KellRock returned to his quarters after seeing to the legal details involving Mr. Avish.  He was charged with several violations of Federation law including the murder of a Klingon warrior.  KellRock had initiated a formal request for Avish to be transferred to a Klingon court, he knew that such an eventuality was unlikely and that Avish would be offered a deal by the Federation authorities.

In either way he would serve a long time in jail and that was what KellRock wanted to see.  The Mauler had now left the station and KellRock wondered if he would ever see Moreth again, well such things were best left to fate, right now he was tired from a stressful day.

After showering and putting on something for the night he switched on some Klingon operatic music and relaxed over a cup of blood wine.  This entire matter was now largely closed, just as well because he had heard that the Khitomer was returning to the spaceport soon.  He was sure that he would hear some interesting tales from the crew once they set foot back on the station.

Suzan was happy to hear someone enter and peeked out from the storage closet.  She watched as Dr. Brex made his way to a seat.  She wiped a bit of dust from her clothes and walked out. "Hello again Dr. Brex."

"What can I do for you this fine evening" Suzan locked her fingers together and laid them on the table.

With a smile she turned toward the bar "I am sure I can handle that" she prepared his request and brought it back shortly.

"Is the emergency from before over or is there still things happening?" Suzan asked casually.  She was thinking of John not being available and wondered if he was all right.  "Since I am not a member of Star Fleet I dont get to hear much of what's happening."

Reply:

She nodded and smiled "I see, I am happy to see that you are feeling much better." She smoothed out her top and looked around the empty room "would you like some company?" she glanced at the empty seat and smiled "Its a bit inappropriate but I have no pressing business at the moment."

Reply:

"Thank you.." she smiled "I will get myself something and join you" She turned and went back to the bar.  Suzan returned shortly with a salad and water. "How is your dinner?" She asked as she slipped into the seat across from him.

((Sickbay, USS Khitomer))

Brex opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was a bright light shining over him. He began to think about all the sayings in the endings. Many times people reported seeing a light in the end. He made a mental note to speak to his staff about that. It was hard enough going through a medical trauma then to open your eyes to something that would be looking to call you into the beyond.

He took in a deep breath. Breathing, he though, it was good to breath, very good indeed. Stevok came over to the bed and stood over him, blocking the light out of Brex’s path. Brex looked up to his counterpart. “I have checked your vitals doctor. You have made a full recovery with the assistance of Counselor Lyre.” Stevok commented.

”Thank you, Stevok. Is the Counselor around so that I can thank her properly as well?” He asked.

”Unfortunately the counselor was called away on a mission by the first officer.” He replied.

”I see. OK,” He rose from the bed. “I would like to get back to work and for the ship.” He stated. He rose from the table and smiled at the Vulcan assistant. He moved slowly, giving himself a chance to not fall forward and dash his head. Just testing his own abilities a bit. His head did not swim when he rose. He took that as a good sign and then moved up further. Once he felt that he could take it all, he slid off of the table and stood before his assistant.

”I believe I could go for something to eat. Is there anything urgent I need to take care of?” Brex asked.

”No, the captain is waiting to hear from you.” Stevok replied.

”What about the people in engineering? How did that turn out?” He questioned again.

”All were taken care of. Unfortunately we lost three, including the chief engineer, whom you discovered.” He replied.

Brex was saddened at the discovery of more death. He knew of the chief engineer, but was unsure of the others. He pressed his comm. Badge. “Brex to Admiral Hebron.”

On the bridge, the call came. Hebron was glad to hear the doctor’s voice. “Doctor, it is good to hear from you. I take it that you have recovered?”

”Yessir,” He replied. “Under the care of Lyre and Stevok, I have recovered fully. I am, however, a little hungry. I was wondering if there was anything urgent you needed me for?”

”I don’t believe so. Take some time. Commander Sheriden is gone to the other vessel to collect our injured pilot. She may need medical assistance when we get her back.” Hebron replied.

”I understand, sir. I will be in 10 forward waiting for them to arrive.” He stated.

”Very well.” Hebron stated. “Get refreshed doctor; you never know when you will be needed again. Bridge out.”

Brex nodded to Stevok and made his way to 10 forward. Once he arrived he sat himself at a table close to the view port. He enjoyed looking out into space. The other ship hovered out there. He waiting for Susan to come to him and ask him what he wanted.

Hebron's comm badge went off. "This is Hebron. Go ahead."

"Admiral Hebron" she waited for his reply

"Yes Lt. Is there something you need?" He questioned. "Have you taken care of Timar's things?"

"Yes Sir I have taken care of his belongings and I am sure he will contact me the minute he gets back on the ship" she almost laughed then and winked at Joon who had noticed the men's briefs on the floor and was staring at them with a smile. "I would like to help Ensign Iko out in engineering if you would allow me to do so"

"I have always thought that two heads are better than one. Please feel free to assist." Hebron replied.

"Thank you Sir.  Lt Reed out" she tapped the comm badge and ended her conversation with the Admiral.

Hebron smiled wondering what she had in store for the new engineer.

((Teleportation padd of the Klandosss))

The away team reappeared  in the transporter room of the Klandosss. It was a small room. The temperature was very warm and the lighting was excessively bright. Sheriden looked around the room. Timal, Blackheart, Lyre and Tindall were there with him. It was a oval room and there was a slimy feel to the air, along with a faint trace of fog upon the decking.

Sheriden slowly got off of the transporter padd. There was a Klandosssian there to meet him. The Klandossian was about a foot taller than Sheriden and he was breathing in deeply, as if attempting to taste what Sheriden was like. He had a long white main and tanned skin. He had very sharp and pointed teeth and his eyes was black and inset.

”I am Commander Sheriden, first officer of the starship Khitomer, this is our Counselor, Lyre, Engineer Timal, our pilot Ensign Blackheart and a member of our security team, Ensign Tindall. I am here to greet you on behalf of Admiral Hebron.” He stated.

