I bet you fifty bucks
that I have your name tattooed on my (backside)." The strangers
would almost always take the bet, part because it seemed like an
easy bet from a drunk and part because they were a bit tipsy
themselves. But every taker would always lose after Rick would
pull down to expose his left cheek and the words 'your name'
burned into his skin.

We paid for plenty of bar tabs thanks to his tattoo, but as he
got older, 'your name' warped into a jumbled mess of
indecipherable letters; even after years of enjoying his mark,
Rick joined so many others in regretting his tattoo.

Tattoos are a powerful form of self expression and one of a young
adult's ultimate feats in rebellion. Many people seek out
tattoos because they want to feel unique, or wish to revolt from
paternal objections, or maybe they want to document an important
life experience on their skin. Either way, tattoos are a bold
statement on your body that, while maybe a significant symbol for
yourself at the time, more often than not, can come back to haunt
you.

By now, we are all well acquainted with 18-year old Kimberley
Vlaeminck of Belgium and her 56-piece facial art display. Lying
to the news and her family just to dodge the anger of a
disapproving father is definitely not something she planned on
having to do when she walked into that tattoo parlor to get what
she told the media was "only three stars".

Even though Kimberley secretly liked her face art, many people
who get such extravagant works done on their bodies live to
regret it. Even celebrities have laments thanks to tattoos.

Heroes star, Hayden Panettiere has the words "Vivere senza
rimipianti" down the left side of her body, which is supposed to
mean "to live without regrets" in Italian. Ironically, the word
"rimipianti" is meant to be spelled "rimpianti" without the
extra "i." This is just another good argument for people to not
get foreign words imprinted on their bodies without fully knowing
what they are putting on there in the first place.

A study done through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
in 2006 showed that while about twenty percent of people who get
tattoos are unhappy with their body art, only six percent ever
seek to get them removed. (http://tinyurl.com/6zf6wt)

Several reasons for their tattoo removals ranged from new jobs
that conflicted with their appearances, social embarrassment, or
lowered body image.

However on the other side, laser tattoo removals can be very
costly, which is part why most people do not have it done. Laser
tattoo removal treatments usually range from two hundred to nine
hundred dollars per visit and it generally takes several visits
to a specialist before the ink really begins to fade away.

Even after the tattoo is gone, some people still retain remnants
of the shape of the tattoo in a scar.

So before you decide to ink your skin, plan out what you want
seared onto your body. Is it something really meaningful? Is it
something you won't mind seeing for years to come? And will it
help you win bar bets? If you can at least answer the last one
with a yes, then maybe it might be worth 56 stars after all...

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Cesar Jantz is a freelance writer, who frequently enjoys a good
hearty laugh. But getting a tattoo removed is no laughing matter.
When it comes to removing tattoos, most people think about laser
tattoo removal treatments, but the Nuviderm Home Tattoo Removal
System has been medically tested and proven to fade and/or remove
tattoos. Nuviderm is a clear liquid, not a cream, and contains
no Hydroquinone, a skin bleaching chemical found in most Tattoo
Removal Cream products. Learn more at: http://nuviderm.com/

Is a Tag Line Absolutely Necessary Along With Your Company Name?
Copyright (c) 2009 Marcia Yudkin
Creative Marketing Solutions
http://www.yudkin.com/

In looking through Entrepreneur Magazine's most recent Franchise
500 issue, I noticed - and cut out - a number of ads for
franchises that struck me as exceptionally well named. So clear
and meaningful were these company names that they instantly
conveyed exactly what the company did in an appealing way.

If you saw the company name flash by on a van or embroidered on
an employee jacket, you'd understand the business and maybe even
want to chase down the van or person and learn more. From that
standpoint alone, imagine the immense advantage such a well-named
company has over competitors named, say, Rayne and McFlynn or
Standard Specialists.

Normally a tag line - the little phrase that follows a company
name on business cards, stationery and web site headers - helps
to clarify what line of business the firm is in and how it
differs from competitors, as well as to lend a dash of pizzazz.
In most cases, a business name and tag line belong together like
salt and ___, or like cup and ___. (I'll bet you couldn't help
filling in those blanks with "pepper" and "saucer.")

Yet here are five companies whose advertisements caught my eye as
being able to get by without a tag line. I give them high points.
See whether or not you agree.

1)Relax the Back

This store sells ergonomic products that help prevent back
problems, support the back and neck, and relieve pain. Although
the ad had a tag line, "The best of everything for your back,"
neither that nor the silhouette-style logo of a reclining figure
were needed to understand what this retail store sells.

2)Anytime Fitness

Again, you don't need any brainwork to guess that this company
provides you with a place to work out any time of the day or
night. As a member, you gain access to the club with a keycard
valid 24/7. There wasn't a tag line on the ad, and the stick
figure breaking into a run beside the company name added energy
but wasn't needed for comprehension.

3)American Leak Detection

Here too there is no mistaking what this company does. The tag
line, "The Original Leak Specialists," doesn't really add
anything helpful.

4)Computer Troubleshooters

Another self-explanatory company name. The tag line "Technology
Solved" adds some psychological satisfaction to the
presentation, letting us know that they don't merely try to
solve computer problems, they succeed.

5)Home Instead Senior Care

My favorite of the bunch. I'm not sure anyone needs the answer
to the question "instead of what?" I didn't see a tag line for
this company, either in the ad or on the web site.

So many factors go into choosing a company name that I'm not
proposing all companies seek names like the five above. History,
the type of business, the competitive landscape, domain
availability and other circumstances figure into whether or not
such names make sense and are attainable.

Still, when the stars align, a perfect name can get the message
across on its own. That's good to know!

Why We Women Are Our Own Greatest Enemy When Dating

It is rightly said, "Women never know what they want."

I begin by saying this because, I have learned that while there
are women who want to be committed to one man, there are some
others who seek only attention, gifts, dinners, movies etc, and
still others who are only interested in having a physical
relationship. But all these three categories cannot be used as a
base to judge women and their point of view about relationships
only because, like I said, "Women never know what they want."

So read on and you will know what I mean...

When I was in my twenties, I was once walking my little dog
"spark", and I noticed a man staring at me.

I ignored him and moved on.

He followed me, and without any waste of time, he introduced
himself to me.

As I kept talking to him, I found him to be very interesting and
I knew he was attracted to me too.

This went on for a couple of days, until one day he asked me out
to dinner. I did not even think twice as this was what I was
waiting for.

We went out that weekend for dinner, had a lovely time and I
promptly came back home that night. This went on for months. Our
relationship was growing, we were becoming more than just
friends, got closer emotionally and physically.

Then one evening, I casually asked him where did he think this
relationship was going.

He said he preferred not thinking about it.

It was a little disturbing. I mean, I was expecting him to say
something that put us on a committed path with one another.

When I asked him what he meant by that and why he did not want to
think ahead, he plainly said "because I am a man, and men don't
do that."

I was so puzzled. When everything was going so well, I felt like
our relationship was actually going somewhere. I wanted him to
meet my friends, wanted to have conversations about our future,
marriage, kids, our little home over-looking the park, a little
dog etc. And the more I thought about it, the more I felt, or
rather, the more I assumed he felt this way too. But I was
wrong...

This made me sad the first few days, then angry, then I reached a
phase where it did not bother me anymore, and finally I was
thinking it probably happened for the best and he was not meant
for me anyway.

It made me wonder how just a few weeks back I was dreaming of a
home, kids, and marriage and now I'm glad I'm alone and free
again.

Why is it so hard for us women to decide on one thing? Why do we
always want to put our feet into every shoe?

No wonder men find it so easy to move on and say, "there are
other fish in the sea".

Why does it take so long for women to figure that out? Why do
they wait for reality, or in this case, men, to brutally show it
to them?

There's no end to these questions, but there probably is only
one answer - "Women never know what they want".

Easy Tips To Reduce Your Cost Of Living And Survive Recession

Recession is a period of general economic decline and we need to
prepare for it. Surviving the recession is much easier when you
are prepared for it.

Here are some tips for surviving the current economic crisis.

Don't panic, keep your senses open and pay great attention to
the market news. Only a thorough knowledge about recession will
help you to cope up with the situation. Read books, visit public
libraries, gather information etc.

Calculate your total monthly necessary expenses as well as your
total monthly discretionary expenses. Your total necessary
expenses are those that must be paid even if you lose your job.
Clearing your mortgage or rent, your gas and electric bills,
groceries, your minimum credit card payments are a necessary
expense.

A discretionary expense is an expense you can eliminate without a
substantial penalty. Cable TV, the pool membership, and meals out
are all discretionary expenses. You can get rid of your
discretionary expenses. Get rid of anything that is a waste of
money or is no longer needed.

You can also trim or cut back some of your expenses. Save on
heating and air conditioning. Turn off lights and appliances when
not in use. Cut back on the number of times you eat out. Cut back
on entertainment in general. Instead of going to a movie and
spending money on popcorn, rent a movie and pop some microwave
popcorn.

Try to make dinners and lunches that are more economical.

If you have always paid your bills on time and are in good
standing with your credit card companies, ask them to reduce your
interest rate.

Making these small changes can add up to a few bucks a month.

Spend wisely and prudently.

Always keep an emergency fund with you.

Keep your budget with you at all times. Before you spend money on
something, look at the budget. By constantly referring to your
budget, you will be reminded of your goal. Stay focused and
determined.

Keep your budget updated.

Money breeds money, hence try to find out alternative sectors
where you can make money. Be positive and invest in them because
recession always creates opportunity. Try to earn as much as
possible by making smart moves and decisions.

If you lose your job due to recession, never get depressed or
feel bad about it. Use your skills to earn as much as you can.
Change your field if you want.

If somehow you struggle to make mortgage payments, keep calm and
think for the best possible option. May be you can opt for
extending the mortgage payment period or may be you can
temporarily do away with the interest.

Never try to get your hand on any additional major loans or
debts. It may only deteriorate your current situation.

For some, these tips may be easy. Others may need to make some
lifestyle decisions.

The choice is yours. But for peace of mind, it is better to cut
back your expenses now than to be short of money should the
unfortunate happen.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fred Vanhoosen writes money issues. While he recommends that one
should be careful about using cash advance loans in times of dire
need, he also knows that sometimes we need fast access to fast
money to cover an unexpected expense. When that happens, Fred
recommends http://www.fastcash4all.net/ for your payday loan needs.

Play! The Sanity Saver For Tough Times

The opposite of work is not play. It's depression. So states
psychiatrist Stuart Brown in his new book, Play: How It Shapes
The Brain, Opens The Imagination And Invigorates The Soul.

Brown has conducted more than 6,000 play studies on what goes
wrong when people do not play-studying everything from serial
killers to career-driven CEOs. Given the current plethora of
economic turmoil, negative news, layoff paranoia and growing
unemployment lines, the notion of taking time to play sounds
like a childish daydream. But if Brown is right, we could become
a nation of stress-filled, hypertensive individuals who suffer
far more than we need to and-at the very extreme-become downright
dangerous to ourselves and others.

Brown is not original in his assertion. Anacharsis, a 6th BCE
philosopher insisted that we are to, "Play so that you may be
serious." Even in the Hellenistic world, play gave rise to
scientists, writers, philosophers, and builders of great
civilizations.

If you consider that the task before us is to build rebuild our
cities, our enterprises, and our global community, then play
becomes the non-chemical stimulant for channeling stress into
productive outputs.

Play takes many forms. The trick is to find one that resonates
with you. Consider these examples:

Marc, a job-hunting, highly skilled communications expert in the
entertainment field, coaches lacrosse when he's not
interviewing. He appears more calm and confident since he started
helping youngsters succeed in his favorite sport.

