The Police Department has decided not to fully encrypt the new digital
public safety radio network after taking a few weeks to contemplate the
possibility, according to the police chief.
"The Greenwich Police Department discussed the matter internally," said
Chief David Ridberg. "I made a recommendation to the first selectman in his
role as police commissioner that we continue our current practice of
broadcasting in the clear and only encrypting for sensitive operational
issues."
