dear friends

Our Corporate ezine PreSense is completing successfully 5th year of publication.  Feb 2011 edition is the 'Diamond Jubilee' edition (60th edition).  With all your support. we are crossing the great milestone of '5 years' in this month.

As you know, we are publishing the ezine in pdf format with one unique theme every month. without any break.  The ezines are published either on 1st or 2nd of every month.  We did not stop, even one issue in all these five years.

If you look at the site www.corpezine.com, you will find that all these five years, we have chosen one unique theme relevant for corporates, communication and youth.  None of the themes have been repeated.  Many eminent personalities, including Dr Abdul Kalam,  have shared their views exclusively with our ezine adding  credibility.  We have also started integrating with podcasts.

As you know, every month, we conduct an online snap survey on the theme of that month, to understand the pulse of the readers.  The feedback provided by the readers help us to design the contents, to suit the readers requirement.

When we are crossing the milestone of 5 years, we stand before you to get your views on our ezine (both positive and negative) and also your suggestion for the 'theme' of 60th edition.

We have designed a snap survey format in the following link.  We have only 3 questions.  We shall be grateful if you could kindly spare two minutes and share your views.  Your views will help thousands of other readers and professionals.  Please click the link:

This survey will remain open only on 3rd and 4th February 2011.  Hence, we seek your immediate attention.

Hi friends

There seems to be a technical problem in the second box in the survey. Respondents may give their views relating to second question, in the first box itself.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

dear friends

We are pleased to release the Diamond Jubilee  (60th) edition of your ezine PreSense with the theme 'Achievers'.  With this issue, we are completing 5 years of journey.  We have been publishing this ezine for the past 5 years without break, on one unique theme every month.   We thank all our readers for the support and encouragement.  This issue is dedicated to our readers.

In this edition, we are carrying an exclusive interview with Dr Subramanian Swamy, on the theme 'perseverance'.  Also, we are carrying an exclusive interview with Mr M Narendra, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Overseas Bank.  Mr Narendra has given few tips to become successful in the career.

We are also carrying some excerpts from the speech of Mr Gopalakrishna Gandhi, Former Governor of West Bengal covering the greatness of our leaders.  Mr Gopalakrishna Gandhi's paternal grandfather is Mahatma Gandhi and maternal grandfather is Rajaji.  He is the grandson of two illustrious leaders of India.

As you  know our cartoon character PRince created by Triambak sharma was launched by Dr Abdul Kalam in August 2008.  All along PRince was giving out messages in every issue in a humourous manner.  In between, PRince was seen with his girl friend also.  Now in this diamond jubilee issue, PRince got married to PRincess.  Our cartoon editor Triambak got both of them married.  From now on, both PRince and PRincess will continue the journey with us every month.

As usual, we have three podcasts integrated with this ezine.  Enjoy reading this ezine and give us your feedback.

We have attached this ezine to this mail.  This edition may also be downloaded from the following link:

Subject: 'Employee Communication' in March ezine PreSense - A snap survey

Send Email Send Email

hi all

March 2011 issue of ezine PreSense will focus on 'Employee Communication'.  Employees in all the  organisations form part of important 'human assets'.  Be it a Public Sector or Private Sector, employees are the 'brand ambassadors' of those organisations.

Are we having good practices of 'employee communication' in our organisations? Or are we treating them as 'robots' for business purposes only?  These are all the questions, we want to discuss in our March issue.

Some of the organisations follow the 'best' employee communication practices to connect with their employees.  Also, some  companies in public and private sector, follow the 'worst' practices.

In order to get a real perspective of this theme, we want you to share your views briefly in the snap survey, which may take around 3 minutes.  Since our ezine is circulated widely among the corporates, your views in the snap survey would be of great help to the other readers.  Please visit the following link to share your views.

We will close the survey on Wednesday the 16th March evening.  Please do not wait till the last date.  Please share your views immediately.

hi all

Media Wing of Brahmakumaris, one of the well known spiritual organisations and Global Forum for Public Relations (GFPR) organise every year in the month of September a National Media Conference, inviting all the media and Public Relations professionals across the nation to interact and share their views.  For the past three years, I have also been attending this Conference and reporting the proceedings in the group as 'live blogging' and podcasting.

This year, they are organising the Conference on 16th, 17th and 18th at Mount Abu (Rajasthan).  Every year around 2000 media and PR professionals across the nation used to participate.  This year also, they expect more number of professionals to participate from all the states.

There is no participation charge.  They take care of the accommodation and food on all these days.

The theme of the Conference for 2011 is "Value based Media - Need of the hour".  The Conference includes various plenary Sessions and dialogue sessions on various topics like,

a.  Role of Media in restoration of moral and social values,
b. Role of Media as a catalyst for a positive change,
c. Electronic Media - its scope and challenges
d. New Media - Its scope and challenges
e.  Current trends in Public Relations

and few more relevant themes.  There will be parallel sessions also, depending on the need, to be decided on the spot.

