The UW Medicine IT Services Clinical Application Support Analyst is both a subject matter expert and technical systems expert who offers an array of cross-functional systems knowledge and support skills for applications used by multiple UW Medicine customer groups. Clinical Application Support Analyst support skills span the entire lifecycle of UW Medicine clinical systems, from initial business process analysis and requirements gathering, through project delivery, software testing, system troubleshooting, and training, to production system support and process analysis and improvement. The primary responsibilities of the Clinical Application Support Analyst are to: •Analyze business processes and procedures •Define and document customer requirements •Perform system configuration / development tasks •Proactively monitor and maintain systems •Perform problem resolution •Manage and perform project tasks •Develop and maintain reports •Develop and maintain system documentation •Liaison with site Functional Analysts / End Users •Develop and provide training for IT Services staff •Manage vendor relationships •Provide regular status reporting and time allocation updates Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities ANALYZE BUSINESS PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES •Analyze current and proposed business practices. •Recommend new process improvements. •Evaluate possible vendor solutions and system products. •Observe and interview employees regarding operations and procedures. DEFINE AND DOCUMENT CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS •Act as an expert resource to UW Medicine staff by anticipating and identifying educational, procedural and functional problems associated with the implementation of new applications. •Meet with customer to identify system needs. •Set appropriate expectations of customer requirement fulfillment. •Lead cross-functional project teams. •Define screens, reports and processes (manual as well as automated). •Make decisions regarding potential systems and the setting of priorities for development and implementation efforts. •Provide functional expertise to optimize the design and development of systems. •Demonstrate, evaluate, and test prototype and production systems. •Act as a corporate focal point for the development of new technologies. PERFORM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION / DEVELOPMENT TASKS •Perform system configuration / development changes necessary to develop and/or maintain clinical applications, using standard Client/Server and/or Web technologies. •Assist in the requirements gathering, development, and testing of system interfaces PROACTIVELY MONITOR AND MAINTAIN SYSTEMS •Coordinate all system information change requests and trouble tickets, including flow, tracking and prioritization of change requests / tickets. •Coordinate and/or participate in required testing of change requests and trouble tickets using standard methodologies. •Work with all required (intradepartmental & interdepartmental) personnel to define and manage changes to system reference data. •Follow required Change Control processes to ensure proper approval, coordination, and communication of systems changes. •Maintain system and application tables in production, test, and training environments. •Monitor system outputs for integrity and error identification. •Maintain user security access. •Act as a liaison between systems to ensure data integrity and information flow. •Maintain accurate documentation of system changes and issues by using standard methodologies. PERFORM PROBLEM RESOLUTION •Perform analysis and troubleshooting for application issues. •Manage and maintain issue tracking, internally and with vendor. •Provide regular status to management, customers, and stakeholders. MANAGE AND PERFORM PROJECT TASKS •Responsible for the successful completion of assigned project tasks. •Test assigned configuration and/or development tasks for usability, performance, and adherence to standards. •Manage implementation of sub-projects. •Report progress on assigned tasks to project manager. •Track detail status of each task. •Perform and report results of application and system testing. •Organize and track detail of application and integration testing. •Create project documentation, including monthly status report to stakeholders and sponsors. •Follow required Change Control processes to ensure proper approval, coordination, and communication of project tasks. DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN REPORTS •Work with user liaison to define report requirements according to IT Services standards. •Evaluate report requests for likelihood of performance impact on patient care / OLTP database in collaboration with IT Technical Services. •Audit daily, weekly, and ad hoc reports for system integrity and error correction. •Develop reports using most efficient query language, with system productivity as key defining driver. •Test reports according to IT Services standards. •Document report data in a user-friendly fashion. •Maintain catalogue of reports. DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION •Document system and business requirements. •Create test plans and scripts for system and user acceptance testing. •Document current and proposed data flows. •Identify need for and document support plans. •Assist with and document the development of new standard operational procedures. LIAISON WITH SITE FUNCTIONAL ANALYSTS / END USERS •Assist in resolution of application and process problems. •Answer calls and provide information on application use and process issues. •Work closely with the UW Medicine IT Services Help Desk to provide efficient and responsive support to end user staff. •Provide