Looks like the new Allegra is getting round and about. Seen on the Filisur
Webcam on Tuesday at 12:18 with a Ge4/4 I in tow/pushing/in multiple and on
Wednesday at 16:17 apparently hauling a single coach. On both occasions in the
Davos Platform presumably its been running on the branch.

Do you mean it campares well with the RhB unit, Oh please!

A colleague of mine commented that it looks like a Habitat Bread Bin. The Brits
in our ranks will know what he means.

I agree that it does not have to be ugly, but this unit illustrates how a cheap
and unstylish design turns out no matter what branding you put on it.
Functional is the best I can say about it.
No, it still gets a firm thumbs down from me. That said, if you are OK whith
it, no worries. We can beg to differ. Cheers, Don

Excellent piece of information on this freight traffic. Managed to get a pic of

The design of this unit is fine.
New rolling stock doesn't need to be ugly. This design proves (shows) that. Is
my opinion. I also appreciate the design of BOB's latest Bt8.

I have uploaded the official MGB information about the
Val Giuv viaduct. Although it is in German, you will
"understand" the schemas of the old and the new
structure. There are also some pictures I took recently.

12 km from Disentis, just at the entry of Dieni station.

It is to prevent water from entering the rest of the bridge structure.
This will be applied to all bridges that are undergoing refurbishment.
In 2009 the Val-Val viaduct was treated. It also got a footpath to
the side.

When the work on the Calmot galery will be finished, part of
the access road (which, on some parts, uses the old right of
way before Calmot I and II tunnels were opened in 1941 and
1971) will be reused as a walkway to give the possibility for
an easy walk down from Oberalppass to Tschamutt.

The idea is the same but it's done differently.

I thought so Markus, where is the Val Giuv viaduct, near Disentis? Also why are
they putting concrete decks on them, is it to improve the drainage or to spread
the load on the structure. I wonder if the Landwasser Viaduct is going to look
similar once the RhB's renovation work is finished this year?

Yes, MGB has, Val Giuv as an example for 2008.
But Val Bugnei was already done by FO in 2000.

Hello,

Has the MGB since it's formation been carrying out renovation work on it's
masonry bridges and viaducts, as recent photos of many of them such as the Val
Bugnei, Grengiols viaduct and Schollenen (Goschenen) viaducts show them almost
spotlessly clean, and with wider (concrete?) rail decks?

Just curious!

On 2 November 2009 the push-pull consist 3001-3301 was
brought to Chernex where it was stripped for parts (including
the bogies of 3001). The rest will be scrapped unless a
museum railway would be interested to take over ABt 3301.

I have been unable to find any record anwhere of this information although the
rest of the renumberings in the series have been reported. Perhaps I am looking
in the wrong places.

Thanks in advance

Hello Markus,

Do the independent companies apply to join the Swiss Pass scheme or to alter the
extent of their participation?

Or are they  asked to join and to alter their concessions?

Are there more extended offers in the pipeline?

Rocher de Naye would be a marvellous addition.

carry a supplement fare.

Kräbel - Rigi Scheidegg is anindependent company.

Weggis - Rigi Kaltbad belongs to Rigibahnen and is thus included.

I wish they were for peak services as I still need 122 for haulage. However
it is a spare set and comes out as and when required. ;-(

Martin,
Many thanks for this information. Saw 122 parked at Luzern in June with a three
coach push-pull set, so I assume this was for a peak only service or just a
spare set. Can anyone confirm if the two railcars see much regular work or are
they used for back up only as per my assumption above?

I must say it will be good to see them on the Interlaken stretch, as I guess
neither unit has strayed down to Lake Brienz very often.
