TheLascone's MarketNews · THE NEWS THAT YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM

Don't risk too much of your account value on one single trade.
Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. If you risk too much of your
capital on one trade and lose, you will have taken yourself out of
the game and there is no way to profit if you are not playing.

WEEK IN REVIEW :

http://tinyurl.com/7pqmm (AOLusers)

This was a holiday-shortened trading week. Futures set the pace as
the markets opened for the week.Investors rejoiced Tuesday, as crude
oil and gas futures dipped, after the decision by industrialized
nations to release 60 million barrels of crude from strategic
stockpiles in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The Dow rose 141.87, or
1.36 percent, to 10,589.24, its best one-day gain since July 8.

The stock market didn't waver much in the face of an afternoon
speech from Chicago Fed President Moskow Wednesday. In fact, it
added to Tuesday's sizable gains, finishing the session on an upbeat
note that left the indices near their highs for the day. A key
source of support came from the decline in crude prices (-$1.68 )
that accelerated in the afternoon trade as speculative positions
continued to be unwound. The price has moved up above both the 50
and 200 day moving avg. on the Daily Dow and Transportation charts.
As long as we stay above that support, we will be in a bullish mode.

While the S&P has shown its resilience of late, rallying 1.3% in
just two days and still up nearly 2.0% since Hurricane Katrina
struck, on the belief the U.S. economy can weather the storm's
impact, doubt returned to close nine out of ten economic sectors to
the downside... Thursday at 10:30 ET, investors got their first look
at oil inventories since Hurricane Katrina struck. Crude oil
supplies fell for a second consecutive week, gasoline inventories
fell for a tenth straight time, and distillates also fell, but
smaller than expected declines of 6.5 mln barrels, 4.3 mln barrels
and 816K barrels, providing some relief that the damage may not have
been as extensive as initially thought.

A separate factor was eBay's (EBAY) plunge, down on news that the
internet retailer had offered as much as $5 bln for internet phone
company Skype Technologies. We mentioned last month, how , SKYPE
almost sold to Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. for $3 billion. By
acquiring Skype, eBay could set itself apart by exclusively offering
Skype's low-cost voice services to customers. Skype's trademark
computer-to-computer calling would let eBay's buyers talk directly
with sellers, and customers could also use the technology to take
part in auctions live, calling out bids vocally. Even as eBay joins
the list of rumored suitors, the outfit may be better off with an
IPO. And the founders seem to know it.

The week ended with strong gains across the board. The top performing
index on the week was the Dow which gained 2.3% from last Friday's
close to today's midday highs. Bringing up the rear with a still
solid gain was the Nasdaq Comp at 1.6% (S&P 500 +2%, Russell 2000
+2%, S&P 400 +1.7%). The Dow came within 22 points of the Aug/6
month high at 10719 and The S&P flirted with a four-year high, up
3.0% in the two-week period. The Nasdaq has had 5 distribution days,
the S&P 500 has had 4 distribution days , the S&P 600 has had 3
distribution days in the past four weeks.

September's Vital Statistics from Stock Traders Almanac :

September is the worst month of the year. We have been interviewed,
quoted, and cited extensively over the years, but this year the
media has seemed particularly interested and investors have seem
particularly concerned this time around. For that reason alone, it
might not be that bad, but historically it is an extremely dangerous
month for investors. The end of September is one of our favorite
times of the year to buy.

Company to Settle and Mine Mars

Wired magazine is reporting that a new startup company is planning
to colonize and mine Mars by 2025. From the article: 'The new
company, 4Frontiers, plans to mine Mars for building materials and
energy sources, and export the planet's mineral wealth to
forthcoming space stations on the moon and elsewhere.
http://www.4frontiers.com/ Carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen are all
scarce on the moon, but readily available on Mars. And while oxygen
is available in both locations, it is easier to extract on Mars.

Katrina was not a natural disaster. It was a man-made disaster.

The man-made disaster was not an inadequate or incompetent response
by federal relief agencies, and it was not directly caused by
Hurricane Katrina. This is where just about every newspaper and
television channel has gotten the story wrong.

The man-made disaster we witnessed in New Orleans did not happen
over four days last week. It happened over the past four decades.
Hurricane Katrina merely exposed it to public view. The man-made
disaster is the welfare state.

Trading Tips :

Record your trades in a trade log or journal. Even if you are a
seasoned vet, it is helpful to review the "mindset" of each trade
and then have a written journal that you can refer back too.

Are there enough resources to go around ?

The chart below tells the tale. As global copper
consumption has reduced copper stockpiles at the London
Metal's Exchange the copper price has soared.

------------------------------------------
Professional presence

1. Wear what you want to say. The style of your clothing sends a
strong message (i.e. trustworthy, friendly, creative, sophisticated)
about your character. If you know you are meeting with someone very
traditional or conservative, it is best not to wear a tie with a
bright print or wear layers of bold accessories.

2. Do not blow your "presence" on casual day. If you look like your
alter ego on casual day, you need to change your game. Shaving for
men, and makeup for women, is still required. Shorts, tank tops or
sleeveless tops, torn jeans, and revealing or tight clothing are
never good choices.

3. Practice A+ grooming every day. If someone is well-dressed, but
not well-groomed, his or her presence will be negative. The most
common grooming faux pas are: overdue for a haircut or color touch-
up, stray hairs growing out of ears and nose, chipped nail polish
and/or ragged cuticles, too much or too little makeup, cologne or
perfume.

4. Stand up straight. Good posture can give the smallest individuals
energy and physical power. When you slump you lose more than 50
percent of your physical presence.

5. Pay attention to the details. Your professional presence extends
beyond your clothing, grooming and body language. Carry a briefcase
or computer bag that looks as good as your suit. Write with a
respectable pen, versus the pen that your printer gave you three
years ago.

MUG SHOTS :

Former WorldCom CEO Bernard Ebbers was photographed in September
2003 by the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department. Ebbers and five
other ex-officials of the telecommunications giant were charged with
violating Oklahoma's securities laws in connection with the demise
of WorldCom, which collapsed last year and filed the largest
bankruptcy action in U.S. history.

Trading Tips :

Always have a plan. Each trade you make should clearly define an in
and an out. Train yourself to get out when you said you were going
to. This is called sticking to the game plan. Getting into a trade
is easy, getting out is the hard part, that is why you need to stick
to your game plan.

Subject: Ancient Phone Networks

After digging to a depth of 100 meters last year, Russian scientists
found traces of copper wire dating back 1000 years, and came to the
conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network one
thousand years ago.

So, not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed, American
scientists dug 200 meters and headlines in the US papers read:
"US scientists have found traces of 2000 year old optical fibers,
and have concluded that their ancestors already had advanced high-
tech digital telephone 1000 years earlier than the Russians."

One week later, the Israeli newspapers reported the following:
"After digging as deep as 5000 meters, Israeli scientists have found
absolutely nothing. They have concluded that 5000 years ago, their
ancestors were already using wireless technology.
