WOODTURNING COURSES
Last summer I was overwhelmed by the response to my
woodturning courses. Thanks to my website I had clients
from as far away as Texas come and learn the basics of
the craft. Many brought family or friends and the
turning course became a part of their vacation. In
recent years woodturning has become a very popular
hobby. It is a wonderful way to express your creative
potential, and once mastered it is quite possible to
turn a work of art in a matter of hours. So why not
book a course today? I have recently updated the
website to provide information about travel and
accommodation
(http://www.sunrisewoodcrafts.ns.ca/woodturning-school.html)
and added a schedule and prices
(http://www.sunrisewoodcrafts.ns.ca/woodturning-class.html).
TAKE A VACATION
Have you planned your summer vacation yet? If not, why
not come and visit Nova Scotia this year? Be sure to
visit the Sunrise Trail (http://www.sunrisetrail.ca)
and stop by my studio.
WHAT'S HAPPENING AT SUNRISE WOODCRAFTS
During the winter months I get a bit of a break from
the production turning and teaching which takes so much
of my time during the rest of the year. I can relax a
little, work on my websites and take a more creative
approach to my turning - when I'm not shoveling snow
that is! I have been thinking about making some wall
sculptures and have a few sketches and ideas ready to
take to the workshop. Also on the drawing board are
some ideas for turned brooches and a new design of
letter opener. I expect to have something more concrete
to show you in the next edition of this newsletter.
Last year I started making some small bowls which I
call Bits'n'Bobs bowls, the ideal place to keep keys,
coins, jewelry and the like. I am now working on Snack
bowls - just the thing for individual servings of
peanuts or pretzels while you watch TV. These should
both be available on the website in the next month or
so.
I hope that you have enjoyed this short newsletter. If
you have any comments or questions, please e-mail me -
mailto:derek@...
I look forward to hearing from you.