The individual spoke. “I am Kissdosss, I am the XO of the Gizzzdosss. That isss the name of the vessssel with which you are on. Would you like to dissscusss information transssfer, or sssee to your crew man?”

”I believe we would like to see Pilot K’Lea first. That is if you do not mind.”

”Commander Hishissss sssaid that you may want to do ssso firssst. Pleassse follow me.” He answered and led them into the corridor.
“Mind the passssage, however, the ssslaasss are all over the placccce.”

”I’m sorry” Sheriden answered. “What are they?” He asked.

”Sssimple commander, they are our young. They travel with usss asss well.” He answered.

They followed the man and every now and then Sheriden thought he saw the movement of snakelike things crawling all through the decking. He had to move his feet a couple of times to avoid stepping on several. The trip was uneventful besides the young. The hallways were quite large, double that as on the Khitomer, it was very hot and the deck was covered with the fog like substance as in the transporter room. The ground, or deck was also a little moist.

Finally the tour ended and there sitting on a bed, was K’Lea. She did not look at all hurt, but she was still in her flight suit, which was burned in several places. “Lyre, can you see about the pilot. Make sure she is ok for transporting.” Sheriden ordered.

Reply anyone.

(USS Khitomer- turbo lift)

Joon had just finished speaking with the Admiral and left the bridge and was standing out side of the turbo lift.  The doors slid open and she looked up.  Olivia was standing there looking like the cat that swallowed the canary.

"Joon,  how are you doing?"  Olivia smiled but hesitated to exit.

Joon raised a brow and smiled hesitantly "I am fine I suppose." she wondered what her friend was up to.  "I am going back to engineering."

"Oh. perhaps the Admiral would allow me to help you" Olivia smiled and tapped her comm badge.

"Admiral Hebron" she waited for his reply

Hebron : reply

"Yes Sir I have taken care of his belongings and I am sure he will contact me the minute he gets back on the ship" she almost laughed then and winked at Joon who had noticed the men's briefs on the floor and was staring at them with a smile. "I would like to help Ensign Iko out in engineering if you would allow me to do so"

Hebron : reply

"Thank you Sir.  Lt Reed out" she tapped the comm badge and ended her conversation with the Admiral.

"Joon don't you think I have taken care of the new Ensign's things rather nicely?" she asked Joon in a mocking tone.

"Is that what your calling it?" she felt the humor in Olivia and was glad that she was no longer angry.

Olivia shrugged and tucked her hair back behind her ears. "well we will see how he reacts when he finds the rest"  she smiled "engineering" she replied to the computer before it could ask and the lift was on its way.

"I don't want to be around when Timar finds out what you have done. What exactly did you do?"

Reed:

"Oh no" Joon felt sorry for Timar. She would not want her personal belongings made into a trail to her quarters but she did see the humor in it. "what did Ensign Timar do to deserve this?"

Reed:

"Olivia don't you think your overreacting a little?" Joon was serious and felt bad "I think you should undo it and just speak with him." Joon tried to be Olivia's voice of reason but she knew that was falling on deaf ears. "well you will have to apologize for this. The Ensign perhaps did not realize what he was doing."

Reed:

"I know, perhaps he will see this as humorous but you will have to explain to the Admiral or Commander Sheriden why you would do such a thing." Joon smiled as the lift stopped "after all its not right for you to have your hands in the ensign's briefs." she laughed  and stepped off the lift toward engineering without listening to Olivia's reply.

((USS Khitomer- Turbo Lift and Crew Quarters))

Lt Reed chuckled to herself as she took care of Ensign Timar's belongings.  She was sure to hear from him. Olivia dropped the now empty bag in front of his door.  As she walked the corridor back to the turbo lift she almost laughed, the trial of his belongings' would lead him right to his new quarters.  The turbo lift door opened and she dropped a pair of his briefs right in the turbo lift , he was sure to see them when he entered after the away mission.

Olivia tapped her comm badge "Ensign Timar"

Timar: reply

"I have taken care of your belongings as you requested and you will have no problem reaching your new quarters if you take turbo lift 3 when you return to the ship" Olivia was trying hard to sound serious.

Timar:  reply

"Lt Reed out"  Olivia smiled as she spoke.  She was sure that he would be angry but then again perhaps he would find humor in it.

"Destination" the lift computer asked sounding annoyed at the delay

"Bridge" Olivia leaned back against the wall.  She was exhausted and thought about getting some sleep but that would have to wait.  The lift started and got to the bridge level in no time.  The doors slid open and Ensign Iko was standing out side.

"Joon,  how are you doing?"  Olivia smiled but hesitated to exit.

Good idea, right now we are in transition and posting to both groups may not be a
bad idea until everyone gets accustomed to using the new group we have created.

           *** Spaceport Free Enterprise ***

Moreth stood with a knife to the throat of the mid-level criminal named Avish.  Thus far, under threat of his own life, Avish had told Moreth that the pirates raiding ships in the area were aliens from the uncharted regions of the Alpha Quadrant.  Their main focus seemed to be stealing cargo in order to sell, which was where Avish came in.

"All I did ... was sell merchandise for them," Avish told Moreth, sweat pouring from his forehead as Moreth held the knife menacingly at his jugular.

"And what if they kill someone in Starfleet? That would make you responsible for their murder!"

"N-no!  I never hurt anyone .. I just ..."  Avish was so scared he couldn't even talk straight.

"You just profit from it," snarled Moreth.  "Now tell me all you know about these pirates."

"I would also like to know that."  The voice startled both Moreth and Avish, it was KellRock and he was backed up by several armed members of SFE security.
"Moreth," KellRock said calmly, "take the knife away from his throat."

"He has been involved with the pirates attacking Federation ships," Moreth growled.