Glenna, a recent widow and entrepreneur, has started dance
lessons and added Bible study to her spare time. Her laugh comes
easier now and she's discovering new ventures for her skill.

Tom, faced with early retirement, collects Japanese postcards
from the 1900s.

Neil, the CEO of a consulting company, goes to an organic farm
and helps his wife prepare scrumptious vegan meals.

Eunice, a vice president in an international organization rides
her Icelandic horse at every opportunity.

And a president named Obama unwinds with a game of hoops.
Certainly no other leader in modern time has had to face so many
internal and external challenges and yet he finds time to play!

Think of these examples and you'll note that play is as much a
state of mind as it is an activity. It is a mental release that
reduces stress levels in the body and engages the brain in a
totally different type of thinking.

Take these three steps to enter the world of play:

1. Give yourself permission to play. Put a play date with
yourself on the calendar and treat it as sacred as the meeting
with your most important client. Remind yourself that you'll
be refreshed and thinking more clearly if you play.

2. Find the play that best suits you. Start a Play diary,
writing down moments of well-being. It might be something that
occurred during the week. It might be as simple as walking the
dog or as complex as taking an eco-adventure tour. It might be a
romantic night with your best beloved or a sweaty 100-mile bike
ride. Whatever it is-in the doing, you feel a sense of
contentment and joy.

3. Pass play along. Encourage others. Make sure you're not the
driver who keeps employees chained to their desks but rather,
lead the way. If you're in a position to do so, create a Fun
Friday where everyone takes a turn at coming up with something
that evokes joy, laughter, and contentment. One organization
forbade e-mail on Fridays between anyone in the building.
Instead, messages were sent via a paper airplanes.

Martin Buber, German Jewish biblical scholar believed that "play
is the exultation of the possible." Isn't that what we all are
looking for now-what is possible!

Go play....so you might be serious.

Cutting Corners In A Stressed Economic Situation
Copyright (c) 2009 Hadley Kincaid
Fast Cash 4 All Net

The economy has really taken a toll upon my family. My wife was
laid off from her job, significantly reducing our total monthly
income.

This has forced us to stick to a very rigid budget, incorporating
everything from weekly groceries to amount of money we can spend
on entertainment. We realized that a budget was going to be
necessary, after a couple weeks of paying bills after she had
lost her job.

The first place we started when constructing our budget was
entertainment cost. Luckily, our only child is 17 and has a part
time job to pay for his activities, so we only really had to
worry about me and my wife.

We stopped going out to eat and to the movies as often as we had.
Instead, we would cook dinner at home, and then catch a matinee
movie for the cheaper ticket prices.

We started buying cheaper alcohol also.

Making these small concessions really made a large difference on
our spending.

We then started looking at how much we were spending on food. The
one thing that people do not really realize is how expensive
going out to eat really is compared to cooking at home. Since we
changed our budget, we have not been out to eat at all.

This includes fast food restaurants. Even though fast food is a
fairly cheap source of food, it still is much more expensive than
buying food at a grocery store.

A nice side effect of this budget cut is that now we are eating
healthier and are getting in much better shape than we were in.
We are both dropping a few pounds and finding that our energy
level is on the increase.

One of the easiest things we did to save money was to start
cutting coupons. $0.40 here and $0.25 there can really start to
add up when you are grocery shopping. If you're not cutting
coupons, then you're basically just throwing money away.

There were also a lot of just miscellaneous cuts that we made in
our budget that, upon first glance, may seem minor, but they
certainly add up.

One of the things was to lower the temperature setting on the hot
water heater to reduce energy cost. During past winters, we would
usually keep the house at 70 degrees. This past winter, we cut
that down to 65 degrees, and instead we just wore heavier clothes
around the house. This made a very significant difference in our
heating bill.

We also raised the deductible on our auto insurance. This saved
us quite a bit, and now we just make sure to drive more
cautiously.

One of the other things we did was to change our phone plans
around. We got rid of our land line, as we use it very little
now. We also cut down the plan we were on for our cell phones.
This means that we will have to be a little more cautious about
how often we are using our phones, but the savings were
significant.

We also started to do home improvement projects on our own. When
the sink drain got clogged up, I took the drain apart and cleaned
it out instead of calling a plumber. We also installed energy
savings light bulbs around the house.

These are among the many steps we took to make it through these
tough economic times. We never really understood how much money
we were simply throwing away each month. But in this time of
economic challenges, we found that we can survive on much less
than we ever thought was possible to do.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hadley Kincaid took up writing to supplement his family's reduced
monthly income. While he recommends that one should be careful
about using cash advance loans in times of dire need, he also
knows that sometimes we need fast access to fast money to cover
an unexpected expense. When that happens, Hadley recommends
http://www.fastcash4all.net/ for your payday loan needs.

more income, and you'll be publicly acknowledged for what you know.

I know some of you reading this will cringe, because you think it's arrogant
and too self-promoting or pompous to call yourself an expert. One colleague
told me, "We can't know everything." Another professional flat out refuses
to be called an expert, even though she's by far and away the acknowledged
leader in her consulting field.

Being an expert - acknowledged authority is another way to say it - doesn't
mean that you know everything. It doesn't mean that you're pompous either.
It does mean that you have a significant depth of knowledge in your field,
that you communicate what you know, and your ideas are accepted by the
media, and by publishers (should you decide to put them in book form), as
well as being broadly available. Why would clients hire you if you weren't
expert in what you do?

In her book, Necessary Dreams: Ambition in Women's Changing Lives, (Pantheon
Books, 1994), Anna Fels tells us that it's human nature to seek
acknowledgement or recognition for our efforts and accomplishments, and that
without that affirmation, long-term learning and performance goals
frequently are not reached. So, why argue with nature?

Let's face it: everyone loves a winner, and experts are high on the winning
scale. Being around winners makes us feel that we're in good company. And
that's what our clients want. Branding or marking yourself as an expert is
not only good for you, it's good for your clients and customers.

Wear The Hat

While there's no step-by-step process as in a cookbook recipe, you can
readily establish yourself as an authority if you follow these few
guidelines.

* Adopt the mindset that you are indeed an expert, and the rest will fall
into place if you stay with it.

* Know your field inside out. If you don't, you're not an expert. Be able to
let what you know roll right off your tongue, and put it into
straightforward, written and spoken presentations that showcase your
important ideas and opinions.

* Be the messenger of new information in your field. If you have your own
new ideas or concepts, you need to put them in writing, get them branded and
packaged, and distribute them all over. They are your contribution to the
existing body of knowledge.

* Apply your knowledge and expertise through your work with clients. Having
hands-on experience gives you your own stories and case studies that are
uniquely yours to draw from; use every opportunity to apply your knowledge
and see how it works in practice.

* Present information in a new way. Alan Weiss, author of Million Dollar
Consulting (and 23+ other books for consultants and speakers), turned the
concept of value on its head by showing consultants how to set fees based on
measured value that results from their work. What ideas do you have that are
contrarian or buck conventional wisdom, that you can prove are valid, and
that you can make accessible and get distributed to a broad audience?

* Write and speak knowledgeably about your field. This will build your
credibility beyond that of a professional running a successful business.

* Let people know that you're an expert. The hallmark of an expert is
visibility. People will start to say, "I've heard your name!" To get
visibility, send your writing to publications that accept article
submissions. Make your writing available on Web sites other than your own,
like this article is. Write a newsletter. Write a blog. Suggest a regular
column for a publication. Better yet, syndicate your own column. Suggest
story ideas to editors that feature you as their primary source. Stay in
touch with editors and journalists by letting them know how you can provide
valuable, expert content for their stories. Pitch your ideas to TV/cable and
radio. Get paid - and paid well - to speak.

* Show your passion for what you do. You'll come across as even more
credible, and your ideas will resonate better with your audiences.

* Not mandatory but advisable: get a Ph.D. in curiosity. Be inquisitive.
Know what's going on outside your usual interest zone. If you don't already
have it, develop a childlike amazement for everyday stuff.

Think about it: You've spent years developing your expertise, building a
strong foundation of experience and knowledge that enriches both your
clients and you. Why not purposefully present yourself as an expert or
authority, and share your wisdom for the benefit of many? Whether your ideas
offer new insights or help transform people's lives, your wisdom is a gift
you can share many times over.

Basil Fact Sheet
by Monica Resinger
http://homemakersjournal.com

Name/Botanical Name: Basil, Ocimum Basilicum

Description: A highly flavored tender annual herb that is used in many
dishes. Sweet basil can reach 2-3 feet tall. It attracts butterflies
and beneficial insects to the garden.

There are many different varieties of Basil such as lemon Basil,
cinnamon Basil, sweet Basil and more. The best way to find variety is
to shop for seeds. I have noticed a few lesser-known varieties of
seeds in the stores, but you will find more variety through specialty
seed catalogs.

Plant requirements: Basil likes well-drained soil that is rich in
nutrients. It also likes full sun and lots of water. Basil also likes
warm weather and will not do well if the weather turns cold.

Propagation: You can start seeds early indoors 6-8 weeks before the
last frost or take cuttings. Germination of seeds takes at least 2
weeks. Directly seeding outdoors after frost has passed and soil has
warmed will also do well.

Planting: Plant Basil in the garden after all danger of frost has
passed and temperatures are consistently 60*F or more. Space plants
about 12 inches apart.

Care: Slugs and snails love Basil so you'll need to protect your
plants from them. You can crush eggshells and put a ring of them
around the base of each plant or put a ring of gravel. Pinch back
often to encourage bushy growth.

Harvest just before flowering or while flowering. You can also pick
leaves as needed anytime.

Uses

In the Garden: Basil can be grown in containers or in the garden as an
ornamental plant. Grow purple leaved varieties next to the green
leaved varieties for a beautiful contrast.

Companion Planting: Basil is said to improve the growth and flavor of
asparagus, tomatoes and most vegetables except cabbage and snap beans
and is said to repel whiteflies. It is also a great companion to roses
by improving their growth and providing some protection from insects.

Culinary: There a many different ways to use Basil in the kitchen.
Here are just a few. The purple or red varieties make beautiful herb
vinegars. Lemon Basil is a great addition to fruit salads or to use
when cooking poultry. Lemon or cinnamon basil can be used in jellies,
honeys, vinegars and baked goods. Sweet basil is excellent with
Italian dishes such as spaghetti.

Crafts: Use lemon or cinnamon Basil in potpourri. Basil is symbolic
for best wishes and warm friendship; this could be taken into account
if you are making an arrangement for a special occasion. Basil can be
dried and used in herb/dried flower wreaths.

Repel Insects: Rub the leaves on your skin or grow in a container near
a troubled area to repel insects such as mosquitoes. You can also burn
sprigs of it on the barbecue or fire to repel them. Place fresh sprigs
of it over bowls of food to prevent flies from landing.

As you can see, Basil is a very useful, decorative and valuable herb
that is well worth the minimal effort to grow. I hope you'll try it if
you haven't already.

21 Plus Tips To Help You Recover From A Personal Financial Crisis
Copyright (c) 2009 Fred Vanhoosen
Fast Cash 4 All Net
http://www.fastcash4all.net/

The best place to start on surviving this recession is to look
around your home, see what you need, see what you want, and
decide between those items.

It is very easy to say I need a new entertainment center, and at
that moment jump in the car and go buy it. But, if you are taking
the current economic conditions seriously and worrying about what
tomorrow might hold in store for us, then waiting may make more
sense than impulse buying.

Often, the entertainment center can wait for better times and
more secure economic conditions.

