Congratulations to Pragma for sponsoring for a superb event
on the 16th and thank you for the privilege of being a part of
it. I note that you had 52 RSVP’s and yet 48 attendees and very few
early departures.
Regarding the resources I promised, let me offer three, for
Pragma’s onward distribution to all attending hoping I might find a few
IAM champions among or with them (feel free to edit or extract but please
acknowledge myself as the source);
The common link to the first two here is either of these two
paths – which-ever works best for yourselves and then the subsequent
links refer from these as well. (note the primary internet Shared
Document Folder holds a lot more for those who want to fish around there
– all public domain…)

TIPS - Please note this is ‘ancient’ internet
technology but good enough for anyone with a sound internet link ‘to fish
into’ – watch out for file sizes and depending on the soundness
(& speed) of your internet link – be prepared to be patient.
1) A simplified first SA translation of Australasian
Practice (much simpler than IMESA’s IIMM but simpler starting points);
“Managing Community Assets” – 50 page
handbook – 3 parts - 13 pages text, 7 Steps and then ‘extra
tools’ – Excellent awareness tool for Councillors
(Link as above and then) /ASALGP_Handbooks/Managing_CA/
2) World Bank “Strategic Municipal Asset Management”
Advisory Note – 1999 / 2000 –
(Link as above and then) /Int_ref/
3) For those wanting to network and to stay connected to the
subject of ‘Infrastructure Asset Management’ within South Africa
(not just water services either), the following portion of a notice put out
from the Water Institute South Africa refers;
To stay in touch with
developments and to receive e-mails, thoughts, discussion
about IAM application etc.
visit www.yahoogroups.com search for and join
the
group = `Infra_Man`.
Thanks again and I wish all ‘well with their
fishing’ here-abouts…