This year, they are organising an unique media exhibition to showcase the latest trends in technology,  media and Public Relations.

Besides, there will be sessions on stress relieving, meditation and self empowerment to maintain our body and mind more healthy.

As informed earlier, the participants have to make their own travel arrangements to Mount Abu.  Accommodation and food will be provided by them.  Since Mount Abu is the only hill resort in the North India, they will also arrange for sight-seeing to enjoy the beauty of the nature.

Brother B K Karuna ji, Head of the Media Wing and Sister B K Sarala ji, National President of Global Forum for Public Relations (GFPR) have requested me to circulate this information in our group.  Many eminent professionals will be speaking on this occassion.  Still, they also invite Senior professionals from Media and PR  to share their views during various sessions.  Those who are interested to participate in the Conference either as a delegate or as a speaker may kindly contact immediately Sister BK Saralaji over mobile 09396523402 or through email at bksarala@....

This is a great opportunity for all media, PR and other communication professionals to come together and exchange the views, to improve our professionalism.

Please watch the inspiring interview of Mr Tony Good in the following link.

"The news coming out of India to countries outside tend to have more of negative aspects.  Hence, India should accentuate the positive image and  eliminate the negative impage through proper PR strategies", Mr Anthony B M Good, popularly known as Tony Good, a global PR legend said in an exclusive interview with PodUniversal.

He also suggested that Indian youth should look for positive aspect in every setback and grasp the opportunity, available everywhere.

Mr Tony Good, when he was  young,  joined a leading Airline company   as a Public Relations and marketing  Executive.  He lost his job from  the  Company, for no fault of him.  That triggered a 'fire' in him to start an independent Public Relations Company  to prove his capability.

This  independent PR Agency, which he started 50 years back was 'Good Relations'.  This is the first PR Agency anywhere in the world to get listed in the stock exchange at London.

From 1970 onwards, he got associated with India through his association with many companies as a member of the Board.  He is presently the International Chairman of  Cox and Kings, one of the top travel agencies of 250 year old.

In 1986, he  started the Indian arm of Good Relations as an Indian company.  Again, this is the first independent PR and Communication agency in India.

Mr Tony Good  in his  late 70s,  is a great visionary and is considered as a 'legend' in the communication field.

Public Relations Council of India honoured him on 13th Feb 2012 at Mumbai with the coveted 'Life Time Achivement Award' in the presence of a galaxy of eminent communication, media and corporate professionals.

On the next day, Mr Tony Good was at Chennai for few hours.  Since he was hard pressed for time, I travelled along with him to Airport in his car and recorded an exclusive interview with him on various issues.

In the interesting conversation, he touched about the strength and  weakness of Indian Corporates, his ivews about Indian media, India's image outside, his suggestions to Indian youth and Non Resident Indians.

Transcript of the interview with Mr Tony Good

Mr.Tony Good, Welcome to PodUniversal show
Very kind, Thank you

Let me congratulate you for receiving the coveted Life time achievement award from Public Relations Council of India

I feel extremely honored by it. It will be something that I will aspire to, possibly live upto if I can

Sir, you are associated with India and the Indian corporates almost from 1970 that is nearly 40 years?

Absolutely

You know about the Indian corporates and European corporates. What according to you  are the strong points of Indian corporates?

I think there is still very much a family tradition in most of the major corporates and I think that is a strength. I think that they’ve moved with the times in the second and third generation increasingly tending to be educated on an international stage rather than a national one so I think you get the best of both worlds. You get the cohesion that comes from a close knit family business but also though the younger members have gained experience and knowledge abroad which they are bringing to bear in their businesses here.

What according to you are the weak points among the Indian corporates that prevent them to meet the global standards?

Well, I think increasingly they are achieving global standards. I mean if for example you had told me in 1970 when I first came to India that, for example Tata would own not only Tetley Tea and what was British deal Land Rover Jaguar, I think very few people would ever have believed that. And I’ve seen the incursion of Indian corporates to the international stage in the most impressive way.

Do you think the Indian Corporates are building their image properly?

I think, one of the problems that India has is that as a country it is not doing its PR as well as it could and should. Now, you might expect me to say that, but all too often the headlines about India are about their corruption and inefficiency. Now every country has its corruption and sadly my own has been proved recently to be no exception. I think that India has to recognize the need for PR as a country and Indian corporates also need to recognize that they have to promote themselves on the international stage as well as on their local, domestic stage.

Do you mean to say that India is being projected negatively outside?

I think too much of the news that comes out of India tends to have a rather negative aspect to it, yes.

What is the solution?

