Streetcars do not need destinations to make them thrive ... in fact they ARE the destination of some 5 million railroad and transit buffs worldwide.

Streetcars create development.
According to the American Public Transportation Association, streetcars are returning about $1,200 dollars in new development for every dollar invested in the line.

Streetcars were once called "inflexible". However, in today's conditions they are perhaps the most flexible of all transit modes, and can operate mixed into traffic, on private right-of-way, at the side of the road, in a median strip, in a subway, or overhead.

Operation/maintenance costs for streetcars are lower than for a similar fleet of transit buses.
The FTA assigns a 12 year - 500,000 mile life to transit buses, while rail is given 50-100 years.
