The Newark Landlord Association helps rental property owners with the special issues of college town landlording. In 2005, the NLA took a new position of cooperation and interaction with the community and city government, and elected fresh leadership.
In 2009 it has become clear that the NLA cannot negotiate a reduction in rental permit fees, the highest known fees anywhere. The city continues to be near-broke, and continues to rely on fee income, whether legal or not. The NLA position is that the fees far exceed the regulatory burden, and are a de facto tax.
Membership in this Group is limited to Newark, Delaware landlords in particular, and Delaware landlords in general. Membership by others is considered on a case-by-case basis. Postings and questions on any landlord-related issue are welcome. NLA meetings are on the second Thursday of each month, at 7 P.M. at our NEW LOCATION: Matilda's Australian Restaraunt at 801 South College Avenue. Come early (6 P.M.) for great food and interesting chat in good company. Discussions may include landlord tenant laws, management and repair resources, current events related to rental housing, fair housing laws, and other related subjects. Hope to see you there
