History: Nearly nine years ago a local Seattle group that supports women owned businesses was founded by Bettina Carey. Women In Small Biz, a group that began meeting regularly to exchange information and discuss topics related to their women-owned businesses was born. Because of her Puerto Rican upbringing, Bettina has always brought people together to create community with an emphasis on diversity. In 2003, the Latina Women In Small Biz Mercado was also born to better address the Latin woman business owner’s needs.
As a result of this informal networking, the original Women In Small Biz group became a continuous referral source for the women involved that has since benefited them both financially and socially. It is Bettina's belief that similar results will be experienced when Latin women begin to support each other's businesses.
Purpose: Latina Women In Small Biz Mercado aims to empower women to help them succeed as entrepreneurs through professional marketing and powerful networking opportunities.
