QUESTION: Just ordered "offshore tax strategies" and it reminded me
that you mentioned back in September that there was some updating to
the Controlled Foreign Tax Guide in process at that time. I was
purchasing the book at that time and you said to keep in touch to see
when the revisions were completed and I would be able to get a copy of
the updated version. Where do things stand?

REPLY: I put the revision of the CFC Tax Guide on the "back burner"
because I was helping with a guide to the preparation of the Form 5471
for members of the tax division of the AICPA. That's almost finished
and is being reviewed by other members of the task force. About a
month ago, I started back on the CFC Tax Guide update.

I'm presently close to being finished with an initial edit of the
revised draft. But there is additional material to include, the
editing changes need to be entered into the document and everything
needs to be reviewed by Richard Duke and a few other tax professionals
who work with foreign corporations. Then a final draft needs to be
edited by a copy editor. Best guess for a release date (absent any
un-anticipated problems) would be late May.

Meanwhile, the 2nd edition of the CFC Tax Guide is available at half
price ($26) via a PDF file. Printed copies are no longer available.