"I know that now," KellRock explained, "and I thank you for determining who it was on this station that was connected with the pirates.  Now ... remove the knife and stand down."  Moreth remained motionless, he did not take orders from a Klingon bureaucrat like KellRock.

Sensing Moreth's stubbornness, KellRock again spoke. "Moreth, either remove the knife from that man's throat, or I will order one of these guards to shoot you right now. My word as a Klingon that I am not bluffing."

Of course, thought Moreth, Klingons never bluff.  He eased the knife away and two guards stepped forward.  They placed Avish in molecular binders about his wrists and led him off to the nearest cell.  Once the situation calmed, Moreth turned to KellRock and allowed his frustration to vent.

"I could have gotten more information from him, had you not interfered."  If he had been allowed to handle things his way then he was sure that Avish would have given him some more information, that was until he had divulged all he knew and then Moreth would have killed him as the criminal deserved.

"Trust me," KellRock told Moreth, "they can get all the information from him.  "This is not a Klingon station and Avish is hardly a Klingon, hence the reason I could not easily allow you to kill him within sight of station personnel.

Moreth grunted, hardly a fitting reason to let M'Rek's murderer get away.  "He and those Nausicans killed my friend and a member of my crew."

"And he will spend much time in prison for that," KellRock assured him.  "As M'Rek was a Klingon, I believe that man may well find himself a guest on Rura Penthe soon.

Somehow that knowledge made Moreth feel a trifle better.  "So tell me, how did you know about this meeting?  We went to great lengths to keep it a secret."

"And you did well," KellRock admitted.  "We were keeping an eye on you and your friend until you disappeared from our decks with working sensors. We knew you did not beam back to your ship, I therefore made a guess that you were involved in something you did not wish anyone to know about.  Just to be safe I brought some armed guards with me, a good thing because you would have killed that man and then we would have to arrest you.  As to the pirates, we knew that some stolen property had turned up in the hands of people who could not have stolen it themselves, it was logical to assume that it was being moved somewhere by someone, we just were not sure where or by whom.
You answered those questions you served both Starfleet and the Empire quite well."

"Perhaps," Moreth grumbled, he was still wishing that he had been able to obtain more information, not to mention wishing that he had been able to avenge his dead friend.  None of that withstanding Moreth did have a grudging respect for KellRock, the Klingon showed that he was both brave and intelligent by guessing Moreth's movements and finding him.

"Now that we have finished this matter, we shall leave the station."  There were other things which required Moreth's attention besides the matter here on Spaceport Free Enterprise.

"If you wish," KellRock said, "but you may return whenever your ship requires resupply."

Moreth thanked him and left the station.  As soon as he was back aboard the Mauler, the ship went into high warp and left the area in search of new adventures.  Before leaving the area he sent a message to Clifton and explained that they had captured a mid-level dealer on SFE who was fencing stolen merchandise from the starships that had been attacked.

As usual, thought KellRock, I am left to clean up the mess.  The bodies of the Nausicans were removed and M'Rek's corpse was attended to.  At least they had Avish in custody and he would give them whatever he knew, especially when faced with a transfer to a Klingon prison.

*** USS Authority ***
** Main Bridge **

Clifton knew this could only mean one thing, pirates!
"Helm," he called, "set course for the L'Wren Cluster at maximum warp." He turned back to the voice of the Natira's captain and spoke.
"Hang on Captain Slater," he urged, "we'll be there as fast as we can."
"Rommie," he ordered T'Swann, "get me an e.t.a. on the L'Wren cluster."
Rommie looked at her console, and did a quick calculation, "At our present heading and speed, approximately two hours."
"Two hours?" Clifton repeated in frustration, he just hoped that the Natira could hold out that long against what was likely to an impending attack. Quickly heading back to his chair he opened a channel.
"Engineering. " he stated.
"McDuff here, Sir." answered Grant McDuff.
"Listen McDuff," ordered Clifton, " we have an emergency situation ans we have to get there ASAP! I need all the speed you can muster, Mister."
"Don't worry, Sir. We are at warp nine now and I'll get more speed out of here if I have to get out and push."
Clifton sighed. "Let's hope it won't come to that." With the ship now hurling at high velocity Clifton's mind turned to the proposed idea discussed earlier. If they were going to construct the device that had been talked about, time was now of the essence. He opened a channel and spoke. "Captain to Theel."
< tag Theel >
"Theel, we have a distress call from another Federation ship. We have maybe two hours at the most until we get there. If you guys can do anything, you will have to make it fast."
========================================
*** Main Bridge ***
> snip <

It had taken longer than he had planned, but he had finally gotten
beamed to the Authority, quietly of course. He hadn't wanted to
raise the alarm that he had returned. He couldnt very well suprise
his Marines, his lady, or the Captain if they expected him back. He
had checked the duty roster after getting his command codes
authorized and knew his lady was on duty on the bridge, so that was
his first stop. His personal belongings would be sent to his
quarters...

"To any Federation starship ... to any Federation starship ... This
is USS Natira, we are being pursued by an unknown vessel. We
request assistance immediately. "

Diane was most alarmed. "Captain!"
Katie was immediately scanning the area for unfriendlies, and trying to pinpoint the Natira itself.

Clifton was on his feet and heading toward the station where he
could answer the call for help. "Natira, give us your position!"

"Captain Slater here, our position is three-five-nine by zero-zero-
five-six. Near the L'Wren Cluster. They came out of nowhere, we
have eluded them for the moment but I am sure they are still out
there."

Clifton knew this could only mean one thing, pirates!

"Helm," he called, "set course for the L'Wren Cluster at maximum
warp." He turned back to the voice of the Natira's captain and
spoke.

"Hang on Captain Slater," he urged, "we'll be there as fast as we
can."
"Captain, I am showing an unknown wrap signature in the area of the Natira and what appears to be phaser fire."

