The UW Medicine IT Services Clinical
Application Support Analyst is both a subject matter expert and
technical systems expert who offers an array of cross-functional
systems knowledge and support skills for applications used by multiple
UW Medicine customer groups. Clinical Application Support Analyst
support skills span the entire lifecycle of UW Medicine clinical
systems, from initial business process analysis and requirements
gathering, through project delivery, software testing, system
troubleshooting, and training, to production system support and process
analysis and improvement.
The primary responsibilities of the Clinical Application Support Analyst are to: •Analyze business processes and procedures •Define and document customer requirements •Perform system configuration / development tasks •Proactively monitor and maintain systems •Perform problem resolution •Manage and perform project tasks •Develop and maintain reports •Develop and maintain system documentation •Liaison with site Functional Analysts / End Users •Develop and provide training for IT Services staff •Manage vendor relationships •Provide regular status reporting and time allocation updates
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities
ANALYZE BUSINESS PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES •Analyze current and proposed business practices. •Recommend new process improvements. •Evaluate possible vendor solutions and system products. •Observe and interview employees regarding operations and procedures.
DEFINE AND DOCUMENT CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS •Act as an expert resource to UW Medicine staff by anticipating and
identifying educational, procedural and functional problems associated
with the implementation of new applications. •Meet with customer to identify system needs. •Set appropriate expectations of customer requirement fulfillment. •Lead cross-functional project teams. •Define screens, reports and processes (manual as well as automated). •Make decisions regarding potential systems and the setting of priorities for development and implementation efforts. •Provide functional expertise to optimize the design and development of systems. •Demonstrate, evaluate, and test prototype and production systems. •Act as a corporate focal point for the development of new technologies.
PERFORM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION / DEVELOPMENT TASKS •Perform system configuration / development changes necessary to
develop and/or maintain clinical applications, using standard
Client/Server and/or Web technologies. •Assist in the requirements gathering, development, and testing of system interfaces
PROACTIVELY MONITOR AND MAINTAIN SYSTEMS •Coordinate all system information change requests and trouble
tickets, including flow, tracking and prioritization of change requests
/ tickets. •Coordinate and/or participate in required testing of change requests and trouble tickets using standard methodologies. •Work with all required (intradepartmental & interdepartmental)
personnel to define and manage changes to system reference data. •Follow required Change Control processes to ensure proper approval, coordination, and communication of systems changes. •Maintain system and application tables in production, test, and training environments. •Monitor system outputs for integrity and error identification. •Maintain user security access. •Act as a liaison between systems to ensure data integrity and information flow. •Maintain accurate documentation of system changes and issues by using standard methodologies.
PERFORM PROBLEM RESOLUTION •Perform analysis and troubleshooting for application issues. •Manage and maintain issue tracking, internally and with vendor. •Provide regular status to management, customers, and stakeholders.
MANAGE AND PERFORM PROJECT TASKS •Responsible for the successful completion of assigned project tasks. •Test assigned configuration and/or development tasks for usability, performance, and adherence to standards. •Manage implementation of sub-projects. •Report progress on assigned tasks to project manager. •Track detail status of each task. •Perform and report results of application and system testing. •Organize and track detail of application and integration testing. •Create project documentation, including monthly status report to stakeholders and sponsors. •Follow required Change Control processes to ensure proper approval, coordination, and communication of project tasks.
DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN REPORTS •Work with user liaison to define report requirements according to IT Services standards. •Evaluate report requests for likelihood of performance impact on
patient care / OLTP database in collaboration with IT Technical
Services. •Audit daily, weekly, and ad hoc reports for system integrity and error correction. •Develop reports using most efficient query language, with system productivity as key defining driver. •Test reports according to IT Services standards. •Document report data in a user-friendly fashion. •Maintain catalogue of reports.
DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION •Document system and business requirements. •Create test plans and scripts for system and user acceptance testing. •Document current and proposed data flows. •Identify need for and document support plans. •Assist with and document the development of new standard operational procedures.
LIAISON WITH SITE FUNCTIONAL ANALYSTS / END USERS •Assist in resolution of application and process problems. •Answer calls and provide information on application use and process issues. •Work closely with the UW Medicine IT Services Help Desk to provide efficient and responsive support to end user staff. •Provide supportive and positive mechanisms for reporting
application and system deficiencies, and facilitate reporting of
suggestions for system improvements. •Using quality improvement principles, monitor system impact on
user and departmental workflows and incorporate results into system
enhancements. •Participate in evaluating ergonomic and device requirements to
include ease of use, utility, cost effectiveness and appropriateness. •Attend or lead user advisory committees as required. •Act as quality assurance liaison between application system end users and system developers. •Act as a liaison and/or facilitate communication between end users
and IT Services system administrators, other analysts and programmers. •Work with user groups to provide diagnostic assistance,
resolution to questions, and problem direction. This includes
assisting user groups with filing of issue and problem reports, and
routing system problems to IT Services. •Maintain clear and consistent communication with all levels of user groups regarding changes to systems. •Act as corporate focal point for distributing information and
providing assistance in understanding and using system required inputs,
and expected output.
DEVELOP AND PROVIDE TRAINING FOR IT SERVICES STAFF •Provide internal training for IT Services staff. •Assist the Education Team with IT and system needs. •Maintain training system, as per training system service level agreement.
MANAGE VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS •Primary contact for daily operations with external vendors. •Manage and coordinate system or application upgrades with external vendors.
PROVIDE REGULAR STATUS REPORTING AND TIME ALLOCATION UPDATES •Provide weekly status reports to CAS Manager. Information should be accurate timely, and pertinent. •Update CAS Time Tracking database with task-level detail of your activities on a weekly basis.
OTHER DUTIES, AS ASSIGNED •Other duties, as assigned by the Clinical Application Support
Manager and/or Clinical Application Support Lead include, but are not
limited to the following: oAct as backup for other Clinical Application Support team members and functions, as needed oComplete ad-hoc system and/or process analysis / documentation as assigned oMonitor application logs, application performance, and assist with application capacity planning. oAdvise and assist with user security access in collaboration with
User Access Administration (UAA) and Provider Maintenance Group (PMG). oAssists with development of security and confidentiality system
standards for new applications to meet federal, state, CMS, and JCAHO
regulations.

Supervision Exercised Manage small to medium projects, as assigned. Lead process improvement efforts, as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
•Minimum of three years recent healthcare experience. •Recent experience developing, implementing, and/or providing maintenance / support for clinical applications. •Experience working in a service-oriented, Information Technology setting. Equivalent education or experience may substitute for above stated requirements.

Duties: Experience setting up and maintaining Win 2008/2008 R2 networks Network Testing C++ coding Mac and Unix Experience Candidates will be writing and running Unit Tests, setting up network configurations then running tests (both manual and unit tests) against those configurations, as well as some integration testing. 40% testing via writing Code, 60% manual testing
Job Overview: Team is looking for a Software Design Engineer in Test to help create and maintain a network infrastructure for testing, perform in-depth network testing, as well as create and own unit tests written in C++. The tester would also be responsible for performing manual integration testing as well as the creation of AppleScript based automation scripts.
Need: • Windows Server 2008 and higher Setup, Configuration and Maintenance Experience • Experience in Manual and Automated Testing • Experience in Network testing • Proficient in C++ (2-3 years of experience) • Unix experience • AppleScript Experience (1 year) • Mac Experience