It takes real courage to say that you will save the money
instead, maybe even putting that money into a saving account that
could earn a trickle of interest until you need it far worse than
you need it now.

As we look towards the unknown economic environment of tomorrow,
it is important to consider that tomorrow could potentially be
worse than today. If that were to happen, you will need some
savings to fall back on, when that rainy day comes knocking.

That is why starting and sticking to a responsible budget may
help you weather the coming economic environment. Please don't
get me wrong... I am not saying that worse days are coming... I
am generally an optimist, so taking the negative view of tomorrow
is not in my DNA. But we never truly know what tomorrow might
hold in store for us.

I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly in my personal
finances - even during good times. For years, I ran through life,
living the good life, buying what I wanted when I wanted it,
because I had tens of thousand dollars in my savings account.
Then the bad days came rather unexpectedly, and my savings were
drained to almost nothing in the matter of only a few months...

Even as I write this today, the good times are returning for me,
but my savings have not been recovered to the level they were at
just three years ago.

Having recently - in the last few years - seen the drama that can
come to one who does not have enough money coming in to cover all
of the bills in a timely manner, I am reminded to return to my
more conservative roots. And in doing so, I can show you how you
can join me in the road to a fat savings account and future good
times.

I have been up and I have been down during my life. I was glad to
put the bill collectors behind me. And for nearly a decade, I
rode the wave of prosperity, never hearing from a single creditor
about a late payment. And then when my finances began to bottom,
the bill collectors started to call.

I came close to a car repossession and house foreclosue - within
two weeks of total financial disaster. And then with my back to
the wall, I was finally able to turn the corner and start
rebuilding my good name. I don't hear from any bill collectors
anymore. Thank goodness.

Stop The Financial Bleeding

The first step to correcting a potential financial disaster is to
figure out what you can afford to keep and what you can bear to
get rid of. When the bottom fell out for us, we put our second
vehicle up for sale. Once we were rid of that gas-guzzling,
always breaking-down, newer SUV - I despise Hyundai today for
that reason - then we were able to stop the financial bleeding.
But we still needed a second vehicle.

So we shopped for a used vehicle that would meet our needs and
found one 200 miles away for just $5,000. The van was in good
shape, but it had a cosmetic issue that reduced the overall price
of the vehicle, by more than $5,000 according to the prices of
comparable vehicles with comparable mileage. We could deal with
that unsightly dent, so long as the vehicle served its function.
We paid our mechanic to travel with us to check out the vehicle,
and then we offered the dealer $800 less than the asking price,
so that we could pay all cash. The dealer agreed and we took home
our new, used Dodge Grand Caravan.

Now, we no longer bleed money to keep two vehicles in the
driveway.

We eliminated one car payment, and we managed to get a second
vehicle that we could reliably count on to carry us where we need
to go.

Set Up A Budget And Stick To It

There are some things in life that cannot be escaped... As the
old joke goes, two of those items are death and taxes.

But honestly, there is also a home, water, electricity,
telephones, transportation and food.

Figure out how much money you need to have available to pay for
each of these items, and then watch the remainder of your money
carefully.

Designate how much money you have available for your home,
utilities, groceries, transportation, and entertainment in each
calendar month. And then make a sincere effort not to exceed the
money you have alloted for each item.

Occasionally, you will run into unexpected expenses - like owning
a Hyundai. The vehicle was just outside its warranty, and we were
forced to spend a whopping $6,000 in
back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back repairs to keep that silly
thing on the road. We blew through $6,000 of our savings in just
three months time... And for most of that time, we were
restricted to having only our small economy car to serve the
needs of our family of five.

Despite what the Hyundai commercials suggest, you could not pay
me enough money to ever own another Hyundai!

There I go on another Hyundai rant...

Be sure to set up a portion of your monthly income to put into
savings. We would have been up a creek without a paddle if we did
not have the savings we needed to keep fixing that piece of crap
Hyundai and to buy its replacement for cash money.

Reduce Your Monthly Expenses

This is actually much easier than you would think. Besides not
buying a Hyundai, reducing your monthly expenses can be pretty
easy and straight-forward.

  * Turn out lights when they are not in use.

  * Cut those 20-minute showers down to 10-minutes.

  * Don't leave the water running when you wash dishes or brush
your teeth.

  * Reuse bath towels between showers. This will reduce your need
to use your washer and dryer, and as my ex-girlfriend used to
say, you are supposed to be clean when you get out of the shower
anyway.

  * Put more clothes into a load of laundry. Once again, by doing
so, you are reducing your need to use the washer and dryer as
often.

  * Clean the lint filters in your clothes dryer between each use,
and clear the lint from its exhaust vent once a month. If your
clothes dryer is clogged with lint, then it has to work harder to
dry your clothes.

  * When you replace your clothes dryer, buy the more expensive
unit that has a Sensor Drying option on it. This enables you to
set your clothes to dry for only as long as is required to get
your clothes dry. Why set your dryer to run for 60 minutes, when
it may only take 45 minutes to dry your clothes? If you don't
have this option on your current clothes dryer, be willing to run
your dryer for 30 minutes and then check to see if the clothes
are dry before setting it to run additional minutes.

  * If your water heater is easy to get to, you can turn off the
water heater when you are not using it, and turn it back on
thirty minutes before you will need it next.

  * Fill the dishwasher completely between each use. In other
words, wash more dishes for the same money.

  * Don't cook in the oven during summer months. Try not to
overwork your air conditioner. A money-saving step that accompany
this tip is to wash out your air conditioning unit or central air
unit regularly with a water hose. The more dust and bugs that
gather in your air conditioning units, the less fresh air your
unit gets, and the more power it has to burn to keep your home at
a comfortable temperature. Along the same lines, change the
filters in your air conditioning system on a regular basis.

  * Buy a big deep freeze to keep those items that you can buy in
bulk at a nice discount. Just the other day, my wife purchased
$108 worth of hamburger for a mere $54 on sale. As a result, we
have enough hamburger to last us for a couple months. This would
not be possible if we did not have a deep freeze in our home.

  * Swap out your curtains during season changes. We keep
see-through curtains on the windows during the winter months (or
when we rely on heating to keep the house comfortable) to enable
more natural light and heat to enter our home, and therefore
reduce our heating bills. During the air conditioner season, we
keep dark curtains on our windows to block extra light and heat
from entering our home. (I know what you are thinking... Brighter
colors reflect light and dark absorbs light, but the amount of
natural light actually reaching inside our home is the real
consideration. Our house is generally ten degrees cooler with
dark curtains on the windows during the summer months, instead of
the see-through bright curtains.)

  * Encourage the kids to play outside, instead of in their rooms.

  * Don't overwater the lawn. While water is cheap, it is not
that cheap.

  * Put solar lights outside to light your yard. We recently
purchased two-dozen solar lights to light the sidewalks and
driveway outside our home. We ended up getting more light outside
at night, and eliminated the need for that big electric-powered
spotlight on our front porch. We were able to get the two-dozen
solar LED lights for outside for under $50.

  * Replace all of your standard light bulbs with the new energy
saving spiral light bulbs. Yeah, they are more expensive to
purchase up-front, but they provide the same level of light,
while using much less electricity. AND the florescent bulbs are
said to last for years without replacement. (We can attest to
this claim to a point... We have had all florescent lights in our
house for the last two years, and we have yet to need to replace
a bulb.)

  * Ceiling fans help circulate the air in our home during summer
and winter - circulating cool air and heat as needed,
respectively. Did you know that you can get cheap ceiling fans at
Wal-Mart for $20 a piece?

  * If you can afford double-pane windows for your home, you will
find that they will pay for themselves in very short order by
significantly reducing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in
the summer.

  * Make sure your doors and windows have a good seal to reduce
heat loss/gain year around.

  * Eat leftovers. Buy in bulk when you can, and cook in bulk when
you can - especially during the summer. If you have to cook in
the oven, cook a big meal that you can eat from for several days.

  * Magic Jack - They are advertising a new telephone line that
you can use in connection with your high-speed internet access,
called Magic Jack. For $40, you can get the equipment and one
year's worth of service. I eliminated an $80 per month AT&T
bill, when I chose to go with the Magic Jack program. And for the
most part, I am completely satisfied with the service.

In Conclusion

When we started to feel a serious financial pinch, we took
actions that eventually led to us being able to stabilize and
recover our personal finances.

  * First, we stopped the money bleeding.

  * Next, we set a budget and started sticking firmly to our
defined budgetary guidelines.

  * Third, we started reducing our overall costs of living,
utilizing 20 of the 21 money-saving tips shown in the previous
section. The only thing we did not do was to replace the
double-pane windows that have been broken by our kids over the
years. All told, we were able to reduce our monthly expenses by
as much as 25%, putting us on more solid ground to be able to
recover from our financial woes.

  * Fourth, we started putting our extra money into a saving
account. Now instead of struggling from monthly cutoff notice to
monthly cutoff notice, we have paid our bills down to current -
with six-week's of living expenses in the bank. We are still
working to get back to the one-year's worth of living expenses
in the bank as we had three years ago, and we will get there in
time.

But the good news is that we are no longer worrying about whether
we will be able to keep our house and cars. We are set up to
recover from our financial woes, and with discipline, you also
will be able to do as we have done.

From time to time, life will hand you a twist, and you will be
required to move from one place to another - this can be the
result of a job transfer, leaving home to attend college, or any
of a number of other reasons. When you move from one town to
another, it is not always possible to bring your partner with
you, and this sometimes leads to the formation of a long distance
relationship (LDR).

I have to be honest, it takes a very special set of people to
engage in the long distance relationship successfully and for a
lengthy amount of time. The weaker among us may work to keep the
facade, while at the same time looking for companionship closer
to home. I will be honest, I am not suited to the long distance
relationship, but I have known people who were able to do it
successfully over a number of years.

When you have a long distance relationship, it is always good to
maintain communication, whether it is through the phone, email or
any other possible means. It can be a bit straining and
expensive, but that is the only means that will keep the two of
you together. These days with Voice Over IP (VOIP) telephone
services, the cost of long distance phone services can be
drastically reduced, but these services require the user to keep
access to a high-speed internet access, in order to successfully
utilize the services.

Partners should also maintain a high level of honesty and respect
for each other. If you do not trust your partner, you will be
kept awake wondering whom they are with and whether they are
still faithful.

Do not ask your partner "who were you with?" or "what did you
do?" There is a difference between genuine interest and
suspicion, and the person whom you ask those questions can
usually distinguish between the two motives.

Insecurity will poison and ultimately kill any relationship.

If you find yourself straying, or simply do not love your partner
anymore, it is always best to come clean. Do not lie or pretend
that you are not going out with someone else. It may be seem more
convenient to hide the truth, but if you try, you are just
delaying the inevitable breakup.

When you decide to break the relationship, do not leave a message
on the answering machine.

Understand if your partner is unable to return your calls
immediately, or does not write that often. It may because of a
new lifestyle or a pressing job.

It also helps to tell your partner what you did, how you are
feeling and where you think the relationship is heading.

Make a habit of visiting each other when it is possible,
especially during holidays. This helps break the gap that the
distance is putting between you. Absence may make the heart grow
fonder, but presence gives it strength. The hellos may seem odd
and the goodbyes painful, but it gets easier with time.

Having supportive friends is also an added advantage. Some may
think it is an absolute waste of time to maintain a long distance
relationship, while others will respect you for trying to hold
the relationship together despite the distance.

A long distance relationship is just like any other relationship
- the only difference is that you will have to work a little bit
harder to stay together. If there is no reason to break up, head
on.

