Description

The intent of this group, Records and Information Management, is to provide an area for people in the RIM Profession at differing levels of experience to particpate in a resource sharing setting.

Over time, a series of topics will be discussed (based on topics frequently raised on the RECMGMT Listserv and/or other Forums/Listservs) and through these discussions, documents will be developed representing "consensus opinions" of best practices in the field to be used as a reference for RIM Practitioners.

Links will be provided to known RIM resources on the Internet along with a repository of files for use and reference, with the understanding that ANY MATERIALS USED will always grant "credit where credit is due" to the original contributors and/or authors for their work.

A CAVEAT HERE... the fact that an article or link appears here is NOT an endorsement of the opinion or findings, as each individual must evaluate the value of the information and determine if it's pertinent to thier specific situation.

This is intended to be an open, sharing environment where all levels of experience and knowledge are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Hopefully, at some future point, materials developed here can be published (either in print and/or electronic format) for distribution and wider use by others in the Profession.

Students in the fields of Library Sciences, Archives and Information Technology are also encouraged to participate in this Yahoo Group.

If there is an indication that there would be a benefit to split this group into additional sub-groups as participation increases, that will be considered as well.