supportive and positive mechanisms for reporting application and system deficiencies, and facilitate reporting of suggestions for system improvements. •Using quality improvement principles, monitor system impact on user and departmental workflows and incorporate results into system enhancements. •Participate in evaluating ergonomic and device requirements to include ease of use, utility, cost effectiveness and appropriateness. •Attend or lead user advisory committees as required. •Act as quality assurance liaison between application system end users and system developers. •Act as a liaison and/or facilitate communication between end users and IT Services system administrators, other analysts and programmers. •Work with user groups to provide diagnostic assistance, resolution to questions, and problem direction. This includes assisting user groups with filing of issue and problem reports, and routing system problems to IT Services. •Maintain clear and consistent communication with all levels of user groups regarding changes to systems. •Act as corporate focal point for distributing information and providing assistance in understanding and using system required inputs, and expected output. DEVELOP AND PROVIDE TRAINING FOR IT SERVICES STAFF •Provide internal training for IT Services staff. •Assist the Education Team with IT and system needs. •Maintain training system, as per training system service level agreement. MANAGE VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS •Primary contact for daily operations with external vendors. •Manage and coordinate system or application upgrades with external vendors. PROVIDE REGULAR STATUS REPORTING AND TIME ALLOCATION UPDATES •Provide weekly status reports to CAS Manager. Information should be accurate timely, and pertinent. •Update CAS Time Tracking database with task-level detail of your activities on a weekly basis. OTHER DUTIES, AS ASSIGNED •Other duties, as assigned by the Clinical Application Support Manager and/or Clinical Application Support Lead include, but are not limited to the following: oAct as backup for other Clinical Application Support team members and functions, as needed oComplete ad-hoc system and/or process analysis / documentation as assigned oMonitor application logs, application performance, and assist with application capacity planning. oAdvise and assist with user security access in collaboration with User Access Administration (UAA) and Provider Maintenance Group (PMG). oAssists with development of security and confidentiality system standards for new applications to meet federal, state, CMS, and JCAHO regulations. Supervision Received General direction is received from the Clinical Application Support Manager and Clinical Application Support Lead. Supervision Exercised Manage small to medium projects, as assigned. Lead process improvement efforts, as assigned. Position Competencies •Analysis of health care provider workflows is translated into design specifications that are effectively used by providers in their daily work. •System testing results in a minimum number of system errors found post implementation. •Daily activities contribute to increased customer satisfaction with ITS support services and application use •Projects proceeding on time and in alignment with ITS information systems strategies. •Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of, and maintains confidentiality of employee information and medical center strategic plans and initiatives, financial information or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize employee rights or organization’s operations. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary employee and organization information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION •Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, or a clinically-oriented health field. EXPERIENCE •Minimum of three years recent healthcare experience. •Recent experience developing, implementing, and/or providing maintenance / support for clinical applications. •Experience working in a service-oriented, Information Technology setting. Equivalent education or experience may substitute for above stated requirements. GENERAL •Strong customer/personal relationship skills •Excellent oral and written communication skills •Ability to synthesize operational data, literature and verbal input into appropriate policy and procedure •Well organized, detail oriented •Ability to visualize global view •Working knowledge of desktop computer •Proficiency with basic office applications, including Excel •Knowledge of database structures, data definitions and data relationships •Strong interpersonal and communication skills and customer service principles •Interest and aptitude in information technology

Desired:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: •Strongly prefer Cerner (or other vendor) health information, medical records, provider order entry and/or clinical repository systems development, implementation, and maintenance / support experience •Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate multidisciplinary work groups in an application development or support setting •Familiarity with operations of Unix and/or Windows Operating Systems •Web development experience •Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate multidisciplinary clinician groups as part of a clinical information system support. •Demonstrated ability to manage small to medium-sized IT projects and/or process improvement initiatives. •Previous experience working in a clinical or clinical-support setting •Training experience which includes evaluating staff competency in the use of the system, use of equipment, and integration of the applications into the clinician workflow.