Keep in mind that nothing comes in life comes on a silver
platter. Relationships like anything else in life requires work
to be successful. If you are committed to your significant other
and him or her to you, then the long distance relationship is not
a bad thing. My brother was involved in a long-distance
relationship for more than four years, while he and his current
wife were working their way through college. It worked out well
in his case, and it could work out well in your case also.

If you find yourself involved in a long distance relationship,
you should use this article as a guide to help your relationship
be successful in the end. You never really know what cards life
is going to deal to you, so invest in what is important to you,
and find the fulfillment you have always wanted to find in your
own life.

Advertisers and Online Advertising Agencies
Copyright (c) 2009 Karin Gamble, All Rights Reserved
NetMediaReps, Inc.
http://www.netmediareps.com/

Ten years ago I founded NetMediaReps, Inc., an advertising agency
for online companies, specifically online newsletter publishers
trying to find advertisers for their publications. My decision to
found my own company grew out of my frustration in trying to
obtain agency representation for my husband's company.

After calling more than 25 ad agencies, I discovered that most
agencies charged exorbitant commissions and were only interested
in representing large companies with deep pockets. As a new
startup, my husband's company fell under their radar and follow
up was minimal to nil.

Back then, the internet was just emerging as the new frontier of
business and it was apparent that small and medium-sized
businessses needed effective marketing representation to compete
in this new marketplace, to receive the broadest possible
exposure and to find other companies which could help facilitate
their growth.

My thought was that these companies had an even greater need for
a marketing platform than larger companies to be competitive in
the growing online commercial market. I decided to fill that
niche and started by signing contracts with several online
publishers who needed assistance in selling their ad inventory.
The rest is history - NetMediaReps.com was born.

Knowledge of how to do business, and advertise, on the internet
has grown significantly over the years and data tracking of take
rates, website conversion rates and ROI have become increasingly
sophisticated, helping online businesses to better target their
advertising dollars in a successful and productive way.

Despite these advances in knowledge and technique, there are
still a surprising number of individuals who display a remarkable
naivety regarding advertising and who ask questions that indicate
the lack of a well thought out marketing plan or a basic
understanding of the advertising mediums available to them
online. Below are some examples of not so uncommon questions we
receive and our responses to them:

Question: Your publisher mails to a list of 500,000 subscribers
so I should get 500,000 responses - right ?

Answer: An online publication using a mailing list is like a
newspaper. Recipients don't always feel like reading or looking
at the publication on a given day. They may be busy, on vacation,
disinterested in the topic, or otherwise indisposed. And, like a
newspaper - just because they see your ad doesn't mean they want
to buy from you - at least not at that given moment. It is,
however, a good idea to advertise in publications that archive
past issues or editions providing advertisers with permanent or
semi-permanent back links and the opportunity of receiving
trickle through clicks and sales at no additional cost.

Other factors that can affect response rate are:

  * The number of links in a publication. Newsletters typically
run 1 to 2 web pages in length and are comprised of several
sections all of which contain a few to numerous links. As a
result reader interest and click activity is diffused across the
newsletter rather than focused on a particular ad or link.

  * Ad clarity. A concise, definitive statement describing what
your company is selling and how it benefits buyers is essential
as is an unequivocal call to action.

  * Ad Uniqueness. An ad that stands out generally performs
better.

  * Spam triggers. Generally, words and phrases that are the most
effective in evoking reader response are also the ones that
trigger spam filters both at the ISP level and the reader's
Inbox. Blatant commercial message subjects and ad copy rarely do
well.

  * Message Subject. Shorter subject lines are usually more
effective than longer ones. More imortantly, large web-based mail
services like Yahoo! Mail, MSN/Hotmail and AOL truncate message
subjects that are greater than 38 - 47 characters.

Question: (After receiving ad specs, including dimensions and
file sizes.) Will my 700 x 300 pixel ad be accepted?

Answer: Most publishers will strive to assist you in placing your
ads but are restricted by their newsletter templates from
accepting ads that don't conform to the specs provided.
Submitting an incorrectly sized ad simply delays the start of
your ad campaign.

Question: Why should I advertise when we are obviously in a
recession? Does that make any sense?

Answer: McGraw-Hill Research analyzed 600 companies and their
marketing spending from 1980 to 1985. After 1985, the facts
showed that the firms which had kept or increased their
advertising budgets during the recession in '81-'82 boasted an
average sales growth of 275% over the next five years. The
companies who cut their advertising? They experienced paltry
sales growth over the next five years of just 19%.

So, when is the right time to market your business? All the time.

Question: I noticed my competitor in your publications - can you
tell me how they did, so I can decide if we want to use you?

Sorry. You wouldn't want the details of your campaign provided
to your competitors. Our advertisers have an expectation of
privacy and confidentiality in regards to performance criteria
such as click-through rates, sales and ROI. Ad agencies and
publishers have an ethical obligation to keep campaign results
confidential.

Even if such information was made available, it would not be that
useful. Campaign results can vary significantly depending on the
product/service offered, price point, message subject, ad copy
and numerous other variables.

Any questions?... e-me ! :)

I can remember when I first heard Lil Wayne spit. He was still
with Cash Money then and he was rapping on a song with Juvenile
and B.G.

I remember thinking at the time that his voice was so unique and
his flow so different that he was probably going to be the only
one out of all three of the rappers on that track to last, yet he
was the most low-profile and only had like four or five lines in
the song.

Now, almost ten years later, I have sooooo been proven right.
Juvenile? Nowhere to be found (though he did attempt somewhat of
a comeback). B.G.? Nowhere to be found. Lil Wayne? On top of the
freakin' world. Everybody either has worked with him or wants to
work him. Not only is his semi-whiny voice different from anyone
else's, but his rhymes are amazing.

Wayne is a prolific rapper, at once witty, yet kind of gutter
when he needs to be. He has officially crossed over into the rock
and pop spectrum, yet still maintains his high level of street
cred with the hip-hop crowd.

How many artists can claim that?

He is the top selling rapper on the market today, even bigger
than the likes of Kanye West or Jay-Z, both of who had greater
commercial success earlier than Lil Wayne, aka Dwayne Carter, aka
Weezy (as he refers to himself).

He has garnered critical acclaim as a four-time Grammy award
winning artist and became the first artist in almost five years
to sell a million albums during the first week that Tha Carter
III was on store shelves. In fact, Tha Carter III was the
best-selling album of 2008, going on to sell three million copies
in the U.S. after its June 2008 release.

This rollercoaster ride of success hasn't been all fun and games
for Lil Wayne. He has had his bumps with the law (what rapper
hasn't?) and he enjoys regular inbibing of syrup (some funky
concoction of juice and promethazine or codeine). I think these
kinds of lumps in life only prove to make him better. After all,
who wants to hear anyone spout off about hard times when you
don't know they've been through any....particularly if they
have millions of dollars.

Now, Weezy heads out on the road this summer for the America's
Most Wanted music fest. Lil Wayne is the headliner, and will be
joined by Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Canadian emcee Drake. This
current tour is the follow-up to the uber successful "I Am Music
Tour," which hit 47 venues around the United States.

America's Most Wanted is traveling throughout 21 cities in the
U.S. and Canada (Lil Wayne Toronto concert fans get ready),
kicking off on July 27 in Scranton, PA. Atlanta Lil Wayne fans
can expect a tour stop and there will be a Dallas America's Most
Wanted concert tour stop as well. Even smaller venues will get a
piece of the action as Weezy rolls through North Carolina with a
Raleigh Lil Wayne concert scheduled in early August.

This will prove to be a great show, since all of the artists
involved are amazing. Jeezy and Soulja Boy have their own
faithful following, and are both Atlanta rappers with a huge
existing fan base.

Drake is the opening act and is perhaps best known for acting on
the hit teen show Degrassi and has apparently been being groomed
for his musical debut by Weezy himself. Drake is also rather
well-known for his alleged hook-up with Rhianna, though the two
claim they are just friends.

MORE SOURCES FOR SUBMITTING AND RECEIVING REPRINT ARTICLES

There are in fact 100's of groups just like this one where one
can submit articles or one can retrieve articles for reprint.

I know that there are hundreds of these groups, because as the
owner of http://thePhantomWriters.com, I personally manage more
than 80 groups of this type.

You can find groups of this nature on YahooGroups, Topica,
SmartGroups/Wanadoo Clubs, Google Groups, MSN Groups and other
similar services.

The group that I own and manage that has the largest membership
and the largest number of articles being submitted every month
is:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Free-Reprint-Articles

This is a very high volume list, and I do recommend that if
you subscribe to receive articles from this group, that you do
subscribe in Digest Mode. This group publishes nearly 500 new
articles every month.

TYPE OF CONTENT AVAILABLE

Free-Reprint Articles among others are groups that accept all
content posted, so long as that content is not in the form of
advertisements.

Of the groups that I manage and those that I do not own --- that
permit article submissions on any topic --- number in the range
of 30 groups.

Altogether, I have in my database 180+ article submission
groups. Like I said, 30 groups accept articles on all topics.
The remaining groups accept articles on very specific niche
topics only.

Examples of the niche topics served include:

  - Health and Fitness
  - Medicine
  - Alternative Medicines
  - Healthy Living
  - Nutrition
  - Sports Health and Medicine
  - Mental Health
  - Diabetes
  - Illness
  - Recovery
  - Terminal
  - Death
  - Caregiving
  - Healthcare
  - Self-Improvement
  - Motivation
  - Inspiration

As you can see, the niche groups provide a lot of range in
topics covered. This enables you to send and receive articles
for reprint in very tightly focused categories.

SPECIFIC PLACES TO SUBMIT AND RECEIVE ARTICLES FOR REPRINT

I have a huge list of sites that hope to tell us where we can
submit and locate articles for reprint. Here is a short list of
those sites:

  - http://www.passionforbusiness.com/a-lists.htm
  - http://homebiztools.com/article-dir.htm
  - http://www.eastrovedica.com/html/articlesubmissioncenters.htm
  - http://www.homebiz-direct.com/articleWriting.html
  - http://www.arcanaweb.com/resources/article-directories.html

  - http://thephantomwriters.com/x.pl/tpw/info/faq/12.html

There are literally hundreds of groups where articles can be
submitted, and there are hundreds of online article banks where
one can submit an article directly.

INFORMATION FOR WRITERS

From polling I have conducted with writer's, no matter how many
groups and websites are available to receive reprint articles,
the average writer submits articles to fewer than seven groups.

This is where my site, http://thePhantomWriters.com, comes into
play. I built my own software which permits me to submit a single
article to as many as 180 groups and five online article banks.

I send a single email to every group that will accept the
article being submitted based on the topic of the article. By
sending single emails, I can be assured that my submissions will
not be rejected on account of cross-posting. Cross-Posting is a
practice of constructing one email and sending it to dozens or
hundreds of destinations.

Most article submission groups prohibit cross-posting. And, most
ISP's consider cross-posting to be a form of Spam and grounds
enough to terminate an ISP account.

By using my service, a writer does not have to be subscribed to
any of the 180 groups to get their articles delivered to the
groups that are relevent to their topics. All subscriptions and
email is handled through my alternate domain,
http://Article-Distribution.com.

In addition to managing all group email and submitting an article
to all relevent groups, I provide multiple records on every
article I submit for my clients.

I also provide my client's articles a place in my online article
bank, and I provide a Cut-and-Paste ready copy of every article
in an autoresponder that is available to any publisher who wants
to reprint the article.

