Hi there everyone! I just wanted to update you on what is going on in District
1. We currently do not have a District Rep so until we get one I will be working
with the District.

If anyone is interested in becoming the District 1 Rep or know of someone that
would be interested please contact me at weidler_hyten@....

There are many plans for this year. We need everyone to get involved in order to
make it a successful year. If you have a little time or a lot of time we need
you! There are many small jobs that need someone to be responsible for as well
as more time consuming jobs.

Our profession is growing, the best way to stay abreast of the current trends is
to be involved. If you have not gone to a board meeting this is the year to give
it a try. I am always willing to drive if someone wants to carpool with me. I
would love to see District 1 fill the room at the next board meeting in July
(the exact date and place has not yet been confirmed but I will let you know
when the arrangements are finalized)

Again, please contact me if you have any concerns or questions. I may also be
reached by my cell phone 785-224-3099.

Thank you,

Kim W.

Just to let everyone know that the KAI-RID website now has on line
registration for both the Mentoring program and the Annual Conference.
It is really easy. For anyone that tried to fill out the application
for the Mentoring program and got frustrated, the new one is fast and
easy. Make sure you have a little time though because there is a pre
survey that needs to be filled out to satisfy one of the grant
requirements and it does take a few minutes. Please spread the word for
people to sign up!

Thanks!

There will be another file coming which is the exhibitor registration

Hi everyone,

We have had a few more people join the group in order to play along
with our vocabulary building games. I have the new group of vocabulary
in game format uploaded for your pleasure. If you have not
participated before, it is recommended that you start with the
matching, then go for the crossword, and finally the wordsearch. The

KAI-RID's annual conference is less than a week away! Here are just a
few highlights:

Friday, March 27

5:30pm: Town Hall Meeting

7:15pm: Keynote Speaker - Amie Seiberlich

8:30pm: "RID – The Musical"

Saturday, March 28

8:00am: Workshops

6:00pm: Dinner On Your Own

7:30pm: Fashion Show & Clothing Swap

9:00pm: Social (bring your dancing shoes)

Sunday, March 29

8:30am: Workshops

Please visit
http://www.kai-rid.org/2008_Conference_Schedule.html
for a complete listing of workshops available at the conference. You
will notice that all of the workshops are broken down into 1½ hour
session; however, the actual time of each workshop varies in length.
Pay special attention to how many parts there are to the workshop. Out
of respect for the presenter and other conference attendees, we
request that you stay for the entirety of the workshop. Priority will
be given to conference attendees that attended the initial part(s) of
the session.

CLOTHING SWAP

Getting tired of the same old clothes? Please bring items you think
others will value but that you no longer wear, then swap! It is
essential that items are cleaned and presented neatly! Clothes left at
the end of the evening will be donated to a local charity.

Our fashion show on Saturday night will feature our very own
conference attendees! It will be an eye-opening lesson on what to wear
and what not to wear on assignment.

Also featuring, our very own clothing swap. The clothing swap will
take place right after the fashion show.

CONFERENCE INTERPRETERS NEEDED

We are in need of a few on-call interpreters, to accommodate our
on-site conference attendees. You can request to be on-call for the
entire day or just for an hour and a half or so. On-call interpreters
are paid $2.00/hour for being on-call ($30/hour if their services are
needed). Interpreters must be KQAS Level 4/5 or equivalent. Please
contact Molly Pourhussin at interpreters@... if you are
interested.

QUESTIONS? Please contact our 2008 Conference Chair, Gina Stokesberry
at conference@... or visit our website at

Hi Everyone!

I have uploaded the vocabulary puzzles that we have discussed. It is
best to start with the matching, then the crossword, and last the word
search. The bottom of the matching page has a place for synonyms and
sign choices. This is were I thought we could get some discussion
going on other word/sign choices, and any other constructive feedback.

Let me know if this is something you would like to continue. I will
post the answers to the puzzles at the end of the month and if I get
the word that we want to do more I will get another set ready for next
month.

Enjoy and have fun!