UW Medicine Information Technology Services is a shared services organization, which supports all of UW Medicine including UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, UW School of Medicine, UW Physicians, UW Physicians Network, Eastside Specialty Center, Hall Health Primary Care Center, and Sports Medicine. IT Services is responsible for the development, acquisition, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise computing systems, applications and infrastructure which support the Institutional mission of patient care, teaching, and research in a 24 hour 7 day mission-critical medical care environment. The Senior Security Engineer will work as a member of the IT Services Security Operations team. Security Operations provides a range of security services and/or technical expertise in threat analysis, vulnerability management, access control, firewall management, intrusion detection and prevention, virtual private networking, penetration testing, audits, incident response and forensic investigation, among others. Expertise is provided to the organization via managed infrastructure systems, documentation, security guidelines and procedures, training, consulting, and through representation on institutional committees. The Senior Security Engineer will report to the Associate Director for Information Security and will collaborate with other Senior Security Engineers and Security Program Analysts within the IT Services Information Security Program. Duties & Responsibilities • Design, implement, manage, and support appropriate solutions for enterprise security infrastructure, including host-based and appliance firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, virtual private networks, vulnerability scanning systems, penetration testing, and forensics analysis. • Research and develop security procedures and guidelines in support of security policy, including topics such as data classification, system configuration, malware protection, access control, encryption, risk assessment, and disaster recovery. • Perform system security audit activities to provide assurance of adequate and effective security controls. • Monitor and analyze emerging security threats and related vulnerabilities. Recommend appropriate actions, safeguards, and notifications. • Provide technical leadership on security incident response teams. • Conduct computer forensics investigations to establish timelines, determine root cause, identify data exposures, and recommend corrective actions. • Provide consulting to all UW Medicine entities on a wide range of security topics. • Provide technical leadership and/or project management for security related projects. • Provide systems administration for systems owned by the team. • Develop and manage web content in support of the team’s documentation, communication, and education goals. • Represent the Information Security Program by participating in technical advisory groups, project teams, and other committees. • Participate in on-call responsibilities in support of a 24 x 7 production environment. • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:	Minimum Education • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific, or business administration field. Equivalent experience may substitute for the educational requirement. Minimum Work Experience • Three years hands-on working experience as an engineer or analyst in information security disciplines. • Three years systems and security administration in Windows, UNIX, Linux, and/or Mac environments, including development in popular scripting languages for automation, data collection, and reporting. • Three years experience managing host-based and network appliance firewalls, including rule set design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting. • Two years experience on security incident response teams with some experience as team leader. • Two years experience with incident investigations and forensics analysis using a variety of open source and/or commercial tools. • One year conducting system security audits, control analysis, risk assessments, or related processes. • One year managing end-user and/or site-to-site VPN services. • One year operating a systematic vulnerability scanning and remediation program. • One year managing intrusion detection and prevention systems. • Experience writing security guidelines, procedures, and other technical documentation • Experience developing and managing web content, including good knowledge of HTML, CSS, and open source or commercial web publishing tools. • Experience with Juniper appliance firewalls and Netscreen Security Manager • Experience with Real Secure Desktop Protector and Symantec Endpoint Protection • Experience with Juniper SSL VPN products • Experience with Tipping Point Intrusion Protection System • Experience with EnCase forensics tools and Encase Enterprise client • Project management experience • Current security certification (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, EnCE) • Organized and detail oriented, able to multi-task effectively • Excellent problem analysis and problem solving capabilities • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

•This position should expect significant interaction with Development, Quality