I provide paid advertising and significant promotion to draw more
publishers and webmasters to my archives, so that they can also
find articles that they would like to publish in their ezines,
newsletters, and on their websites. On occasion, articles I have
distributed have also ended up in hard-copy books. Here is the
link to my online article archives for your perusal:

    http://thephantomwriters.com/free_content/d/index.shtml

I also provide paid advertising and substantial promotions to get
more publishers and webmasters to join the double-opt-in article
distribution groups that I manage. Once again, the purpose is to
bring new outlets to the articles that I distribute for my
clients.

MORE ABOUT MY SERVICE

The Phantom Writers is a sole proprietorship, operated by myself.
My wife assists me in distributing the articles when time is
short.

Instead of providing my software as a tool that anyone can use, I
provide it instead as a service. It has always been my contention
that any service, that permits the general public to provide the
service to themselves, will be abused.

In order to keep the system strong and effective, I must control
all article distributions. On rare occasions, I have refunded
people money because I felt that their submissions would be
detrimental to the whole service. The credibility of our service
with publishers and webmasters is a necessary ingredient to the
success of all articles distributed through the service.

We offer several options for the purchase of article
distributions. You can review the payment options at:

http://thephantomwriters.com/x.pl/tpw/info/distribution/purchase.html

All articles will generally be submitted within 72 hours. It
must be noted that we do not submit articles on weekends in
order to improve the likelihood of articles being reprinted.
Most publishers polled have said that they only make their
article selections Monday through Friday. So, we make sure that
the articles we distribute are arriving in their mailboxes Monday
through Friday. Occasionally, we will submit an article late on
Sunday night so that the article will be in the publishers
mailbox bright and early on Monday morning.

For a writer to submit an article to seven groups and a dozen
websites can take as much as two hours of tedious, repetitive
tasking. Or, the writer can pay me a small service fee, and I
will get the article out to more groups and more websites than
the writer will generally hit on his or her own.

If you want to learn more about my program, or see which writers
have had good things to say about my program, you can visit my
website directly for the additional information.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Think Twice: Tattoos Could Last A Lifetime
Copyright (c) 2009 Eileen Howerton

Tattooing yourself seems like a really cool idea when you're
young, but the reality is permanently staining your body with ink
is a horrible idea. There are so many reasons to think twice,
before going to the tattoo shop.

Many people have realized only after the fact that they now
regret the decision they made the night they went to the tattoo
shop.

Tattoos seem so very awesome when you're a teenager. Even though
you might not think so, you will one day grow up to be an adult.
As an adult, you might not think so highly of tattoos. In fact,
you might grow up to find that you find tattoos might make a
person look trashy or unattractive.

Know this: fads come and go more quickly than you can imagine.
What was totally cool in the eighties and nineties are now
considered lame. Can you imagine the regret some people now
experience for having gotten Vanilla Ice or Hammer Time tattoos?
Can you imagine the ribbing they get from family or friends for
having chosen such a lame tattoo?

Believe it or not, your tastes will change as you grow older.
Remember how much you loved Barney when you were a kid, and how
stupid you think he is now? You will probably feel that same way
about what's cool today - ten years from now. Life is a
continual process of maturing and changing.

Tattoos might seem like a wonderful way to express yourself. But,
do yourself a favor and take up poetry, creative writing, or
other art forms. If you choose tattooing to express yourself,
you're bound to regret it.

Think back to a past girlfriend or boyfriend, to those strong
feelings you had for her or him. Now think about how you feel
about them now. This goes to show you that even the deepest
emotions can be fickle, or can change completely.

Even if you think you have the perfect tattoo picked out, one
that seems timeless, one you would never ever want to get
removed, consider this: people might make fun of it. My husband
got his initials tattooed on his upper arm, and he's been
regretting it ever since... People have made comments like, did
you think you were going to forget your name? The tattoo itself
is in weird lettering such that people think it says 3R instead
of JR.

He had wanted to get it removed, but we simply didn't have the
money for many years.

Though you've probably heard it before, you should also think
about future employment opportunities. Sure, right now you might
not think you'll ever want to work at a place that cares about
appearances, but in the future you probably will, because you'll
need to make real money. Having a tattoo on your neck, forearms,
or hands will severely limit your employment options.

Tattoos could even hinder your personal growth. Right now you
might love the goth scene, or the skater scene, but in a few
years, you might want to change, and tattoos will make that
harder. Like it or not, people do make judgments based on
appearances.

In the end, it is your choice... By all means, get a tattoo, if
that's what you want to do. But beware: there are consequences
for every choice you make in this lifetime. If you're just
wanting to rebel, consider getting an earring: it's cheap and
easily undone.

Tattooing your body is simply not the wisest decision you can
make - especially when this decision will have long-term and
permanent consequences...

There are two things wrong with a tour featuring Lady Gaga and

There are two things wrong with a tour featuring Lady Gaga and
Kanye West. To start, let me just say that I think both people
are two of the most talented voices in music today. They are both
innovative and daring with their music. They are both
trendsetting fashion gurus that are always wearing something no
one else has even though to put together. They are both pretty
easy on the eyes, in their own funky way.

And they both have egos the size of the Pacific Ocean.

So, how do their handlers propose to make these two titans tour
together without the ensuing drama that goes along with tours ---
and stars --- of this nature?!

Anyone who has been paying attention to entertainment news in the
last three or four years has heard (at least once) one of
Kanye's rants about his genius and how the rest of us don't
quite recognize it. He has lamented (quite loudly) the loss of
various awards and has essentially said that anyone that isn't
on board the Kanye Express doesn't know a thing about anything.

Gaga isn't much better. She is as self-involved as Kanye is and
once said that songstress Christina Aguilera was actually trying
to steal her style, which is crazy considering Gaga has been
around for like five minutes....and Aguilera for more than 12
years.

I think the most interesting aspect of this tour is the fact that
Kanye has already come out to clarify that Lady Gaga is not an
opening act, but rather a co-headliner. Way to play that one, ‘Ye
because you already know that Gaga isn't playing second fiddle
to any other artist on tour, not since the success of her solo
tour effort.

Now, these two artists are always interesting to look at,
visually speaking, and both put on shows with lots of creative
flair. So, I am interested to see what a Kanye/Gaga collabo will
look like on a huge stage. No doubt there will be a Mack truck
full of bells and whistles and funky extras that no one has ever
thought to throw together before.

But when it comes to the play to the fans, which after all are
the point of any concert, will Gaga and Kanye have the ability to
look away from their respective images in the magic mirror to put
on a great show? Or will they drown the pool of their own images,
putting on a show that appeals to nothing but their huge, hulking
egos? I suspect the latter, hope for the former and say it
remains to be seen.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lynda Belcher writes for http://www.ClickitTicket.com/ a website
that sells affordable concert tickets to Kanye West tickets
(http://www.clickitticket.com/hiphop/Kanye-West-Tickets.asp)
and Lady Gaga tickets
(http://www.clickitticket.com/concerts/ladygaga/default.asp)
and almost any other concert you'd want to attend.

Great Bargains at Thrift Stores and Yard Sales
by Monica Resinger
http://homemakersjournal.com

I love the thrift stores and yard sales because there is a great variety of
items and these items are usually very inexpensive which saves me a lot of money
for spending on other items or saving. Here are some examples of great deals
that I find.

Books: I love reading and before I discovered the books at the thrift stores, I
was a book club member spending a small fortune on books. Then I realized I
could find books at the thrift stores for a fraction of the price. This is our
local Goodwill's prices for books: hardbacks: $2.99, paperbacks: $1.99,
magazines (this includes craft leaflets) .29, children's books .99. There is a
great variety and the books are organized into categories. You can also find
books at yard sales, but usually there isn't a huge variety. If you are lucky
enough to find a book you want at a yard sale, it's a lot cheaper than even the
thrift stores!

Coffee mugs: Our local Goodwill charges .50 cents each! What a steal! These are
mugs that are in good condition and yes, it's possible to find them without
chips. In fact, most of them look like new. Yard sales are usually cheaper yet.

Craft items: I have found brand new or very close to brand new squeeze type
dimensional paint and acrylic paint for .25 cents each--another steal! I have
also found beads in plastic baggies for .25 cents each. Silk flowers in large
plastic baggies I have found for as low as .79 cents and as high as $1.59. There
is also a ton of sewing patterns and material--I'm not sure of the prices on
these because I'm not a sewer, but I'm sure they are a good bargain. Knitting
needles and sometimes crochet needles are another find.

Picture Frames: Picture frames at the Goodwill usually run from .99 to 2.99
depending on how large and what shape the frame is in.

Household decorations: I decided to re-do our living room in a tropical, sea
type theme. I had a lot of fun with this project and still am. If you go to the
thrift store with a theme in mind such as this, you will find all sorts of
stuff! My favorite find was a puzzle someone had put together and framed for
$1.99. The puzzle was a picture of underwater life including a turtle and
tropical fish. I have found fish tank decorations for around .49 cents and if
any of you have bought these brand new, you know they are very expensive. I have
found ceramic shells, real shells, ceramic fish, paper mache fish, and more very
inexpensive items to decorate my living room. I decorate all rooms of the house
including the front and back porch with this method, and if I ever want to
change a theme, it's pretty cheap to do it.

Clothes: I can't stand paying $30 for a shirt or a pair of pants. I really can't
stand paying $30 for children's shirts, pants or shoes because they grow out of
them so quick. Some people may frown on buying used clothes, but I see it as
sensible. Most of the clothes found in the thrift stores and yard sales are in
very good shape and you can't even tell they are used. My daughter who is twelve
enjoys looking for clothes at the Goodwill more than I do. Sometimes when I shop
department stores for clothes, I can't find anything I like, but at the thrift
stores, there is such a variety that I don't have a problem with this. A few
years ago, I paid $9.00 each for pretty, new looking winter coats for my
daughter and I.

Baking pans: A few months back, I needed a loaf pan, so searched the Goodwill.
Sure enough, I found one that looked brand new for .69 cents!

School supplies: I have found kid's Fiskars scissors for .49 cents and binders
for .69-.99 cents. There is also bagged markers, pencils and crayons.

Rubbermaid or Tupperware containers: These are only .19 to .29 cents. It will
take some digging to find container and lid matches sometimes, but for the
price--dig!

What is needed to find treasures at thrift stores and yard sales is patience and
knowing what you want.? I go on a regular, sometimes weekly, basis which allows
me to find a great variety of items.

I hope this article has inspired you to go look for great bargains at the thrift
stores and yard sales. Another benefit of shopping this way is helping the earth
by keeping this stuff out of the landfills.

Victims And Relationships Don’t Mix!

Article Description:
====================

In order for relationships to be truly fun, fulfilling, joyful
and loving both people have to be emotionally healthy. That
doesn't mean you still don't have some issues to resolve -
that's part of life. It does mean that you aren't living a life
as a victim of a past experience(s) and continuing to recreate
more victim experiences.

Victims And Relationships Don’t Mix!
Copyright (c) 2009 Carol Chanel

In order for relationships to be truly fun, fulfilling, joyful
and loving both people have to be emotionally healthy. That
doesn't mean you still don't have some issues to resolve -
that's part of life. It does mean that you aren't living a life
as a victim of a past experience(s) and continuing to recreate
more victim experiences.

If you want to have an amazing "rockin relationship" you can't
be a victim and you can't be with a victim, because you will
either set the person up to victimize you, or they will set you
up to victimize them.

The Law of Attraction says we get what we think about, whether we
want it or not. So if you're afraid of being a victim, you will
have victim energy and you will attract a victimizer. Or you will
perceive what someone does to you as victimizing you.

Let me give you a personal example. I have a childhood friend who
had some experiences growing up that were painful. He was a
victim, at that point. As he grew older in order to get attention
he, probably unconsciously, stepped into the role of the
"victim." Women flocked to him to take care of him, to nurture
him and to rescue him.

