Description
2700 member private venture funding advisory network based in Silicon Valley.
Our founder and moderator is Hugh J. Sloan III, pictured here with Kevin Spacey. Mr. Sloan, a technology visionary and angel investor is the former SVP Finance/CFO of 2 prominent Silicon Valley startups during the dotcom era - one making it to NYSE status as a public company
Graduate Engineering/Math background, he is the only person to successfully challenge the Hanson lab group at Stanford University on the proof of L'Hopital's rule. He forfeited the prize on account of his bad behaivor during the Hanson ski weekend.
Hugh directly raised $96.5 Million as a C-level from 1997-2001. Prior to this, Hugh worked at 237 Park Avenue in New York City for Don Carter, the reigning proxy and tendor offer king of Wall Street during the 1980s. Don was portrayed fictionally as Gordon Gekko in Oliver Stone's 1987 movie Wall Street. Oliver Stone used 237 Park Avenue for many of the scenes from the film.
Hugh's current portfolio includes Radar Networks, Bitarmor Systems, World Golf Tour and a New York City company called Mediamorph, run by an MIT genius named Mike Sid.
The teams that he supports as one of Sand Hill Road's funding advisors, have raised $52 million in Tier 1 venture funding since April 2006 and two have closed 8 digit Series B rounds in the last 4 months.
To relax, Hugh enjoys climbing granite on the High Sierra above 10,000 feet, watching Cardinal football and solving asymptotic expansions of integrals or fractal geometry equations in Banach spaces. His wife, a beautiful Stanford blonde who majored in Mechanical Engineering, works as an engineer for one of John Doerr's portfolio companies and is an accomplished pianist, skydiver and pending USPTO filing machine.
