Members of the MoPac Discussion Group,
Today I received the above message from Rick Galazzo of Tru-Color
Paint. Tru-Color Paint took over the former Accupaint line and now
operates out of Phoenix, Arizona.
Recall a few months ago a request from Rick that they wished to add
some new colors to their product line, specifically Eagle Blue, Eagle
Gray, Eagle Yellow. I volunteered to provide Tru-Color Paint with
prototype samples of these 3 colors. In hopes that Tru-Color Paint
would consider adding at least two additional colors, I also provided
Bowles Color Drift Cards of the post-1961 Eagle Blue commonly referred
to as "Jenks Blue" and freight car red used by MoPac on freight cars
during the 1950s-1960s. The latter color was also used by a number of
other railroads during this time period.
Upon returning home from attending the outstanding MPHS annual meeting
& convention at Texarkana, I received a package from Tru-Color Paint
containing pre-production samples of four new colors. I have compared
these new samples to the 4 prototype paint samples, and my assessment
is that they match the prototype colors perfectly.
Adding to this good news is that "freight car red" used by MoPac, which
closely matches the same color used on the Branchline box cars offered
by the MPHS a number of years ago, is being planned by Tru-Color Paint
next year.
Please support Tru-Color Paint (it's excellent paint!) and spread the
word. See their web site at http://www.trucolorpaint.com

Ed Hawkins