All of that might be okay, if he didn't need to keep wearing the
cloak of victim and recreating victim experiences - day in and
day out. And he will try to set people up to victimize him.
He'll interpret everything through the victim filter. So if you
say you can't do something that he wants you to do, then you are
letting him down; he'll play the "Poor Me." For example, if he
calls one day when you're super busy and can't talk, he'll say
you were unkind to him.

He also attracts people who do take advantage of him. Remember
you get what you think about, whether you want it or not.

Now if you've been around someone who sees themselves as a
victim, and lives as a victim, then you know it's a miserable
and drama filled existence. Their lives are all drama and you
can't have a normal, healthy relationship with them. And they
aren't living in their truth as a powerful human being connected
to pure positive energy.

That's the place where you want to be and want the other person
to be.

The most important part of being around a victim is to not
collude with them. Don't see them as a victim. Don't hold them
in that energy. That's what they're used to. That's what they
think they want, because that's how they're used to getting
attention. It's the "Poor Me" routine. Don't go there with
them.

What if instead you saw them as creative, resourceful and whole?
What if you saw them as learning how they really wanted to be in
life and that the victim role was one they played for a while and
might now choose to leave behind?

From that place you're not pulled into their victim energy and
they might be encouraged to change their perspective, to move
into a new more fulfilling role.

Are You A Victim?

Now I've been talking about other people being the victim. What
if you see yourself as a victim?

This is close to my heart, because I used to see myself as a
victim. And sure enough, I would have experiences that made me
look and feel like a victim.

Then one day a wise American Indian elder said to me, "You can
either be a victim of your circumstances, or be victorious in
your learning."

I loved that perspective. It felt so uplifting and powerful. And
I realized I had a choice. And from that moment I always look at
how to be victorious.

During the Beijing Olympics, US track and field star Lolo Jones
was running the 100-meter hurdles final, in which she was heavily
favored. She was leading the race when she clipped the second to
the last hurdle. That knocked her off her stride and she finished
well out of the medals.

What she said after the race - being victorious, not a victim -
was that she felt the gold around her neck and that caused her to
lose her focus for a split second. When you're jumping hurdles
that split second is all it takes. She's not a victim. She may
have not have medaled, but she knows what she did and she has a
powerful learning that will be with her for the rest of her life.

Victims miss the opportunities for learning.

How Can You Be Victorious?

So if you see yourself as a victim, or if you keep being a victim
of others, how can you change?

Before I tell you how to change I want to ask you to not be hard
on yourself if you've been a victim. Sometimes, when we realize
we've been creating it, we can get upset with ourselves. Don't
go there. You didn't know any other way to be. And now I'm
pointing out another way. So start with the "Beginners Mind" -
open and curious, like you are starting your life over. You are.

So the first step is stop being mean to yourself. Your ego is the
critical part of your mind. The victim's ego is cruel, critical,
perfectionistic and judgmental. You can go to my ezine archive on
my website and read May 18, 2004 "What Is Your Negative
Self-Talk Doing to You" and June 29, 2006, "How Your Ego Holds
You Hostage" to get information on how to quiet your critical
voice. Your ego is your critical voice. The truth is it's
probably not even yours, it's probably a father, mother, sibling
or teachers voice. Don't give it attention. Be kind to yourself.
Talk to yourself the way you would want a wise loving mother to
talk to you.

Second, stop seeing yourself as a victim. Start remembering the
good things that have happened to you in your life. The thing
about victims is they don't look at the good things, or they
discount them, or the focus is so weighted on the "bad" things
that they don't give any attention to the "good" things.

Third, pay attention to where you might unconsciously set
yourself up as a victim. If you know that a friend isn't
responsible, don't ask them to feed your cat while you're on
vacation. If your assistant doesn't have good people skills,
don't ask her to talk to your clients. If your boyfriend is
always late, don't ask him to take you to the airport to catch
your flight. Don't set yourself up!

This one is a little tricky, because you've been unconsciously
doing this for a while. If victim things are still happening,
you're still doing it. Now remember, be kind to yourself. It's
okay, you're in the process of changing.

And fourth, don't victimize others. I know you're saying, I
would never do that. But I guarantee you, victims will at some
point, unconsciously victimize others. Even if it's just a
judgment or criticism of another person, or an abrupt
communication. And if you unconsciously victimize another, then
you'll feel really badly about yourself. Then from that place,
you'll attract more victim experiences. So be conscious of your
behavior.

And if you have victimized others, in any way, forgive yourself.
I'm not saying to condone what you did; I'm saying to realize
that you didn't know what you were doing. You were in a victim
perspective and you were unconscious. You were wounded and you
were reacting out of that wound.

Here's a lovely little saying I repeat every day:

"I call on the Law of Forgiveness for myself and all mankind,
for all mistakes, misqualified energy, human unconsciousness and
for straying from the light."

We are all trying to do the best as we can. We will make
mistakes, we will go unconscious and stray from the light. And we
can go back into the light and become victorious in our learning.
And we can feel great about ourselves and from that place attract
the most wonderful experiences into our life!

It's a choice. You can either be a victim of your circumstances
or victorious in your learning.

Choose victorious!

Imagine the possibilities...

George Washington, Known OPSEC Practitioner - OPSEC In His Own Words

OPSEC Professionals

Arguably, no President in history has received a legendary status
equal to George Washington. His reputation as a gifted military
leader stems partially from his unique perspective as the leader
of counterinsurgency forces (as a young officer in the Seven
Year's War) and as the leader of an insurgent army (in the
Revolutionary War).

Within OPSEC circles, Washington is often quoted as saying,
"Even minutiae should have a place in our collection, for things
of a seemingly trifling nature, when enjoined with others of a
more serious cast, may lead to valuable conclusion." While this
is certainly true you must understand that this is a lesson our
first president learned through bitter, near fatal experience.

Washington's first experience with OPSEC (a term not used at the
time, but the principles remain the same) came at the age of 21
when he was a young officer in the Seven Year's War under
British General Braddock. The effective French intelligence
network (no doubt enabled by ineffective security) was able to
ascertain Braddock's moves well in advance and successfully
ambushed the combined British and Colonial forces on their first
expedition. In this attack, the combined forces lost 615 of their
officers and 914 soldiers; in addition General Braddock was
mortally wounded and barely escaped with the aid of Washington.
Before his death four days later, Braddock gave Washington his
ceremonial sash, one of the two reminders of this lesson that
would stay with him forever.

If this hard lesson taught Washington one thing, it was the
necessity of effective intelligence, as well as that of secrecy.
He was later quoted as saying, "(U)pon Secrecy, Success depends
in Most Enterprises - and for want of it, they are generally
defeated."

With this philosophy, Washington would establish and lead an
effective spy network during the Revolutionary War. These spies
would operate, at times, directly with or under British forces
and would provide Washington with critical military information
regarding British plans, strategies and objectives. In order to
evade detection, all agents would memorize and refer only to code
names (for instance, George Washington was only referred to as
"711" and New York was "727"), which demonstrates a clear
understanding of the importance of obfuscating key names and
locations. Using the same scheme for names and locations also
helped to hide their true meaning. In addition, the use of secret
codes, invisible ink and encryption demonstrated Washington's
awareness of the necessity of not only attempting to avoid the
capture of information, but also to prevent the use of
information should capture occur.

Unfortunately, this valuable lesson seemed to be forgotten when
Washington sent a seemingly harmless letter to his dentist in
Philadelphia asking for denture wires and a cleaning tool. In and
of itself, this letter provided no military intelligence of value
when it and other messages were captured by the British. However,
some of the other messages indicated a potential attack on New
York. Sir Henry Clinton, then chief of the British Army, was
skeptical. The letters almost seemed too good to be true
especially when you understand that Washington's skill in
military deception was known by the enemy. Clinton was left to
wonder of the validity and value of the "intelligence."
However, Clinton correctly reasoned that this letter would most
likely not have been included in a package was to be
intentionally "captured" and surmised that the captured
intelligence was legitimate. Clinton was able to strengthen his
forces in New York, prompting Washington to abandon that
campaign.

This setback did not discourage Washington from continuing to use
deception and disinformation however. This lesson learned became
a very effective strategy to fabricate documents to be
"captured", or to instruct agents to discuss certain matters in
areas that British soldiers or spies were able to overhear, or
even to intercept messages meant for British forces and alter
them before passing them along seemingly unchanged. For example:
When Washington had his army outside of Philadelphia he
instructed his procurement officers make sizable purchases of
supplies, and even constructed fake military facilities, which
convinced the British that his 3,000-strong army contained 40,000
men.

Throughout the war, Washington relied heavily on espionage and
intelligence. The Culper Spy Ring, headed by Major Benjamin
Talmadge (under the pseudonym "John Bolton") learned that the
British had plans to attack an allied French expedition in Rhode
Island (it is not clear how British Forces learned of the
landing). Washington responded by planting false intelligence
with British agents indicating that he intended to move against
New York City. In response, the British Commander held his forces
at New York, which had the additional benefit of masking
Washington's movement towards Chesapeake Bay and Yorktown. It
was imperative that Washington's forces practice good OPSEC in
order to avoid detection of this grand deception.

Washington understood the importance of educating those under him
about what we've come to call OPSEC. In a clear early
understanding of what we now know as the OPSEC process,
Washington wrote to thank James Lovell for a piece of
intelligence, saying, "it is by comparing a variety of
information, we are frequently enabled to investigate facts,
which were so intricate or hidden, that no single clue could have
led to the knowledge of them. . . intelligence becomes
interesting which but from its connection and collateral
circumstances, would not be important." He also spoke to General
Rufus Putnam in August 1777 about calculating an adversary's
strength, saying, "Deserters and people of that class always
speak of number. . . indeed, scarce any person can form a
judgment unless he sees the troops paraded and can count the
divisions. But, if you can by any means obtain a list of the
regiments left upon the island, we can compute the number of men
within a few hundreds, over or under." This "training"
prompted Federalist William Duer to write, "To say more in a
Letter, might be imprudent" when discussing a matter of
potential value.

Similarly, to the credit of the Continental Congress, the first
secrecy agreement was adopted for government employees. It read,
in part, "I do solemnly swear, that I will not directly or
indirectly divulge any manner or thing which shall come to my
knowledge as (clerk, secretary) of the board of War and Ordnance
for the United Colonies. . . So help me God."

Perhaps the best example of OPSEC in Washington's strategy was
in the attack on Stony Point. Stony Point was an ominous British
fort on the Hudson River, with walls 150 feet high, water on
three sides and a swamp on the fourth, and an imposing garrison
of 500 men and many cannons. Colonel Wayne was convinced that it
could be taken, and eventually convinced Washington that it could
be done. Washington approved the plan with the advice, "That it
should be attempted by the Light Infantry only, which should
march under cover of the night and with the utmost secrecy to the
enemy's lines, securing every person they find to prevent
discovery". Note especially the use of darkness to mask movement
and the securing of potential witnesses/agents. Because of this
secrecy, the surprise attack was a success resulting in only 15
American deaths versus 63 British.

Clearly, George Washington effectively led the newly formed army
to victory not only because of excellent military tactics, but
also because a solid understanding of OPSEC. If OPSEC
(http://www.opsecprofessionals.org) can help General Washington
win a war then who are we to deny its use today to protect our
sensitive information?

What My Mother Taught Me About Credit Cards And Family Finances
Copyright (c) 2007-2009 Braxton Heitz
Jobs And Paychecks
http://www.jobsandpaychecks.com/

My mother is an amazing woman. She made some of the hardest jobs
imaginable look easy. No matter how hard her day was, she always
had a smile and perfect hair.