Roken shook his head and smiled grimly, he seemed to have returned
at just the right time! He stepped completely onto the bridge and
looked around and then spoke loudly to the Captains back from his
place near the turbolift.

"I go off for a few weeks on Earth and you try to get into all the
fun without me Captain. What's up with that? Seeing as how we dont
have alot of time, lets skip the welcome backs and crap until
later." He looked at Katie and smiled before turning his attention
back to Clifton and the rest of the bridge crew.
Katie quickly turned at the sound of his voice. Only the knowledge that she was on duty kept her from running up to him.

"Someone get me up to speed!" He demanded as he crossed his arms
over his chest, managing to keep a straight face just long enough to
do so before his face broke into a grin. He was back home where he
belonged!

Clifton turned and caught sight of Colonel Stone, dang when did he get back? The Colonel had been given a brief duty assignment off-ship and as far as Clifton knew it would be months before he was scheduled back. Well, for some reason or another Colonel Stone stood there in the flesh and ready for action. Good, with the Authority speeding toward the Natira things could not possibly work out any better because it was likely tht an assault team would be needed to board the Natira, assuming thay any aliens from the attacking ship were to board her.
"Colonel, if you don't mind I will give you my report at 'later' time." she stressed the word 'later' and smiled at Roken. Oh yeah, she'd give him a 'report' all right... right on the kisser! Would serve him right if she walked up and gave him a long welcoming kiss right now on the bridge! Not even telling her he was on his way back! Her computer console was demanding her attention at that moment.
"Sure glad to see you, Colonel," Clifton said to Roken. "A bit surprised ... but glad. We have a Federation starship being pursued by an alien unknown, in all likelihood they will overtake the starship before we get there, so I want you and ar armed squad ready to beam out ASAP.
< tag Roken >
"Any problems?" Clifton asked, uncertain of the MarDet situation right now.

we're even close to being in transporter range Captain. Just leave
it up to the Marines, we'll handle it."

"Any problems?" Clifton asked, uncertain of the MarDet situation

"Nothing I wont be able to handle on my own. It wont take much to
change command back from my XO to myself. We'll be fine and more
than ready by the time you need us. If you'll excuse me, I have some
Marines to prep for some major action." Stone said with a grim smile
as he turned to leave via the nearest turbolift. There was a
boarding party to prepare for some boarder evictions....

*** USS Authority ***
** Main Bridge **
The Authority neared the coordinates given by Captain Slater, upon first glance there was nothing there. "Carter, scan the area."
"Aye, Sir," replied Ensign Carter. Her scans quickly detected the Natira in a nearby sector. "I have her, Sir. There is another ship in close proximity."
"On screen." The image upon the view-screen was that of an unidentified ship, roughly the size of a Starfleet freighter. At the moment they were firing phaser-type weapons at Natira, which was attempting to escape.
"Rommie, get us under cloak, now!" ordered Clifton.
< tag Rommie >
As the Authority shimmered into invisibility, Clifton looked toward T'Swann and issued another order. "Set up a comm channel, sub frequency and scrambled. I don't want to take any chances that the aliens will know that we are out here or contacting Natira."
< tag Rommie >
"Natira, this is Authority. What's your situation?" If the ship had been boarded then it was time to send in Stone and the marines, but if they had just a few minutes then maybe Llew's idea could be pulled off.
"This is Natira," replied the captain's voice, "we're under attack and have intruders on board."
"Situation report," demanded Clifton as he ran the options through his mind.
"Thus far they have beamed over just a few beings .. a race we're unfamiliar with. We have our upper decks sealed off, they can't get to our bridge nor Engineering because I have that sealed off as well."
"Good," replied Clifton. "Just hang tight, Captain. We will be moving in under cloak, with any luck they won't spot us until we're on top of them. I'll beam over a squad of marines as soon as I can, that should give your own people a better chance against whoever these people are."
"Much appreciated, Captain. By the way, they aren't people ... they're not warm blooded. Our scans showed at least that much before they knocked internal sensors out."
"Acknowledged Natira, we'll be there as soon as we can." Switching off the channel, Clifton opened another to the Chief.
"Chief, this is the bridge."
< tag Chief >
"I know you haven't had much time, but we're approaching the Natira now. If you guys even think we have a reasonable chance of tagging their ship then now is the time."

"Understood, bridge out."

"Captain, I have the aliens on scans. We can locate them but I cannot get a lock on them... yet. It may be with some adjustments I can." Katie said. She hoped she did the right thing.
"Good, replied Clifton, "but keep your scans passive, we don't want to alert that ship that anyone is out here."
< tag Katie >
Opening a channel to Transporter Room Two, Clifton addressed Chief Tighman, the ship's Chief Transporter Officer. If anyone knew their stuff when it came to a transporter, it was Roberta Tilghman. "Chief," he asked, "we're passively scanning the Natira now, any chance of locking on to any of the intruders and beaming them off?"
"I'd have to say no, Sir," she responded. "I can't get a lock on anyone or anything, they have a pattern scrambler, or something, active over the entire ship that prevents me from getting a lock."
"What about the marines?" Clifton's mind sudden faced the possibility that he wouldn't be able to beam anyone over. They surely could not use a shuttle craft to board the Natira, they would be sitting ducks before they could land.
The Chief's voice came back instantly. "Oh, them I can beam over, Sir. We'll use pattern enhancers but I am sure I can set them down safely on many of the decks of that ship, I just can't lock on to them and bring them back unless whatever is scrambling the signal is taken out."
"Good." Clifton now considered the possibility of beaming the marines directly to the enemy ship, maybe they could even commandeer the pirates own vessel.
"What about beaming the marines directly to the alien ship?"
"No can do, Sir," Roberta Tilghman replied. "The alien ship has a shield up that prevents any transport whatsoever, however that shield down not extend around the Federation star ship."
"Understood, bridge out." Well that settled it, within a short time he could send some marines over to help, as soon as that happened it was a foregone conclusion that the aliens would know they were there so he may as well cut the cloak and re-route all the power to the shields and weapons. He stopped and glanced toward Katie O'Shannon, for a brief second he allowed himself to consider just what a fine looking woman Katie really was. Not that she really out shined Rommie because she didn't, but that didn't mean that she still wasn't a fine looking woman with a knock-out figure. Of course he was a married man now, for the second time and anything except looking was out of the question, however if he had met up with Katie back in the old days when he was single .... well, right now wasn't the time to be undressing a feminine officer with his eyes because they were in the middle of something a lot more important.
"O'Shannon," he stated. "Run the visual of that ship through our data files, see if it matches anything we have on record. Since they are cold-blooded they are obviously reptilian, the Gorn might have a new ship but it makes no sense because we're a long way from Gorn territory and they aren't the only lizards in the galaxy."
< tag Katie >
"Nothing, huh?" That news was somewhat surprising because most every race in the Alpha Quadrant was recorded in their on board data files. That led to one of two conclusions, either some known race in this area had developed a prototype ship and gone into piracy, or else these cold-blooded aliens were from some uncharted region of space. It was hardly an impossible thought because for all Clifton knew these pirates could be from somewhere in the VisiGoth Empire, there was still almost nothing known about them, not even how much space they controlled.

