QUESTION: Why don't you discuss some ways to avoid taxes in this
forum? All you ever do is to pass on the IRS propoganda about what
forms to file and when. And why don't you let the members participate
in the discussions?
REPLY: First of all, I have co-authored a 100 page book called "Legal
Ways to Save Taxes Offshore & Onshore" which includes about 100
different ways to legally reduce taxes regardless of where you live.
(See http://www.offshorepress.com/legalways2save.htm for details.)
Secondly, the focus of this forum as you call it is to respond to
questions from members about international tax or asset protection
topics. Most of the questions that I get are about how to avoid
problems with the IRS by complying with their requirements for filing
various information returns relating to foreign investments or
transactions.
As for open participation by the public in the discussions, I welcome
questions from members of this list and I generally post responses
from members regarding previous messages.
But I choose not to sponsor a list that is both open to the public and
that permits all list members to post messages without any editing.
I've done that in the past and the result was that the discussions
degenerated into repetition, spam messages and flame wars between
members with diverse views. As a matter of fact, I do sponsor two
discussion groups that permit members to post directly to the list,
but they are limited to a very select group of tax and international
professionals on an invitation only basis. So I choose to either
control the content or to control the membership but not to permit
anyone to post anything they want to the groups and lists that I sponsor.
