VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
SME CHAPTER 204 Will host a booth at the Vermont Technical College
Career Fair along with 30 to 40 local companies looking for exposure
to the Vermont work force and students.
We will need people to man our booth and check out the other
participants.
The Fair is on October 24th 2002 at Judd Gym of Vermont Technical
College in Randolph Center Vermont.
Take exit #4 off interstate 89 and go up the hill about 1 mile
to the campus. Make a right hand turn and go along the front of the
campus. Park behind Judd Hall the center of three buildings on your

NRG Systems produces wind measurement devices for the wind energy business. They are based in Hinesburg and they are one the leading exporters in the state.
Dinner can order from their menu and a private room will be provided for our event. Chapter will pay for all SME members' dinner.

New England Region 5 COC Meeting
October 4th - 6th 2002
Sturbridge, MA
Make a reservation for this meeting.
MEETING INFORMATION:
This years COC will be held at the Sturbridge Host Hotel in
Sturbridge, MA October 4 through October 6. This weekend is usually
a very beautiful time in New England.
We will have activities for the entire weekend. Beginning on Friday
night, October 4, we will have a hospitality suite. On Saturday we
will have a full day of events starting with the business meeting and
ending the official day's activities with the installation of the new
slate of officers at the banquet. The banquet will end when everyone
has had enough fun and excitement for the evening. The highlight of
which is the medal winning Sweet Adeline Barbershop
Quartet "Reminisce" during cocktails from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
in the banquet room.
HOSPITALITY ROOM:
We will have a hospitality room at the Sturbridge Host Hotel. You
may inquire about its location at the check-in desk upon your
arrival. The room will be staffed from approximately 5:00 p.m. until
10:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your fellow SME
members, their guests and spouses.
This is a very casual and relaxing evening. I recommend attending
this function, even for only a few minutes. Your fellow SME members
and their guests are very helpful and friendly.
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided to all attendees.
DOOR PRIZE RAFFLE AND GIFTS:
Ron Messa will again host the highly successful Door Prize Raffle at
this years banquet. All chapters are asked to donate a wrapped door
prize for the raffle. Please bring your gift with you to the banquet
on Saturday night. See Ron with your donation when you arrive. If
you can not attend the banquet, please see Ron during the meeting
Saturday afternoon.
MEETING INFORMATION
Important Region business and voting will be conducted which will
affect the way your Region operates. The highest ranking elected
officer in attendance from each Chapter is entitled to vote, offer
resolutions or to make motions. In the event that no Chapter officer
is able to attend, a delegate may be designated. This delegate MUST
bear a letter verifying their special status. These credentials need
to be provided to the Region Secretary (Jeffrey Caleshu) prior to the
start of the business meeting.
Nancy Maier from SME Headquarters and ex-officio Gene Nelson will be
speaking at the business meeting. They both will have good
information to share.
Don't miss out on an opportunity to meet with these people and other
SME Chapter members. Even if you are unable to attend the banquet on
Saturday evening, you are encouraged to join us for the business
meeting that morning.
Our training sessions during the day, which include Chair/Chair-
Elect, Treasurer and Six Sigma training, will meet the National
requirement of a Chapter officer's attendance at a Region training
session. We will forward all attendees names to National so that
your chapter will get credit for attendance and receive all possible
funding. There is No Charge for this Region benefit.
The banquet Saturday night will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail
hour, which will be followed by a banquet style dinner. The cost for
the banquet is $30.00 per person.
HOTEL INFORMATION:
This will be a weekend meeting. We have made arrangements with the
Sturbridge Host Hotel for a block of 25 rooms for 2 nights to be held
for SME members at a special rate of only $119 per night
Single/Double, $129 per night Triple and $139 per night Quad. Please
contact the Sturbridge Host Hotel at (508) 347-7393 (You cannot make
Hotel reservations throught this site) and you MUST specify that you
are attending the Society of Manufacturing Engineers group name in
order to receive the preferred rates which have been contracted.
Most of these expenses for the weekend will be reimbursable by SME
either on a Chapter or Region level. However, you should confirm
this in advance.
The Sturbridge Host Hotel and Conference Center is ideally located
and accessible from all major cities in the Northeast.
We have some agreed upon rates for each of the 2 nights, which are as
follows:

The Region 5 Officers Installation and Banquet will be held at the

REIMBURSEMENT POLICY:

Elects, also Chapter Executive Committee members to attend Team
Meetings. These meetings are meant to improve communications between
Region 5 and all of it's chapters. At this meeting I am hoping to get
started on helping Chapters and Student Chapters in any way that we
can to keep them open. These Team Meetings are a great opportunity to
view your region at work and see the direction we have for Region 5.
I have included a tentative agenda for everyone¹s reference. All
committee members should have their reports prepared for the meeting
and I would like everyone to comment on their respective committees.

New England Region 5 Team Meeting

Region 5 Executive Committee Meeting
We will be holding the Region 5 Executive Team Meeting at the Ramada
Inn, in Auburn, MA on September 14th, 2002. This is an important
meeting because we have some new committee members to add to
committees.
Region 5 encourages and invites all Chapter Chairpersons and or Chair-
Elects, also Chapter Executive Committee members to attend Team
Meetings. These meetings are meant to improve communications between
Region 5 and all of it's chapters. At this meeting I am hoping to get
started on helping Chapters and Student Chapters in any way that we
can to keep them open. These Team Meetings are a great opportunity to
view your region at work and see the direction we have for Region 5.
I have included a tentative agenda for everyone¹s reference. All
committee members should have their reports prepared for the meeting
and I would like everyone to comment on their respective committees.
I would like everyone to Please keep their reports short and to the
point.
The Region will provide mileage reimbursement for all committee
members that are active in the Region. The meeting will begin at
9:00AM, with a light breakfast provided from 8:00 to 9:00.
We will also provide a coffee break and a lunch will be provided for
everyone in attendeence at no charge. This is a $15.00 value,
provided to you at no charge as members of the society. The meeting
will end by 12:00PM.