((Khitomer Bridge))

The away team was off of the ship and Hebron continued to watch the progress upon the controls on his chair. Olivia came in from just being introduced to the new Chief Engineer. She did not appear to be in a friendly manner.

"Excuse me Admiral"  Olivia did not know what he would think but she would ask his opinion. "May I have a word with you about a concern I have?"

Hebron nodded to her, he valued the opinion of all those he was serving with. “By all means Lt, go ahead and share.” He offered her the First Officer’s chair.

"I was not able to completely fill the new Ensign about what was happening on board"   She looked him in the eye as she was trying not to be intimidated by his size or rank.  "As I was about to do as you instructed he was called away on the away mission" she bit her lip then and tried to find the way to word what she was saying without sounding as if she was over reacting "he then tossed his belonging at me and said to take of them."   Olivia sort of smiled to cover her anger "I felt  disrespected by this action. I would like to talk to him  but would like to know what you think?"  She wondered if he would think her overreacting or if he would blame it on new arrival jitters taking the place of better judgment.

“So I take it that this was not something done in jest?” He asked her. He was considering all that she had said, along with the odd request from Sheriden to have the new engineer upon his way team.

"To be honest I did not find it amusing at all" she bit her lip and nodded "Yes I do have a sense of humor that could also get me in trouble at times" she paused and thought about it for a few seconds " but I do know when to turn it off and show respect for those of higher rank then myself."

“Very well.” He said, thinking it over for a minute. “I believe that you are a Lt and he is an ensign, if you feel that something was out of place, then you need to address that. I am sure that this was possibly a misunderstanding, but getting things out and done with are the best way to work.” Hebron replied.

"Thank you for your input Sir" Olivia said "I will set up a meeting with Ensign Timar as soon as the away mission is complete and we can hash it out and get things out in the open and settled."  She raised a brow and smiled at him "I will take care of his belongings but he might not like how..."

“I hope that it was just a misunderstanding.” Hebron turned back to the console.

Joon continued to analyze the data she was receiving. There were reports about engineering and reports about's the aliens they are meeting. She was about to address the Admiral when Olivia returned to the bridge. Joon felt her mood and just smiled, she knew from the blackness that Olivia was not feeling like her normal self and wondered what had happened. She waited patiently while Olivia and Admiral had a conversation, during this time she felt Olivia's mood lighten and take on a less hostile feeling. After a few moments the Admiral was free and she addressed him.

"Admiral, I would like to go back down to engineering and do more investigation into the explosions if this is permitted?" She picked up her padd and smiled "I would like to find closure for the crew and the family of those who did not survive"

”I share your need as well. You believe you can find what you are looking for now?” He asked.

"Yes Sir," she nodded "I am confident that the answers are there I just have to find them"

”Very well. Permission granted. I want updates as soon as you have them, and if you need assistance, do not forget to ask.” He stated.

"I will let you know of my progress" she nodded at the Admiral and left the bridge.

Suzan sat in her quarters and listened to a classical music selection. She found it relaxing and it kept her mind from wandering into territory she was not ready to explore.  She thought about John and wondered what he was doing.  Suzan found herself thinking of him often and that was what she was afraid of.  She did not want to get close to him but yet she was drawn to him both physically and emotionally. "I give up" she finally muttered and stood up. "Computer please locate Commander Sheriden"

"Commander Sheriden is currently unavailable" the computer replied after a moment.

She sighed softly "Computer compose verbal message for Commander Sheriden" she hesitated  and then began "John, I was wondering if you would be available this evening for dinner. Please let me know what time if you are and we can get together. Suzan"  she stopped for a second and almost did not send the message.  "Computer end message and send to Commander Sheriden.  Now she would wait.

Suzan stripped of her clothes and stepped into the hot shower.  She let the water run down her neck and back and twisted her head from side to side getting her hair wet and rubbed the delicately scented shampoo into a rich lather.  She ran her fingers through rinsing out the lather and added conditioner.  She picked her favorite bath gel and lathered her body and let the water run over her for several minutes before stepping out.  She quickly toweled off and walked naked to the closet. She picked through and found a peacock blue tank top and black pants. The silk slipped easily over her skin, the top dipped down low in the front and showed her cleavage, while the pants made her already slim form appear more waif like and fragile.  She looked in the mirror as she pulled a printed scarf through the belt loops on the pants and tied it letting the loose edges fall down her leg.   Her hair and make up were easy.  She pulled her hair up into a tight pony tail on top of her head and applied some eyeliner.  She was ready for work in 10 forward and dinner later if John wanted. She left her quarters and made her way back to Ten Forward, perhaps the night would be busy.