The solution is to promote the positive, what was the famous song “accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative” and I think that in terms of eliminating the negative there is a big job for the Indian government to do in being seen to the grasp the nettle of the corruption that undoubtedly exists but it also exists in many many other parts of the world.

Now that takes me to another broader question about media. You are seeing the European and the Indian media, What do you think about the Indian Media? Are they more sensitive or more sensational?

I don’t think they are more sensational, no. I think that most of the well established Indian newspapers do a very good job of news coverage. I think if you have followed the phone hacking stories, that I know have been covered here as well as in the UK there is no doubt that some of the practices that have caught on in Britain and I suspect in other European and  International countries I think, Indian Media have a lot to be extremely proud of. Of course they are not perfect, no media are perfect but I’ve seen them come a long way in a comparatively short time.

What is the suggestion that you are giving to the Indian youth because you are a serial entrepreneur, and  you have built institutions.

Well, you are very kind.

I think Indians have a strong streak of entrepreneurialism in them. It would be presumptuous of me to suggest that I can teach the most entrepreneurial nation in the world about how to be good at it. I think what I would say is identifying the opportunity and seizing it, looking at the positive.

I mean the most unfair thing that ever happened to me which caused me to lose a job; a marketing and Public Relations job in an airline turned out to be an opportunity to create a business which if you told me it would end up being listed on the London Stock Exchange, and at that time we floated we were the only Public Relations company with a stock exchange listing anywhere in the world, I would have been amazed. So I think my message to young Indian Entrepreneurs would be

(1) Identify the opportunity
(2) Opportunities are everywhere
(3) Have the courage to grasp it and
(4) Look for the positives in setbacks

What are your suggestions for Indians who are working abroad?

Indian who are working abroad, well I think I would say two things, one is that, and I think they are increasingly learning this, to be infact assimilated into the country as a whole. There was a tendency I think in the past for Indians working abroad to basically gather in small groups, stick together. Now we’ve seen Indians, my good friend Gulam Noon, who has progressed from an MBE, to a knighthood to a position in the House of Lords. Is, I think a very good example of an Indian entrepreneur who has become absorbed into the environment and has become infact a part of it. And I know of many other successful Indian entrepreneurs who have done exactly that.

Thank you very much for joining Pod Universal Show

You are most kind. Thank you for inviting me.

Dear friends

IABC's Gold Quill Awards 2012

International Asociation of Business Communicators (IABC), a globally reputed organisation presents awards annually known as 'Gold Quil Awards' to companies at international level.  This is considered as 'Oscar' of corporate awards.  Entries are received across the globe and judged continent-wise.

I had the unique opportunity of being one of the judges in the panel for evaluating the entries received from the Asian Countries for IABC's Gold Quill Award 2012. This was done this year in India at Bangalore on last Saturday i.e.on 25th Feb 2012.  The entries were in different categories of communication management, communication skills and communication creatiavityy.

Indian companies have great 'untold' success stories

To reach the global standards, all the corporates and individual entrants need to make good presentation of their activities and achievements.  At the end of the day, i realised that many Indian companies achieve many things silently, but without proper documentation.  They are not making good caase studies.  Hence, in spite of the achievements, many Indian companies and individuals do not participate in such global contests and show case their achievements.  Even smaller countries present their success stories well.

Prime Point's Corporate Excellence Award

In order to encourage our Indian companies, including small and medium companies, to show case their achievements in a global standard, Prime Point Foundation plans to introduce 'Corporate Excellence Award' from this year on different categories.

As you know, Prime Point Foundation is already giving Awards for  Parliamentarians every year for their outstanding  performance in the Lok Sabha.  This is under political communication.  Besides, we also recognise 'UnSung Heroes' with awards for their silent performance.

From this year, we plan to introduce 'Corporate Excellence Award'.  Being the first year, we want to confine only to social contribution or CSR initiated by the companies..  From next year, we will introduce more categories.

Mr Bish Mukherjee, one of the prpoint group members and Coordinator of Gold Quill Award 2012 of IABC for Asian Region has consented to help us to formulate the scheme, in line with International standards.

Every Comapny, whether they are small, medium or big contribute effectively to the society.  But they do not properly document them.  For our Award Scheme, we will consider the CSR or social contribution made by the companies during the calendar year 2011.

Awards to be presented on 14th April

We will circulate more details, format in which the presentation is to be made, etc in a day or two.  Meanwhile, you may kindly keep your company informed about this Award and collate the details of CSR done in the eyar 2011. Even small and medium companies can participate.

The Awards will be presented during the  function to  be held on Saturday the 14th April, 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai along with the Awards to Top performers in the Lok Sabha.  Entries will be judged by eminent people and Awards will be presented by the top performing Parliamentarians.

