This is a writing on how I created a one page red lipstick in dreamweaver with ambitions to offer it as a free one page template.

I’ve created a screenshot at thumbalizr.com to show it. Here’s what it looks like…

The first step to creating the page was to grap hold of a nice header, in which I modified in Adobe Illustrator.  While the modification was only a slight color change, I added the title in Adobe Photoshop CS3.  Here’s how to add text to images after converting the Illustrator image into Photoshop.

I can across a free lipstick graphic, modifiable by Adobe Ilustrator and was inspired to download it for a new page.  I combined it with a portion of the design element from the header to create the background image in Photoshop.

Finally, I created the template in Adobe Dreamweaver using the same techniques in the How to Create A Wine Affiliate Template Web Page tutorial before publishing the template on the web.  It was just a matter of using the “Add Properties” function to insert the images and to set the colors, as shown below…

The graphic you see here was made from the letter alphabet vectors at bittbox.com. The round letters fit the 3D Tunnel Effect very well if you’re using the circle option. Click here to see this 3D tunnel effect flash movie if you’re reading this from a reader or feed directory.

How to Create A Tween Graphic In Illustrator, Import to Flash

The first step to editing the free alphabet vectors is to open up the .ai file and ungroup them by Object > Ungroup.  Then ungroup them a second time.  On each ungroup be sure that everything is selected.

Select and align your chosen letters.  Feel free to use the transform tool via Window > Transform, to space each letter 20pts apart on the X axis with everything consistent on the Y axis.

At this point, you are ready to modify the button colors.  Another ungroup is necessary to modify the color of the letters.

After the edits…

Select all, then head to Object > Group.   This will group all of your elements.  Now copy them to import them into your flash file.  Click Tween 2 in the library of your flash file.  (Remember that this is only assuming that your are implementing the How to Add A 3D Tunnel Effect In Flash Tutorial that was discussed previously.)  Now that you’re at Tween 2, goto Edit > Paste in Center.  Use the settings shown below for the best results…

Your tween graphic is now imported to flash.  Be sure to delete the original wipeout44 graphic.

I was looking at the some of the best flash tutorials and decided to create a 3D Tunnel Effect in Flash.  This is certainly something that I could add to my GrowLongerNails.com dreamweaver template.  It would spruce it up a little more, especially since I’ve already created my first video using Adobe Premier video for purposes of showcasing it.

The “3D Tunnel Effect in Flash” is presented as a tutorial at wipeout44.com.  The author provides the source files too, so guess we can call it a free flash template.  Now for figuring out how to edit the fla  ???

Editing the Color

I ran into the issue of changing the color of the scene to a different blue shade.  I found a cool way to change colors via actionscript, but the solution is to create a new shape on top of the scene after selecting your desired color.

Editing the Site Name Tween

If you play the movie, you’ll notice the Wipeout44 site name branding.  It took sometime to figure out how to change that to my own adobe-masters.com site name, as shown below…

Its actuallly at tween labeled Tween 2.  I’ve decided to use Adobe Illustrator to create my graphic for the tween.  So guess what, you’ll have to make a tween and then import it into the flash file if you choose this route. Visit How to Create A Tween Graphic In Illustrator, Import to Flash for guidance.

Whatever you do to create a text or graphic, use the very same Tween 2, while deleting the graphic to replace it with your own graphic or simple text..

Removing Shape Text

Lastly, I was compelled to remove the text in the lower left corner that displayed the shape specification.  Just use the selection tool and press delete if  you agree.

How to Add 3D Tunnel Effect In Flash to Dreamweaver Template

After editing the free flash template, you’ll want to integrate the html code on your site using dreamweaver or any other html editing software.  The html code is found in the html file.  As a last effort, publish your new flash movie.

Today is the first time I’ve opened Adobe Premiere Pro with hopes of making my first video. It came with the Adobe Creative Suite 3.3 Master Collection. Adobe Premiere Pro appears to be similar to “Windows Movie Maker”, but with much more features.

I’ve created my first video with the guidance from this Berkely Center page.  It wasn’t long before I was importing sound effects, cute girl vectors (mentioned in my wine affiliate template tutorial), and Walmart’s free music download of the week for the music into the video timeline.

I’ve ran into issues of compiling and exporting the video for the web.  I came up with How to Put An Adobe Premiere Video on Youtube, Google, Myspace, Yahoo Video Sites.

I’ve upgraded Adobe-Masters.com from Wordpress 2.6 to 2.6.1 last week and ran into the problem of page excerpts not working on the home page.

As a solution I’ve uploaded the the_excerpt Reloaded plugin and used the following code

inside my index file to display just the excerpts on the main page.

Later, I discovered that when you click on a category, it shows the post within that category in full. This type of presentation is not attractive to readers and excerpt descriptions are more desirable.

The problem arose again when browsing the archives or using the site’s search feature. Lorelle was right. I had to modify the following files to fix the problem: index.php, archives.php, and search.php.

Because I’m using The Excerpt Reloaded plugin, it was a change from

There are many free tracking services other that statcounter that are available to you.  Take your pick at the google directory.

How to Slightly Modify A Header Logo Banner with PhotoShop Layers

Since the template didn’t come with a modifiable psd file, the best way to do so is to add a new layer and place a new circle, custom shape, or a new button on top of the redish to cover it.  My decision is to go with one of the free web 2.0 buttons from the “How to Use Free Illustrator Buttons In Photoshop and On Website” tutorial.