( Will, you do not need to reply for Commander Sheriden.  When you do simm his final departure can you have him say good bye to Suzan? I would appreciate it ... Thanks, Sue)

((USS Khitomer - Transporter Room))
Timar made his way to Transporter Room 3, using the computer
interface along the bulkheads to assist him on finding the correct
room. Some people had already arrived, but he was sure there would
be another straggler or two. He surveyed the other officers,
subconsciously analyzing their physical composition. A habit he had
picked up as a child. Among those gathered was a Vulcan woman.
Perhaps part Betazoid, judging by her darkened eyes.
"Dr. Lyre," she offered, looking up at him from beneath her lashes,
holding the medkit handle in both hands. "You must be Ensign Timar?"
She phrased it as a question as she could not be certain.

He gave her a small smile and nod, "That's right. How did you know?"
He cocked his head slightly to the side, a trait that he had been
working to rectify as it was not a typical human gesture. Another
habit left over from his childhood.

A look of mild amusement passed over her features, "I was in sickbay
when Commander Sheriden ordered you and Dr. Brex here," she
explained. "Unfortunately, Dr. Brex suffered severe radiation
poisoning."

Timar's eyes widened slightly at the news, "Is it wise to have him
join an Away Team after such exposure?"

Before she could reply the doors opened for the two bridge officers,
and Tanneth turned to face them, putting her beside the engineer.
William came into the transporter room to find an ensign he had
never seen before standing with the counselor. He held out his hand
in a gesture of welcome "I am Ensign William Tindall,
security /tactical. Welcome aboard."

TIMAR: (reply)

William was excited about being on his first official away mission.
There had been a time when he wondered if he would be allowed on
away missions but his fear had proved groundless.

Tanneth watched the two men introduce each other in silence, merely
nodding at William as he entered. She knew how much this would mean
to him, as he seemed to always feel as though he were racing to
catch up. Hopefully though this would be a peaceful mission.

In between handshakes, Logan stepped in and introduced himself. "Hi
I'm Logan Blackheart, helmsman/CAG. And this is my first day, and
it's very exciting." Logan was trying to cover his excitement as he
went on. "I mean this is also my first first contact with an alien
race. And one of my pilots, K'Lea, she's still in their hands, so
I'm a bit anxious to get over there and make sure she's OK."
Concern was showing now on Logan's face as he made eye contact with
the away team. "It's a pleasure to meet you all." Logan finished.

"I am glad that we have all had a time to catch up and meet with one
another. Now, however, we need to get to the other ship." Sheriden
replied. He then moved to the transporter platform.

"Commander, ensign," Tanneth greeted quietly, "Unfortunately I was…
occupied during the battle and so know nothing of what we are being
sent to do." There was obvious some expectation that they would
require medical assistance.

Sheriden immediately saw his failure with the away team. He had
placed several people on it who were not familiar with what was
currently goingon. "Very well. This is a first contact situation.
The race we are going to meet are very aggressive. We don't know a
lot about them yet and the reason I chose you guys is that you have
had less experience with them and I want unbiased opinions."

Reply anyone

"One of our fighter pilots is there. We believed that she was killed
in action, but it turns out that she was pulled out just in time. I
want everyone to be very observant. This will not be a long stay,
but one that will hopefully gain us an ally in this section of
space. Any questions?" He asked.

Reply anyone

"They appear to be a lizard type race, but not totally like the
Gorn. More humanoid than they." He stated.

Reply anyone

OOC: I will answer more questions.

"Very well. Everyone to the transporters." He ordered.

They all climbed onto the pads. Sheriden looked to the tranporter
chief. "Go ahead chief."

With that, the group disappeared.

OOC: Anyone can describe the interior. I will give a couple of days
and if no one does so, I will.

<snip>
It was doubtful that Avish was a pirate himself, he was more of a middle man. As of now Moreth felt the distinct sense of a trap closing, he had already scrutinized the area and knew the most likely place from which it would spring. Still, he would give Avish the chance to conclude the deal, afterward he could easily report to Commander Daniels the matter and have Avish brought in for interrogation.
"The PADD?" Avish asked, seeming a bit anxious to get his hands on access to all that latinum.
"Very well." Moreth handed Avish the PADD.
For a moment Avish looked the data over, satisfied that he would indeed be able to transfer the latinum to his own possession. That was all he really wanted, these two Klingons would be dead shortly and he would be much richer. Smiling a self-satisfied smile, Avish spoke. "Yes, the deal is indeed concluded."
Those words were not only heard by everyone present but also by two hidden Nausicans hiding in rooms on either side of the corridor. There was an audio link between Avish and his two hidden companions, when he spoke the words "the deal is indeed concluded", that was their signal to spring into action and kill both Moreth and M'Rek.

Two doors in the corridor slid open, a Nausican was poised inside each one and taking aim upon the backs of Moreth and M'Rek. Instinct had warned both warriors, as the doors opened each one leaped aside to the wall, reaching toward their disruptor pistols as the Nausican weapons opened fire. Moreth felt the heat from the weapon's energy discharge pass his shoulder and sear itself into the wall beside him, the would be assassin had missed.

Yanking his own weapon free of its holster Moreth dove forward into the floor, before the Nausican could lower his weapon to take another shot, Moreth placed his own weapon in firing position and pulled the trigger. The blast caught the Nausican amid the center of his upper body, throwing him backward into the empty room and killing him. From his place on his belly Moreth spun up into a sitting position, M'Rek was dead in the floor and his killer was now pausing as if to make sure the Klingon was really dead. That momentary pause cost the Nausican his life, Moreth spun his hands from their previous firing position around and brought his weapon to bear upon M'Rek's killer.

