Cattle are herd animals so yes they will be much happier with another cow or
steer. It doesn't matter which, as long as they have a friend. I too have
Nigerian goats. They make the greatest pets. We got them for my little kids
to play with because they obviously couldn't play with the longhorn cattle
and we have fallen in love with the little girls.

I have never had only one cow at a time! I have sold several cows and calves
to people who have just one animal. They will adapt to whatever enviroment
they are in.With the way there personalities are they will bond with what
ever animals or humans are available! Tim

Hi Tim, or anyone,
My main reason for my interest in the minis (especially the Jerseys), is to
have a family cow to provide milk (and also be a pet), but I wouldn't want
her to be the sole bovine. Even though I have a couple horses (one mini 30"
tall, and one regular size), and am getting a pair of Nigerian Dwarf goats
(20" tall, for both milk and pets), I would think that having another bovine
for company would make the cow more happy. Would another cow be better
company or a pet steer? Or doesn't it really make a difference if she would
be the only bovine? What is your take on my idea? I'd appreciate any
opinions. Thanks!

To rjwilkerson,
If you are a member of the miniature cattle egroups list, you will receive
all the emails that are sent to the list. The whole group receives the same
emails. An email sent to the group is automatically copied and sent to all
people who are subscribed to that particular group, in this case
miniaturecattle. All egroups work in this way. If you don't want to be
receiving emails that all the members send out, but still are interested in
mini cattle, consider changing the setting on your egroups account to
"digest." If you are a member by mistake, just unsubscribe. Hope this helps.

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING A NEW BREED. IT IS A CROSS BETWEEN A

THE MINIATURE BLACK ANGUS FROM AUSTRALIA. I HAVE BEEN AI ING MY SHORT HORN

FIVE. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS, THEY ARE ALL BLACK. THE COWS I AM USING ARE
EITHER A BEAUTIFUL RED ROAN OR RED AND WHITE SPOTTED. MY GOAL IS TO BREED
BOTH A RED ROAN AND A BLUE ROAN. I PLAN TO ONLY KEEP TWO YOUNG BULLS. I
AM GOING TO BE FORCED TO SELL THE OTHER THREE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THEY ARE
EXEPTIONALLY NICE CALVES. IF YOU LIKE BLACK, AND I DO, YOU WOULD LOVE
THESE LITTLE GUYS. ONE IS OUT OF MAGIC MAN & THE OTHER TWO ARE OUT OF A

IN CASE I EVER NEED TO GO BACK TO ANOTHER BULL. I THINK THAT I WILL HAVE
THE COLORS I AM LOOKING FOR WHEN I BREED THE 1/2 ANGUS & 1/2 SHORTHORN BACK
TO THE PURE SHORTHORN. THIS WILL PROBABLY MAKE THEM A LITTLE LARGER THAN
WHAT I WANT BUT THEN I'LL GO BACK TO THE 1/2 BREED TO PULL THEM BACK DOWN &
GET THE COLORS I'M AFTER. THEY WILL ALMOST ALL BE POLLED. THE NEW BREED I
AM WORKING ON WILL BE CALLED SHORT SHORTS. I PLAN TO BE SETTING UP THE
REGISTRATION FOR THEM WITH THE MINIATURE CATTLE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION SOON.
BY THE WAY, I LIVE IN SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA.

I've been thinking of a Jersey for a milk cow (a mini). I do not know what a
Lessor or Belmont are.
I am interested in getting cows and AI, or cows (Jersey, Angus, ???). But we
just moved to a bigger place, and have so many pressing things going on --
fencing, fencing, feed for winter,...... and still trying to get organized.
Had to put the minis on hold, but would appreciate any information.

I also have for sale a 3 month old 1/2 red angus 1/2 Mini Jersey bull
calf. There is a man in Ca who is starting a new breed of cattle with the
angus/jersey cross.I believe they will be called "Anjers". This little bull
is very nice and will be short and very muscular! He would be good for people
interested in a more Beefy type calf. He is priced at $1200.00.Tim O'Donnell

Hi,
The calves will depend on the spring price at sales, we don't have any
right now. The bull calves start $750 for grey and more for spotted, and the
heifers start at $1100 and more for spotted, they are all reg with papers and
of the best quality around. We took alot of time and money getting as nice
of a herd as we have and they are some of the best they are all under 38".
Thanks Lorin
Lessor jersey cattle are the same as mini.Check out my we site for inf on

Hi,
We only raise Mini Zebu and they are all reg, and we don't have any for
sale right now. In the spring the calves will go for what ever the market is
then, last spring the bull calves started at $750 and up and the hiefers
start at $1200 and up if they are spotted they run more. One of our bulls
is spotted and he is by far one of the best in the nation in everway.
Here is a couple pictures of them from last year they are all under 36" some
of the best around, we have tooken alot of time and money to get a herd like
this. Thank you for your interest, Lorin[Unable to display image][Un
able to display image]
Hi,
The only reg, cattle I have is Zebu some spotted and the way they are in
size is by their height like inches. Ours are all under 36" and we have one
spotted bull there are none left for sale until spring don't know what the
price will be for sure then depends on the market. They sold this spring
for Bull calves greys run $750 and up and the spotted Bulls $1200 and up.
The heifers greys $1100 and up and the spotted $1500 and up. The price
really verys because of color and the size of their parents. Bradley is our
spotted bull and he is one of the best bulls around for size, color,
comfirmation etc, he is one of the best in the nation. I will try to send
some pictures if you are interested let me know. Thanks Lorin[Unable

Hi Timothy,
Mini Jerseys are one of my favorite breeds of mini cattle. Are the Lessor
Jerseys similar? I'd also like to hear about the Belmonts, as I don't
believe I've heard of them.
Currently I don't have any mini cattle. We're working on getting our own
farm, but in the meantime I want to educate myself regarding what breeds are
out there. Thanks!
I also want to thank Dustin Pillard for inviting me to this group.
