I have 5 Careerbuilder job postings for sale for $150 per each posting.
This is more than half price off of their posting price. They are 40 day
postings and they need to be posted prior to June 29, 2009.
If you are interested, contact me at cindy@....
Please excuse that request. We
need to do some maintenance on the Yahoo Group list as it is limited only to
current members of TRA. Now that it’s out there you
can do the survey if you wish.
Sherrie will be sending a
reminder to those who are late with dues. We’ll probably update membership and
access around July 31st for member and yahoo listings. Thanks,Dave.
P.S. to Matt, We’d love to have
you back as a member!

[TennesseeRecruitersAssociation] A QUICK Survey & an OUTSTANDING Candidate
Sourcing Networking Event
Hope all is well this morning!!!
As many of you know I do volunteer work for a few career transition
groups here in Nashville and we are doing a couple of things that I
think are of interest to the recruiting community here in Nashville.
1) We are doing some research on where and how candidates are looking
for jobs and where and how recruiters are looking for candidates here
in the Nashville market (we will definitly share the results with all
of those interested).
2) We will be holding our 3rd Annual Career Networking Mixer on
Monday 9/22. It is NO cost to employers/recruiters and job seekers.
Here are the details:
"We participated in this Career Fair for the first time last year
and, by far, it was the most successful job/career fair we've
participated in! As a result, we hired two candidates for
professional level positions, received a bunch a resumes, and got our
name out to hundreds of individuals."
- 2007 Career Networking Mixer Participant (they are
participating again this year!)
The Monday night Career Transition Support Group

Networking Mixer on Monday, September 22nd. This is a NO-COST career
fair oriented event and we would like for your organization to
participate!

I'd like to request that someone, anyone, at each meeting, remind us to
set our phones on vibrate and also to remind us to walk outside if we
intend to answer a call during a meeting.
We might also have a discussion here if anyone wants to debate that it
helps either the people in the meeting or the person calling the person
in the meeting to have a protracted conversation about how you are in a
meeting and can't talk to the caller right now. Isn't that pretty much
the only reason for an outgoing announcement in voice mail?

Hi Members:
You can click this link or paste it into your browser. We are giving
open access to members as an experiment. If attendance drops because
people are waiting for audio or because they stay away when someone
less handsome than Scott (like me) presents then we'll have to restrict
access to those who attend.
You might get this twice because I am asking Dennis Gros to send to the
member list as an additional reminder that the Yahoo Group is here.
Thanks,Dave.
Jacqui Calder is bound to be one of our
top 2 or 3 speakers since we began this effort. She’ll be explaining what The Psychology
of Sales Call Reluctance is all about. Even the best of us have some
characteristics or habits that keep us from being our absolute best. Those who
achieve in any sales-related pursuit embrace this idea and can appreciate new
ways to learn about techniques to counteract less-than-ideal tendencies and how
to accentuate strengths.
We are sponsoring Jacqui’s short
visit so that she can impart enough of BSRP’s program to make the lunch worth
twice what we’re charging. Those of us already familiar with the program can
still remember the ‘Oh Wow! That’s me!’ reactions we had when we were first
exposed. Recruiters, Account Managers, Owners, Researchers…Everyone will see
the value in this.
And don’t worry about this being a
set-up or sales pitch. We’ll guarantee that this is a stand-alone value at the
same time we guarantee that there will be more information available for those
who want it.
The attached flyer will explain a
bit more. Please make your reservations as soon as you can.

I've received gifts from two candidates in twelve years. I don't know
how that compares to anyone else's experience.
I'd be curious, however: what is the most unusual - or obviously
expensive - gift a placed candidate has given you.
I once got two $100 gift cards for Petsmart, which REALLY came in
handy. (The other candidate sent a fruit basket.)

Does anyone have any text that you use to explain the value of a CPC to
an employer? Maybe on your website, or in other communications?
Now that I have the credential, I want to get as much mileage out of it
as I can.
Please contact me directly using the email address in the header of

Study Class and Exam

Have you been reluctant to take the CPC or CTS exam
because you thought the task too daunting? Anxiety loves company! All of us
will be in this together, at a one-day cram study session in Nashville on Feb 22. You can be certified by the end of the day.
Reserve your place today, and join us.
Tennessee Recruiters Association (TRA) is offering, for the first time,
a certification class and exam day right here in Nashville. National Association of Personnel
Services attorneys and representatives will be teaching the class and,
coincidentally, they wrote the exam.
For additional information and prices, call Otis, Dennis, or Cindy. Let’s
face it, you’ve got to know employment law. Here’s a golden
opportunity to learn from the industry’s leading lawyers. We’ll see
you there.
Dennis Gros made my personal dream come true....That of bringing our
association back to a level that can stand with any other state.
We've had some other good programs but John Boyens was a great
example of "how'd they do that?" Fifth Quarter has turned out to
be a perfect place for these meetings... The meeting price is worth
just the food alone.... One of the top salad bars in the area and
all the meals hot and on-time and in a place that is not just
another corporate cookie-cutter joint. I hope we have to move to a
bigger room there pretty soon.
I don't intend to slight anyone else in this venture who's been
working to bring this back for over a year but between at least a
rudimentary website and Dennis on Programs I can easily think "We're
Back!"
Now ....we need to begin planning a kick-*ss annual training event
that'll raise money for a real website....
By the way, just know that the board even pays for their own lunches
here.
Please bring a new member so we can buy YOU lunch! D.
Get ready for Pinnacle Society member Tim Knight on January 11th
speaking on the topic of Time/Desk Management that was very popular
at the ASA event in September.
Dennis and TRA members signed up for messages on Yahoo site, and while I am at it the TRA board:
Dennis, please add the address in the TO line to the meeting notice list so that it'll get on the Yahoo group.
Everyone else... you should be able to go to www.tennesseerecruitersassociation.com almost anytime to see the temporary website. Also, you probably saw notices of some file uploads for member use. I updated the calendar with this year's meeting dates as well.
Thanks,Dave.

For additional information about Tennessee Recruiters Association:
Tennessee Recruiters Association
Yahoo Group Purpose and Etiquette
It is an exciting time as we work to form a new association of the
best recruiters in Tennessee. Together, we will learn from each other,
make money together, and enrich the recruiting industry that has been
so good to each of us.
The Tennessee Recruiters Association Yahoo Group is an instrument of
getting to know each other in our association and sharing new
techniques to improve our individual practices. TRA members should use
this forum to introduce themselves to each other and share success and
challenging stories to further this cause.
Just as important as stating the Yahoo Group's purpose, is stating its
non-purpose. This particular venue is not designed to be a forum for
job postings or split order opportunities. Please make an effort to
get to know the TRA members and their specific recruiting niche then
seek them out individually for recruiting or split opportunities as is
appropriate. A key element to building this association is mutual
trust between its members and the best way to accomplish this
attainable goal is by getting to know each other and sharing our best
practices.
Posted on behalf of the TRA Leadership Board
The newly formed TRA leadership board has asked that the bylaws of
this board be revised to prohibit specific job postings or split
postings. I will post the new guidelines on the next message. In the
meantime, please get to know each other and the disciplines in which
you recruit, as those relationships are one of the reasons for the
association's existence.
Per this rule change, I have removed the earlier job posting and the
discussion thread that encouraged this bylaw change. Please continue
to post your best practices and introduce yourself to the group.
I look forward to more lively discussions on best practices, industry
trends, etc. Please don't hold back. Thanks for helping shape this board.