He fired once, then twice ... wishing to avenge M'Rek in any way possible. The Nausican's weapon flew from his hands as his form was lifted off its feet by the power of Moreth's disruptor. There were still two Nausicans left in the area, the original two who had been guarding Avish, they would now be taking aim themselves.

Stopping in his place Moreth looked at the dumbstruck Avish who stood several meters away holding the PADD given him by Moreth. It was an awkward second of silence, Avish could not believe his trap had not worked, nor did he know why Moreth reached toward his vest and pressed his chest.

Beneath his uniform Moreth had planted the trigger for the exploding device hidden in the PADD he had presented to Avish. By touching that button he started a 10 second countdown.

Looking at the PADD in his hand Avish noted the numerical display suddenly change, it was a number 9 ... then 8 .... then 7 ..... then 6! His eyes grew wide, now knowing what he truly held in the palm of his hand. There was only one thing to do, Avish threw wide his hands and tossed the PADD into the air. It exploded 4 seconds after leaving the palm of Mister Avish, spewing black smoke in all directions. The momentary surprise was what Moreth needed.

BLAMMO He hit the first Nausican.

BBLLAMMMM >>> BBLLLAAMMM He caught the second and sent him both to the floor and to his death.

Avish made a dash for the door but never made it. Moreth was to his feet and had him by the collar before Avish could get anywhere. Moreth slammed him into the wall and glared at the miserable criminal.

"I want to know where you got those phaser coils," he demanded, his disruptor pushed against the throat of Avish.

Avish remained quiet, as if unwilling to bend to Moreth's threat. Dropping his disruptor and removed the knife from his side he eased the blade to Avish's jugular. "You killed a member of my crew, a brother warrior." Pushing the knife into the pink flesh of Avish's throat just enough to draw a trickle of blood Moreth again spoke.

"My brother will be avenged, tell me where these items came from and I shall spare your life."

Avish was so rattled he was shaking. "All ... a ... all right ..." He gulped and felt the continued pressure from Moreth's knife, he knew full well that this Klingon was ready to kill him without a second thought. "They are aliens ... f-from the unchart ...charted regions. They make their living as free traders."

"You mean pirates!" snarled Moreth.

Moreth and M'Rek entered a dank and poorly lighted section of an unused portion of deck aboard S.F.E. The section itself was sealed off from the rest of the deck due to its dilapidated condition, however Mr. Avish had used this particular place before during many deals best kept secret. It had been he who set the meeting place with his two Klingon customers, it was going to work well for him.

Moreth and M'Rek entered, their pace one hedged with caution. Moreth knew full well that walking into this situation was strategically unwise, Avish had stated flatly that there was only one place aboard this station where he would make a delivery and that was right here. Seeming absolute in his designated place of delivery, Avish also made it clear that if this arrangement was not accepted that he could easily terminate the deal. Moreth knew that his only chance of gaining any Intel on the pirates he sought was to agree to the meeting place with Avish. He knew full well that the danger of a trap was likely, his mission though outweighed everything and he intended to carry through with the mission which brought him to S.F.E in the first place.

Making his way across the room toward a point where he saw Mr. Avish standing alongside two armed Nausicans, Moreth showed not the slightest hint of fear. He and M'Rek strode toward the place where they stood amongst the emptiness of the deck, there was nothing around them at all except the empty metal of the deck-plates beneath them. The walls were barren metal, with several closed doors which Moreth assumed must lead to smaller interior rooms along either side of this section. To Moreth it was expected that Mr. Avish would have some sort of back-up with him, only a fool would meet two dishonorable Klingons involved in an illegal deal without having some armed muscle on his side.

Stopping just a few meters away from where Avish stood alongside his two Nausican friends. Moreth eyed them disapprovingly. "Are our negotiations to be viewed by these? I don't recall dealing with them earlier."

The two Nausicans tensed, neither really moving their plasma rifles to any great extent. One raised hand from Avish told the Nausicans to remain calm. A smile came across his face as Avish waved in a dismissive way in the Nausicans direction. "You needn't be concerned about these two, they are merely employees of mine who assist in somewhat .... sensitive deals such as this."

"Get to it," Moreth shot back. "You said that you could supply us with four phaser coils for our shipboard weapons system, Starfleet phaser coils. I do not see them." The deal called for four Starfleet phaser coils in exchange for 7500 bars of latinum, the method of payment would be simple. Moreth carried with him a PADD containing the access codes for the Bank of Bolius, all Mr. Avish had to do once he delivered the phaser coils was input his own account number and that sum would be automatically transferred to his personal account. Unlike many other financial institutions in the general area, the Bank of Bolius operated with very few disclosure laws therefore making it one of the major financial institutions for those who desired to keep their financial transactions quiet.

Avish rubbed both palms together in the manner of a man who expected to get even richer this afternoon. "I assume you have the access to the latinum?" Neither side trusted the other and both would take steps to be cautious.

Moreth pulled the PADD from his pocket. "Here, I have the information already placed and the transfer ready. You need only place your thumbprint on the scanner and enter your own code, the latinum will be yours."

Avish reached toward the PADD, stopping suddenly when Moreth reached toward his sidearm. "I see no phaser coils."

No phaser coils, no PADD. To Avish this was hardly an unexpected development. Turning to one of the Nausicans, Avish spoke. "Kelbo, go get the items." The Nausican headed off toward a door which slid open, he emerged a moment later with an anti-grav sled holding four Starfleet phaser coils. Moreth knew instantly that Avish could have only obtained these particular phaser coils from the cargo stolen over the last few months. He had memorized serial numbers of the more valuable items, the numbers upon the outer casings of the phaser coils all matched those which were stolen. The situation was clear, Avish was somehow connected to the pirates and was selling the items they had stolen.

((USS Khitomer - Transporter Room))

William came into the transporter room to find an ensign he had never seen before standing with the counselor.  He held out his hand in a gesture of welcome “I am Ensign William Tindall, security /tactical.  Welcome aboard.”