She was mainly a stay at home mom but she worked cleaning houses
when our family's financial situation called for more income. My
dad was a soldier, so he didn't make a lot of money. The
holidays usually wiped out our family savings account, but no one
ever complained.

My mom has always been a money master. Her philosophy is a simple
one that has never failed her. Work hard and spend little.

Mom is not an old woman, but her mother was raised during the
Great Depression and eventually had to raise seven children on
her own. She taught my mom how to make a can of beans last for
weeks and my mom taught me, much to my husband's displeasure.

While I admire my matriarchs' simplistic approach to finances,
it does not address the inevitable problems of credit and taxes.
My education in money matters was limited to just mom's basic
philosophy of life.

The world outside of my parent's traditional home was not quite
what I was expecting, or what I had been prepared to handle.
Despite the best intentions of my foremothers, there are still a
few things that I wish my mother had taught me...

Credit Card Interest Hurts

Getting my own credit card for the first time was such a thrill.
I bought my share of useless junk that I did not need.
Unfortunately, I was not as cautious with my spending as I should
have been.

Before I knew it, my credit card balance was astronomical. I
could barely make my minimum payments. Since I started out with
no credit, my interest rates were astronomical. It took months of
payments before I finally began to pay on the principle and not
just the interest.

After about a year I finally paid off the balance of my initial
expenditures. I've been much more cautious with how much I will
charge on a credit card, since my initial graduation from the
school of hard knocks.

Don't Spend Money You Don't Have

Credit cards are tempting; because they allow us to spend money
we don't have in our pockets. Ideally, when we spend money, we
have the money in our bank accounts and just forgot to go to the
ATM. Of course, most of us know that this is not the case.

Sometimes we spend money on important things. Buying groceries on
Tuesday when we don't get paid until Friday for example. These
are harmless purchases as long as we keep in mind how much we are
getting paid on Friday.

Keeping a budget is probably the greatest thing a credit card
holder can do. With a well-planned budget, anyone can track their
finances in a way that allows them to spend wisely and with
confidence.

Keep a Record And Look At It

With the ease of using credit cards to pay bills and buy stuff,
it can be difficult to keep an accurate record of where our money
is going. Ours is a generation that does not regularly balance
their checkbook. Online banking has made it too easy to just
check our available bank account summaries.

We don't scrutinize every transaction like our parents did. We
simply trust the bank and believe that they would not make any
errors. Credit card companies allow us to make payments online
with out ever receiving a bill.

It has become incredibly easy to ignore the sheer volume of
purchases made in a month. Credit card companies like to help us
in our denial any way they can. But, keeping track of where we
are spending our money is the key to maintaining our accounts and
our credit rating.

Good Credit is Important

A good credit rating can mean the difference between advantageous
and difficult situations. There are many perks to having a good
credit rating. Low APR rates are one of the best benefits of
having a good credit score.

Being able to make major purchases, such as a home or a car, also
requires good credit. The total amount that an individual will
have to pay for a loan is determined by how much he or she pays
in interest. If someone has bad credit, one could end up paying
thousands of dollars more in interest over the life of a loan.

Good credit is easy to come by, if we are responsible. Paying our
bills on time is the best thing we can do to help our credit. Not
putting too much on a credit card or having too many credit
cards, can also improve a person's credit score.

Rewards Are Good

I love presents and I love shopping. Getting rewards from my
credit card company feels like little thank you gifts for
shopping. It is a great feeling. I wish I could get presents for
doing all of the things I like.

While each credit card company is different, almost all of them
offer credit card rewards to their customers for spending money,
something we have to do to anyway. With so many options available
for credit card reward programs, it would be impossible to not
find one suited to our needs.

Reward options are endless. One can receive cash back rewards,
airline miles, travel rewards, or even discounts at some of our
favorite stores. For the more humanitarian shoppers, there are
rewards programs that donate a percentage of a purchase to the
charity of their choice.

Take Advantage of All of the Perks

Special credit card offers are some of the best ways to save
money on items we would have to purchase anyway, no matter what.
Everyday household items are a necessity. Taking advantage of a
0% interest credit card offer on a cash back rewards card can
help us earn money for buying something we truly need.

Many online websites are dedicated to helping consumers find the
right credit card for their needs. If we take the time to
properly research what it available, we can uncover a whole world
of moneymaking possibilities. They exist right under our nose.

In many cases, it is possible to fill out an online credit card
application and receive instant credit card approval. There are
countless ways to find a credit card application for the
consumer's card of choice.

Contacting a favorite store and inquiring about their credit
options is an easy way to save money where we like to shop. Many
people choose to receive a credit card from their bank to help
establish a better relationship with the bank.

Final Thoughts

It is amazing how much we learn from experience. Unfortunately,
most of it is from bad experiences. I know I would much rather
learn from someone else's mistakes, but people generally do not
like to talk about their bleak financial histories.

My parents did a good job of teaching me how to work hard and
build a good life. Knowing about all of the rules and pitfalls
surrounding credit, loans and credit cards was sadly missing from
my life lessons.

Schools are beginning to offer personal finance courses, but they
do not yet require students to take them. Every year, more and
more people declare bankruptcy and our schools do nothing to
educate our youth about the pitfalls of taking on too much
credit.

With a sound foundation of the demands of responsible spending,
credit cards can be a great tool. Whether you discover through
experience or education, the knowledge of how to care for your
finances will be one of the most important things you ever learn.

PLR is material that the author gives rights to change and/or
redistribute the product(s). These can be just about any product.
The author can be very strict in one extreme, to all the way the
other way to letting you change it completely as you want, give
yourself the credit and relink any links to your own site(s).

PLR has a bad rap as spammers flood video sites, article sites,
blogs, and other sites with this, usually it is going to be
duplicate content as someone else has already spammed the site
earlier with it. A lot of PLR is watered down filler and/or sales
pitches with little or no real information.

The following methods are if the original author(s) allow it
according to the documentation.

Find the best PLR with real information.

These are just a few methods that can be used with PLR saving you
many hours of time coming up with your own information from
scratch. PLR can also give you ideas that may only have been
touched on in the material but you can expand on it to make the
material original.

  * Combine products into unique packages that cannot be found
anywhere else. Give away part of it and sell another part.

  * Change the format. There are services that charge to do this
so this is a viable service as you can change an article into
video slides or video screen capture tutorials using paid or free
software. Change audio into articles or the reverse of this.
Utilize live video or streaming video services using PLR that has
not been done in this fashion before. People benefit from these
formats as they may not be able to utilize a product easily or at
all in the original format.

  * Avoid selling products that can be found for free as they are
or sending it to sites that want original content.

  * Give them away as bonuses for free to make an original product
more attractive as many people may not have known about this
before.

  * Auction unique packages of PLR. Sell for next to nothing if
you want and build your mailing list for your email newsletter.

  * Find the best PLR and give away in individual packages from
your site(s) and build your mailing list.

  * There are free and paid PLR membership sites that bring in new
original content all of the time. Be the first to utilize this
content and or give away the memberships using their affiliate
programs that these sites offer.

  * Use PLR to give answers to questions about items in question
and answer forums. Run a link to the material. Selling from here
is going to probably get you the boot off the forum. Give the
first package away free but sell an expanded package. Stay on the
exact topic of the forum or the boot is likely to happen. Your
sign on signature can have a link to the free content.

  * Make a free "viraling" Ebook. Many Ebooks are worthless
using regurgitated info scraped from help files of sites. People
can tell you scraped it as it will be easy obvious information.
The better it is the more viral it will go. Give real info that
is combined with good PLR. Put it in pdf format using paid or
free software with your live links to your site(s).

  * One of the best uses of PLR is to use part of it for you email
newsletters combining it with your own original content to expand
a subject.

Create Information Products - Step by Step On Using Ghostwriting Services
Copyright (c) 2009 Alan Cheng
Best Instant Sites
http://www.bestinstantsites.com/

Successful online marketers create information products that are
in-demand and sell them online. It's one of the most popular and
effective ways to make money on the internet. An information
product, or an ebook requires no inventory and the profit margins
are huge.

In this article, I'll summarize the crucial steps you need
follow to create your own information product by outsourcing to
respectable ghostwriting services...

The reasons you would want to outsource your information product
creation are:

1. You have a phobia with writing, or you just don't like the
task

2. You don't have enough time

3. You don't have the expertise to create information products

If any of the above applies to you, then you can consider using
special ghostwriting services to create the information product
for you. This is a fast and easy way to create a quality product
to sell, while you can fully concentrate on just marketing the
product.

Here are 5 steps on how to create information products by hiring
a professional writer.

1. Choose Your Niche

To decide the topic for your ebook, you need to do some thorough
online research. You should choose a niche which many people have
an interest in, and who are willing to buy the information. It
will be even better, if the niche is something which you're
knowledgeable in.

Go to forums that are related to the niche, and view the posts.
See if there is a lot of interest on certain problems which
people want to know about.

Next you can search for magazines whether online or offline, and
see if there's a magazine for the niche. This is proof that
there is demand for the topic. Otherwise, people would not run a
magazine on it.

Never, try to create an ebook on a topic which has never been
done before. Chances are that it won't sell. Try to look for
similar ebooks that are already selling well and create an
information product which is better.

2. List Out The Problems

Once you've decided what your information product is about, you
need to list out certain problems which the market is interested
in. If the subject is about PC repair, then you need to list out
the common problems people would want to know about repairing
PCs.

Get this information from forums and from search engines.
Consolidate the list of problems and choose the best ones which
you think your prospects will be interested in.

3. Hire A Ghost Writer

Your next step is to hire a ghost writer, or ghostwriting company
to write your information product. There are many professional
writers which you can find online, but don't choose one based on
the lowest price.

You need to hire a professional writer who has experience in
creating information products for their clients. This includes
the ebook, website, sales copy to sell the ebook, squeeze page to
capture prospects' emails and a thank you page.

Some companies offer these ghostwriting services as a whole
package, but there aren't many of them. An example of such a
company is 'Best Instant Sites' which offers a complete
solution for creating information products.

4. Discuss The Terms

With your chosen ghostwriter, you need to discuss the terms
before giving payment. Tell them your idea of the information
product you want and list the subjects you want written about,
from what you gathered in your research.

Ask the professional writer to research the topic in more detail
when writing the ebook. Then ask when the delivery date is. Never
push the writer for an earlier deadline. You want the ebook to be
written professionally. Rushing a writing project seldom creates
quality.

For the design of your website, tell the ghostwriter what kind of
look you're looking for and the words you want shown. Give
examples of website designs that you like so that the
professional writer knows your preference.

5. Following Up With The Progress

A few days before the deadline of your information product,
contact the ghostwriter and ask him or her for the progress. He
would either tell you everything is as planned or he would tell
you that there is a possible delay.

The point of following up is to tell the writer that you care and
it gives him a chance to ask you any questions he can think of.
You can even ask for a draft of the website design to see if it
matches what you want.

Good professional writers will always contact you a few days
beforehand if there's a possible delay, but just in case you
hired a not-so-professional writer, it will be wise if you
followed up a few times before the deadline.

Following these steps, you can create an information product of
your own and start making money online like the experts. The key
to success is hiring the right professional writer. You need a
writer that has experience in creating information products. And
of course, you also need good marketing skills to sell your
product online. Some ghostwriters offer advice on marketing
online. You need to ask.