Please await more details.

hi all

Prime Point Foundation was founded in 1998 to promote communication awareness.  The Foundation has been conducting various events and managing various online communication groups.  Many eminent and nationally well known persons are also associated with this Foundation and groups.

For the past two years, Prime Point Foundation has been honouring outstanding Parliamentarians and UnSung Heroes for their excellent performance and achievement.  This is the only organisation in India, which honours the Parliamentarians for their performance inside the House.

The reports and photos of the earlier events of 2010 and 2011 can be seen in the following links.

There are many Indian companies and organisations who are having world-class socially relevant products / services.  From our experience, we find that most of them do not document well and showcase their achievements.  Because of this, they are unable to participate in the International Awards also.

In order to create an awareness about proper documentation and showcasing the achievements, from this year onwards, Prime Point Foundation will be recognising  such achievers  during the Annual Awards function.

We have now introduced a scheme calling for nominations from such companies / organistions who have successfully marketed a commercially viable and socially relevant product / services.  We attach herewith the contest rules and guidelines.

We have designed the contest rules, to match the international standards
and also to suit Indian needs,  in consultation with Dr Y S Rajan (co-author of the book India 2020 with Dr Abdul Kalam) and Mr Bish Mukherjee (Coordinator for Gold Quill Award 2012 of International Association of Business Communicators for Asian Region).

As per the guidelines, Work Plan and Work Sample will have equal weightage.  The Award function will be held on 14th April 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

The last date for submission of entries is 20th March 2012.  A panel of eminent experts will evaluate the entries.  There will be two Awards for outstanding entries.  The entries, scoring more than 75% mark will be given 'Certificate of Merit'.

The Awards will be presented by the outstanding Indian Parliamentarians, who will also be honoured during that function in the presence of eminent persons.

The guidelines can also downloaded from the following link.

hi all

Our ezine 'PreSense' will be back from 1st May 2012 onwards.  The April 2012 issue will be delivered through the groups on 1st May.

As the members may recall, the ezine PreSense was launched in March 2006.  Though, originally, the contents were focussed on public relations and communication, later, we changed to 'corporate themes'.  This ezine was published every month without any break for 60 months.  Every issue had one theme of relevance.  All the back issues are available at www.corpezine.com.  Many eminent personalities have contributed to this ezine exclusively.

Our ezine is an unique one.  We had integrated the ezine with Podcasts and other Social Media.  This ezine was a media partner for International Conferences of PRSA, IABC and CIPR, etc.

After the 60th edition, we gave a break.  Now we are resuming the ezine with new type of contents, at the request of many of our readers.

Presently, we find due to many reasons, cynicism, skepticism have started spreading in the county in the past few years.  A general feeling is being created, as if the entire system is wrong.  This is a dangerous situation, leading to youth losing self-confidence and self-esteem.   There are many achievements and success stories around us which  are not noticed.

In view of this, our ezine will in future will carry the positive and success stories of the nation, individuals, groups, etc.  We will also feature, unsung achievers.  As usual our cartoon character 'Prince' will also add his bit of humour.

Only the contents get changed.  the logo, design, etc. will remain the same.  In future, the  ezines will be delivered through groups on the 1st of every month.

We will write separately how the members of various groups also can participate.

With warm greetings,

hi all

We are happy to release (attached)  the April 2012 issue of ezine PreSense, after a break of nearly one year.  As you know, this monthly ezine PreSense was launched in March 2006 focussing on Public Relations and Communication.  After 2008. we shifted the focus to corporate themes.  We dealt with one unique theme every month.  After releasing the 60th monthly edition, we took a break from March 2011.

This is an unique ezine, that is integrated with podcasts and social media.  This ezine was also a media partner for many International Conferences at UK, US and South Africa.

Now at the request of many of our readers, we are resuming this ezine from April 2012 onwards.  Presently, we are bombarded with more and more negative and cynical messages through various sources.  We have observed that such negativity has greatly affected the self-confidence and self-esteem of our younger generation. It is also causing lot of health problems.  Further, this has  made our younger generation to lose faith on the system itself.  This is a dangerous trend to be rectified.

Hence, from this issue, our ezine PreSense will be used to spread only positive vibrations.  We will publish success stories, achievements of the nation and of the inspiring role models, etc.  Mr V Ponraj, Advisor to Dr Abdul Kalam has also joined our editorial team as Editorial Advisor and will be offering guidance.  We are now working out the template for the new contents.

We will also publish the motivating success stories and social works of the group members.  (it should not be a commercial message).

The ezine is attached herewith.  This can also be downloaded from the following link.

Please go through this ezine and give us your feedback for our future guidance.  You may also kindly circulate among your friends and contacts.

In future, the ezine will be delivered through the groups on first day of every month.

With warm greetings from Editorial team
