Sorry it has been a while. So much going on with graduations and
working around the house. After looking at the maps as you mentioned
Joe I think you are correct. The maps are smaller for the entire
Finger Lakes area, but upon copying it and enlarging it, I would
agree with you. It is more detailed. Please see if the timetable can
be copied.
I had the good luck of meeting Mr. Herbert Trice at a gathering at
Munnsville in late June. I had an excellent conversation with him.
One question I asked was why there were no photographs of 2-8-0
anywhere on the branches for the Auburn division in his book.
According to Mr. Trice, they usually ran to Binghamton on the turn
job. Rarely to if ever to his recollection would a 2-8-0 be working
on the EC&N, Auburn Branch or the A&I. We discussed what local crews
and their type of power were in service in Auburn and Cortland. He
mentioned that for a while there were 0-6-0's and one time an 0-8-0
in Auburn. Did the Valley have this large switcher? With the NYC in
Auburn it is possible it was one of their units and in Cortland it
could have been the DL&W. I am not as familiar with LV power as other
roads I follow.
I have very limited information on the other divisions, as with the
exception of the Auburn Division my collection is predominately Erie,
DL&W, O&W, LNE L&HR and the little M&U/M&NJ. I did acquire a small
collection of images at the Clark show some of which I have scanned.
I do have some images in the area you are interested in from this
collection. The images are small and not many are exceptional. This
images can be enlarged but the quality as you know cannot be improved
if the original is at best average. However, we cannot take new ones
today! I will post one to see what you think.
Hope to speak to you soon.