Multiples

Corner Stork Baby Gifts

Baby showers really help prepare Mom for the arrival of her new
arrival - especially if she's having multiples. It goes without
saying that babies need a lot of stuff! Twin babies means twin
baby gifts! From baby bottles to baby blankets, everyone will be
seeing doubles before the day is done. Now, you'd think after
all of that Mom would be ready for the big day, right? Well, not
quite. Nothing can prepare Mom for the onslaught of questions
that seem to follow twins wherever they go. But, take heart, oh
brave Mom. If you're having twins, maybe this list of questions
(and quick-witted answers) might just arm you with the ability to
fire back - or grin and bear it. (Caution: To avoid altercations,
these eyebrow-raising answers are to be served with a smile and a
hearty laugh as the chaser.)

Question:. Are they twins?

Answer #1: No, they're complete strangers!

Answer #2: Twins? There's only ONE baby here. You must be seeing
doubles! (Then look around strangely)

Answer #3: (my personal favorite) No, I just had sex with two
different men on the same day. It's just my luck that both of
them got me pregnant!

This tops the list as the most common question asked about twins.
That's why it rates three answers. Although harmless, it can be
quite annoying by the time you've answered it for the thousandth
time because the answer seems so obvious. Basically, what
they're saying is that the whole twin thing intrigues them, and
this is the best way they know to strike up a conversation. So,
you'd better get used to this question.

Question: Which one is older?

Answer: Neither. They both came out at the same time, and boy did
that hurt!

Why do people feel compelled to ask this, as if a matter of
seconds would really make a difference in their personalities?
Birth order typecasting does not really apply to multiples. They
grow up together, completely side-stepping the oldest-, middle-
and youngest-child syndromes.

Question: How come their names don't match?

Answer #1: Uhhh, because we didn't want them to!

Answer #2: Well, we thought having their faces match was enough.

Why do people always assume that because of their looks their
names need to match, as well. But, I say ix-nay on the twin-ay!
Let your children be individuals and purposely choose names that
don't rhyme, start with the same letter or otherwise "go
together." It will put them on the path to personal freedom.

Question: How do you tell them apart?

Answer: We can't. That's why we tattooed their names on their
feet at birth.

How ridiculous! Even with identical twins, there are differences
- even if they are subtle. No one is an exact duplicate of the
other, otherwise they'd be clones! It might be a heavier face or
more closely set eyes. Taking the time to get to know twins,
you'd be amazed at how different they really are.

Question: Did you have them "naturally?"

Answer: Naturally, I had them. What did you think - the twin
fairy dropped them off?

You have to give this response as if you're totally oblivious to
what they're really asking. It turns this very delicate and
private discussion of how they were conceived (or delivered) on
its ear. How rude for someone to even ask or imply that you had
artificial insemination. Is that any of their business? This is
an extremely personal question, and one which strangers have no
business asking. Whether they are referring to how the multiples
were conceived (ie with fertility enhancements) or how they were
delivered (vaginally vs. c-section), that is between you and your
family, and its simply not polite to ask unless the person is
already on familiar terms.

Question: Are they Siamese twins?

Answer: Do you need a dictionary?

A Siamese twin is someone who is physically joined to his or her
sibling. And, they are rare. So, obviously, if you're looking at
two separate individuals who are not joined together, they can't
be Siamese. It amazes me that anyone would even ask that.

Question: Are your boy and girl twins identical?

Answer: No, one was born with a penis.

I must say this to the chagrin of plenty well-meaning folks out
there, but boy and girl twins cannot and never will be identical
twins! Identical twins are formed when the same egg splits in
two. One egg cannot be both male and female. So, if you see boy
and girl twins, they are most definitely fraternal.

Okay, I know I said seven questions, but here's one bonus
statement...

Statement: I'm glad they're yours and not mine!

Reply: Me, too!

Enough said.

While most questions and comments are genuine and not intended to
offend, some can be down right rude and personal. Don't let it
get the best of you. Just know that you're a part of an elite
group that everybody just can't help talking about.

Finding Flags made in the USA is not easy. Civil War flags,
Military Flags and Colonial Flags hold special meaning to many
Americans, especially those that have served in the Armed Forces.
However, it is very discouraging to purchase a flag only to find
a label Made In WhereEver!! And there are so many different ones,
that mean a lot to particular groups, like the Military or
Historical Buffs.

History Of Flags:

The original 13 star version of the United States flag originated
on June 14, 1777 and the current 50 star version originated on
July 4, 1960. The flag is the most recognized symbol in the
nation, and this country has had many different versions
throughout its changing growth and history.

While the flag represents the government established under the
U.S. Constitution, it has always represented our freedom and
liberty. It has been said that the stripes represent rays of
sunlight and the stars refer to the heavens, or the highest place
a person can aim to reach.

This symbolism is true of the United States flags, however, other
flags, such as Military and Civil War flags have a different
symbolism represented in the emblems and layouts chosen. The
majority of Colonial flags are based on the original versions,
including the famous Betsy Ross flag, which is the most symbolic
flag story, other than the story of the Star Spangled Banner
version, which our national anthem is based on.

Civil Wars Flags:

For Civil War history buffs, these flags made in the USA
symbolize different periods in the Civil War era, and the flags
were flown at different times in the history of the Confederate
Union. While it was an American War, there are many people,
especially in the South that still pay honor to the Confederate
soldiers that fought for their rights of different opinion, right
or wrong.

Many of the Southern States still fly what they call the "Rebel
Flag". In fact, these flags have actual names, and they are made
in the USA. Flags that are similar in appearance are the C.S.A.
Naval Jack Battle Flag, C.S.A. Cavalry Battle Flag, C.S.A.
Artillery Battle Flag, C.S.A. Infantry Battle and General Nathan
Bedford Forrest Battle Flag. These flags are symbolized with a
Red background and the Blue "X" of White Stars.

Other Civil War Flags available are: General Robert E. Lee
Headquarters, C.S.A. Eleven Stars and Bars, Union Thirty Four
Star, Union Cavalry Guidon, Custer 7th Cavalry Guidon, Terry's
Texas Rangers, Confederate 1st, 2nd, and 3rd National flags, and
the C.S.A. Bonnie Blue Flags. For the Civil War enthusiast, this
is a comprehensive of historical flags, at affordable prices,
most under $50.

Military Flags:

These flags made in the USA primarily honor the different
branches of the military, although they include the POW/MIA flag
and the Jolly Roger Pirate Flag. You can get the flag that
represents United States Army, United States Navy, United States
Marine Corps, United States Air Force and the United States Coast
Guard. Many military veterans are delighted to get these as gifts
and they fly them proudly throughout the United States.

Colonial Flags:

There are a wide variety of Colonial Flags made in the USA. These
include flags that were flown at different times throughout the
Colonial period of the United States. They include the Betsy Ross
flag, Grand Union flag, Star Spangled Banner flag, Washington's
Headquarters flag and the Bunker Hill flag, for example.

There are a variety of other Colonial flags that may be familiar
to some people and not others, such as Commodore Perry, Taunton,
Cowpens, Bedford, Continental, Bennington, Gadsden, Culpepper,
Fort Moultrie and Guilford Courthouse flags. Some of these flags
have significance to people in certain areas or through
historical family references, but for flag collectors they can be
difficult to find in many places.

Choice of Materials:

Most of the flags made in the USA are 3 foot by 5 foot flags, and
they are available in Sewn Cotton, Sewn Nylon or Sewn 2 ply. With
reinforced edges and brass grommet flags, they are constructed
for the wind and weather elements of the United States and not
cheaply constructed like overseas flags. So be sure to check the
labels before you purchase!

Changing Your Company Name: The Good, The Bad and The Unnecessary

Wondering whether or not to change your company name? Several
reasons for doing this are legitimate. Other reasons should make
you stop and reconsider.

Most of the time, companies that come to my naming company
frantic to find a new name for their firm or for a product do so
because of legal problems. They've received a case-and-desist
letter, and it's cheaper and wiser to switch than to fight.

Even those who follow corporate name games probably don't
realize that Kentucky Fried Chicken falls into this category. In
1991, the company told the public that they were changing their
name to KFC because health-conscious consumers were shying away
from the word "fried." Since the name change coincided with the
introduction of several purportedly healthier menu items, this
seemed plausible.

In fact, however, in 1990 the state of Kentucky had trademarked
its name and created the requirement that any business using the
word Kentucky for business purposes would have to obtain
permission and pay licensing fees. Kentucky Fried Chicken took
umbrage at the idea of paying for a name they'd used since 1952.
Their negotiations with the state broke down, and they adopted
KFC as their new name.

The second most common impetus for an organizational name change
is a word in the name that's gone out of favor with the industry
or with the general public. For instance, the Massachusetts State
House is considering legislation to rename the Department of
Mental Retardation the Department of Developmental Disabilities,
in keeping with altered notions of appropriate labeling.

The same goes for company names that sound old-fashioned and out
of date. In 2009, a shop called Fotos and Film raises the issue
of whether or not they're in step with today's digital
photography.

The third good reason for changing your company name is that the
name no longer fits the services you perform and the goods you
sell. If you launched as Westfield Wire and now you make mainly
cables, renaming is indeed in order.

Likewise, geographical growth or relocations can render a
business name obsolete. If Gerard County Savings Bank expands
beyond Gerard County, it should put itself in line for a name
change.

Got a name that people just can't remember or that they confuse
with your competitor? One company came to us for renaming because
even people who'd previously bought from them couldn't remember
whether they were, let's say, MyGrandPhotos.com (correct) or
YourGrandPhotos.com (the competitor). Renaming makes sense for
that situation, too.

If you're just plain tired of your name, however, forget about a
name change. It involves a lot of expense and effort to convince
the public to get on board with the new name. Don't go there for
frivolous, unnecessary reasons.

The final situation, mergers and acquisitions, which often prompt
renaming, depends on the situation. Restaurants that take over
from a disreputable or failing establishment do well to signal
their fresh start with both a name change and redecoration.
However, a company that was humming along fine before the change
of ownership should usually continue with the name they had
before. In business, longevity and consistency inspire
confidence.

Fun and Frugal Home and Garden Tips
By Monica Resinger
http://homemakersjournal.com

~ If you are in the middle of a painting project and need to stop for the day,
simply cover the tray, roller and brushes with a plastic bag and put into the
freezer rather than cleaning everything.? Bring the covered tray out about a
half hour before you begin painting the next day to allow it to 'defrost'.

~ Make an easy and cute bird bath; turn over a heavy planter, then put the
saucer on top as the water-holder.? These can be painted decoratively or to
match the colors of your home. ?

~ Make a frugal wreath; visit your local thrift store and you'll find a
selection of used wreaths you can fix up by adding a bow and silk flowers (silk
flowers and other wreath decorations can also be found at thrift stores!).

~ To add color to your houseplants, poke a couple silk flower stems into the
soil.

~ To remove odors from anything, use straight vinegar.? You can spray it on
walls, furniture (test an inconspicuous area first) or other items.? Don't worry
about the vinegar odor because it dissipates along with the original odor.

~ One easy way to help improve your diet and save money at the same time is to
stop buying junk food!? If it's not there, you won't eat it!

~ If you'd like to save money and you eat out a lot, rather than stopping
altogether, consider cutting back the number of times you eat out.? For example,
if you eat out twice a week, eat out only once.? This isn't very hard to do, you
still get to go out, and you'll save some money.? Later on, you can cut back
even more.

~ Sometimes you can save money by grinding your own hamburger.? If hamburger is
expensive, check out the chuck roast or steak prices; if they are a lot less,
get it instead.? Then take it home, cut it into chunks that will fit in your
food processor or meat grinder and make your own!? Another benefit of doing this
is that you know exactly what is in your ground beef!
