Membership in the "NS_CSX_Appalachia" group is open to anyone who wishes to discuss or learn more about Norfolk Southern and CSX railfanning and railroad history in the coalfields of eastern Kentucky, northern Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Discussion topics can include geographical locations such as the Bluefield, Corbin, Danville, Dickinson (Charleston), Elmore (Mullens), Grafton, Hazard, Hinton, Norton, Peach Creek (Logan), Shelby and Williamson terminals, along with the remainder of CSX's Huntington Division and Norfolk Southern's Central and Pocahontas Divisions. Discussion on various coal company operations (including the physical structures required to get the coal to the rails) is also welcome. We do ask however that you please refrain from the discussion of model railroading aspects, as there's at least two other Yahoo groups already dedicated to model railroading in this specific geographical area.
Stay informed of train/locomotive sightings, special events, railfan hot spots, photo opportunities, etc. And please feel free to share your latest railroad sightings and train related information pertaining to this geographical area.
Membership in the NS_CSX_Appalachia group has been set to moderator approved due to the several spam postings that have recently plagued other Yahoo group lists. When requesting a group membership, please take the time to introduce yourself (by name), tell us why you want to join, and what your interests are. Please allow a couple of days for your membership request to be approved.
