In a segment I call "OTHER VOICES" I'll introduce you to a young man I met on the way home from the city's Welcome America celebration on Independence Day, and his little brother ("He ain't heavy, he's my brother). And, talk about the impact of youth violence on our mean streets.[ According to CBS News so far this year, more than one person a day has been killed, most of the murders are unsolved. Since 2002 the murder rate has climbed steadily, from just under 300 to nearly 400 last year. Just a few years ago homicide in our city was at a 17-year low. So what happened? What can we do about it?] (Why can't we be friends?)
