Hi all

No updates today as my mum is off work! There will be an update
tomorrow if my mum goes to work. I hope it will be my Zodion SS4D kit.
I was also hoping to take pictures of an old Thorn Gamma mercury
lantern. I will not tell you what it is. You have to wait.

Excellent. It's always good knowing where things originate from.

They must've made the long fin model at some point; this may be the
earliest version.

There also appears to be some lanterns missing. For example, the
sodium version of the Silverblue isn't listed. The Festival should
be there as well.

All the best,
Simon

Hi all

I have updated my website but there is a problem. I have added a
picture of a Thorn Gamma 8 lantern but it isn't showing on the webpage
but if I go to the editor then I can see it. There isn't even any text
about the Gamma 8 I have wrote. Please help me. I have also added
pictures of my Zodion SS4D kit.

Please forgive my passing curiosity, but how does your mum going or
not going to work determine whether you do updates or not?

Just vague curiosity you understand....

Perhaps you could get your own? Digital cameras are getting so much
better so quickly that there's loads of obsolete ones out there, I
gave my old one away some time ago but there's got to be zillions of
obsolete but perfectly functional digital cams collecting dust. I
recently read they now offer disposable digitals which are returned to
the store for processing and recycling, apparently someone wrote a
tool to extract the pictures from them yourself.

Hi DP

No Problems, as I have most of these lamterns except for the GRP Z9532 but I have a few older Aluminium lanterns the same and the Z5698 I have the shorter Cone model which I bought off E-bay Last Year I think I only paid £5 plus £15 Postage it did not have a lampholder but I fitted a 3 pin BC one for my 125w GEC Truelite MBF/U Lamps

Re the Gamma 8/AEI Ashby, it one lantern I have never seen as our local council used the Gamma 5 and later Gamma 6 today its the WRTL 2600 Post tops

All the Best

Hi Colin

Thanks for the identificatons, and yes, it will be soon when I get
my digital camera. Ours costed £100 and it is a Samsung. My parents
will be upset if anything happened to it. But nevermind, I am always
careful!

Hi all

One of my friends came to my door, saying that a streetlamp has just
got struck by lightning! I will take pictures as soon as possible!
When I do, I will put it in both the section Damaged\Vandalised
Streetlight and the Thorn Beta 5 damage by lightning page. I will see
the damage. He was walking up the road when it struck the post about
15 metres ahead. I know it was a Beta 5 because the whole street has
them.

More Edinburgh changeovers:

London Road - Alpha 3 to Arc 2
Portobello Road - MA60 to Arc 2
Milton Road - Eleco GR200s to Arc 2 (though two 8m columns sporting an
MA60 and GEC Z9654 still remain)
