About Speaker

Jeffrey L. Friedberg was raised in a small coal-mining town in eastern Pennsylvania. Main Presentation 11:00 AM, Sat. July 14th, 2007 Room 150  Eric L. Prentis, Ph.D.

Eric Prentis, the author of The Astute Investor and The Astute Speculator, performed scientific research to show that the stock market is a discounting mechanism which looks ahead and discounts the news, rather than being efficient and operating like a giant casino. This means that some limited technical analysis and all intelligent fundamental analysis are cost effective and will earn above average returns at a lower risk than a buy and hold portfolio, or said in another way, correct knowledge and proper action results in above average profits in the stock market. Learn whether the stock market is undervalued or overvalued, the long term trend in the market and how to calculate corporate intrinsic values and margin-of-safety multiples like Warren Buffett. Questions, during and after the talk, are welcome.

Experience

Since 1988, Dr. Prentis has dedicated full time to stock trading, investing, and stock market research to complement his trading knowledge. He is a stock market investing expert who has experience in good stock markets and bad. The Astute Investor and The Astute Speculator are a culmination of  Dr. Prentis’ practical stock market experience and understanding of investor’s needs through work as a Registered Investment Adviser and academic training.

Education And Teaching

Eric L. Prentis received a B.S.I.E. degree from Northeastern University, an M.B.A. degree from Boston University, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Houston. Eric L. Prentis, Ph.D., previously on the faculty of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, taught in the MBA program.  ‘Introduction to Advanced Candlestick Patterns’.

Overview for advanced pattern recognition and execution.

Breakout Patterns – Knowing when to get on board and when to take profits
Cradle & Belt Hold Patterns – Easy-to-identify and foretells of a dramatic change about to take place
Fry Pan Bottom – the pent-up power created in this signal can produce very compelling profits.
Trading Gaps – Gaps represent enthusiasm to get into a position to the point that investors will pay prices away from any of the previous day’s trading range. Great for identifying panic selling at the bottom and exuberant buying at the top.
J-Hook Pattern – How to differentiate between profit taking and a full-scale reversal.

Stephen Bigalow possesses over twenty-five years of investment experience, including eight years as a stockbroker with major Wall Street firms: Kidder, Peabody & Company; Cowen & Company; and Oppenheimer & Company. KelseyCare Advantage Standard Option is like Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance), Part B (Medical Insurance - doctors, outpatient etc),

but does NOT contain Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug) coverage.  There are other differences within the program.

Main Meeting: Guest Speaker will be Don Wilson whose presentation will be "Tango5 Presentation with Emphasis on ETFs"

Don Wilson's background has been in large corporations and later in small businesses. He is retired now, but before that he considered myself a businessman. He has successfully owned/bought/sold several small businesses. This has helped him immensely in the investment arena, because you take the same kinds of risk and learn you can't win them all in business. You learn how to control your losses and your risk just as you must do with investing. He started this Tango5 effort to begin teaching his adult children how to invest his way, the Tango way. It just developed from there, now he has some friends and several hundred others around the country, and a few overseas using this process for investing.

He has been investing full time in the financial markets since 1989. Over that period he has tried many types of investments and the one he uses now described as Tango5 and TangoETF works best for him. Tango5 is a packaged semi automatic mechanical Mutual Fund/ETF trading method; all the design and programming is completed for you. All you do is set up the files in the correct directories, download the data, and double click a batch file on your desktop. This runs all the files and outputs a complete report with instructions for "What and When to Buy Sell or Hold". For more visit www.donsfunds.com.

At the April Houston Investors Association meeting we will hold a raffle for Tom Bulkowski's newest book, Encyclopedia of Candlestick Charts.  The raffle is for the benefit of HIA's treasury with the tickets selling for $5 each.  Tom is the author of several books on chart patterns, including the Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns.  Cleve Fontenot and I have had a chance to review it and it's an excellent book laying out backtested results of the most profitable chart patterns. The street price of the book is $150 and is described in the link.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0470182016/ref=sib_dp_pt#reader-link

The drawing will be held on Sat. April 12th at the general meeting. See Tom's site Bulkowski's Watch List
