Thanks John. I'll have to investigate the whereabouts of some Con Cor cars now.
That red and silver looks really sharp. If only Kato..........

Bob,
If you are not counting roof handrails, then the plans are identical.
Your consists looks remarkably similar to my 1954 era Golden State.
I have no red top cars in mine.
I used John Grey brass car sides to build RI baggage 852.
I have a ConCor SP diner which I use for the coach passengers.
I used Brass Car Sides to build RI & SP 4-4-2's before the InterMtn cars came
out.
The Walthers SP 10-6 fits very well between them.
Take pictures when you get your consist done.

John and all,
Thank you for your responses. your help is appreciated. I noticed the two

It's pretty close. Intermountain is one shade lighter.
I had previously painted the Atlas/RR corrugated baggage-dorm, coach and
observation cars with Testor's Red and they perfectly matched the ConCor cars.
I read that the GS Red was abandoned because it was fading to what someone
called salmon.

I recently added my 2 cents about "needed" gondola ends at the STMFC group. We need someone like Stan Rydarowicz or another resin casting company to produce these along with flipped dreadnaught ends and Pullman Standard gon ends.

The Rio Grande did not have war emergency composite 52ft gons, but they did have 46ft composite drop-bottom GS gons built by PSC with their proprietary pressed steel ends ends. The old MDC 40ft gon has similar ends.

I never worked for the RI, but my last Thanksgiving meal on the RR (two years

Can anyone point to some 1930s-era photographs of the 40700-46199
series Fowler clones built for the CRI&P/RI from 1913 to 1915?
I'm looking for cars later in life than those shown on the
Westerfield 6400 model pages.

d_rdw_m_stl_69715.htm>
Given the existence of at least some of these cars into the 1940s...
is there any evidence of rebuilding with steel doors and/or AB brakes?
Yahoo!Groups message Search is broken... so I'm not sure if this has
been discussed previously. I've spent some time chasing links from
the RITS web site... as well as some library sites, but without any luck.
I would appreciate any ideas on where to look...

That makes sense, Jim. After re-reading the article in August 2001 RMC, I realized the disagreement between the text on p. 76 and the list on p. 72. Next rabbit trail--go find that old (from 1960 or so) plastic gondola in my junk box. Thanks,

What era are you referring to by "original?" There are a few from the '70s in
this album:

Taken by the late Rich Wilson of Muscatine. Photos from earlier eras are