TIMAR:  (reply)

William was excited about being on his first official away mission.  There had been a time when he wondered if he would be allowed on away missions but his fear had proved groundless.

Tanneth watched the two men introduce each other in silence, merely nodding at William as he entered.  She knew how much this would mean to him, as he seemed to always feel as though he were racing to catch up.  Hopefully though this would be a peaceful mission.

In between handshakes, Logan stepped in and introduced himself. “Hi I’m Logan Blackheart, helmsman/CAG. And this is my first day, and it’s very exciting.” Logan was trying to cover his excitement as he went on. “I mean this is also my first first contact with an alien race. And one of my pilots, K’Lea, she’s still in their hands, so I’m a bit anxious to get over there and make sure she’s OK.”  Concern was showing now on Logan’s face as he made eye contact with the away team. “It’s a pleasure to meet you all.” Logan finished.

SHERIDEN: (comments/entrances)

“Commander, ensign,” Tanneth greeted quietly, “Unfortunately I was… occupied during the battle and so know nothing of what we are being sent to do.”  There was obvious some expectation that they would require medical assistance.

SHERIDEN: (?, Timar and William have been elsewhere too…)

((USS Khitomer - Transporter Room))

Timar made his way to Transporter Room 3, using the computer interface along the bulkheads to assist him on finding the correct room. Some people had already arrived, but he was sure there would be another straggler or two. He surveyed the other officers, subconsciously analyzing their physical composition. A habit he had picked up as a child. Among those gathered was a Vulcan woman. Perhaps part Betazoid, judging by her darkened eyes.

"Dr. Lyre," she offered, looking up at him from beneath her lashes, holding the medkit handle in both hands. "You must be Ensign Timar?" She phrased it as a question as she could not be certain.

He gave her a small smile and nod, "That's right. How did you know?" He cocked his head slightly to the side, a trait that he had been working to rectify as it was not a typical human gesture. Another habit left over from his childhood.

A look of mild amusement passed over her features, "I was in sickbay when Commander Sheriden ordered you and Dr. Brex here," she explained. "Unfortunately, Dr. Brex suffered severe radiation poisoning."

Timar's eyes widened slightly at the news, "Is it wise to have him join an Away Team after such exposure?"

Before she could reply the doors opened for the bridge officers, and Tanneth turned to face them, putting her beside the engineer.

((USS Khitomer - Bridge, Transporter Room))

John turned around to face Ensign Tindal. “Ensign Tindall, would you like to represent security on this?”

“Aye sir,” William was glad to have been given his chance if he did well enough on the mission, maybe things would go better for him when he had to go before the commander. Nothing had been said but William knew from the look of displeasure he received when he had taken over the tactical station that he would most likely be punished for this latest transgression of the rules even more worrying had been Lt. Chennuh’s tone.  Out of  the commander’s ear shot she had growled at him.  William knew this was a danger signal.  He knew once they were in the privacy of the security office he would be dealing with one furious chief.  William knew Captain Nekkar would be disappointed when he heard about this incident.  Nekkar had given him his second chance, now had he let the captain down again.  William had a vague recollection of hailing the bridge for help, but he really had no idea of what had happened to him besides being in pain.  He had no idea if the commander would believe him.

William was brought out of what might happen when Ensign Blackheart joined the group.  William put all thoughts of his being in disgrace out of his mind to give the mission his best shot and hopefully he could redeem him self in his superiors’ eyes.  He made his way to the transporter room

(USS Khitomer: Shuttle Bay 3)

Olivia had just finished telling Ensign Timar where to dock and to report to the bridge when the Admiral asked that she go meet him and fill him on what has been happening. She left the bridge and made her way to the shuttle bay. She watched as the shuttle was landed and waited to the new crewman.

"Ensign Timar" she nodded and smiled politely "I am Lt Olivia Reed.  Pleasure to meet you and have you join our team"

Timar smiled and extended his hand in typical human fashion, "Pleasure
to meet you as well.  I'm looking forward to seeing the engine room."
He smirked.

"well you are in for a rare treat as we have just had an explosion in main engineering" she relaxed and smiled "I am sure its almost cleaned up completely"

Before Timar could respond, his combadge chirped.  He had been issued
one at the station before he left.

"Commander Sheriden to ensign Brex, and ensign Timar, please report to
transporter room three.

Timar raised his eyebrows at Reed, "Putting me to work fast, aren't they?"

"We all know the feeling I suppose" she remembered how she joined the Khitomer and was immediately on bridge duty.  "It should be an interesting away mission."

Tossing his bag to the ops officer, he smiled, "Thanks for taking care
of this for me.  I'll see ya around."

She caught the bag tossed at her and frowned.  Olivia was about respond but he was out of sight before she could finish the statement on her Lips. "But  Ensign I have" she saw it was fruitless to continue " instructions from the Admiral".

Olivia was angry.  She felt he had disrespected her by tossing his personal belongings at her and asking her to take care of them.  "no worries Ensign I will take care of them for you."  she made her way back to the bridge.

((Khitomer Bridge))

Olivia nodded at Joon and she could tell that Joon was aware of her mood.  The whole bridge crew could probably sense it.  "Excuse me Admiral"  Olivia did not know what he would think but she would ask his opinion. "May I have a word with you about a concern I have?"

Hebron:

Hebron:

"To be honest I did not find it amusing at all" she bit her lip and nodded "Yes I do have a sense of humor that could also get me in trouble at times" she paused and thought about it for a few seconds " but I do know when to turn it off and show respect for those of higher rank then myself."

Hebron:

"Thank you for your input Sir" Olivia said "I will set up a meeting with Ensign Timar as soon as the away mission is complete and we can hash it out and get things out in the open and settled."  She raised a brow and smiled at him "I will take care of his belongings but he might not like how..."
