DEAR PUBLISHING COLLEAGUE
SUBJECT: A FOCUSED, FULL SERVICE FOREIGN RIGHTS OPPORTUNITY FOR
NONFICTION TITLES IN BUSINESS, PSYCHOLOGY, SELF-HELP, PERSONAL
FINANCE, PARENTING, PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, RELATIONSHIPS, EDUCATION,
HEALTH and other selected categories.
Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a past president of PMA
(2-terms). I created the very successful PMA Trade Distribution
Program that has resulted in $10 million in sales for PMA members,
written many articles in the newsletter, and have spoken at many PMA
seminars. I'm proud of my distinguished career in publishing that
has spanned four decades. You can visit my website at
www.bob-erdmann.com to learn more about my experience,
accomplishments, and references.
Now I'd like to introduce you to something that has proven to be very
successful, my FOCUSED, FULL-SERVICE FRANKFURT FOREIGN RIGHTS
PROGRAM. I have always stressed to my clients that a book should be
considered a financial asset. With any financial asset one must
maximize the return on the investment. A source of revenue from a
book that requires very little, if any, investment comes in the form
of the sale of reprint rights to foreign publishers. Reprint rights
can be either in English, or translations into foreign languages. In
either case the entire cost is borne by the purchaser of the rights
who pays you, the original publisher, an advance and royalty. This
is found money!
PLEASE CONSIDER MY FOCUSED, FULL-SERVICE FRANKFURT-FOREIGN RIGHTS
PROGRAM. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's venue for the sale
of these international reprint rights. Believe it or not, it is ten
times larger than BookExpoAmerica. The Fair is a well organized and
"business only" event which this year will run from October 8-13.
Virtually all foreign rights sales are initiated at the Frankfurt
Book Fair. Even with the conditions of the world and the poor
economy, last year was my most successful ever. In the past five
years I have written over 500 rights sales for my clients with
advances up to $25,000. Initial royalty checks for one of my clients
have been well into seven figures! Mine is a FOCUSED, FULL SERVICE
PROGRAM, not simply a display service.
I will again be representing a select group of nonfiction titles from
U.S. publishers at this year's Fair, which will be my 25th during my
40+ year publishing career! I would like to invite your title(s) to
be among that select group. Here's how my FOCUSED, FULL-SERVICE
Frankfurt-Foreign Rights Program works: Unlike other book shows, the
Frankfurt Book Fair is conducted exclusively by prearranged
appointments among publishers from throughout the world which are set
several months in advance of the Fair. I prepare both a printed and
electronic catalog of the titles I will represent. They are sent by
airmail & the Internet to over 1000 foreign publishers. From the
printed and electronic catalog I am contacted by foreign publishers
who schedule appointments to meet with me at my booth in Frankfurt
where all the titles I represent will be displayed "face out." My
appointments run every half-hour for the entire length of the Fair.
If further interest prevails as a result of these meetings I will ask
you to send review copies to those interested foreign publishers for
their editorial perusal and final decisions. Usually 90-day options
are granted, during which time I follow up at regular intervals to
"keep things on the front burner." I will then receive either offers
from them to reprint/translate your title, or (horrors) rejections.
I will negotiate, on your behalf, any offers received and submit them
to you for your approval. After receiving your OK, I will draft
contracts for signatures, arrange payment of advances, and follow
through professionally on your behalf. I will provide you with
simply the best you can get from start to finishcomplete personal,
professional representation of your title(s), not simply displaying
them. It's a FOCUSED, FULL-SERVICE PROGRAM ! ! There is none other
like it !
The fee to participate in my 2003 Frankfurt/Foreign Rights Program is
only $150 per title. On any sales a 15% commission will be deducted
from the advance (20% if one my 17 agents in various parts of the
world is involved). My Program is a FOCUSED, FULL SERVICE PROGRAM
that has a long record of success with proven results and many, many
satisfied clients !
Although it may seem early, I am already finalizing the titles from
this year's participants in my Program so please let me hear from you
by phone/email/fax if you are interested, or have questions.
Remember, A FOCUSED, FULL SERVICE PROGRAM.

COMMENTS FROM CLIENTS PARTICIPATING
IN OUR FRANKFURT/FOREIGN RIGHTS PROGRAM
"We must say that in our business, you are 'solid gold.'
Translation: You're the best there is. One, we like your
perseverance. Two, your logic. Three, your almost fanatic adherence
to details. Lindbergh made the Atlantic crossing because he
persevered every day and every hour to the details right down to
counting the rivets to save weight on his plane. You remind us so
much of him."
Henry & Joan Garbar, Radiant Meadows House Publishing-Maine
"Thanks so much for your efforts with my book, and the graceful and
professional manner in which you do business. I really appreciate
it."
Gayle A. Davis Ph.D., Psychology Connection-Colorado
"Thanks so much for your great work at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Bravo!! I must say that I am pleased that you are representing my

C.M. Mantis, Lindos Books LLC-Virginia
"Compared with the slowness of some other publishing houses, your
working attitude has really given me a deep impression. It's really
delightful to be dealing with you."
Winnie, Horizon Media Publishing House-China
"I received the check you issued to us for the sale of the Chinese
rights to Developing Training Courses. Words cannot express my
appreciation for your expertise, without which it would not have
happened."
