ONIX for Publications Licenses (ONIX-PL) is part of a family of XML formats for the communication of licensing terms under the generic name ONIX for Licensing Terms. ONIX-PL is specialized to handle the licenses under which libraries and other institutions use digital resources, particularly but by no means exclusively electronic journals. To support the creation, editing and maintenance of ONIX-PL expressions, EDItEUR has developed an Open Source software package, OPLE.

The ONIX_PL and OPLE email list is open to all current and prospective users of the ONIX-PL standards and of OPLE software, details of which are at http://www.editeur.org/21/ONIX-PL/ and http://www.editeur.org/22/OPLE-Software/

We will use the list to announce changes and extensions to the ONIX-PL format and Dictionary and to the OPLE software, as well as other developments affecting ONIX-PL application.

The list will act as a forum for asking questions about the interpretation of ONIX-PL standards or the use of OPLE as a software package for creating, editing and managing license expressions using ONIX-PL, raising any practical problems which need to be addressed in future releases, and participating in discussion aimed at finding the best solutions.
