Foundation Sponsors Fifth Annnual Community Festival
Children and Youth are Focus of Event
NORTH PHILADELPHIA For the last four years the Absalom Jones Foundation (a non-profit
501(c)3 organization) has sponsored a Children and Youth Community Festival on the grounds of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Complex located at 4301 N. Broad Street (Broad Street & Hunting Park Ave.) Each year the event has provided health screenings and identity kits to hundreds of children from the Community. Through community Outreach Programs, promotional and informational items have also been distributed.
Carnival rides, games, refreshments and prizes, are all highlights of the day's events according to a spokesperson for the Absalom Jones Foundation.
This year the Fifth Children and Youth Festival will be held on
Saturday July 19th, from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The event will again provide
free non-evasive medical and health screenings to all neighborhood
school age children (accompanied by guardian). Some of the
organizations taking part will be the Albert Einstein Healthcare
Network, and Philadelphia College of Optometry. There will also be
volunteers on hand from the CHIP (Child Identification Program) to
provide a free video, fingerprinting and DNA kit for the children.
Absalom Jones Foundation is asking neighborhood, Block and/or Civic organizations to assist in getting this information out to their constituencies and members. According to a statement issued by the group "There is no solicitation at the Children's Festival all
items and services are free".
