A group devoted to the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway (MMA), headquartered in Northern Maine Junction, ME and operating throughout northern Maine to Montreal, Quebec and northern Vermont. The MMA system consists of 745 route miles of track and associated trackage rights previously operated as the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad (BAR), Canadian American Railroad (CDAC), Northern Vermont Railroad (NVR), Quebec Southern Railway (QSR), and Van Buren Bridge Company (VB). These five railroads had formerly been subsidiaries of Iron Road Railways, a rail holding company. The MMA began operations on January 9, 2003, and itself is owned by Rail World, Inc. The MMA's trackage was first owned by the Bangor and Aroostook (BAR) and Canadian Pacific Railway systems.