So here’s the new button with new text…

I wanted to change the “what’s new” to something different.  Thankfully, I had the 200 buttons in the Button for Clicks Software.  The package has all types of buttons.  There was a yellow image similar so I went ahead and used it on a new layer as you can see below.

But, I’d like to change the black outline to white.  Just had to add a stroke in the layer’s blending options.

Changing the scissor image would require at least three new layers covering the backgrounds, so I’ll leave it for now.

Everytime I log into one of my wordpress blogs I see the wordpress logo, and you can see it here. I never had the desire to change it until I saw how another blogger used their own logo image instead.

But then again, we could also make a badass wordpress logo with using Adobe Photoshop.

How to Edit Image On Wordpress Login, Registration Page

The wordpress logo is so much embedded into the wordpress software that it was much easier for me to use the Register Plus Plugin by Skulbit.  It was just a simple plugin upload, activation, and configuring the settings.  So now the Adobe-Masters.com Registration page is customized!

Very nice flash templates. I downloaded the curvewall3D and edited the xml file for my images. It works fine. However, how do control the number of images in each row? I have 19 images and made sure there was a blank line after every 5 images, but they all still displayed on one line.

Also, your flash places the images randomly. Can that be adjusted to show images in a sequence like a story?

I have the 90 free web 2.0 buttons from Blog Spoon Graphics.  Its a very nice collection of buttons that can be used for almost anything.  They come in an all-in-one Adobe Illustrator file.  Here you’ll discover how to select the button you need, and how to put it in photoshop for editing before adding it to your page.

How to Use Free Illustrator Buttons In Photoshop and On Website

You’ll need Adobe Illustrator to access the web_2_buttons.ai file.  After opening the file you’ll notice that they are all grouped together as one.  Goto Select > All.  That will select each of the 90 buttons.  Now goto Object > Ungroup.  Now you will see that the buttons are now grouped by colors.  Select the color group you like best, then goto Object  > Ungroup once again.

Button Editing

At this point you should have access individual access to the buttons.  More than likely you’ll need to resize the button to fit your needs.  You can use Illustrator to resize the image, or copy and paste the button into Photoshop for resizing. The same applies if you need to add text to the button.

Convert Button Image

If you’d like to publish or share the button, you’ll need to convert its illustrator .ai file type to a .jpg or perhaps a .gif.  Simple copy the button and paste it into Adobe Photoshop.  Here’s more information on converting images.

Put the Button On Your Site

After the conversion, you should be able to upload the image into Adobe Dreamweaver or any other web publishing software.  Alternatively, upload the button onto a free image hosting account, or onto one of your social networking or dating profiles.

I’ve never heard of Jitney before so here’s what I found in my research…

Jitney is a Canadian company that was founded in 2001 space by a group of market makers and traders who had worked for more than twenty years on the Montreal Stock Exchange floor.

Jitney operated under a different name last year and was cited for changing its name without approval.  It was a simple name change from Jitney Group Inc. to Jitney Trade Inc.

Jitneytrade is listed as a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, and with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada at PureTrading.  The company recently appointed Ajoy Puni as the Vice President of its online division.

This quick tutorial will show you how to set up a flash portfolio using the free Spiral Carousel XML template from flashmo.

I found some cool free flashmo flash templates at the Crazy Leaf Design Blog that can showcase your portfolio on this link.  I chose the Spiral Carousel XML template to work with for the purpose of creating a personal portfolio.  I’m blogging the steps it takes to set it up.  You’ll need Adobe Flash to follow along.  Click the button below to see the outcome of this tutorial.

How to Set Up A Flash Portfolio

I wanted to customize this flash movie portfolio to display just a few of the sites I’ve created and manage.  (One day I’ll come back and reveal some of my other sites.)  After browsing the flashmo files, I came to the conclusion that the thumbnail_list.xml file should be edited in order to show images of my sites.

Website Thumbnail Capturing

The original template displays a movie flash of more than twenty (20) different sites in thumbnails.  In order to change the thumbnails to display some of my sites, I used the blogginpro link to websnapr. Websnapr is a thumbnail tool that is very easy to use.  I simply entered my site urls to create a 400 X 300 image. Just be sure you’ve typed .jpg after the file name when saving the image (example: latinaontravel.jpg) or it won’t save properly.

Resizing Thumbnails

I’ve already anticipated this moment days ago when discovered How to Auto-Resize Numerous Images - Batches In Photoshop.  Setting up an auto resize action made the task of altering the 400X300 to a size of 140×105 very easy!  Alternatively, you may resize your new thumbnails one by one.

Configuring Thumbnails

Okay, at this point we can head back over to the thumbnail_list.xml file to add the newly created thumbnails to the template.  This file can be edited with any editing software.  But of course, I’m editing with Adobe Dreamweaver.

For each site thumb, we’ll change the image filename, url, title, and description like so…

That was just a sample of the code used to upload this thumb.  This template will hold unlimited thumbnails so repeat this code as much as you like to display your sites.

Flash File Edits and Template File Uploads

Open the .flv file with Adobe Flash if you wish to edit the text on the flash presentation.  It was necessary to goto File > Publish before being able to see my changes.  However, the publish automatically changes the HTML file causing the page to not be centered, so you may want to save the original HTML file and revert back after the publish.

Any idea on how to change the color in the flash?

Finally, after creating the site images and editing the thumbnail file, I had to upload the files to my server.  Check out the product here.
