Out of Business

It was a chance to serve the Nation.
We came together to fight the plantation.
We posted all we could find and write.
We Opposed the will of the mighty right.

At one time we though we could.
At one time we thought we should.
We ran the course, the gauntlet, and track.
We carried the grief on our willing back.

The the time came to elect a new man.
For better or worse we took the stand.
He was elected by the majority of host.
In that victory we could boast.

Yet, in the end it was all for naught.

The cost to high, the sacrifice bought.
Friendships grew icy cold.
Frustrations played out with words so bold.
In the end we did as were were told.

The tent is folded, the curtain drawn, the lights are off in the hall.
I guess we should have told you all, "It is time to go. We've done the job."
